  1. I was only on clear for 1-2 days, full liquids for 2-3 weeks, mushies for 1-2 weeks, and then solids. I was awaken out of my sleep with hunger pangs so my doc allowed for me to start mushies a lil early to calm the angry beast.
  2. I was also banded on 8/18, and have been starvin' the past couple of days! I went back to work yesterday, and was so weak, I only made through half the day. I'm suppose to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then full liquids 2 more weeks, but I was so weak. Yesterday, I mixed about 1/4 of a protein shake with water and it seemed to help with the weakness some. Hope this helps.
  3. Hi, I am just looking into revision do to metabolic reasons and I am not sure I should. I had the sleeve 11/30/I2. I lost 60 lbs. SW 289 CW 229 I have been stuck this weight for almost a year I go back and forth from 232 down to 228. It is soooooooo frustrating. I have been reading up and it seems I may have a issue???? I eat 1200-1300 calories daily sometimes less and it is mostly low carb less than 50 carbs a day. Infact recently I have been doing 20 carbs a day, I don't work out like I should be I do work out at least 2 times a w aim for 3-4 though. This last week I didn't at all becasue I was sick but I am back in the game now. Anyway, I am at my wits end the hospital where I had my surgery thinks I just need to keep trying the 1200 calorie plan. Obviously my body like where it is at! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So just curious if anyone has tried it for weight loss issues.

Gluten free, sugar free, fat free OH MY!

When you first start to eat solid food just take slow and carefully. Think of yourself as a baby. What would you feed a baby who is just starting to eat real food? At almost four months post op I can eat pretty much what I want but find I have to focus on the Protein to get enough. I do eat carbs but not anywhere near as much as before. I also try to eat salad a lot cuz I actually crave it! Who'd a thunk? I used to be such a chocoholic. Try to stay away from processed sugar because it might make you feel sick and if not, it will slow your weight loss, at least that's what my NUT told me. pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
  5. Hi I thought I would introduce myself. Im Melinda 41 and live in London uk. I had my Sleeve done on the 8th February 2011 at the Hommerton Hospital In Hackney. I was first referred there by my diabetic doctor 14 momths previous to surgery. Having diabetes that was steadily getting worse, high blood pressure, high cholestrol wls was considered the best option for me. I went to my first appointment thinking of having a gastric band, they soon said no to that, and suggested I have the Gastric Bypass. So my starting weight was 17and a half stone. and at 4ft 11inches my bmi was 44, if i remember rightly. Before surgery I got down to 16 stones. I had complications during my surgery hence why I ended up having a Gastric Sleeve instead of a Bypass, they had a struggle to keep me alive, due to me having pnemonia. My post op period was herrendous, i had to have further surgery, and am still currently having breathing problems. I see the hospital every two weeks, and my doctors once a week. But I am now 6 weeks down the line and am feeling so much better than i did I am nearly me again, minus 33lbs lol... I no longer take blood pressure tablets, its normal for the first time in 16 yrs lol. But I am still due to my surgeons advice only on stage 2 of eating, ie mushy food, and I am still struggling with pain, am off to see my surgeon later today so hoping he can give me some advice. Anyway think ive kinda waffled abit now so will sign off for now.
  6. I had a problem with a band that was too tight and slipped. I started to have problems in August of 08, but had corrective surgery to install a larger band in Feb. 09. It took that long to really have serious negative effects from not being able to eat well. The problems I wound up with were low potassium levels from the nausea and really bad constipation. Like emergency room bad. The point being, that some restriction problems that last a few weeks may not be an emergency. But you need to know yourself and how you feel and whether it's really bad. But you won't have a problem overnight.

    vitamin D & iron deficiency

I've been Iron deficient most of the time since I've been sleeved. It's really annoying because I have to take iron and it constipates me severely. My vid d was very low too, and like the other poster said, I started taking 50,000 a week, and it came right up.
  8. Ok, so im on my fourth day of my pre op diet and OMG....today i felt like passing out. Im not even on a liquid diet yet, thats two days before surgery..but i feel like crap today! Really dizzy, shaky, nauseated, having cold sweats and everything. ...is this normal?! I was fine the first three days, but today was NOT a good day...ugh i hope this feeling goes away..

    Weirdest NSV for me

Those are GREAT NSV's!! I had someone do the whole "I didn't recognize you" thing a couple of weeks ago. I can't deny...it was pretty freaking awesome!! I haven't mentioned this on the other threads but everyone is looking absolutely incredible!! Such big changes!!! YAY DOUBLE V's!!!

Dissapointment ... First Personal Training Session

You are right about the wacky trainer--run as fast as you can in the opposite direction! I have been working with a personal trainer now for more than 6 years. Initially I went to a gym and now I have a trainer in my home. Even when I had the trainer 3 hours a week, it never came close to 1000 dollars per month, not even half that! I delayed getting a new car and used the money from a car payment to cover the cost. So I was driving a 15 year old car (LOL) that was in good shape, and just 3 weeks ago got a new one. I never lost weight from the trainers though, although I became a lot more fit! I hope you can find someone you like. My trainer has learned a lot from me and has a different attitude now towards obesity than when she first got me. It has been good for both of us! I wish you the best on your journey!
  11. 1. Day 5 was hard for me. I had a total breakdown and cried most of the day. I didn't regret the surgery, but I missed not being able to eat. I wasn't even hungry - but I just WANTED to eat. I wanted chips, a burger, or anything that wasn't just liquid. 2. I really thought things would taste a lot different. I am almost 3 weeks post op and so far everything I've tried tastes exactly the same. I thought I was going to constantly be sick and I've not even thrown up once. Also, I guess I kind of expected to wake up a new person, but I didn't. I'm still me. I just eat a lot less. 3. I researched for years before actually having the surgery. I knew what I was getting into. I do wish I'd had better coping skills for head hunger, but that's pretty much went away at this point. The first week was the hardest, the second week I only experienced head hunger a couple of times, and now I just don't do it. I honestly think that has a lot to do with exercise. Exercising keeps me focused on something else and I'm getting to the point that I feel better when I exercise, so I guess my brain is just distracted.

