  1. So my first NSV for the week is making me scratch my head. I'm still losing, which is nice, but I had to return a pair of American Eagle brand shorts because they were too large—apparently I'm a size medium now. The idea of a six-foot-tall, 268-pound man being a medium in ANYTHING clothing related is just too bizarre for words. I expected it in Carhartt work t-shirts because they're like Chucks, they're known to run very large and you have to size down. But a teenage clothing line?? But that's not the weird NSV. The weird NSV requires some backstory. I live in a two-story home that is a little older (by local standards; stop laughing, Europeans). My beloved offspring's bedroom is directly above the doorbell—the actual thing that makes the chime sound itself. Whenever I would walk across her room, my weight would compress the floor and press down on the wall that the doorbell mechanism is mounted on, and because of how it's wired, the doorbell would ring. It took me WEEKS after we moved in to figure out what the heck was happening. I'd be putting her to bed and the doorbell would ring. She'd wake up and need water or to chase away a nightmare at 2:30 a.m., and I'd walk in and... the doorbell would ring. Freaked me out! Well, the other day I was putting clean laundry on her bed ("put it away yourself!") and I noticed that I don't make the doorbell ring anymore. Not even if I hop up and down on the spot. Nothing else has changed except the size of me, and so... weird non-scale victory!
  2. Back with a new NSV: I officially weigh less than my husband. First time in our 25 years of being together. Not only can I wear his shirts, but they are baggy on me.
  3. Oh YEAH! These are great ones. And this makes me think of how some things happen that I don't even realize. Like, you just made me realize I don't have to roll over in bed in stages anymore! So many things are happening, and there was so much I had grown accustomed to and now that it's gone sometimes I don't even realize it! That in and of itself is a big NSV! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Ok, I'm catching up on some of the posts (which go back to August 8th!) so bear with me... Christie: ROFLMAO about your '8packs'. I'd take it as a compliment! Stacie: Just read your post about possibly going back to school. Just do it. I know 'years' sounds long but, trust me, they go by so fast! I went back to school at 28 to get my bachelor's and the years sped by! Hummingbird: Congrats on the NSV moment! I like those much better because it makes me realize that the scale is not 'king'. Bobbie: Woohoo! on Onderland...and the job! Cocoa: Sorry to hear about your tooth! I did the same thing though and I had insurance. After playing around with it for months trying to figure out why it was causing me pain, I told them to just take it out. Best decision I ever made. Hey...you're on FB? Friend me! Melody Parker Upham Shad: How come they're waiting so long to flip your port?? Betsy: I am so sorry to hear of all you're going through. There's a BPD (borderline personality diagnosis) board at home that I've found amazingly helpful in dealing with my own BPD family member...who I am thankful to say lives 5 hours away. The support there is tremendous. Bob: Great news on the plastic surgeon! Are you getting this done before you've lost all your weight or just 'checking out' the possibilities. Leigha: Love your before and after pics! So did you find the 'bandit'? Dottie: Welcome back from one MIA to another. Ok, I hope I didn't miss anyone!
  5. So this is a truly random one... my eyebags have gone. Like almost completely. I'm not sure if it's because I'm sleeping better, or because my face skin is "pulling" differently, and I really was not expecting that as an NSV, but I will 100% take it!
  6. NSV for me is wearing these beautiful shoes for 9 hours!
  7. Genuine first weird NSV: Walking outside and experiencing that magical sensation of my undies slowly falling down inside my jeans, which are also slowly falling down. Holding my jeans up by the pockets on my way home, with my undies trying their best to be budget thigh-garters. Sexy!
  8. I'm off to Boston for a conference for the next three days, and will be in touch again Monday. I walked 2 miles today, and have made a commitment to at least 2 miles 5-7 days a week. Plus my calories are 1200. So I'm on my way. Oh, NSV today- a neighbor I haven't seen for about three months said "You've lost weight!" It shows! Now, boys and girls, behave yourselves, especially Christie and Felix:tongue2:!!!
  9. Great NSV Melody! Oh, your trip sounds so fun! Atkins will be so much better for your trip. Going in very tight band mode would not be easy.

