75 miles? Not me :wink2: I'm lucky if i get 40! I guess i can count the elliptical trainer which i haven't been getting to since work has cut into this time too (7am calls). So I'm on day 3 after mythird fill and still unable to go to mushies. A little yogurt and I'm sliming. Hoping after riding tomorrow I'll loosen up some. In any case not an emergency keeping liquids down. I guess if no improvement by Monday I'll call the doc. -

Congratulations Christie! I was banded on 9/1 also. My gas pain is all in my chest too. Walking helps. Every time I walk, I cough - which hurts the belly but I guess that means progress. Full liquids is good, way better than clear, but I can't seem to find anything I am interested in. The cream of chicken Soup was good...all the Protein shakes taste way too sweet. What else is there? Yogurt I guess. We are allowed to have cottage cheese too, I could try that. Not much of an appetite. -

I ain't gonna lie, pre-op dieting is screwing with my mind. It's showing me what a horrible relationship I have with food. This empty feeling makes me think I'm hungry and I know it's in my head but it's hard. Today has been my roughest day and I'm on day 8. I think maybe I've had too many carbs n it's triggering me. I ate an Oikos vanilla Greek yogurt and thought it was sugar free but it wasn't. It had sugar. Big wake up call for me. What do you do now when you're bored instead of eat? -
September 2009 Band Date

Thanks BooCakes! I am pretty sore today, and sitting in the car for 6 hours on the drive home did not help. I need to walk around some more to get rid of the gas pains. Other than that, all is good! Not too hungry, probably had about 500 cals total of soup & yogurt & protein shake today. Much better than all that broth! You will be on the banded side soon! :blushing: -

I haven't had the refried beans do you know why they said no? I had scrambled eggs w/ cheese; flounder sauteed in lemon and a teaspoon of butter, yogurt (greek). On Tuesday when you go to mushy you still can't have refried beans? I am trying the ricotta recipe tomorrow. -
I am SO Looking forward to a protein shake and yogurt too! Sleeved the 18th! Going to first pre op tomorrow

I was, I can start the diet I was on 2 weeks prior to surgery today. So I can do protein drinks, yogurt, sf pudding, etc. I'm breaking the rules my nurses in the hospital gave me, and I'm gonna use the gas x my dad got me. I can't take this much more. There are so many sounds coming from my belly, but no farts or poop. The sounds and feeling in my belly is like when I'd know I was gonna liquid pee, before surgery. Haha. What in wouldn't give for that right now. -
Day 2 of liquid pre op diet
HungryMel replied to TexasLady2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it probably wont hurt you but the BEST thing you can do is really stick to the pre-op diet and suffer like the rest of us! You will understand why you MUST stick to it after you get banded. I lost 13 lbs on pre-op diet!!! If you can't do the pre-op diet, then you shouldn't get banded. TRUST ME, this part is the easy part, then having the surgery is easy to...its after surgery that is the hard part. FOLLOW THE DIET! sorry, but i have faith you can do it!!!!! I just did it 3 wks ago. with no cheating! SOME TIPS: (if you can have these - i was allowed) sugar free strawberry Jello layered with Sugar free and fat free cheese cake pudding! Freeze your favorite fat free yogurt! (i love dannon light and fit - carmel flavor) Tomato Soup and pea soup SAVED ME! Your Protein drinks - blend them with other flavors, add some fat free/low fat vanilla yogurt - it adds thickness and sweetness to them, EAT EVERY 2-2.5 hrs, IT REALLY HELPS! -
I have accepted I am a slow loser. I was sleeved Dec 5th weighing in 280 a few days prior to surgery. I now weigh 224lbs so that is 56 lbs. None of my weight has come at a constant steady loss. I started with a 22 drop in the first few weeks of liquid dieting. A week ago I decide to return to liquid because I was tired of see 236 on the scales. The scales have responded with 12 lbs. down. I know some is Fluid and I know this is not a diet change that will be a way of eating for life. I have learned plenty during the year before surgery and the six months past surgery about what eatting habits should be and I feel looking back over my MFP I think I have done well sticking to those guidelines. I have heard plenty of losing slower is better but I simply want to see results! I am wondering if anyone else has resorted to returning to liquid dieting to lose pounds more quickly. I am still tracking my liquids to be sure all nutrients are fulfilled. I usually have 4 or more premier drinks. I throw a Greek yogurt in once or twice a day to change up flavor. All said I am usually 700 - 900 cals. 120- 150 grams of protien and all nutrient goals met when I count Vitamin supplements I do good getting Water in as well. Not sure how long I can keep going but not finding much data on folks who have been sleeved and do long term liquid diets. Any thoughts?

