    Another question

I fully believe that your body loses in cycles.......... the weeks you don't lose pounds you will lose inches. It takes a while for your body to catch up with itself! As for the three pounds in a few days.. could also be water.. when i don't drink enough water in a day my rings get tight and my feet swell. (and I know that the scale will reflect it too) I actually gage my water intake with how easily my ring slips around my finger.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been so confused about it because I haven't been eating anymore than I was to start with. Thankfully, my willpower has been incredible this far. I'm sure that I could eat more if I wanted. I'm worried that once I do start putting more calories in that my weight loss will surely stall. I hope not. When do you usually get your first fill?

    Plan B

Oh, and of course there was a pre-op diet. It was only for 4 days (because of my lower bmi) but I did it for a week to lessen my pre-surgery worries.

    Hello!

@@JamieLogical I am sorry to hear that Jamie. I hope things get better for you soon. Good thing you are still able to train for your marathon. I am supposed to be running a half marathon in Philly in Sept. but I am not sure I will be able to . I tore my meniscus a few months ago and I am having surgery to repair it on Tuesday. Recovery is 6 to 8 weeks. I don't think I will have enough time to prepare after my recovery. I am so bummed by this. I really am. I had just gotten to a point where I was comfortable running and doing well. Good luck to you though.

    Women HELP

I got mine the day after surgery (it was a week) early then got it again 2 weeks later. It only took a couple of months to get back on schedule but just recently (Im 9 months out) when I got mine I was 8 days early. Im just chalking it up to my body still getting used to being 94 pounds lighter. Ive recently had a 'women exam' and everything was fine so it is what it is.

    Getting banded on 12/17/15!

@bgtribble We have almost the identical stats. I am also 5' 6" and my heaviest weight was 259 pounds. As an adult I had always maintained a healthy weight for my female frame - about 145 - and was a lifeguard, canoe trip instructor, avid backpacker... never a 'small' person but fairly 'trim' and definitely healthy. I got married and had a baby and then the weight started to creep up on me... 10 pounds heavier, 20 pounds heavier... and over the past 15 years, I ballooned up to 259. Now that I'm back in 100's again I feel I have regained my 'old' Self. I'm not at goal weight yet, however I am feeling SO much better even at this interim stage of the process 65 pounds down! Like dear Bandista above (she is a guru - listen to her!) I also love food and cooking, and am able to still enjoy beautiful food and meals out... but in smaller portions. The best thing is having the background of satiety constantly there. The "Hunger Monster" that derailed my weight loss attempts in the past is no longer there. Now I have a can of tuna & mayo or a small piece of tender steak or 5 Tbsps of egg salad and that's it. Give me three slices of roast duck, a few spears of asparagus and no starch (potatoes, rice and breads are out for me) and BOOM. I'm sated. No desire for anything more. Happy for you, jiggyjiggy120 - you are about to embark on getting control back and feeling better. It's a tremendous thing!

    Running and need advice

A little back ground ..I'm on week 5 day 1 of couch 25k, it's going great and going to do color in motion fun run feb2.. Sooooo excited. I run every other day while at home with the kiddos two days a week I work double shifts as a baggage handler for united so exercise after or before work isn't going to happen believe me I get plenty while I'm there. So finally here's the question.. I'm looking for some at home strength training wether it be a routine or a video I can do on the days I run , I realistically I have to get all my excercise in on those three days, is this feasible and what are some recommendations? I tried it yesterday doing Jillian michaels trouble zone shred about 5 hours before my run and I feel like I really struggled through because of it
  10. So, one week post-op, and I am having a hard time taking in all of the fluids AND getting my Protein numbers. Great find found on the internet - Protein 2 O beyond Water. It has 0 sugar, 2 Carbs, and 15 grams of protein in 16.9 Fluid ounces! I don't know about the other flavors, but the Lemon Splash is really good. It is so much easier going down as it isn't a thick milky shake. It was $1.59 a bottle at Target. I haven't found it cheaper any place else. Since I won't be doing more that a bottle a day, that doesn't seem too bad.

How would I know if I've streched my pouch

Remember it takes 3500 calories to gain a pound. I highly doubt at 8 weeks, you can eat this much to gain weight. It could be water weight or other variables. Track your food and follow your plan. It will get easier. This is a lifestyle change. And WLS is only a tool.

    down 5 pounds this week

Ok, I have to laugh, really really hard. I had all the fill removed from my band, because of the nausia I've been fighting, so I don't have the extra protection from over-eating. (the band is purely restrictive) I've been on a rip-roaring High and so I expected to be gaining weight. I also have been drinking Rum and light fruit beverages, becuase I wanna. I've also been eating ice cream and pasta. Yes, that's right, I've been eating pasta this week! Pasta and bread, everyday! :hungry: I'm down 5 pound this week.

