Seriously 12 days out and not losing!
Christy5913 replied to blu2020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@blu2020 I have to agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl, you are still swollen and your body is recovering. My experience was massive weight loss in the first 8 days and then a stall which lasted about 5. Also, I know this is TMI but I didn't poop until about day 10, so there are lots of things going on. As long as you are following your program, your weight loss will pick up again Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
A TMI moment for you. I've always joked that I'm hung like a Japanese pornstar. Imagine my surprise when I look down at my morning wood and my penis is longer! I immediately call in Jeanna to enjoy this "miracle"! She comes in and deflates my excitement by saying that it isn't.???? That is when I realized that perspective is everything, my junk isn't bigger, my belly is smaller! Heck yeah! A win is a win and I'll take it!

Stomach aches/ 45 days post op
YumiMumi replied to sammywammy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Sammywammy, I'm 5 months out and promise you it does get better, albeit slowly!! Along my journey I have experienced stomach aches, shocker tummy rumbles, terrible (sorry tmi) smelly wind, PLUS many trips to the bathroom , nausea, stopping on the side of the road to vomit and the odd occurance of dumping. I still sometimes eat something (or a combination of foods) that makes me feel queezy or that sends me to he bathroom in a hurry. The first year is trial and error, and everyone is different about what they can tolerate. Some weeks it feels like Im back to square one and can barely get anything down, then the next week Im eating like a horse (well a small horse thats had GBP ). I now have some "safe" foods that I fall back on. You will find yours in due time. -
I had gastric bypass on july 27 2016. First 3 weeks were tough with the eating (broth/soups) and learning to sip my Water. However I felt I was getting the hang of it. I went to my 3 week post op appt and I was down 30 pounds!! I couldnt believe it. The middle of my 4th week I started to introduce new foods and I have noticed I can't keep anything in. This is TMI but I have constant diarrhea Anytime I eat something 20 mins later, my stomach starts turning, I have to go to the restroom. I have not been able to intake all my Protein all though I do try. I can not tolerate the smell. I force myself to drink the shakes. Also I do stay hydrated and am drinking all my water and take my Vitamins. I was working out doing cardio and floor exercises now I feel like I have no energy. Any one else going thru anything like this. Does it stop? What can I take for an upset stomach?? Any advise??? ♡sammywammy ????

I had my Sleeve done four years ago. I still get sick if I eat too fast or something not good for me. I don't usually throw up any food mostly the slime or more like releasing a large burp but it is not a burp, my stomach clinches like I am Throwing up. (I know TMI) I know the obvious answer would be to just eat slower and better selections. I guess I am wondering if this is normal so far out of surgery. This does not happen all the time, sometimes I go a month or so without getting sick and then like now it is an everyday occurrence. I had a scope a few months ago to see if there was a blockage that is causing this but they said it was all clear. Please any advise would help, or is this just normal? I have lost 130 lbs from my surgery weight. Thanks David

cast iron pre-op stomach = cast iron sleeve?
lexiemustang replied to silverwhitemoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a cast Iron stomach before surgery. Very rarely would food make me ill. Post op, things don't make me "sick" per se (no nausea, vomiting) but I never know what will send me to the bathroom. And it changes from day to day. Also, before surgery (sorry if TMI), but if I had to have a BM and I was out in public/mall/running/shopping/whatever, I could "hold" it until I got home. Not anymore - gotta go gotta go! And sometimes when I gotta go, my tummy cramps. I definitely didn't have that kind of urgency pre-op. As far as complications are concerned, my recovery was fabulous. I didn't feel bad at all. My gallbladder did have to be taken out about 9 months post-op. -