Sleeved April 27 and on Pureed foods, who is with me
BlueRose replied to judyoz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on April 29th. I am on purée for 3 more weeks. I've pretty much been living on plain greek yogurt with a tsp of sf syrup mixed in, cottage cheese and shakes. Yesterday I tried part skim ricotta mixed with a little tomato sauce. On Monday I made some chicken salad and puréed it....then I was in horrible pain after eating it. Lesson learned! Good news today from my post op appointment. I have lost 17lbs since my surgery date. -
I just had my surgery with Dr. Ortiz in Mexico, TJ and it was above and beyond what I could have ever expected. I know everyone told me great things about getting banded in Mexico, but experiencing it myself, it exceeded all my expectations. I am day 4 post op and feel very good. I feel a little swelling and have restriction. One 4 oz. yogurt is enough to fill me to the limit. They have been doing banding longer over there than here. I know Dr. Ortiz has done over 4000. I give it a 10+ Audree

Andrew0929, Good for you for nipping the regain in the bud! I doubt if the cereal per se is actually causing the weight gain if you’re truly staying within your calorie goals, but I agree with some of the others that maybe it is an unhealthy habit if you’re depending on it and it’s driving you to make other unhealthy decisions. I love some of these ideas! As you think of some more, I’d also try to think about why the cereal is so attractive. Part of it may be the sweetness and crunch, but part of it may just be its convenience. It’s there, and it’s ready to eat. Maybe if you make sure that it’s not there, and that other, healthier, Snacks are ready to eat, you’ll go for the healthier snacks without another thought. Maybe the trick is to have ready to eat foods on hand, so some ideas are carrot sticks and other cut veggies, peeled oranges, washed grapes and other fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and other prepared foods. I also like seaweed snacks for a low-calorie crunch.

Pouch already stretched at 6 weeks out?
AnnaValenka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I've been feeling like I'm eating too much, and think I'm already going back to my old bad habits, my NUT program says Protein shake for Breakfast and dinner, a 1cup size of a kinda regular meal at noon (very little carbs and fat) and 2 Snacks in between (fruit). The problem is, I can't stand the flavor of the Protein Shake, I made my own recipe of a high protein dessert which is made of 1 scoop of Protein powder (24 grams) + Greek yogurt (12.9) + milk powder (7.8) + cocoa powder or frozen strawberries and I have it once a day, besides that I try to eat as much protein as I can even in snacks. I know some of you will call me crazy but I feel hunger since 2-3 weeks ago, and I eat mostly out of hunger, let's say, lentils Soup for breakfast 1 cup, fruit with yogurt for snack, my regular lunch (1 cup), protein dessert and another soup or meat for dinner, some times I have a double snack. I don't really have so much trouble with my liquids, 84 Oz, most of the time half Water half 2% milk because I don't like the taste of water. My waiting time between eat - drink - eat is about 10 minutes, some times less without consequences. I stalled at week 3, had dumping syndrome once because I forgot I'm not allowed to have sugary drinks and once out of refried Beans ( and I mean real Mexican REFRIED beans), learned the lesson and never suffered again. I've been losing very slowly for the last 2 week's and I want to know if any of you heard about a stretched pouch this early. I had a gastric bypass last April 29th, initial weight 308, current weight 266. It sounds a lot for 6 weeks, am I living this too fast? Sent from my Sony Xperia -
Sleeve surgery instructions
anonbaribabe replied to Healthy_life's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sure. Here's my diet progression: Stage 1: Bariatric Full Liquid Diet (Weeks 1-2) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids This is the number one priority after surgery—drink a minimum of 64 ounces/day. Examples: Water, herbal tea (no caffeine), Crystal Light, PowerAde Zero, etc. Liquids should be non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, and under 15 calories/8 ounces #2 Protein Shakes Goal of 60g-80g protein/day. Mix with water or unsweetened nut milk. Stage 2: Soft Protein Foods (Weeks 3-4) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids Still the number one priority after surgery #2 Food 3 meals/day of soft protein foods (aim for 60g of protein as able—compensate with protein shakes if unable to hit 60g through food). There is no set portion size—you must listen to your body. Examples of soft foods: eggs, whole beans, canned meat, shaved/thinly sliced deli meats, fish, tofu, Greek yogurt, cheese, refried beans, etc. #3 Protein Shakes You may need to drink 1 protein shake/day to meet the 60g of protein if you can't meet this goal from foods. Stage 3: Bariatric Regular Foods (Week 5+) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids Still the number one priority after surgery #2 Food 3 meals/day focusing on protein. Small bites and stop at the first indication of fullness. There is no set portion size. Try new foods one at a time and in small amounts. Focus on solid protein for best portion and hunger control. Put fork down and pause between bites. -
I had my post op today too and everything looked good. I got contact dermatitis from the dermabond that is on its way to healing. Still super itchy but it’s not as red as the past couple of days. I’m beginning to think my practice is so incredibly different from the others. We don’t have a purée stage. First 10 days is liquid+ meaning liquids/shakes/yogurt/pudding etc. after 10 days it goes to soft (fork mashable foods) which includes cooked veggies, meats (ex chicken salad and tuna salad, or any moist meat). I’m now cleared to slowly add in these softer foods before cleared for regular food in 3 weeks. I ate tuna tonight with 0 issues :) Fluid avg: 100oz Protein avg: 85g How is everyone else fairing?

