  1. I am 10 days into my sleeve and this morning I have noticed my stomach starting to rumble which stopped after I finished my protein shake. Whats weird is how my brain is processing it and the best way to describe it is confused. I am eager to move to full liquid to see what my sleeve will handle with semi solids like yogurt. Is this normal at all? I have not deviated from the clear liquid at all yet. I havent felt that tingling or full sensation since day two when I first began to sip liquids. I can handle 8oz of liquid so far no problem but havent attempted to go beyond that. I have my first follow up on Thursday.

    I squeezed into a size 10....

I dream of that very moment....it was tooooooo long ago (10 years and I am only 29) that I fit into a size 10!!! Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!! You are at my goal! :huh2:

    I squeezed into a size 10....

Crishell; That was me, in the car when we left the store I got a little teary eyed. Hubby had no clue what was going on and I couldn't really put it into words. I felt like I could hear Marvin Sapp's "Never would have made it" was playing in the background. Me a size 10, couldn't be, can't be. I thought something must be wrong with the pants, or maybe they're cut really big. It took A while for my mind to grasp it.

Embarrassed to go for a fill..

Congratulations!10 pounds is not too shabby, especially in a months time! My doctor told me that I may not lose much until I start getting some fills. I had gained weight the first couple of weeks after surgery as it was a time for healing. You should not be shy or embarrassed about going back in, they should be your coach and cheerleader! Average weight loss should only be about 1-2 pounds per week. You are doing great!

last two days has been rough

Don't be discouraged! One of the hard things about weight loss is trying not to have our emotions be determined by a scale. It's just another tool to help you, not the beginning or the end. Having said that, I have to ask -- you're up 2 lbs according to what scale? Were you on the same scale the last time you weighed yourself? And did you weigh yourself at the same of day both times? I jump on the scale first thing every single morning. It's in my bathroom. But if I forget (and sometimes I do) I can't go back to the bathroom 10 minutes later -- it won't be the same as it would have been before I got myself up and moving around. And if I weigh myself at the end of the day, forget it! I'll be up 10 lbs. It's crazy.
  8. Just checking in, really trying to stay consistent on the forums here seems to help me stay accountable. I am 22 months post op and was doing great at my lowest (although still not my goal), then i gained 10 lbs during a SUPER stressful two semesters of grad school and starting a new job, and switching that job from days to nights, and just life in general. Because I haven't seen my surgeon in about 9 months and didn't have the option to see my usual nutrition clinician (new insurance doesn't cover their services), I took the steps today to make an appointment with my surgeon in June AND called for a NUT appointment with the bariatric clinic in a nearby town that my insurance covers. I had every intention of starting a 5 day pouch test too, but having just accepted a huge promotion in my new job, my coworkers are giving me a big giant potluck tomorrow night and even though I'll eat healthy, i didn't want to stand there with a shake and turn my nose up at their efforts. So, 5 day pouch reset starting sunday night... I would love any input as far as pouch test success, getting back on track, etc. I currently have 10 lbs to get back to my lowest, and about 25 to my goal!! I CAN DO THIS.

    Was the Band Necessary?

I'm getting the Band bc in the past I also have tried dieting, the part of losing weight is easy like Sweetpea said but my problem is maintenance.... That's why I think I need the Band the most! Its like a "headstart" for me bc I thrive on results.... The Band is so nevessary. I only wish I could have gotten it before I was 30! The last 10 years have been so challenging w/ diets that have failed for me.
  10. I'm trying to not let it get to me. I had my RNY on 10/12. By the end of my 2nd week, I'd lost 14 lbs post op, 5 lbs pre op....a total of 19 lbs. On my 3rd week, I lost 1 lb... A total of 20 lbs. I've had no weight loss in 2 weeks. My fiance and I weigh in on Mondays. If this upcoming Monday I have no weight loss again, it'll be 3 weeks with no weight loss. This is so frustrating. The stall happened to early. My surgeon's office does not require a Protein minimum - maximum, just yet. I only need to ensure that I'm in taking at least 64 oz or more of fluids daily. I'm all eyes and ears for suggestions. I felt like the first couple of weeks the lbs were melting away. Now.... I'm JUST STUCK! How do you break your stall?

    Drinking and Sleeve Postop

The main problem that people have with drinking post-op is due to swelling or spasms during the healing process. Not everyone runs into that though. Your capacity for liquids is not at ALL reflective of the size of your sleeve. Did you have a leak test post-op? I did and I could see quite clearly the way the barium went straight through my sleeve. Liquids just pass right through. Once you move on to purees and solids, you will DEFINITELY start to feel the restriction, since those things will actually sit in your stomach for some period of time. Here's a video of a gastric sleeve swallow test. You can see that the video is only 19 seconds long and the liquid just flows right through: http://youtu.be/K0GWL1Wtx30

    Saving Money and Loving It.

You look awesome! I'm about to turn 30 and having my surgery right before my birthday. My mom's been steadily losing weight over the last few years and hoarded some of her larger clothes, so I'll be wearing mom-clothes for a while. Fortunately, she is quite a fashionable 52 year old. lol! I also saved some clothes from 10 years ago when I was 6 sizes smaller in the hopes that some day I could wear them again - welp, soon enough, bag of hoarded clothes! haha. And people told me to just get rid of them. PFFTTTTT.

    Weight

@@northstar9148 Constipation may be the problem if you haven't gone in 3 days. I don't know why the fast works - but I lost 10 lbs during that week of being sick. I didn't lose that doing WW for 3 months.

