    Yes. Mine was postponed 1 week. I was supposed to have it 7/12/19 but insurance asked for something additional. At 1st I was upset but it was for the best because I honestly needed that additional week to calm my nerves and get my s^%# together. I’m going in tomorrow 6:00 a.m. Try not to worry too much. The hospital usually know how to work with the ins.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

    Thanks for the kind words and thanks for understanding my drive to keep going. I think that had I been obese my whole life, this would be a great stopping point for me, but I’m still 35-40 pounds heavier than my college weight— and that was about 5-10 pounds over my all-time-low from my sophomore year of college. What’s funny is that when I was in my late teens and early 20’s, I felt so “fat” when my weight got over 125. And I’m 5’7”! Yeah, I’m 30 years older. Yeah, I’ve had 2 kids.... I get all that. But I just know in my heart of hearts that I’ve got at least another 25-ish pounds left in me to go. Today I’m 172.4 (had a 1.6 pound bounce this week) and I’m shooting for an ultimate goal of 145-ish (plus or minus a few on either side for maintenance). That still puts me 10-15 higher than when I was 23.
  4. Thanks so much for posting your experiment. Okay, so I just came off of losing 10 pounds in 3 weeks, which is the most I’ve lost per week since the first month. Weighed in this morning (no poop for 3 days and counting) and I’m up 1.6 pounds since a week ago. Lol, that 1.6 pound bounce put me at my average monthly average of 8-9 pounds, so I’m not gonna hit the panic button just yet. Especially since things are a bit....backed up, so to speak. Today I extended my fasting window and just now (3pm my time) gobbled down some lunch. Pure protein bomb at 44 gm and under 300 calories. I’ll make sure to have dinner finished by 7 so I’ll end up with a 20:4. Also did 2 Pilates classes and felt great, but admittedly pretty hungry by the time I got lunch ready. Tomorrow I’ll go back to 16:8 and then restrict back to 20:4 Tuesday. Plan on weighing in Wednesday am and see if that budges the scale any. I went from 170.8 to 172.4. Dammit I was soooooooo close to hitting the 160’s. My goal is to see 160-anything by this time next week.
  5. Had ESG in Sept 2018. I went from 204 to 121lbs in 10 months. Yay!! Only was really shooting for 155 but I feel good at 121 but could certainly stand to get some muscle back and probably put on a little weight ( I’m 5’7”). So I’ve begun walking and doing some weight training the last couple weeks. All was hood the first week or two as I wasn’t real consistent. I was eating around 1600 cal as that was helping me maintain my weight at least. Then I weighed myself Friday and I was 118!!! I know I need to eat more calories but not sure exactly how much. I know I can play with it and see what works but I also have a hard time upping the calories. At 1600-1700 I feel like I eat all day. Ideas?

  7. I really think ADF should be the suggestion for anyone suffering from a prolonged stall. (Given that one is already maintaining low carb diet. Exercising also helps, with shifting as much exercise as possible into a fasting period of the day.) And of course if someone can do some kind of 16/8, 14/10, or even 12/12, that helps so much in burning fat storage.

    Pain post op?

    Livelychick thanks for sharing this issue. I'm scheduled for surgery 8/29/19 and although I'm so, so sorry you're in pain, I want to know every possible setback that could occur. I've read the other responses and I hope that provides relief. By you opening up, I'm getting information that I hadn't yet received. I'm being told to consumer 64 ounces of water per day and 40 grams of protein. Now I know that just might not be possible at first but I will get there. Thanks again for sharing and I truly hope you feel better soon.
  10. So I am reporting back after a week of alternate day restricted calorie IF. Prior to this week I was averaging about 700 per day and just feeling stuck. This past week my calorie intake (still very low carb) has been 500, 1015, 530, 1175, 540, 1165, 400. That averages 760/day - about what I was eating before. BUT...... TA DA! I LOST 6 POUNDS and met goal weight in the process! That is simply amazing to me. It was quite easy to do. The restricted days were easiest, because I knew I would be eating more the next day. The high calorie days were actually quite uncomfortable, as it was very hard to get those calories into an 8-10 hour window. I was more full than I would have liked, but kept going for the sake of the experiment. I did my exercises every single day, although alternated with light and heavier weights, rather than skipping days altogether. I also tried to get my exercise in during the fasting times for more fat burning. Bottom line: IF is a very powerful tool. 16/8 is great. It does a LOT. But alternating day caloric restriction just shoves it into a whole new gear. I will keep this up for 5 more pounds, then change to 5:2. I'd like to add a weekly 24 hour fast as well.

    I had rny gastric bypass in 2001. Went from 516 to 175. Then I started gaining again. Old habits are hard to break. Cokes and pizza. Now Im scheduled for revision on 8/23/19. I feel so ashamed.     NSV's Spring 2019 Edition

    Wooohoooo everyone! I just found this thread! Is it still in effect for Summer 2019? I rarely do the NSVs, cuz everyday feels like an NSV to me these days and I don't wanna hog the NSV threads! But I had to share this cuz I just had a realization! For the last 2 mornings, I "ran" for 60 minutes and 65 minutes continuous at a 3mph (about 5kph) rate. That means, I ran 3.1m yesterday and 3.2m today and guess what? That's a freaking 5K!!! Wooot! I will take that any day of the week!! Yay me. NSV!

