  1. I know I just posted recently, but I had another NSV today! I was at the gas station & didn't need to open my door to reach down to open the fuel door. I read this NSV on here from other posters before & remembered knowing exactly what they meant. It is so nice to be noticing all these little things now.
  2. Yes! I had a blue handbag in storage which, even with the strap extended as long as it could, would sit waaaay too close to my armpit pre-surgery. Now it sits at my hip. The downside is that it's spent SO long in storage the faux leather is starting to disintegrate. The NSV that got away!
  3. I have a few NSV's to share!😁 Yesterday, I went to a restaurant that I went to before surgery. We sat outside in patio chairs, and I had no problem sitting in the chair, the arms of the chair were not cutting into the sides of my thighs. (I still don't trust those plastic white ones, though.) Also, yesterday, a neighbor asked if I lost weight & said I looked great. It was surprising to hear from someone who doesn't know about my surgery. It was also the first time I heard anything from someone who didn't know. Today, I tried on the bridesmaid dress I will be wearing for my brother's wedding in April. At the end of September, I ordered a size 16 even though I couldn't quite zip it, hoping that by April it would fit, or possibly need to be taken in. Well, it zipped with a little room! Another NSV is my shirts are getting very baggy on me. I am trying to hold off on buying lots of clothes in between sizes, but every time I wear something lately, I feel like it may be the last time. (Although, I guess this isn't really a weird NSV🤷‍♀️) BTW- I love reading everyone's NSV's and can relate to so many of them. It is so nice to hear about other's progress & really start seeing some of my own. 🤗
  4. Another weird NSV but shopping less and having a fuller pantry. Because of how little I can eat, I don't need to buy groceries like I used to. I use to spend so much money on groceries and go through them within a week because I ate so much. But now I'm spending less money and my pantry is fuller longer. It almost feels like a bariatric super power as I see my roommate buy hundreds of dollars worth of groceries and go through it within a week! I can make one 100 dollar trip last 20 days! Of course I spend a fortune ordering my fairlife shakes online hahaha Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Wonderful to see all my positive friends here.... Great idea for a fun thread. BT. Welcome to the club and not for one minute have you not really belonged. You are MY true inspiration. (maybe if I had had a heart problem I would have been as motivated as you). You are doing AWESOME!!!! Be ready for the surgery pain. GAS, Bloating and weird head for 2 days. By Friday you will feel good and be off to the races. Enjoy that loaf of bread!!!! I had a weird week. After hitting 299, the scale went up 9 pounds. (Water retention??) I had salty Peanut Butter pretzels this week, and salty buffalo chicken nuggets and forgot my BP meds for a few days. But this morning, it showed 300.2 before going to the gym so I am back to even. (I think I was dehydrated at the 299 day, as I had just gone to the gym and worked out for an hour then sat in a steam room). Best NSV's: I now wear XL tee shirts, and 46 jeans, but I can actually button and zip 44 size Levi's and bought them at Kohl's not Casual Male... I keep having to put new holes in my favorite belts. I had to buy a leather hole puncher. I can wear a pair of size 12 Nikes that used to be too small. Funny how your feet shrink too. I noticed I sit a lot farther back from the steering wheel in my car. Funny huh... I am flying tomorrow, and despite not being upgraded yet (I fly so much I have top status) I selected an exit row seat that has more leg room. I usually could not, as I had to use a belt extender. Not anymore!!! I stopped counting calories and exercise cause I have figured it out in my head how to live without having to be anal about it. I still watch calories and exercise a lot (45 min to an hour on an eliptical, six days a week) I can eat out, and do so often. I have had 2 fills and feel some restriction and feel close to PB if I eat too fast. I don't have head hunger often, and when I do, I have figured out substitutes (sugar free Jello, pudding and popsicles) that work for me. Best of all, I eat real food. Had a steak last night. 7 oz filet instead of a 22 oz ribeye. I alway eat on a small plate and cut food small and eat slow. I have had ribs, chicken, mexican, and a just about every other type food. Just a lot less. The band has changed me. All for the good. I read this site everyday and love the positive posts. I angst sometimes over the drama posts and the needy people, but sorry, that may be a guy thing. You guys are all terrific cause ALL of you have made a choice to change your life. We are really a small minority of the obese, overweight America (and other countries) that have chosen to fight our issues. We are the people that will succeed. OK, we need supportive people around to help and also to validate. But we will all live longer, more fun lives because we are here doing this. You guys and girls are awesome... Keep it up!! TJ