susie66 replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, I thought I was the only one. TMI (especially for you guys) but I have an IUD so no periods. Since surgery on 28 June, I have had 3 very heavy, very long periods. So three periods in 8 weeks, which is not normal. I am making an appt today with my gyn. -
3rd Week Post Op, lower belly cramping
laney replied to Crystal Ann Keister's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
My Dr put me on stool softener day after surgery. I take 2 a day and I have to say they helped. You do not want to strain. My first BM after surgery was a killer, but once I started with the stool softener it became better. (TMI) sorry -
female only No Sex Drive/Desire after Sleeve 9 months Post Op
Cutepretty1 posted a topic in The Gals' Room
Hi, I apologize in advance if this is TMI. I had my sleeve done December 2105. Prior to my sleeve I wanted to have sex anytime, anywhere, etc. Since my surgery I have not had the desire. I am dry and it takes a while to have an orgasm sometimes I do not reach climax. I have seen topics on the board in which other women are having this issue but not seen where anyone indicates there was resolution. This post is meant for women in which their libido has decreased and has not returned. No offense it is not intended for women in which "oh my sex drive is through the roof since surgery". Congrats to you but I am wanting advice on how to proceed. It's been almost 9 months and I am not feeling sex. I have an appointment with my gyno this week but I have a hubby I need to tend too. -
My 3-week stall only lasted 4 days? And now I'm dropping weight like crazy?
Hiraeth replied to Hiraeth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh, that makes sense! I was not eating a lot of sodium, but I think I was holding a lot of water because of my period. I was 5 weeks late for my period because I have PCOS and I stopped taking my birth control. I shouldn't have stopped it, but I'm worried that it makes me gain weight. I actually had to stop taking my Xarelto (given to me after surgery) for 2 days because I was bleeding PROFUSELY. I felt weak and there was blood all in my bed, all in my floor, all in my bathtub and probably half a pint in the toilet. It was awful. It looked like a murder scene. Sorry for the TMI, lol. -
My 3-week stall only lasted 4 days? And now I'm dropping weight like crazy?
Hiraeth posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, I hit my 3-week stall on Wednesday, and now it's Sunday. My stall has already vanished and I've lost an extra FOUR pounds since yesterday. Is this even normal? Yesterday, I did eat a TON of Protein. I mean, I ate so much that I thought I screwed up my diet. I ate like 5 pieces of beef tataki and 5 pieces of crab sticks. This is a lot to me considering it made me feel extremely full. I'm hoping my scale isn't wrong. I got on it 3 times and it keeps saying the same thing (229), and yesterday I weighed 232. It's my 4th day of PMSing so maybe the Water I was retaining has shed off of me, and I also had my first bowel movement yesterday since 3 days ago, (sorry TMI). Am I getting my hopes up? Or is this even possible? -
Lots of walking yesterday and today.About 300 yds, x8. Had some minor issues w/cramping, so keeping me another night. Did have a runny BM; that helped. I was dreading that, glad to have it behind me, as it were. (TMI? too bad, you are in the wrong thread.) Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm having bypass Monday 8/29 my surgeon wants all women who have periods to take multivitamin with iron. Most take flintstones chewable. I have found that I CAN NOT take them. Because I can not have a bowel movement while on them. I've had lifelong issues with constipation I'm already taking Linzess, pro biotics, stool softeners and benefiber. With the vitamins I TMI alert-went 5 days without going then when I did I strained for over an hour with rock hard stool and I actually bled. YIKES!! Talked to pharmacist and she said the easier o digest iron is extended release so probably won't work for bypass pts. Yes I will talk to my dr after Monday but I just wondered has anyone had these same problems with iron and if so what did you do? Bye-I am 51 yo so shouldn't even get my period much longer and my blood work has never shown low iron before.

Phantom poo
byebyedarkpassenger replied to Hippie72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope but love the term :phantom pooo:! Could it be constipation? Is your poo more solid than it was before surgery? That may cause your symptoms. I'm just about a year out. Right after surgery I only went #2 every 4-5 days, then was very constipated for a couple of months (rock-hard poo), then got ridiculously gassy for a few months until I practically eliminated breads, and am now back to normal both with regularity and consistency. Sorry if this is TMI. -
Constipated. What the heck.
mi75 replied to madisunshine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just continue what you're doing. your system is reeling right about now. AND you likely aren't eating ruffage or veg at this point. it's pretty normal. i did the clear fiber powder and mixed it in everything i drank. TMI: my innards didn't work complete normally for about 4 months post op when i finally started eating most foods again! plus i was taking some supplemental Iron which did me in too!!! if this continues just talk to your bari doc. they have heard it before! -
Feeling like I should see my doctor.
HeavenlyGirl101 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
TMI disclaimer: I can't stop the diarrhea and cramping. It occurs every time I drink or eat something. Is this normal? I'm scared of becoming dehydrated. I don't have a doctor in the states as I had my surgery in Mexico. Is anyone else experiencing/ experienced this problem? Sent from my Nexus 6 using the BariatricPal App -
3rd day in hospital\Unable to pass Gas\VSG
#9grammy replied to TransformeVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been on liquids a while? I was on 2 weeks liquids before my surgery one week before clear liquids. How much of a bowel movement can you do on a liquid diet. I went a week out before, yeah tmi I went, but not much at all. I did pass some gas, I too was in hospital 3 long nights agree on the pain meds, they cause lots of back ups. Maybe it's effecting the gas also? Try going off them and use Tylenol. A lot of us went off pain pills first day or two, some longer. Welcome to the weight loss world! -
Did you sweat less after surgery?
TWW200 replied to Nikkinee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Did you sweat less after surgery?
Kym Preslar replied to Nikkinee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 8 months out and I used to sweat really bad even in an air conditioned room. Now I don't sweat as bad but I have always been a sweater. This may be TMI but I used to sweat bad between my legs. Now I can go all day without my pants being wet. Loving it! -
Wow a lot going on with everyone sorry to hear the sad news , but everyone try to stay positive & I forgot how to post pics so now I have to learn & remember how , but I am trying to catch up,like I said I will pop in every once in awhile . I still was dancing & doing Karoke , and having fun. However I haven't been on because I was really busy and started couponning because I was on Disability since March so had to cut down on a lot of stuff & spending a lot of time with family doing stuff for them. I was at work one night & my leg started hurting then it felt like it was on fire inside could barely walk coworker said go home stubborn me finished my shift went to get up to use the restroom ya I know TMI, but I fell & had to crawl & pulled myself up then got off the pot & stepped & fell again so I crawled back to my room & called into work then the Doctor , luckily got in that day. So like I said I was on Disability form March till the 1st of this month oh I forgot to mention that the Doctor did the cortisone shot in my knee in the bone also I have a little fluid in my knee but their not concerned with it. So I thought no problem I can dance, walk so I can go back to work. WELL after standing for 8 hrs even with my hour lunch break I was in excruciating pain & crying when I left work because it hurt so bad so back to the Doctor I went after a week working and back on Disability. Now I have to see a neurologist because their thinking it has something to do with my system my nerves. When I first went to my PCP for the pain to find out what was happening they told me I have athoritus all in my Left side & in my tendons, otherwise things are good except being off my feet & not moving like I was unfortunately I gained but I am having trouble getting it back off & I have tried what We usually say or suggest, so I'm not sure but I think my thyroid is acting up again so back on synthesis for a bit but I doubt I will have to stop ever taking it completely . So now you all know what had happened & what I'd happening with me so far, I will check in every once in awhile as right now a lot going on & I don't have the time I did because it's usually something with my Boy's or doing things for my Mother since I'm home now with them , they don't seem to miss me like they did when I'm working Lol because I know they miss me then because they will spend time with me & ask me to cook and tell me they miss my cooking lol. Like I said though now I have caught you all up.

