Down 2 Pants Sizes And So Excited!

NSV non scale victory DH? Dear husband, anyway on WW
  2. CrazyJaney

    February/March 2014 sleevers

Hair sheds when dry and there is a handful when wet. Ugh. I just had a big loss but pretty sure I'm now in a stall. No scale so my daily weighing habit is on hold (I'm on vacation). Loving all the NSV's though.
  3. This week I had my 6 week postop appointment. I am down about 43 lbs total, including my 2 week preop diet. After hitting 40 lbs down at 4 weeks, I went up & down the same pound for about a week. After 3 or 4 days, I stopped weighing myself every day & just waited about 5 days or so before weighing again. When I did, I was down 2 pounds & another one came off before my follow up appointment. I think my body was adjusting to having more solid food. At week 5, I was finally able to start cooking again & enjoying the kinds of food I love. I'm still focusing on softer foods, but being able to cook good food & start sharing dinner with my husband again has really boosted my outlook. In addition, I can tell my clothes are getting too big & I'm starting to pull out clothes I haven't worn in years. I found a really cute knit pencil skirt online at Target & I bought both a 3X and a 2X (Target stuff runs small on me). The 3X fits great now & the 2X will fit before too long. It's perfect for somebody with a bountiful booty & the hubs loves it. A new cookbook I am exploring right now is called Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan. It's a paleo cookbook, and Melissa also has a great blog called The Clothes Make The Girl. The paleo style of eating seems to fit in really well with our postop guidelines, so I decided to check it out. So far, I have really enjoyed everything I have tried from the book. She includes a sections on staples of a paleo pantry & ways to cook ahead the simple parts of a meal (meat, veggies, etc) that you then can use over a whole week with many variations. I found Well Fed on Amazon, along with several other paleo cookbooks I'm thinking of trying now. Over the last couple of weeks, I have had several social things to go to, plus a couple of times where I have had to be away from home for a whole day or overnight without much access to decent food. I've had to plan ahead for eating properly, and I've also had to get over my nervousness about social or party eating. I've been surprised at the things I've been tempted by & the things I have NOT been tempted by. One party was hosted by a friend who is a very good baker, and his parties always include some yummy cakes. I expected to be pretty tempted to have a bite of cake, but I wasn't. It was so weird, but I was happy with cheese & some olives & hardly looked twice at the cakes. However, last night we were at another friend's house they put out some Triscuits. OMG, I absolutely HAD to have a damn Triscuit. I was actually distracted from the conversation because I kept glancing at the Triscuits. Seriously, I'm obsessing over a Triscuit?? WTH??? I ended up eating 4 over the whole evening & they were yummy. I also had a little wine, but I didn't even finish one glass. I have noticed that I am starting to feel hunger again. A couple of times, I have been very hungry & my first 2 or 3 bites have been either too big and/or taken in too fast. Each time, I have thrown up right away. I need to do better about keeping it slow & small no matter how hungry I am. I am also struggling to take in 64 oz of water a day. I carry my bottle around, but forget to drink from it. The most I usually drink is 36 to 48 oz, and I know I need to do better than that. The other thing I'm noticing is that I'm "hungry" to get out and do more stuff now. My knees are feeling much better, and I am so much more enthusiastic about going shopping or to the grocery store or to a party without worrying about pain from standing or feeling like I am stuck in a chair while everyone else is mingling. Call it hunger for life, but that's the other hunger that's coming back & I am so grateful to feel it. Life is for living, and although I was never a person who withdrew from life, I certainly felt restricted in what I was physically able to do. My next NSV outing will be to go to our big farmer's market on a Saturday morning. Maybe next week? We'll see!

    Whats "in style"?

Sizes has always been the top of my bitch list. I hate trying on clothes in stores- part of the problem was some of the dressing rooms were so small that I could hardly turn around. I am finally accepting that as long as it fits I will wear it no matter the size but that was hard. I like the clothes and prices at kohls but they run small.I bought 2 prs of pants at walmart today- stretch black boot cut jeans in a 24 and cords in a 22 from different makers and they fit almost the same. ( that i could even get the 22's on was a big NSV!) I really hate buying bigger size clothes- it feels like a failure but I really hate running around with out any clothes so I buy what fits and swear that someday I won't have problems buying what I like. Just problems affording it!

