August post op sleevers: Check in

Don't feel bad. So far I only lost 30 pounds.I feel great! We are still in the beginning stages and 30pounds less is awesome. As long as you are sticking to lean proteins first, drinking your fluids, and some moving uou will continue t lose. But I am sure you guys have some NSVs. And I am sure have some inches off too.
  4. I did not feel like making a new thread, so I am just gonna post my NSV in here. I went shopping today for stuff for my trip and I went to Fashion Bug and go a nice pair of jeans that were size 22. Then I went to Old Navy wanting to check out their jeans, I was disappointed to see they only carried up to size 20. I was like what the heck, let me see, they probably won't fit. I picked up 2 different styles, the first one I tried on fit. I was like yay holy crap, they fit. The second style, buttoned, but felt really uncomfortable, so I did not get that one. But I was so happy I now can fit into Old Navy. It made my day, and even though I did not find what I went out looking for, which was a pair of capris, since I am going to the Bahamas, I had a good day. Oh well, hopefully it won't be super hot there and I can get away in jeans, without dying of heat.
  5. Had a nice NSV this morning, went horseback riding in the snowstorm, I'm almost 3 weeks postop, and I have 5 horses. So getting more fit as a rider, was a huge push for me to get the LAP Band. Had a nice half hour ride out in the snow, walk and trot, on my little elderly Arabian mare. She is small, pony sized, and I sometimes felt self conscious riding her, as I felt that I was "out of proportion" to ride such a petite horse. I'm down about 17 lbs, eating normal soft foods, no vomiting or real complications now. So YAY for horseback riding in the snow! I had no discomfort mounting, dismounting, tacking up, walking and trotting. I'm back to being me
  6. I've been on a business trip since Monday and this trip has been full of NSVs. First, I didn't have to use a seatbelt extender for the first time in years. Then today when we went out to lunch we walked 4 blocks each way to and from the restaurant. And again for dinner we walked 3 blocks each way to the restaurant. None of these things would have happened 3 months ago...I wouldn't have been able to walk that far. Even more than the 41 lbs I have lost, these things really show me how far I've come!

Yeah Dez on the NSV!! Congrats to you I had another 1.5cc's on Friday so now I'm at 7cc's. I am feeling the restriction now. I tried to eat a chicken breast last night and it didn't feel very good...No PBing, but very uncomfortable. I'm also enjoying "shopping" in my closet and in my "some day" bins of clothes. Every day I can wear something new! My pocket book is definitely thanking me! Sherri - please don't hesitate to share your personal life - we're all here for you and care very much about you...if you don't want to post what's going on in the thread, at least PM someone... Beth - I agree with Mary...although you may hate to hear "I told you so", it's better than suffering and maybe causing irreparable damage. Please call them. Long day again for me - went to the orthopedic doc and got my cortisone shots in my knees. I'll be good for about a month or so again and then I'll bite the bullet for another month. He is giving it to me every two months to get me through the school year and then hopefully I can have knee replacement in June after I'm done working for the summer. I have hot flashes the first night after the shots, so I'll be sleeping with the covers half off tonight! I'll feel like dancing in the morning, though!

Hi all, I just had to share this funny NSV!! My cat usually sits on one of my legs and this morning she kept falling off, it was so funny she was slowly losing her balance and one of her paws kept slipping!! I know my legs aren't skinny but it does show they are smaller than they used to be......
  9. WOW Vicky! What great NSV's! I also love the increased stamina that i have and my knee and foot pains are gone! I think what you are describing weight loss wise makes sense. Your body must need to adjust for each decade lost. I know it is common to have weight loss stall out at weights we weighed for a long time in the past, a set point I think it's called. Yeah for you! Joan, your sista, lol
  10. News Flash! Frustr8 weight has lowered. to 290 pounds, 7 weeks post and I have lost 53 pounds since July 31st. Never could have done this without my Bariatric tool. God Bless you Bradley J Needleman, you and your surgical staff have performed a miracle. Well I helped a little, my stricture kept my liquid portions small, whoever wants to claim credit, just go ahead! I think I may be finally going down in clothing size, granted there is still an X after it, but I believe it to be a mention-worthy NSV!😛😛

What's up everyone how's it goin? I had a NSV over the break, I was going in for my 6 month checkup (5 months in) and they had a new gal working working at the front desk. Lap-Band patients have to fill out some survey thing that reports stuff to your doctor. Well she didn't give me one so I was just sitting their waiting, and like 10 minutes later she calls me over and says she didn't know I had the lap-band and gave me the sheet. I'm joining in on the Valentine Challenge, I've been a slug over christmas break. I'll say 210-215 by Valentine's Day. Anyways, I start a pretty hard course load on wednesday so wish me luck. (I'm taking a weight training course too, pretty cool :heh:) Welp, take it easy everyone. Here is a new pic(click for biggie): Also, I'm hoping to hit my overall goal before June 24th (a year from when I originally started my diet, one month before the surgery.)