    7 weeks post surgery

You are down 50lbs, that's wonderful. And 30lbs in 7 weeks is a good rate, some of us just lose slower than others, and I know because I'm one of them. Still would you have lost the 50lbs without the sleeve? i know that I wouldn't have, and you will continue to lose, stick to the plan you're doing fine.

    7 weeks post surgery

I absolutely agree and am very thankful for the 50 pounds that are gone! I just didn't loose any weight last week, my wife says I am in starvation mode. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Workout after Lap surgery

It's fairly standard to not work out for 4-6 weeks post op but you should check with your doctor to be sure. I swim so I had to wait six weeks to completely heal the incision before getting in the pool. Walking however was encouraged from Day 1
  15. 1. It was the 1st week post op. I got the hiccups right before leaving the hosptial and stretched my stomach staples. I was hurting a lot for that week. I refused to take the liquid pain meds - they made me want to wretch. 2. Don't know. My only expectation was to lose weight... so far so good. 3. I would have asked him how much it was going to hurt right after surgery. And what pain meds he was going to use. And when he planned to sign me out of the hospital - my friend was coming to pick me up and it was a 2 hour one-way drive for him, so it would have been nice if he could have timed his arrival at the hospital instead of having to sit around for 4 hours waiting on my doc to arrive. Pretty much everything else, I already knew to expect. I had hung around this board for a few weeks prior to surgery and seen lots of posts from new sleevers.
  16. Howdy all, I was sleeved exactly a week ago tomorrow AM. My doc's post operative diet called for 10 days of clear liquids following surgery, but I am struggling a bit and really want to move on to the full liquids phase. I know some people move on at 7 days and I am jealous!! I had a low BMI at surgery (29) and physically I have had no issues since surgery whatsoever. I feel good. Back at work from home (though finding it hard to concentrate when I am only intaking very low calories), I'm walking the doggie a few miles a day, no vomiting or nausea, already had some mini BMs. I do have a few incision twinges at surgery site but nothing major and the compression garment I'm wearing helps with those. I just really want something other than broth, juice and tea. That's literally all that is on the diet plan for the first 10 days. Broth, juice, tea. That's it. I'd just kill for some thicker soups or greek yogurt, even a protein shake... but don't want to defy doctors orders. Thing is, they just seemed to be his standard orders that he gives out to everyone, and not particularly tailored to me personally (sleeved in Mexico). I know three days more shouldn't be a big deal. I keep telling myself that. This is temporary. Im lucky that my partner has cooked me up delicious home made beef bone broth and chicken broth and I feel super grateful. Not sure if I am asking for approval or just moaning. I really want to stick to plan, but it's hard and this whole "I have no desire to eat" thing doesn't seem to be applying to me. The 10 day mark feels like an age away. Guessing its probably all in my head?? Other than that, feeling good!

Help...same Food Every Day For A Week

The thing about protein is that will help you heal inside out and yes it's necessary. I couldn't do any of the protein supplements like isopure so I picked the GNC one lean chocolate milk and it's pretty good for snack time. The thing about food intake is to slowly allow your stomach to tell you what is tolerated. Trust me I've wanna cry after some foods. Mashed potatoe not too dry though feels good with cheese. A slice of moist mozzarella. However to me wow been eating a bit more solid foods so early I see why it could be painful. If you could do onion soup without the bread it's also good. Your body needs to heal and as you know every week it gets better. Good luck!!! Keep in touch
  18. Hello sleevers, I am four months post op and I had it done in MX. The problem is that I haven't seen a dietician and I am confused on how much I'm suppose to eat. I've lost 56lbs so far averaging 1 lbs a week. Can someone please tell me how much protein, carbs, fat and water intake I'm to have. I am light head at times and I know that i am not drinking enough water I might get 10oz of liquid a day . I am taking 1 multi vitamin, 1000 bitien, b 12 , calcium and magnesium . Please let me know if I am missing something.

Questions About Protein Drinks. Very Confused

Sure, I used to mix my powders with Lactaid milk for a long time as my tummy was intolerant. It tasted exactly like as if I made it with milk. And yes to the fruit. The only fruits to be wary of for the first few weeks are ones with tiny seeds, or ones that are very fibrous. In fact, I'd wait for at least 3 weeks before adding fruit, but once you're over your initial healing they should be fine.

    Medical Leave from Work

Warning about Short-term disabililty This is something I just ran into the day after my surgery on May 31st. My surgeon filled out all my paperwork - both FMLA and STD forms - and requested that I remain off work for 6-8 weeks. I went with 6 weeks. The day after surgery - my STD company calls and tells me they will only cover me for two weeks...that's it. My surgery was two weeks ago today and today was the day I was required to return to work. Be sure to check with you STD about how long they will cover you!
  23. I was banded in 2008, and got pregnant in 2010. I had 2 de-fills during my pregnancy, but my band seemed to be normal. A few weeks after I had my baby my band started feeling really tight. My surgeon has emptied it completely, but it still feels tighter than I have ever had it. I had to drink a couple ounces of diet soda before every meals to stretch it a little in order to be able to get anything down without pain. If I don't I can't even get water down without a little discomfort. My surgeon took my gall bladder out 7 weeks post pregnancy and said that the band looks fine, so we know it has not malfunctioned in any way. Has any one ever heard of someone's band feeling tighter after pregnancy? I m looking for some hope that this gets better and it will go back to normal