Great response. I'm pre-op and after my own research I learned that skin is ruined if it's stretched out so yeah.....I'd rather loose it fast but I agree with all of what u said here. I want to be small and I don't think skin matters. I do it in the dark as it is already lol. Atleast now I'll be able to fit into the lingerie and shape wear I want. Sorry for the tmi Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

Oranges 1 month pre-op
reducer623 replied to Elizabethb36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely too much sugar. I tried a mango smoothie (Mango Lasi) and I was glued in the restroom for 30 mins (excuse the TMI). The sugar can make you dump. I've surely learned my lesson. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I am a month out of vsg and am dealing with very hard, dry bm. Any advice?

TMI POST- Constipation
ppressey24 replied to LA_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, i know how you feel. I havent even had my surgery yet but suffers from severe constipation. My gastrologist had to put me on Linzess for constipation. But if i dont get my water in, i get severely constipated. You literally can feel the stool inside your stomach. But when trying to pass it, sometimes the stool is so hard that it makes me bleed. So through this process, i started taking Probiotics and it helps so much. I realize this maybe TMI, but its part of life. Happy passing Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Have you spoken to your surgeon or NUT about eating veggies if they are steamed and EXTREMELY soft? I was eating veggies at 3 weeks post-op, but I made sure that they were super-soft. A few bites and full. I did stay away from extremely fibrous veggies like celery or asparagus, but broccoli and carrots were fine as long as I only ate the florets and again, made sure they were super soft. If you do get clearance for some veggies, as with any food, take a bite and wait a few minutes to see how your sleeve accepts it before taking more. I also obsessed over the scale in the beginning, and I've quickly come to the realization that our weight changes throughout the day by a few ounces to even a pound or two. For instance I learned quickly that you weight about a pound or so more after a shower, even after you dry off because your skin retains some of the moisture..lol...I always freaked out about that. The best thing to do for me was to weigh in once a week, and try to do it at the exact same time of day. I chose to do it right when I wake up (after using the restroom...lol...tmi I know but that liquid can actually be enough to impact the scale). This allowed me to not be so obsessive throughout the day. Since starting this, and making the decision to make my diet consist of whole foods, the only thing I count anymore is Protein, as I feel as though everything else is coming from healthy sources of food. I workout 5 times a week also, and that has helped me tremendously as well. It keeps my mind busy and helps me stay positive knowing I'm doing the right things to succeed so that, at the end of the week when I weigh, even if it's not as much loss as I want to see, I know I'm making the right choices it motivates me to continue on that path. Try some new things. Take it slow. Whenever you have questions, speak with your surgeon/NUT. They are there to help you. Don't wait for things to get "back to normal". Create your own normal. Do that and you'll find YOUR OWN path to success!! Best of luck!