    Road to "TWOterville"

OK, 7 month check up today and down a few more lbs. Not a lot mind you but at least I am not gaining. I love listening to all of the daily struggles and NSV's and hope to have my own to share soon. As of now, I am still wearing the same clothes I did wear, they are loose but not falling off of me. I just want it faster than I am getting it, who doesn't right??? So.......lets just keep on keepin' on and wish the best for every single one of our fellow bandsters! I am established in twoterville and hoping to someday get to Onederland. Ciao Bellas!! KT

  8. Absolutely Feisty! So day eight post op and a couple of incision stitches had to go...My 3 smaller incisions stitches removed this morning. My skin was starting to heal over them, and that's a no no. The two others I will give a few move days. In other news. I am able to swallow my antibiotic rather than dumping the contents in Jello NSV....only 2 days left of those and I will add the multiV. Then probably calcium. My doc says add the iron if needed after healed.

    Shamrocks Friday Weight In.

Okay I did the Fenton-thing last night -- super buffet dinner with tons of delicious food but I tried to eat as small amounts of things as I could including only 1/3 of the slice of cheesecake that came for dessert after a dinner that started with a glass of white wine, prime rib, etc. etc. I did skip the rolls -- not worth it. So, the total for that one meal was 1200 calories. Beware, it adds up fast at a fancy dinner. Fortunately I had done over 3500 calorie burn yesterday with two big snow shoveling hours burning up alot but I still should have gone for less. My NSV this morning is that I'm wearing a pair of jeans for the first time in years and years. Yes, they buttoned up without having to lay on the bed to zip them. Woo hoo! Okay, gentle reminder for myself and others -- no big eating today for SuperBowl parties tonight. I looked at the small bag of Doritos I bought and it said 170 calories for a serving and I thought okay, for a special treat, then I read the bag has 3.5 servings in it and it isn't a very big bag! OMG! I am going to have to count out or weigh a serving to not eat the whole bag. Go Steelers!

    Awesome NSV!
  11. I am a long way from AFTER but I had to pop in here and share this mornings NSV! These are my WELL WORN NON-Stretch Levis size 14! I've been trying them on every week for the last two months seeing how far up I can get them.... A little over a month a go was the first pic.... there was NO amount of sucking and stuffing that I could make the sides meet... so it was my August goal to get into them by labor day.... I'm a couple days late, but HERE I AM THIS MORNING! a true testament that inches do come off even when the scale is not budging! Breathing IS over rated! I LOVE MY BAND

I don't know if you all are doing this already...I've never heard anyone mention it...but are you taking your body measurements? With all my excercise, I'm not losing as fast as I would like, but my body fat percentage is plummeting and my inches are going down steadily. So that is a BIG NSV for me. My body fat percentage has gone from 43.4% to 37.2% as of this evening. (My goal is 25%, but I think I'd be happy with 28%.) I've lost 3.5" in my waist, 4" in my hips, 3.5" in my chest, 2.5" in my thigh, 2.5" in my calf and 2" in my bicep from surgery on June 8th to August 15th. (I measure on the 15th of each month.) That makes me feel better, even though the scale isn't moving down as much as I would like. My biggest dissappointment right now is that I won't make my August 31st goal of being under 200. That sucks. Hopefully next week I can make it, but hubby is coming home for three weeks, so I know he will want to be going out all the time, which means restaraunts, drinks, starbucks...you name it. I understand that, though. He's been gone for eight weeks offshore and is ready to hit dry land RUNNING. Thank goodness he won't be gone that long anymore. I miss my best friend!

