    Helping/rewarding my husband

Congrats on your -100!!! He's not a tattoo kinda guy, unlike me lol. But I think it's an awesome idea. I was thing of buying him a halfway there watch with his highest weight inscribed so he will remember where he came from and strive to keep going. Sent from my VK810 4G using the BariatricPal App
  2. Not sure how a fill will make you feel better...my health and overall general feeling did not occur until the weight started to come off....and for me that did not begin to happen until 2-3 months after surgery....
  3. I honestly feel like I am going to fail at this continuously.. you are not alone. I think it's because as a former obese person ( i love saying that) I failed at every diet I ever tried. I would lose then gain gain gain. This is different than a diet and I know you are going to be soooo successful! I am so glad you were able to get out of your funk.
  4. Hey Mary, I too was hungry before my first fill, but I was determined to not have gained when I went to my fill appointment. I excercized and really tried to focus. I know it's not easy but you have a tool now, it may not be a great tool as of yet but it's still there. You can do it! Try and eat Protein, then veg. If you need a snack stick to 100 calorie Snacks. Try and stay away from carbs. I know it seems overwhelming but let me tell you that nothing feels better than losing and not gaining. I bought a wii fit at the beginning and did 30 minutes of fun excercize every day. When you are sitting on the couch watching tv do leg lifts, make a goal that during commercials you will walk around, try going up the stairs.. stuff like that. Keep your body moving.. now is the time where the bulk of your weight will come off , make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day.. I am a crystal light fanatic. I promise you if you try these things and yes I know it seems hard but you can do it! You went through all you did to get banded and paid for it as well, you can do this. Do not allow yourself to get into a rut. You have the power now!! Use it. Use this time where your body will shed weight like crazy to your benefit. don't allow yourself to just give in. Make a goal for every day and stick to it. Focus and just realize that a year from now you will be thin!!! Good luck and keep your head up!

    Stall For 2 Weeks

I agree with other posts that this is totally normal. I had almost a month of little or no weight loss and then I changed from working out in evening to morning, added more "real food" like fish and veggies, and began tracking EVERYTHING on MyNetDiary. Then yesterday, BOOM, lost 3lbs. I have lost 30lbs since surgery on July 11 but this surgery is definitely not the easy way out, I think more and work harder on myself since this surgery then any other program I have attempted. Stay strong and just shake up your routine, you have to outsmart your body! Good Luck!
  6. Good Morning, I had my revision the end of August 2014 started at 227 and I'm now at a stand still at 193! I'm really at a lost I haven't lost anymore weight I have been steady toggling between 189-194 I can't get out of this slump and my surgery anniversary is fast approaching! I'm not sure if this count as slow are just stopped?
  7. Seasoned sleevers, what was your weight loss like? I have read several posts where people have talked about slow weight loss after revision. I know our metabolisms are slower already since we had the band, but I haven't really lost any weight in the last week or so, just 3 was post op. Just curious as to others experiences.... Also, I noticed a bump under one portion of my incision where they removed my port. Last week, the entire incision was a little hard, now it is just at one end. Did anyone experience this? How long until it went away?

    insurance help needed

Dave, That is a hard thing to do. Often when you purchase individual insurance you are excluded for prexisting conditions. I know when I tried to get different insurance, being self employeed, that no one would take me because of my weight. So I basically have had my same insurance for the last 10 years. If what you are saying is possible often the super high premiums make it unaffordable, otherwise everyone would be doing what you want to do-get coverage for a pre-existing condition covered on a new policy. In 3 years of active looking for insurance-I never got accepted for new insurance due to my weight-- and by the way in the 10 years of health insurance coverage I used my coverage NEVER, ZILTCH, NADA. So I should of been an excellent candidate for a new company--but such is life in the world we know. T

    Timing

I’ve been reading your postings and am wondering how you are doing with your weight loss? I am at the beginning of the VSG process and am still in the research for a doctor phase. I saw that you traveled for your procedure. Since I am self-pay too, the few doctors in the Orlando area offer outpatient only. I would feel much more comfortable with a hospital stay included. Would you mind sharing your self-pay experience and benefits. Thank you.

    Rewards

Fifty pounds is a significant amount of weight...how about going shopping for a new, reasonably priced item of clothing that fits with your positive mood? Think about adding some color...
  11. the only thing i can offer (besides my unwavering support) is want power. you must want to lose weight bad enough to do it. (following your dr's instructions, eating better food and exercising). i dont believe in will power. i can will myself into just about anything but wanting something..that is different. find that want power deep inside and then just do it. no excuses. no drama. no BS. want it bad enough to do whatever it takes to get it done. and then do it.