  12. I am 62 years young. I have lost 100 lbs since lapband pre-diet and surgery on 10/30/09. Mostly I have been walking and doing weights exercise at the gym. I noticed my arms tightening up and my husband commented last week about my thighs. And, I had a NSV today, a lady that did not know me before my 100 loss, but was aware of the loss, told me that I had great looking legs and had I lost a lot there. You can tighten flabby skin, but it doesn't happen overnight! Karen(kll724). (by the way, no plastic surgery for this girl)!!
  13. So my first NSV for the week is making me scratch my head. I'm still losing, which is nice, but I had to return a pair of American Eagle brand shorts because they were too large—apparently I'm a size medium now. The idea of a six-foot-tall, 268-pound man being a medium in ANYTHING clothing related is just too bizarre for words. I expected it in Carhartt work t-shirts because they're like Chucks, they're known to run very large and you have to size down. But a teenage clothing line?? But that's not the weird NSV. The weird NSV requires some backstory. I live in a two-story home that is a little older (by local standards; stop laughing, Europeans). My beloved offspring's bedroom is directly above the doorbell—the actual thing that makes the chime sound itself. Whenever I would walk across her room, my weight would compress the floor and press down on the wall that the doorbell mechanism is mounted on, and because of how it's wired, the doorbell would ring. It took me WEEKS after we moved in to figure out what the heck was happening. I'd be putting her to bed and the doorbell would ring. She'd wake up and need water or to chase away a nightmare at 2:30 a.m., and I'd walk in and... the doorbell would ring. Freaked me out! Well, the other day I was putting clean laundry on her bed ("put it away yourself!") and I noticed that I don't make the doorbell ring anymore. Not even if I hop up and down on the spot. Nothing else has changed except the size of me, and so... weird non-scale victory!
  14. Genuine first weird NSV: Walking outside and experiencing that magical sensation of my undies slowly falling down inside my jeans, which are also slowly falling down. Holding my jeans up by the pockets on my way home, with my undies trying their best to be budget thigh-garters. Sexy!
  15. Def an NSV. I noticed this too as I lost weight! Looking at old pictures, my trapezoid area shrunk (the part between the side base of your neck and the top of your shoulder). And as it did, a little dip formed there that was a perfect little cubby to hold my purse strap in place! Lol. So yeah, add it to your NSV list, ha! ❤️
  16. I can cross my legs with ease!!! phew! Also, this weekend I flew in a very old WWII plane. Allegedly this was a 2 seater (open cockpit) but I had to sit sort of sideways to fit. 6 months ago, I would have been embarrassed that I had to squeeze thinking the reason would be because I was too big (and I prob wouldn't have fit) but, now I know I am healthy and was not embarrassed at all- just a little squished. Other weird NSV: underwear is too big! to the point of unwearable. lol.
  17. 2 NSVs to mention. 1. I just got my annual labs drawn and the lab has those chairs with the padded lap bar that comes down, presumably to contain surprise fainters. The last time I had labs drawn, maybe 7 months ago, the bar rested on my stomach and couldn't come down all the way. Today it came all the way down and there was room to spare. 2. I'm a side sleeper and at my highest weight, my hips were so wide that my body was kind of a slope and my top arm would fall down with my shoulder pressing into my neck. Now, not only is my arm horizontal and not choking me, but my elbow is dipping down into my waist. I don't find this comfortable, but it's definitely a victory. I'll be experimenting with pillow placement to deal with being poked by (still very buried, but now detectable) hip bones.
