My doctors store sold me a very high quality multivitamin, to take twice a day plus iron an c. Then told us to get vitamins for hair, body an nail because we would lose hair by three months. You should also be meeting a person to tell you what to eat an drink after 2 Weeks, then 4 an 6. They give you a new diet an orders for vitamins each time.

I was only given a stack of papers every time I met with nutritionist every two weeks, then 4-6 then 2_3_4 months. Each time we were given a new packet of instructions. But if you aren't sure call an ask the nutritionist.

Surgery is this week!
still_dna replied to shrinkingkimber's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! Starting my 2 week liquid pre op diet this Tuesday eeeek! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had to do optifast shakes for pre-op. I only got 3 a day tho, for 2 weeks. They didn't taste good, but they didn't taste bad. I didn't care for the strawberry ones, but I don't like anything strawberry. I did the chocolate and vanilla. They were really sweet. I found they were easier to drink if they were really cold, or even over ice, and with a straw.

Oh yes! What to do is not to panic. Stick with getting your protein and fluids in, along with exercise. Keep doing what you are meant to and don't get down about it - your stall will eventually break. I had a stall that went on for a few weeks, I kept going and eventually the scale plummeted! Good luck....

Full liquid question

I never measured my liquids either. I'd eat 1 small can of Cambells tomato Soup (with 1% milk) a day, broken up into 4 meals. I drank a 1oz medicine cup of Protein shake every hour (or actually whenever I remembered was more like it) and all the Water, crystal lite, Jello, and sf popsicles I wanted. To this day, I can't eat tomato soup. Thank God I found Progresso Tomato Basil Soup, cuz I'm gunna be back on the liquids for 3-4 weeks after my sleeve revision surgery in June. Luv me some Tomato Basil Soup! I would probably break 1 can (2 cups) into 4 meals also (1/2 cup each meal). Nothing like tomato soup for breakfast! Good luck! You'll be happy when you can add mashed potatoes (at least I was. Could've bought stock in KFC!) Marci -
I am 5 weeks post-op and have lost 20 pounds. A couple of days ago, I began to notice that when I bend down and come back up, I can feel something moving in my belly. It kinda feels like maybe the tube that goes from the band to the port. It is not painful, just a funny feeling. I have also noticed that since I have lost a little weight, I can feel my port more. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I am 2 days post-op and cannot keep pain meds down. I can only stomach water and Apple juice. Dr prescribed me Tylenol 3. Can't even swallow when it's crushed. Help.

Pasta?!
Amanda Nicole Hosaflook replied to Carol Quabeck Boyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow my doctor must be strict. I am a week post of. For the 1st 2 weeks I am on liquids only and it's the gross bariactric protein products. Nothing else! I also have to strain my soup. They don't want anything to get stuck while healing. I don't think I can ever eat pasta... -
Whole wheat pasta and brown rice are on my list of approved foods for weeks 2-6. I haven't tried any yet (5 weeks out) but will eventually. I was never a big bread eater before surgery so I don't think carbs are a "trigger" for me.

First 3 weeks, did lots of walking. Started back to my aerobic water class at about the 4th week, but some of the jumping, hopping things would hurt, so I did what I could. By the end of the 5th week, I could do everything that I used to do before and then some. No pain by then.

I'm 2.5 months out. I swim 3x a week, go dancing, and then do the occasional walk. Hoping to incorporate some strength training as well but for now I'm happy with my routine!

Exercise
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Hopejeung's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm like 6 weeks out and i haven't started intense exercise yet. I'll probably wait until a year or so after surgery, I'm planning on doing extensive hiking in the Sierras with a buddy of mine back in California. I also plan on getting a bike, if I can find practical ways of using it. -
I had my 2 week check up yesterday and I was told I could return to Crossfit (I've been going for over 2 years). The Dr said to listen to my body and stop a movement when it hurts. I'm going back to class on Monday and plan to lift light for the first few weeks, but I should be fine with the cardio portions.

My Birthday, & I Want Alcohol. Had Lap Band Surgery 11/21/11
vlp1968 replied to DLEMA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to consider that it could really set your weightloss back. Alcohol has lots of calories, and it may reduce your inhibitions enough that you eat things not on your plan. I would tread carefully. You don't want to ruin a whole weeks work in one night. -
Hello why the last 14 pounds is taking forever to come off? I didn't lose anything last week. I'm stuck at 139. Come on can you sprinkle something over here so the pounds come off before I'm 34 lmbo that's in December 7.

1 week post surgery and I haven’t lost any weight?
wakeupmaggie posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery last Monday and have followed the post surgical diet to the T ... I’ve also been walking everyday, keeping up with my 12 month old baby, and working full time ... and I’ve lost NO weight. It’s beyond frustrating to see the scale not budge! -
Bands are left empty when they are first put in (although I am sure there are some Exceptions to this) I was able to get my firt sill at 6 weeks post op, however, I decided not to get it then, I was still losing weight easily, in fact rapidly. I finally had my first fill about 12 weeks post op.

Women on BCP after surgery
Cervidae replied to mmorris4's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I actually stall out when I am off my birth control for whatever reason. Most people I've met actually have better results while on birth control. Then again, I and many of these women have PCOS just like @@SweetPotato so it may be different for you if you do not have any hormone issues. -
I don't get. I love my wine like the next person. I was having it shipped to me a small winery in California, but when I decided on surgery I stopped the shipments. I'm now 5 weeks out and focusing on getting and being healthy. I don't miss having a glass of wine, nor do I feel I need to or want to. I've been out with friends twice and on both occasions encouraged them to have their wine.... I just stuck with water. My surgeon recommends waiting 1 year. I may wait that long or I may not. I don't have a plan at this point. But I know this, I opted for surgery to be a healthier me. I know all the ways to cheat the system, but I'm only cheating myself. Once I have my eating in balance and I've achieved my goals then I look at enjoying a 'normal' life. So I have to ask...what is more important to you? Wine or a better life?