Missy Congratulations. I'm so happy for you. I'm glad to see that someone else thinks people are looking at them. I was beginning to think I was paranoid. I think it was because I was so uncomfortable with myself before I "knew" everyone was looking and talking about me. Now I think it is because I've gotten a bit more daring in the clothes I wear and I'm still huge on top. I too can buy clothes from the regular department now but still find myself in the woman's department looking. Then if I try it on, it is too big. Good feeling. Best compliment I've gotten was from my mom who was looking for me in a croud at Disney and said I just blend in now. She said she used to be able to spot me in a croud and now she can't. :biggrin2: I don't know if I'm going to make my goal of under 200 pounds by Wednesday. I've had kindof a rough weekend and didn't excercise my butt off like I wanted to. If not be Wednesday, I'm sure I will soon. I've been kindof on a plateau and realize excercise is the only way off. It is so hard for me to find time with my son. I need to just set aside time for me and do it. The band has been such a blessing for me. I want so bad to get one for my sister. I keep hoping I'll come into some money and be able to give it to her as a gift. She has let her health deteriorate over the last few years and is in crisis right now. She is even talking about quitting her job to get health care. She said it is either that or die. Wow what is this world coming too. It is so good to see all the success everyone is having and to hear about all the NSVs.

Rhonda, Wow what a day, I guess the bright side is all you learned through the process! I agree with you on so many points. I am glad they were able to get someone in to complete the unfill, it is harder when they can't find it and they are poking around! Keep us posted on your eating. GREAT NSV!! those mean so much... Missy and Amy, I agree so much about the band for teens or young adults, I know I would have been thankful to have this then. I have yoyo so many times, I lost count. And when I finally decided to do this at age 48, I am at my all time highest weight! I only exceeded 200 after babies and then two years ago and oculd not change habits or get the scale to move! I don 't judge those who have a low bmi, because the band is there for you NOT to GAIN it BACK. To me that is so important! Stef sorry about your fill appt. that is how my doc office is. you can't get an appointment, even if you call and beg! Now if there is a medical problem, I am sure they will see you. Hang in there! when is your appt? Mine is not until Oct 8.

Hi everyone!!! I am the same KT that started this thread, but somehow managed to lose my connection to lapbandtalk and had to get a new login!! Anyway, I came back to say hi! Seems our wee thread is losing momentum... I truly hope it's because everyone is doing so well :-) The last time I posted I was frustrated with my weight loss but optimistic that I could turn things around... well I am pleased to report that I had a fill (9mls in a 10ml band) and wow.... restriction, frustration with restriction, etc etc I've had it all!!! Anyway, I finally passed my "original" goal weight. BMI says I am normal!!! YAY!!!! Unfortunately for me I've moved the goal posts and now still have 5kgs to go "keep on trucking"... I am soooo determined that I'll be there by Xmas!!!! NSV: The other day someone said to me... "look at you, skill as skinny as ever"!!! OMG, I have never been skinny but how nice is that!!! So many of us started in June 2007... I hope that you are all happy, healthy, satisfied. It's not so easy but it is attainable and you all deserve it! LOL KT

Getting back to work and routine will be helpful.I wish I could have the feeling of not wanting to eat. I am not sure I will ever feel that! Suzzzie if I eat right and slow I am fine too, it is only when I eat to fast, dont' chew and eat things that I know will not go down is when I have issues. Unfortunetly I know the bad stuff I can eat, I am hoping to change that around now. Rennee, GREAT NSV! that is such a good feeling. I was depressed yesterday for the opposite effect. I can tell I cheated over the holidays, my clothes were not as loose as they were before my vacation! I really need to focus. Have a great day!

My NSV is that on a recent flight I didn't need a seat belt extender! I bought my own a few years ago so I wouldn't be embarassed to ask for one. I have decided that when I reach goal, I'm going to frame it in a shadow box with some inspirational message as a reminder of where I never want to go again! Steph, hope your DH got home safely. I live in the area and had to drive in that awful mess today! My standard breakfast is now 4 oz. of Activia yogurt. It is only 110 calories, helps with digestion, and is just the right amount to fill me up. I can usually go to lunch without getting hungry. And - it tastes yummy!