  6. NSV's: No more blood pressure medication Economy class airline seats aren't that small anymore
  7. New NSVs! I now fit into all the clothes I stashed away after getting too big for them. I tried on my wedding dress yesterday - and it fit me! Here is the weird one: I can see my thigh "saddle bags" that used to bother me so much. I love them now because they are a symbol of my body taking shape now that they are no longer blending into and being covered by other extra fat.
  8. I'm still amazing that towels fit around me! This is a GREAT NSV. Good job! Sent from my Pixel 5a using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Hummingbird-- CONGRATS on your NSV! That had to be a great feeling coming from your son!! It's different when it's a loved one that sees you all the time. It means so much more (but hey, nice to hear anyone say how great you're looking LOL) Stacie--I'm so sorry to hear about Jeff. I have been saying prayers. Just terrible and I'm so sorry. And no matter WHAT, you will NOT fail. You aren't able to!!! And to make you feel better, the weeks where I really watch what I eat and exercise a lot, I either stay the same or gain. I attribute it to the whole fat turning to muscle thing LOL. Makes me feel better that way. Bob-- LOVE the ticket to Onederland! Just awesome! Christie--so when does your little man come back (or did he already?) Donna--don't worry about the gain right now. It's early--trust me, you will see the numbers move in the other direction very soon, I promise. Leigha--I have to agree with everyone here. You look absolutely AMAZING! If you don't lose another pound, you have made it, my friend! We're all super proud of you!!! You have worked so hard and honestly, you are a poster child of success!!! Denise--Safe travels to Florida and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I have a baby shower on Sunday too (wish mine was in Florida--sniff sniff). Soooo, OF COURSE I haven't made a purchase in, oh about TWO freaking weeks, so what did I go out and do today? Yup, bought a freaking iPad! I thought of you also as I was setting it up LOL Too funny. Told the hubs I won it at work to avoid any issues (taking it from my funny money so he won't even know ) Thankfully, I am able to eat a little better today. Still need to take my time, but I'm not in excruciating pain like I was over the weekend. I have actually had only 3 small meals today!!!! I'm shocked! LOL I was prepared to need a small snack, but nope. I did great! SO excited--I found TROP-A-ROCKA!!! It's that Snapple flavor Bret Michaels created in the last season of Celebrity Apprentice! I was in a store I never ever go to because I just needed to grab bread on the way home from the bank and BAM! One lonely six pack of it was staring me in the face! It was y-u-m-m-y!! 10 calories for a whole bottle!! Yeah! Jordyn, my daughter, did very well yesterday getting all that dental work done (she had to be put to sleep to have it done). She woke up so sleepy and cuddly. She's 4, so she's already my little baby, but she was suuuuper cuddly yesterday. I had a great day just holding her and taking care of her. I really missed her when I went back to work today. Hope everyone is having a great week! SO excited that I get to run a webinar at 8 pm for our client in Japan. Come on Friday! Hubby and I have tickets to see Tom Petty on Saturday night. Can't wait!!!
  10. Elfie-- congrats on the NSV! 35 pounds since your last visit--that's just awesome!!!!
  11. Leigha-you look AWESOME! I personally don't think anyone needs to be a 2. I forgot to tell you all of my NSV and you reminded me. I went shopping this weekend and decided for shits and giggles that I would see how far I was from a size 12 jeans....and they FIT! Not even the too tight gonna have to zip them with pliers . Denise-chinese does that to me every time! Must be all the salt or something
  12. Bobbie!!!! I'm so glad everything is okay! It sounds like while you've had a lot going on, there has been some really good things happening! Wooohoo on onederland girl, you go!!!! Congrats on both your scale and NSVs. You've done so amazingly well considering you haven't been able to be seen by the doctor in awhile. Hope time flies until Nov 1 when your new insurance kicks in. Congrats on the new job!!!! Great to 'see' you!