    Weight

Check with your insurance company, mines didnt require any..in fact i gained..but lost some during the 2 week liquid diet
  14. I also try to keep a 40/30/30 ratio for protein/carbs/fat. Don't always succeed though. I was told by my NUT to be eating between 800 and 1200 calories per day. I go to the lower end on non workout days, the higher end on workout days. I try to work out 4 to 5 days a week (again, that 5 days doesn't always happen because life gets in the way sometimes. LOL!). I Swim for 45 minutes or so twice a week, do cardio/ heavy weights twice a week and take one class called body works plus abs (which amounts to a fast and light weights) class once a week.
  15. My nut's orders and its killing me. It has no time line to decrease to 30 min either. Is this the norm? Im almost 4 weeks post op!

    Still Gobbling Food

I use an app called "Eat Slower"... you can set the timer for any amount of time up to three minutes. It starts a countdown and will vibrate or ding every three minutes (or whatever you set it to). I just sit it by my plate and it vibrates, I take a bite, chew, chew, chew then wait for the next ding. You still need small bites but it does help you learn just how slow you should be eating. Ginger
  17. So my son want to go to the state fair. This is the last week for it. My surgery date is Nov. 14th, and I started my pre-op diet of protien shakes, bars, soup, and lots of water last week. Would it be hurtful is I got one thing to eat while at the fair (preferably the onion blossom) or should I just stay away from the food competely? I already gave away my chocolate popcorn I ordered from my son's fundraiser. There is a lot of walking too at the fair. I should probably just stay away right?

OMG - I've got a Date for surgery

So as of yesterday, I had figured I wouldn't be ready for banding until late May or June. Rachel the nutritionist told me that she would send my paperwork over right away, but the decision could take up to 45 days to be made. Yesterday, I called the doctor's office and asked if they could let me know if all of my paperwork was in and if it wasn't I could get it rolling. Amanda called me and left me a message at home to call her so I called her this morning and she called me back. One of the first things, she asked me was "When do you want to have surgery". I was shocked, I had my mind set on a few months from now and here we were setting up a surgery date for 11 days from today. :clap2: I picked Brian's birthday the 24th over waiting a week till the 30th. They do the surgeries once a week, usually mondays. A. I'd always remember my surgery date B. I'm not so busy at work after the 24th C. I want to get this rolling. I'm sometimes afraid of failing this. But I have to think positive. It will all be worth it in the end. My goals are realistic and I feel ready to exercise. Brian changing his lifestyle has changed my life as well. Both for the better I believe. I don't have this dark gray cloud hanging over me and anything is possible. There is hope again in my life where there has been none for a long time. This is going to be the Best Year of My Life !!!!!

Thanks everyone, Congrats to you too Janie!! Mine is here for a visit and she is so awesome. Last time I saw her she was a week old. She is now 2 months they sure change fast. Kathy
  21. I would think if you back it up and start over it may work. Go back to all liquids, then progress up the ladder again week by week.
  22. The golden rules of band surgery were very easy initially, and now that I'm 4 years out, have gotten very difficult to maintain. I am feeling the consequences (vomiting, discomfort) and my weight loss is stalled. I have to remember that this band is a full time job, MINE. it will not moderate the small amounts, bites and chewing...social situations make the golden rules hardest. how do the rest of you manage? lisa
  23. Not sure who this was addressed to, but I'm 7 weeks out now. I have heard that 3 weeks is a common time to stall because we are adding mushies and more solid food. For me I had one stall at 4 weeks, but it coincided with a week's vacation and I did not drink my Water, get my Protein, and I just grazed all day long that week. That is the only week that I did not lose weight. What I do now is I eat 3 meals a day plus 2 Protein drinks (as per my surgeon's instructions). My meals are low carb, I eat protein first, then veggies. The first 6 months are the best time to lose the most weight, so to me it is worth it to concentrate on changing my habits and not eating the foods that made me fat in the first place. Just my 2 cents! __________________ Originally posted at www.lapbandtalk.com

    Energy.... where are you?

I struggled with serious fatigue for the first 8 weeks post-op. I took 6 weeks off from work, and fatigue continued to be a real issue for me those first 2 weeks back. I seriously took a nap every single afternoon for 6 weeks and wished I still could the 2 weeks following...