    Weight Gain

when i first had 3ccs removed because they were freaking about my losing 5 pounds, my weight went...wonky is the best way i can put it. i ate salads and such like i did throughout my pregnancy and my weight seemed to skyrocket no matter what i did. the good news is that towards the middle of the second trimester it stopped rising so quickly. body moderated itself because i still continued with the salads and proteins like i did in the beginning. hormones do weird things.

    Weight Gain

Sounds like a lot of that is water weight too. Don't stress too much, I know its easy. I went from gaining nothing to gaining 10lbs in a month and its a shock at first, but my doctor wasn't concerned at all and reminded me that Im still doing a great job and just be smart about things.

Diet Soda at 9 months post op?

The issue with diet soda seems to be the artificial sweeteners trick your body into thinking you are eating something sweet, but you are not, and this can make you crave something that is sweet. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ https://www.usnews.com/news/health-care-news/articles/2018-04-23/study-artificial-sweeteners-linked-to-diabetes-obesity The chemicals in soda also leach calcium from your bones which is horrible for women, and especially anyone that has had weight loss surgery. There are a lot of reasons to give up diet soda. I drank Diet Coke for years, over 25! I hope to stay quit of the stuff for good!

    Why am I getting Sleeved?

I get asked if the doctors TOLD me to do WLS. No I KNEW I needed help. I have yo-yo dieted for 35 plus years and I hit my highest weight and thought OMG I am going to hit 300 if I don't stop the insanity NOW. DO - IT - FOR - YOU! and ONLY YOU! jane

    Frustrated!

I haven't had any Achilles issues, which is amazing since a torn Achilles ended my college football experience before it really got started. I did recently have had some rotator cuff issues in my shoulder which held up my triathlon training. I have 3 sports to train for so it did allow me to focus on the others. Weight training / core training is really good for you though and should still benefit you in running.
  17. Help! My hunger subsided for several weeks between 10 and 13 weeks or so, it was very manageable and normal and i had no gain. Now, it has returned very fiercely and I am craving all the bad stuff..Taco Bell, carbs, fries, etc. I don't know what to do, I'm already up a pound this week and don't wanna make it 2 lbs! The band has been a bit tight so maybe that's restricting my meal size a bit, but did anyone experience just major hunger at the start of 2nd trimester?

    Help,

Hi guys, if you could help me how do i update my weight on my profile? I looked everywhere but i dont seem to find it anywhere😣 Thanks
  19. There's a great solution do not tell ppl that act this way ppl that don't have the weight problem cannot understand if it was simple as just stop eating and go to the gym there wouldn't be a need for bariatric surgery it's the same as drug or alcohol addiction just stop drinking and taking drugs we gee that's so easy why do we have rehab then? I know it sucks but sometimes you just can't confide in ppl you must be your own cheerleader remember it's only your opinion that matters they aren't living in your body or with whatever issues you may have because if it they don't have to live with it you do don't listen to the opinions of ppl who cannot possibly understand the issue

    Average monthly weight loss?

The stretch marks are my issue, if not for those my skin would be rebounding. If I feel I can't live with the skin on my inner thighs and arms after losing all of my weight then I will just save up for one more procedure. Wow Ninaboo, I have had three children, twins and a single and i had stretch marks from my boobs to my knees! Awesome for you!!! Some of us are not so lucky!

    Depressed?

You are doing great, please don't compare yourself to others because it really is something you can't control. Your body will lose at the rate it decides. Wanted to also mention that as you lose weight, all the hormones stored in the fat you're losing gets flushed back into your system and can cause epic mood swings - depression and anger and weeping are common throughout this time and could last months and months. Just a heads up so you don't freak out, and also just in case you already are feeling so down without really knowing why - don't get caught up in the feelings of worthlessness or depression because they are being ruled by that hormone dump right now!

    Weight Loss and Sadness

No, I've never been the victim of any sort of abuse. That is an interesting theory though. I think many of us (meaning obese and overweight individuals) use our weight as a sort of guard though. I'm not sure what I have been guarding myself from, but I have no doubt that my weight shielded me from something.

    Interested In A Mentor

Wis4me I love your name, first Where did you have surgery? My story in a nutshell: I'm at the very beginning of my preop tasks I have to have done, I saw my PCP today and got my green light clearance from her. I'm new to this forum so still trying to make myself comfy with how it works here At this point I'm hoping for the end if Jan or early Feb date. I saw my surgeon on Nov 27 and she put me on a 1200 calorie Hugh protein/ low carb diet and so far I'm down 12lbs and hoping not to gain over the holidays Any advice for the psych eval?

    2 year Anniversary

Well, I just hit my 2 year surgery anniversary! WOW! I thought I would be 200 lbs, but I weigh in at (wait for it) 262 lbs. My highest weight was 462 lowest point was September of 2013 243. This past year I've added 20+ lbs of muscle which I'm really happy with. Now I just have refocus on the cardio which is shall we say challenging.