  13. Shammah--Happy Anniversary! Sandy-- We are glad your here. Jacki-- Congrats on the 10's, BTW what is a Wawa? Dottie-- You can always put the puzzle back in the box, leaving big chunks together and go back to it later if you feel like it. Oh and I get your chat messages on FB but when I try and reply it says you are offline! Yesterday when I was running there was a dead monkey beside the road. Y'all are saved from a picture since I was not suppose to stop. That is probably the strangest thing I have ever seen while running. NSV alert! My thighs no longer touch when I am standing with my feet at shoulder width. I was at least 23 the last time that happened.:waytogo::biggrin: My husband congratulated me on my thriftiness yesterday. (I am still not sure this is a complement.) He said "Way to go on getting a two-fer on your surgery!" So when I asked what he meant he said "A lap band and a breast reduction! Anyone want to borrow a smartass for a while?
  14. Well I made it. I was banded on the first and now I am counting down until I can get my first fill. I am starving!! I had a great nsv today put on my jeans and they are so loose!! Excited to meet everyone.
  15. LOL Leigha--I thought the same thing too when I got up this morning @ Anne's surgery being today. So glad we didn't miss the chance to say good luck! We're glad you're still here with us, Anne! Leigha, a wawa is a convenient store we have here on the east coast (like a 7-11 type). Sodas, subs, cigs (yuk), coffee, candy, things like that. There is almost one on every corner. You are doing freaking awesome with the running! Go girl!!! I am so excited to hear about that NSV! I wonder if my thighs will always touch at this point. You never know, but it's good to know of someone that is able to say theirs don't anymore, so you are going to be my inspiration and hope LOL! My husband is quite the smart ass too. And what is up with all the boob comments? My hubby is mad that I'm down to a 38D. I can finally shop at Victoria's Secret and he's mad???? Far cry from my 46F, but whatever. I am no longer hunchback LOL! Ummm, okay I would have been totally freaked by that dead monkey btw. HB---niiiiice!!! I'd certainly consider THAT an NSV. Very cool! LOVE the comforter set by the way. Bobbie--wanna have a slumber party at Crystl's? I'll bring the margaritas ! Jacki--congrats on getting into those 10s and zipping them up! That's an awesome feeling!! I bet in no time at all, they will turn out to be your 'comfy' jeans :-)! I am about 20 minutes from the Phila zoo too---I can't believe what a small world it is! Shammah-- Happy (belated) anniversary and congrats on 7 years of marriage! May you have a hundred more :-) Love the pic! You look great and you can see a major difference! Keep up the great work! Dottie--Don't give up on that puzzle! Maybe if you do it like Leigha says and doing it in small bits, heck you can make it into two 1,000 piece puzzles :-)! Stacie--Half way there!!! WOW! You should be SO proud of yourself! All your hard work is paying off! Christie--glad you're feeling better. More importantly, glad you're able to EAT again!!! Denise--I'm both jealous and inspired by you. 5 lbs to goal! You are amazing! How about this freaking thread about following the rules? Spartan surely handed them their a$$. Holy crap! Sometimes I think people try to stir the pot and start things like that. Not a full blown troll, but someone that likes to ignite a good sized debate. I think a lot of them are forgetting the purpose of the board in the first place. Thank God we have this thread. It's too easy to get caught up in the negative stuff. Really and truly.
  16. I know I've been absent from this thread, and I'm so sorry -- It sounds like everyone is doing well! I just had to pop in to share a recent NSV with folks who understand. I'm currently wearing size 12 jeans that I bought about a month ago from Old Navy. (My last pair of new jeans was a 17 from Target, and they were exciting to fit into back in, oh, it was March, I think?!) I picked up a size 10 when I bought these 12s. What the heck, right?! The 12s have been getting baggy, and so Saturday, while dressing to head to the Philadelphia Zoo, I figured it was time to try them on again. You know how you keep trying every few days and there ain't no way, no how? Well, I got them on! Zipped, buttoned and everything. 'Course I could only wear them for about 30 minutes before I either had to pass out or decide I wanted to wear my comfy shorts instead. Ha! But I did it! :waytogo: Now it won't be long before I fit into the 9s I have hanging by my refrigerator! I stare at them every day and dream. Woohoo for NSVs! I've been riding my bike to work every single day. 9 - 12 miles depending on if I need a Wawa fix or not. That's a little Mid-Atlantic love for you, right there. I love my Wawa. Also, my work schedule is different now until September, so I can fit in more classes at the gym. Tonight I'm going to explore a Yogalates class. I am so excited. Two things I love, rolled into one! Hope you're all having a great Monday! Ten days until I get a little break from work for a few days. w00t! We're putting up our pool and I want to do nothing but ME. No work, no volunteering, just ME!