Yeah, my go-to on weekdays is a 30-gram ready make shake (either Ensure or Premier Protein). The increased protein (Carnation is 13g) would help keep you full. I drink mine around 7:30 and don't start to feel any hunger until 11. If you need something else, like a small snack to get you through to lunch, I would get Breakstones cottage cheese (comes in an individual package like yogurt does) or individual servings of plain Greek yogurt (you could add some of the Carnation powder to it to increase protein and make it tastier).

I hear you, Yogurt is no too bad , ( 10 days may be another story ) but I hate cottage cheese ! Thanks for the info. I think I will be a little crazy until I get it done. I get my plane ticket today. I feel lighter already, fiancialy that is LOL Yasmina

My meeting was by phone, so she said she would send out the package today. I am just ancious to know. She told me all about the pre op diet because I have to start on Tuesday. Yogurt and cottage cheese, and if I really need it a chicken breast. I also read today that SF Jello was alright too. Yasmina

Any May 2010 Bandsters?
Gone4Good replied to Quinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been feeling hungry the last two days. Had my surgery Friday- I don't know if he used a larger band on me or what, but the Jello just isn't cutting it. The nutritionist told me, and the lady in the class with me, not to eat yogurt during the first 2 weeks, but I had to- broth makes me want to throw up. I get so nauseated when I smell it- So I had to have something with some nutritional value. The yogurt seems to be doing fine, but I still feel hungry again within a couple of hours. I can definitely tell that I am going to need a fill when the time comes!! -
Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
nawlenslady replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I can't deal with yogurt at all - it makes me gag! I've tried regular and greek; plain and flavored; regular and lite; fruit on the bottom; mixed with fruit; mixed with flavorings - you name it. It's weird - I LOVE sour cream and have no problem eating that but I just can't do yogurt. Tried it both pre- and post-surgery - YUK!! I wish I could since it would be another Protein source for me. -
Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
facorsig replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Eating Greek yogurt is one of the topics I share with others about this lifestyle. I started to eat Greek yogurt on the advice of a health coach about two weeks before my pre-op diet. I detested it. I mixed in chocolate Protein powder, but the sourness was strong and it was like gagging with every spoon. After a month, I stopped gagging, but really hated it. I found I had tried so many brands hoping to find the one.....and I did.....Lucerne. It is the cheapest plain Greek yogurt. I had tried organic ones and ones with bigger brands or better packaging. I think Lucerne is a local, Texas brand. I must say while I don't like plain Greek yogurt, it has become a staple. I attribute some reductions in flatulence volume and toxicity to the yogurt (sorry if this is TMI). It remains on my doctor prescribed diet even after the Protein Powder and so many other things have gone away. I go through a 2# tub each week for $3.45. I don't shop at chains other than Randall's because other chains don't sell this brand. To me, it was part of the lifestyle change I needed to make, and I made it successful. -
Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
blondiebabs replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought some sugar free Torani syrups because I've seen it suggested a lot, I haven't tried it in yogurt yet but they are good in plain Protein powder. But in the past I have flavored the yogurt with extracts as well and it is good, you can find a lot of flavors usually on the baking aisle, orange, lemon, mint, vanilla, coffee. I hit them up when they are on bogo haha. -
February 2016 sleevers?
perforce replied to NYGirlxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! though I'm here until Sunday. The mentioned I shoild try drinking water today (I had my leak test) and that they'd try me on some thin yogurt drink thing tonight, but no drink. Given that I've been zipping water and it still kind of hurts I'm glad though. I'm home now! They started me on this 15g protein shake - it was fruity and actually good. Plus broth, jello and Popsicles. I had to focus on the shakes yesterday and got two in. Just drank one on the 1.5 drive from San Francisco to Sacramento. Taking a break and will just sip water. This afternoon ill try to drink a premier protein shake. It has 30g of protein in it so if I can't get anymore after that im OK. Hope they get you your yogurt drink soon. Does it hurt when water goes down or your whole stomach? I drink, it goes down, and then a second later it hurts, I have to wait for it. I was given something warm to drink this morning that didn't hurt so much (was it tea? was it chocolate? no idea, it was brown and milky and didn't really taste like anything) I was able to finish the mug in about 20 mins or so, and bad my first bm after, so things seem to be ok.