    Depression

    Yes, it's very common. It will pass! Do mindful things for yourself to help get through it! 1. Sunlight every day--exercise/walk outside if you can and also supp Vitamin D and Vit C. 2. EXERCISE hard every day--walk fast if that's all you got. 3. Eat healthy! Maintain good control over what goes down your piehole and cut out any crap if you're eating it. IT helps you feel successful. 4. Watch comedies. Laugh a lot. 5. Deep breathe--especially when you're in the middle of an episode of sadness. Google Four Square Breathing. 6. Develop a network of friends and likeminded people. 7. Get a creative outlet, even if it's coloring on your mobile phone! 8. Get enough sleep! Work on developing good sleep hygiene so you really get deep sleep. 9. Focus on happy thoughts, on the future, on victory. 10. Stand in front of your mirror in a super hero pose for 60 seconds each day and imagine yourself winning the day and being happy.

    Pain post op?

    Just sleeved on 8/12/19. Everyone talks about moderate pain, but holy moly, mine's not moderate when I try to stand or sit or bend or do anything that requires core muscles. It burns behind the 'big' incision, and I have to use my arms and other people to stand up. Tonight, the stabbing pain had me in tears as i tried to stand up from the couch. And coughing??? I feel like someone is stabbing a knife in my abdomen. I told the surgeon this on Thursday, and they seemed unconcerned--but it feels odd that I'm seemingly the only one who is experiencing this. (Fwiw, I've got a hella high pain threshold.) It is getting a little better each day, but then something will happen that makes it come back hard again. Anyone else experiencing this?     Looking into skin removal

    P.S. I agree with the poster who suggested looking at realself. I spent a lot of time looking at that and also researching some surgeons people had talked about here on BP. I came up with a short list of about 10 people, then I narrowed it down to three to do consults with. I would recommend doing more than one consult because some surgeons will have very different ideas about what to do than others will. I found the consults really interesting and educational. Most surgeons now seem to charge a nominal fee for consults - like around $100 or so - but they'll apply that to your surgery if you go with them. It's worth it, even if you pay consult fees to some surgeons you end up not going with.

    Nervous about revision

    I'm sorry for all you have been going through. I also have a sliding haital hernia, by the way. Makes it possible to eat well some days and some other days, I can't get anything down. Since you had a hernia before the sleeve and it is back now, if repaired again without converting to the bypass, according to my surgery, the hernia will likely return in 3-5 years, unless your diaphragm is supported with a mesh filter. Making the decision to have any WLS is difficult enough, let alone having to decide on a revision. It really comes down to quality of life, from what I've experienced and heard in support group for months now. If you feel you can manage your reflux well enough with medication, then maybe surgery is not worth the risk but acid reflux could lead to other things down the line... In my case, there is a plethora of reasons for revision, so that in a way, has made it easier to decide (scheduled for 9/9/19). Also, regarding your main concern (dumping), I actually have that now with the sleeve (maybe 3-4 times a month). It happens when I make poor choices (high sugar or high fat). Yes, it's more likely to happen with the bypass, but I think managing our intake regardless of surgery type is key to preventing uncomfortable dumping situations. I'll have surgery just 10 days before you, so if you'd like, let's keep in touch and I'll let you know how it goes! I am most likely to have an open surgery (surgeon will try laparoscopic first) due to an obstruction in my sleeve, ulcers, and scar tissue buildup being 7+ years out, so my recovery may be a bit different/lengthy.

    SCARED OUT OF MIND!!!

    Omg, yes! I was absolutely terrified of the same thing and I've had probably 10 surgeries. I bawled in front of my family, PA, surgeon and the nurses. They were all so helpful and caring. My suggestion is to ask if you can take some kind of anti-anxiety medication before surgery to help keep you relaxed. I should have asked if I could have done that myself. Best wishes on your surgery, it is so worth it!💗
  21. It's just the 2 weeks, was required to buy one box a week during 6 month diet which honestly I didn't do well with. The New Direction bars not so bad and chili was okay. The shakes though are horrid. I managed to choke down most of one of the lemon puddings with Fiber today then chase it with broth due to aftertaste. I think tomorrow I am going to try hunt down the Premier Protein locally because I feel like I am starving. I am making sure to get my water and liquids to not dehydrate but this is day 5 and hoping we get surgery date 8/26/19. My surgeon changed hospitals at the end of the 6 month diet so had to wait almost 2 months longer. Plus, still waiting on BC/BS with final approval which should happen by tomorrow since file was marked urgent. Then doctor order his instruments and not sure if they are in. So very stressful this journey. Thanks for all the advise!
  22. I’m about 7 weeks post-op and after losing 15 lbs in the first 10 days after surgery I’ve lost less than 5 lbs in the almost 6 weeks since. I know that stalls are common but this seems excessively long so early on. I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong and am getting really dejected. I track my food meticulously and have been averaging around 600 or 700 calories a day, never more than 800, and walk about 2 miles most days. I feel like it might be hormonal since I have PCOS which has caused issues in the past. Has anyone else had this happen and how did you break out of it?
  23. I know that we are starting to gain momentum in the August club. How is everyone doing? Have you gone back to work yet? How are you getting in your fluids and protein? I was sleeved on Wednesday 8/14. Yesterday was my first day home, and it was rough! I keep sip sip sipping but I know o am falling short on intake. I took a shower by myself just now, and I can get up and down off the sofa and our of my chair with only a moment of sharp pain. I hope everyone else is doing well

She said I need to work harder to get my water in and to increase my protein intake and that should help me start losing again.