Congrats to everyone on their NSV's (clothing) and it sounds like a positive week for most. :whoo: Gosh Stef, I have never had a speck of an idea why you aren't losing a pound a day with your 600 calorie diet and hours of workouts daily. I know why *I* don't lose anything....I eat too much, eat the wrong things, snack, skip workouts, drink wine, eat too much salt, etc., etc. But even doing those things, I can maintain. I'm stumped and stupefied! Why don't you go on weight watchers and eat regular meals, count your points and see what happens? On another note...... Me thinks I need another fill. :cry I would have liked to avoid it, because of what happened last time and I'm plain tired of making the all day trek to get it, but I have almost no restriction as of this week. Some things are going on in my personal life and I'm self-medicating with food. NOT GOOD. When it rains, it pours. :rain: Anyway, I'm going to see if I can get in on Saturday. Tonight I was able to eat 2 cups of food (beef and noodles) and was still hungry (head hunger I'm sure but I'm also sure I could have eaten a piece or two of fruit to top it off. :hungry: I feel like a kid playing with these smilies! Niters all!

Missy: Way to go on the walk! Keep it up and I'm sure you'll enjoy it more. These temps this week are amazing. If I get home at a decent time, busy-busy work week, I'm thinking about taking the kids for a walk in their wagon for the perimeter of our 10 acres...or as close to that as I dare go. Rhonda: Definitely check with your doctor if it's been a few days. Are you still having troubles? How long? I had some problem this weekend, 3 weeks after 2nd fill (2cc in 4cc band)...and had to throw up Skim Chocolate Milk with Splenda (Anderson Erickson). I took it easy the next day, mostly protein shakes and water and by yesterday was back to being able to tolerate. I go in Friday for my 3rd fill. My home scale is looking nice to me...hopefully the office scale will to. My big NSV this week: went shopping at Kohl's on Sunday...bought 1X blouses instead of 3X and they fit wonderfully! : ) At the end of this month a friend of mine, who had LB back in Feb., are celebrating our birthdays with a shopping trip...$1 for every pound we've lost so far on clothes. I can't wait!

Hey Junies.... I've been here EVERYDAY!!!!---just reading...got alot going on!!!! Congrats to all who have had NSV!!!! Steph--when I read your inspirational message--I could hear the voice of Joel Osteen reading it---have you heard of him? He preaches a message of good attitude and positive thinking. Where is Toni? Suzzie--I purchased the ingredients for the Mozarella Stuffed Turkey meatballs. Instead of mozarella, I have chipolte cheddar cheese. I'll let you know how they turn out. Do you know the nutritional value of the meatballs--serving, calories, protein, etc.? All--please keep me and my family in your prayers. My mother's only sister is on a ventilator (she's 65). We have decided to remove her from the ventilator this Monday. She has two adult sons. Pray for our strength during this time.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Well, I did it. I consumed an entire Taco Bell Naco Grande platter. By.My.Fucking.Self. No, I did not need it. No I did not need it. No I did not need it. Although, before banding I would of consumed mine plus hubbys and then some of DD and then maybe some tacos on top of that....with mexi fries and a huge ass drink. So, I guess I am still up and up from before banding. One NSV I had the other day at grocery store. I ran into an old friend and haven't seen her in about a year. She says, "looks like you lost some weight".....hell, I was happy that someone noticed.... I could of kissed her...on the mouth....with some tongue....(just kidding, just had to throw that in for you J!!, and the guys)

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

okay everyone....I had a NSV today!!!! Last month I had a pair of jeans I had bought..they were my very first button jeans bought in years. They were a size 24. I wore them to the doctor and we went and test rode bikes. I ripped them when they got caught in the derrailler. So, I went to the store to get a new pair, and they didnt have a size 24, but had a size 22. Well, I ended up buying them knowing they would not fit. I had tried them on a few times this past month, and did not fit. TODAY LADIES AND GENTS....THEY NOT ONLY FIT BUT ARE COMFY!!!!!! YES, 6 MONTHS LATER AND I HAVE GONE FROM A SIZE 30/32 TO A SIZE 22.... WTF??? WOOHOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I AM SO THANKFUL TO HAVE THE FRIENDS AND SUPPORT AND THE DESIRE TO CONTINUE TO LOOSE. THE BAND HAS GIVEN ME A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON MY LIFE, AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL EVEN THESE GET TOO BIG. THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE THE MESSAGE BOARD WITH YOU TO SHARE THIS NEWS