Pinky --I might be able to make lunch this week at Nifa's. I have an interview at 2 p.m. It will depend the location of my interview. I also agree that I need to stop living by the scale. I think I'm at a small plateu and I will get through this. Congrats to everyone having NSV this week. Vegas --sounds like a girls weekend out!!! Looking forward to it. Barbara465 I don't know what time I will be able to fly out yet. But It would be cool if all the Houstonians can be on the same plane. Melissa Lea

Christa --congrats on your wedded bliss. You will have to post some pics for us to see. The band can be trying at times. Knock, Knock, Knock on wood --I've not had any difficulty with mine. However today --I find myself with the "munchies". I've not had this since surgery and not sure what it all about. I'm certainly not "stuffing" myself with stuff because that is now pretty much impossible. Been grazing a bit today which has never been a big habit. So I'm not worried about it --it will pass. The scales haven't moved this week but last week it went down about 3 pounds. I seem to go one week with no weight loss the next with some weight loss (all at once). Heck --I'll take it however it goes. However --I've taken several weekend trips since being banded and have dined out the whole time. Each time I come back with no weight gain and once with weight loss. That's a huge NSV for me. I could never say that pre-banded. Melissa Lea

i am assuming that nsv means non-scale victory? if not, that is what it will mean for me. that being said, i hope this one isn't tmi (too much information) but here it goes. i usually have to buy queen plus size pantyhose for sunday morning services. about one week after surgery i noticed that i had on just a pair of queen sized pantyhose and they didn't hurt in between my thighs nor did that make that annoying sound that pantyhose make when they run up against your inner thighs as you walk. i was elated over that. pre surgery, my panties used to be so tight that they cut into my upper thighs but i just refused to go buy a larger size than they already are. about a week out of surgery, and definitely now, i don't experience that anymore. no pair of panties are too tight on me. they are so comfortable. and i have alot of extra space in my bra now and my breasts aren't hanging over the sides competing for underarm space!!!

Where is everyone? I had a NSV yesterday. I went to the post office to pick up a registered letter and I had to show ID. The clerk said "Are you sure that's you?" when I showed her my driver's license. She said "You look much thinner, you must have lost a lot of weight". I didn't think I looked fat in my pic, but I guess I did. I'm still having trouble with my body image. A co-worker told me yesterday I was REALLY THIN. I still feel plump! I wonder how long it takes to realize you aren't so fat anymore.....

Pork chops- good idea!! Glad to hear you are no longer stress tight I agree poodles- you are too tight!! drinking your calories is no way to live! Of course I am not the best either, I still struggle with my sugar addiction. and its a daily struggle - I have decided that Ice Cream is in fact evil. I have great news to share- I RAN last night for the first time in over 2 years. It was not pretty but I managed to go over a mile!! this is a huge NSV for me. I was a runner before I got MO and I was hoping to get back there one day. Also on the Christmas challenge- can someone explain the "code" so I can updated my signature?

I so need another fill... I think... Totally weird, I can not eat a thing in the am, but this evening I ate 3 small pieces of thin crust pizza. Crazy... As for liquids: 40 ounces water, 32 ounces lemonade, 12 ounces coffee... Congrats to all with the NSV, Water Victories, and other accomplishments!

Fills seem to have a mind of their own. Continue to be very careful. I'm taking Barbara's advice and getting .3 for my next fill. I don't care how quickly the liquids go through. I agree about the scar tissue thing. I used to be able to feel the flat part of my port. Now what I feel first is the round edge. I can still feel the flat part angling inward--but it feels "bumpy" which must be scar tissue. Wonder if it's something to do with being over 50? I'm hoping the buildup will stop soon. I don't like to think about losing the band. I do hope to have it unfilled completely after I've lost the weight and feel confident of my eating habits. The floor installers are still here and I'm weary of them. Kept promising an early afternoon--and I need to prepare for this afternoon's students. The dogs are even getting on my nerves. Thankfully, I love the new floor. NSV--The new blouse I bought 6 weeks ago that wouldn't button (I wear sleeveless t's under open shirts) can now be buttoned. I also don't worry about shrinking anything any more. I never dried any knit top or pants, but that's not an issue any longer.

Happy Monday guys, Well I posted for the October challenge, do have a question though, the 1200 calories, it is UNDER 1200 right? I am getting a fill today and doubt if I can get 1200 in liquids in, but I'll try. OK NSV time: I actually can get into a regular size.........14, WHAHOO!!!!! I can get into the rider's stretch jeans size......12!!!!! I bought a pair a boots this weekend, the tall cute one's, I have never been able to zip them up over my calfs, well I can now..... WHAHOO! Now confession time: How come when I am home on weekends I can't seem to make myself drink water? I either drink tea or nothing. I get busy then forget I haven't drank anything. Whats up with that?