    It's hard !

I found what worked for me to lose some weight u might want to try it and see if this works for you. Breakfast: slim fast shake (4 hr hunger control ) 8 Oz of 1% milk I scoop of slim fast and ice and blend Lunch: I made enough to make 2 portions one for dinner. Dice up egg plant, carrots, tomatoes, onions, green onions, bell peppers, broccoli, colliflower, season with whatever seasoning u like. I used adobo cumin , black ,pepper, garlic and lime juice sautéed it. And u can pair it with 3 Oz lean meat fish, turkey, chicken I cook it in my my wave oven. And I take a tablespoon og low fat Greek yogurt and hot sauce. And omg it's delish. Dinner: Eat second portion of lunch same way. Eat raw carrots when u have a craving to eat in between. You will lose weight eating this everyday and those 10 lbs will come off in no time. Try it. Yes I know it will become boring eating this everyday but it worked for me. I actually love it. Good luck. 18. The dr seemed excited about the lose. He did not caution me against losing too much but he was surprised I did lose the 14lbs. Losing 14 lbs is not that hard for me due to my size. It is getting harder to do as I get older though. But that's my cycle of lose 10 lbs. gain 15lbs. I can lose it but it always comes back bringing friends.

    From Hospital to Home….

A few things it would have been nice to know. 1) I had to sleep propped up, like in the hospital bed. 2)Sleeping on my side was OUT, for the 1st 3 weeks. 3) I hated the world for that 1st week. I wanted to fight everyone and everything! 4) It's going to be a struggle to drink enough. Just keep sipping all day. 5) Wear the elastic support band, all day every day. I wore mine for the 1st month - I was just a little OCD about it. 6) By day 10 most all discomfort was gone and I was out and about. Went back to work on day 11. 7) And most important - I no longer had food craving or really even cared about food anymore! Goodbye head hunger!

What do men eat on a normal day

I was banded on 01/19/09. I just had my first fill on 03/23. The fill has made a big difference and I can only eat 4-6 oz's per meal. Today my meals consisted of: Breakfast - 1c. Fiber one Cereal with 1c of skim milk/260 cal. lunch - Healthy Choice meal. Grilled chicken Marinara/270 cal. dinner - 2 oz sliced turkey and 4 oz cottage cheese/130 cal. I will probably have a snack later that will probably be 4 oz of suger free yogurt/60 cal. From what I understand it is very important to do breakfast on a daily basis. Breakfast will jump start your matabilism for the day and help your body stay out of starvation mode.

    Weddings & showers

To be honest, I wouldn't bother doing any of it. It seems like they just invited the person for a gift. I think that if I haven't seen a family member for 10 years, and it wasn't someone I was previously close to, I am excused from attending the wedding. But I hate weddings, so that's just me. If the person does insist on going to the wedding or shower, I think etiquette says that you only have to buy one gift. Either buy one for the shower or buy one for the wedding, but not both. Either way, though, use the provided registry. Or go with cash, since that's always popular.

    i hate him!!!

urghhhhhhhhhhh!!! i cant even described how royally pissed off i am at my PCM. so i got to my appointment today (had to get up at 4:30 am to take hubby to work) get to his office wait thirty minutes just for him to give me ANOTHER piece of paper. but wait it gets better.....whats on this paper you ask?!?! MY TRICARE INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS!!!! something you think he would have given me when we first met a month ago. .....what was on this paper you ask?!?!?! i ahve to lose 10 pounds as a form of commitment to the lap band. i told my stupid doc that if i lost any weight i wouldnt qualify for the rest of my requirements...but did he listen?NO!!! so now i have to lose 10 pounds in like a week so that i can go back next week and get my referral. but thats not even the worst part!!!! were living overseas (hubbys in the airforce) and i have to be at least one year away from our DEROS date(date we go back to the states) to be eligable.we leave next may!!!!! so now i have to pray for a miracle and hope the hubby can extend our DEROS date so i can get the lap band. all this because my stupid doc couldnt give me a stupid freaking paper on my first visit!!! I JUST WANT TO CRY!!!
  23. My bandiversary was October 29th. I've lost 50 lbs as of that day. I have a 10 ml/cc band and had a total of 6 mls when all of a sudden I had many many episode of reflux when I went to sleep at night. It was so bad that I would get it even if I sat straight up in a chair with my head propped up. My doc took out 1.5 ml's today, she says she wants me to be able to eat normally for a while and then she'll slowly start filling again. To be honest, it was a great day. I could eat, I could drink and I didn't hurt or spew. Here's to hoping that I can sleep tonight without being woken up with acid coming up my throat. I'm scared of gaining weight. I'm going to continue to watch portions and make the better choices and keep exercising regularly. It is a process and I guess I'm processing! Congratulations to all.
  24. Thanks for the info. And no, Nature Valley granola bars are not OK for a snack. As you can read on the box and on each wrapped bar, the 2 bars in each packet are: Calories 190 Calories from Fat 54 Total Fat 6g 9% Saturated Fat 0.5g 2% Sodium 160mg 7% Carbohydrates 29g 10% Dietary Fiber 2g 8% Sugars 12g Protein 4g Anything that is 190 calories that has only 4 grams of protein is AWFUL. Even for a slim person. I am in maintenance (not trying to lose weight) and I would never eat this food even now -- much less when I was trying to lose weight.
  25. I also take the bariatriac advantage chocolate chews- $10 a bag for 60- not too bad! Kinda tastes like a tootsie roll! =]