  18. So I have experienced some good NSV's like many of you during these past few months. Stuff like fitting in restaurant booths better, fitting clothes better, not having to worry so much about weight limits on certain things, the car seatbelt not making that dreaded sound cause it was pulled out too far.........lol.......etc. But this weekend I had something else happen that took me by surprise. So since surgery on May 19th I lost 62 lbs and since March the total is 81 lbsl! Even though those numbers sound good and I can see some changes in me, whenever my husband says stuff like, "Wow, I can't believe how thin you've gotten!" etc. I always reply with how I don't see it and how I still have lots to go. He always says I don't give myself enough credit, etc. Anyway, this weekend we were out and about and we decided to stop and have lunch and as I approached the restaurant door, I was taken aback by the figure/person I saw in the reflection. It was almost as if I didn't recognize myself for a split second. It was strange. I usually wear my old baggy clothes still but this day I decided to wear leggins that actually fit and were NOT baggy, I had my heel boots on, a nice sweater, etc. I was feeling really good about myself. Well, the next day we were out again visiting a lake/park. This particular lake has different boat rentals like kayaks, canoes, etc. Things I could never do cause of my weight. So we went inside to inquire and, low and behold, I was actually UNDER the weight limit!!! I was so happy I could barely contain my excitement!! So we walked outside, me in front of my husband, and he again commented on my weight loss and how I've been looking and so I told him to take a few full body pics of me so that I could see what he sees. He took one of the front and back. Now, taking a photo of my whole body has always been a HUGE NO NO and everyone knows it so I was scared to see the results. Well when I looked at the pictures I actually burst into tears!!! It was such an unexpected reaction from me that it caught us both off guard. My husband was asking and hoping they were tears of happiness and I told him YES! That it was the first time in decades that I could actually stomach seeing a photo of myself that I was Ok with. I cried some more and hubby comforted me and told me how proud he was of how well I was doing and how happy he was that the surgery was finally helping me lose weight when so many things I tried never did. He said he was happy I was getting healthy, that I was off some medication, and my labs were coming back great. He also reaffirmed that my weight was NEVER an issue for him and that he loved me always, no matter how big or small I am and I told him that I always knew that but that it was always an issue for me. Which is why I had the surgery. I guess it was the combo of the catching a glimpse of myself in the reflection, the better fitting clothes, learning I can now kayak and then seeing myself in the photos that it just really hit me. I have a ways to go still, like I always tell him, but I am FINALLY starting to feel happy with what I am seeing. It feels really good!!
  19. NSV's: No more blood pressure medication Economy class airline seats aren't that small anymore
  20. I can’t believe I haven’t really thought about this NSV until now, but now that you mention it, I remember that I used to go through so many pants because of wearing out the inner thighs. I haven’t worn out a single pair of pants since I’ve been my current size (about 2 years)!
  21. New NSVs! I now fit into all the clothes I stashed away after getting too big for them. I tried on my wedding dress yesterday - and it fit me! Here is the weird one: I can see my thigh "saddle bags" that used to bother me so much. I love them now because they are a symbol of my body taking shape now that they are no longer blending into and being covered by other extra fat.
  22. Back with more NSVs and LOVING reading all of yours. Here we go: I am fitting into the smallest "skinny pants" I bought back in June. When I bought them I couldn't get the zipper even close, but today I am wearing them. My mom is at my house rehabbing and I am giving her a lot of intensive round-the-clock physical care. There is no way I could have done this without the weight loss I've had. I have so much collarbone and a lovely visible jawline. I can't stop looking at them every time I pass a mirror. Space between my toes. I can cross my arms across my waist and still fold forward, in fact it turns out that without a big belly in the way this is a very comfortable position. I can also cross my legs or sit on the floor in a resting position with one leg comfortably crooked up into a bend. my balance, it is so much better.
  23. Another weird NSV but shopping less and having a fuller pantry. Because of how little I can eat, I don't need to buy groceries like I used to. I use to spend so much money on groceries and go through them within a week because I ate so much. But now I'm spending less money and my pantry is fuller longer. It almost feels like a bariatric super power as I see my roommate buy hundreds of dollars worth of groceries and go through it within a week! I can make one 100 dollar trip last 20 days! Of course I spend a fortune ordering my fairlife shakes online hahaha Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. This got me in the feels, actually made me tear up feeling happy for you. Congratulations on this, you have obviously been doing the internal self love and acceptance part of this journey. That is a solid NSV!
  25. First off, AWESOME boots! Secondly, I had a similar NSV. Mine were riding boots, though. (I ride horses). ❤️