    Other Montanans Out There

Hey Guys, How about a check in? How is everyone doing this summer? How is the WL and or NSV? Are people noticing your loss? Compliments? All's well here. I've had another fill last month for a total of 5 cc's in my VG10 band. I can feel the restriction and that is a good thing. I'm down 44 since surgery in January. My exercise is intermittent...but I do keep re-motivating myself..and tomorrow it is back walking my 3 miles. How are you guys motivating yourselves for exercise? What types of exercise do you do? Lets hear all about it. Shawn

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

power is back on!!!! NSV............jeans that are fitted and button, and are levi's.....I cant believe I was in a size 30/32 at the begining of 2007...wow.....I love new jeans.......they make me want to work harder.....yippyyyy
  12. Good morning Notorious Novembers and soon-to-be banded folks! Have my first fill appt tomorrow morning (can't wait!) and I'm glad because I don't feel any restriction right now. I've rebounded a few pounds because of the holidays and eating solid food, so I'm looking forward to losing again. Have had some NSV's - smaller clothes, more energy, etc. Went swing dancing with my hubby on Friday night and was able to keep up most of the night. We don't do the really fast or athletic moves, but had a great time anyway...looking forward to taking classes this year so next January we can really show off! Love my band, who I've named "Jillian" after my favorite psycho trainer on "Biggest Loser". Will report in tomorrow after my fill - hoping for great restriction! Was off work from Dec 23 through Jan 5 because of the holiday shutdown - went to the gym 6 times and worked out during the time period (more than I would have before my band). Feeling very good about my activity level - just want the scale to move!
  13. thankyou to everyone for all your interesting and positive stories and comments. i have my pre-op tommorrow nov 22. hopefully surgery in 2 weeks or so. i hope to be in your NSV club soon! I love reading all the stories because it gives me a broad range of info. Thankyou everbody !!
  14. That's a HUGE NSV.. Congrats on the fantastic loss.
  15. One of the things that really pushed me to have surgery was the embarrassment that I felt last summer not being able to ride rides at the amusement park and having to get off of rides because I didn't fit. This all happened in front of friends of ours too. We are on our way home from the amusement park now and I fit on every ride! Even the kiddie roller coaster that I have never been able to fit on! So excited it feels so good!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Raynie- I totally get where you are coming from. I am in the soft food stage and although I haven't tried to eat any meat or anything too hard, I have found that I can eat way more than I think I'm supposed to. Of course, it is still wayyyyy less than I could eat before surgery. Unfortunately, I have been eating soft foods that are full of fat and calories. Mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, omlettes. I once drank sweet tea instead of unsweet. (That's a southern thing... sweet tea is the bomb!) Sat. night was DH's 20 yr class reunion and I drank a margarita. Mondays are my weigh in days and I lost 1/2 a lb last week. Very discouraging since I was loosing 7-10 lbs a week at first. I feel really guilty so this week I am back to soups and yogurt, SF pudding, etc. I'm thinking seriously of going to counseling! I did have some great NSVs this weekend though. I had to break down and buy new jeans because my old ones were literally falling off of me. My old favorite jeans were a size 24. The new ones I bought over the weekend were SIZE 20 with a little room to spare!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! Lori

  20. Saw the first photo since starting this journey that i loved this week. I have been really struggling with still seeing myself as fat. I'm now 62.5kg but until seeing this photo, still felt like I was 100kg. I won't post the pic because it has my daughter in it, but thought I'd share my NSV.
  21. Hi guys! Another NSV- this is me in my new size 14 Cue jacket I got on sale from Myer (70% off- woot)!! I had just said to my mum on the drive to Toowoomba that this was my next goal I need a new one lol

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Holy freaking cow, people! I'm gone for a few days over the holiday and I come back and have to read sooooo many posts! I missed y'all! Doing okay - the holidays got me a bit - gained a few pounds, but I'm scheduled for my first fill tomorrow, so I'm hoping for big things. NSV's - smaller jeans, swing dancing with hubby and no I'm-so-out-of-breath-I'm-going-to-die feeling, and hit a couple of personal bests at the gym during my time off. Back to work after a 10-day holiday recess (bless my employer) and having a tough time concentrating... Nice to see everyone - Happy New Year!
