    Going Crazy

:ermm Still haven't slept since last week...its killing me. But I know I will get it under control..still on for Tuesday's fitting. Discussed putting feathers on my mask with my sister (having a moment of insanity) she advised Rhinestones...LOL...I can always count on my sister to help me out of a funk. Ya ever hear anyone say that they would pinch you or stomp on your foot if you were saying that something hurts you? (you know ...my arm hurts...okay I'll stomp on your foot to make you forget about your arm....LOL) well, that is how I feel...the sleep apnea thing is making me forget that I was so ansy to get the banding! I had the strangest dream last night during one of my cat naps....I dreamt that the doctors office handed me this fancy envelope shaped like a pink pocketbook -even had a fancy handle on it, and I opened it up and it said that I was approved for surgery......LOL ! Maybe its a sign that I will def be approved...lol. (my sis would be proud of the pink pocketbook envelope...thats her speed, she is a total girly girl:cheer2: , I am more of the earthy one :hippie: ). I want to thank Teresita and MoOrLess for their comments of support to my last post....thanks so much you guys are great!!!!

Surgery in 2 weeks and I start my pre op diet tomorrow. 11 days of high Protein, like I've been doing. I will have only 3 days of liquids. I'm super excited but nervous too!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. :welldoneclap: Well I can tell you from experience in two weeks I lost 18 pounds pre op.. You have to be strict and be very determined when your on your liquids. Sugarfree jello I lived on..lol Make sure you getting 60+ grams of protein a day through protein shakes. Drink as much water as you can stand and be commited. It is going to be difficult for the first 3 days but after that I think you will do awesome.. You can do it!!!!! Also make sure you pick protein drinks that have little to no carbs..By day 3 or 4 your body should be in keytosis a constant state of fat burning..You got cheerleaders here if you need someone give you support...

    Gotta ask this sex question....

I waited 6 weeks for it just to make sure. Then, all was fair and the circus was on!
  7. After months of googling information, I finally decided to join this forum [emoji4] I am soooooooooo excited but very nervous bout getting the gastric bypass. I have Anthem BSBC and it requires 6 months of consecutive weigh-in attempts with my PCP. I am nervous because last month I actually gained 5lbs. Although they said I did not have to lose any weight throughout those visits, I'm afraid that will give them a reason to deny me. Can someone with Anthem insurance let me know how long it took to receive an approval? Was the process smooth for you? My patient advocate said she would send the paper work in as soon as I get the last weight attempt sheet faxed over. I really want to get approved so I can go ahead and have the surgery in January.

    Life before fills!!!!

I'm 5 weeks post op, my Dortor will not fill before 6 weeks. I'm on solids but am starving hungry. They say to eat a cup full or so of food per meal, are they insane! I can more or less eat a regular meal, not as much as I could before granted but I can eat! Is this normal to be able to eat so much. I lost a ton of weight pre and post op and guess what it's all starting to come back on.
  9. I'm only two weeks post-op, but for some strange reason, I cannot stand the smell of homemade popcorn! I used to make it often and the smell of it never bothered me. Now I just want to puke! Can't even imagine what it will taste like once I'm off of the "soft" diet...
  10. I am down 110 lbs. and saw a plastic surgeon last April for a cosult. He came highly recommended, however, he wanted to do multiple procedures at a cost of $25000. He recommended a full belt lipectomy, thigh lift and gynocomastica fix. I feel that my chest is fine, in fact quite muscular, my legs are fine for me, I run a ton, yet my biggest problem is my abdomen. All I want done is a belt lipectomy. It goes all around the abdomen. I found a surgeon who will do it for $11,000 which includes all post op visits, two nights in hospital everything. My question, is that a reasonable price? And do any of you have any experience on what to expect as far as pain etc. I have had many surgeries, and my last was last week for an emergency lap band issue, which hurt more than any other surgery. How bad is this plastic surgery procedure?

    Long term struggles

Find a nutritionist, a wls support group, a therapist, just start somewhere. Download an app for tracking food (Baritastic, myfitnesspal, LoseIt - all free), buy a new fancy water thermos, new sneakers, a journal for your feelings, clean the junk food from your cupboards, buy a week's worth of lunch food and divide it into containers...etc Stop shaming yourself, forgive yourself, and move on, success can be yours.

    Can I drink now?

My doc said I could have a glass of wine when I was 4 weeks out. I wouldn't try anything carbinated that soon though!
  13. Hey - I have Tricare too (Triwest and I'm Tricare prime b/c hubby is active duty Navy) and Tricare was the BEST!!! I almost hate to even put this here given how much hassle and heartbreak so many other people have gone through with their insurances, BUT Tricare was a breeze. I didn't have to have any kind of waiting time and diet/nutritionist appts. etc. before they'd approve it. I had every appointment immediately paid for with no copay or deductible. The only thing Tricare actually required was an EKG (which was also covered) and then once the package was submitted (on a Thursday) I was approved by MONDAY! The hospital told me that the normal time waiting on insurance approval was six to eight weeks. So four days is incredible. In the original meaning of the word - defying all credibility!!! So right after that I had my appointment with the surgeon and then scheduled my surgery which is only 30 days away!! So thank your lucky stars if you have Tricare. Of course to have it we've had to deal with being a military family but there's no free lunch, right?? Anyway, good luck!

    Stall Stories

I'm in my 6th month and I've had more stalls than I can count. But I have lost wright. All those little periods of loss add up. Keep working the program and your body will let go of the weight when it's ready.

    Weight gain

Hi, I am 2 years out RNY. Right after surgery I kept weighing myself and obsessing. A couple of weeks after, when I had settled down I was in front of the mirror and it hit me 40lbs. was just gone! It was amazing! I have gained & lost a few lbs here & there and you will hit stalls but they don't last forever. I'm not sorry I did this & I had a fantastic Dr. Good Luck with your program. Just drink your water, get your protein in & exercise and you'll be ok!

    Day 1

So for my surgery I have to go on a two week liquid diet. This consist of sugar free jello, broth, sugar free popsicles (which who doesn't want these in the middle of winter), protein shakes, and 1 protein bar a day. My first protein shake I made was vanilla. The consistency and smell made me gag, no gonna lie. So I doubled the water and I think it is watered down enough for me to handle. I am taking a sip of it and chasing it with water. I am on my second sugar free jello which (oddly enough) not that filling. I know it sounds like I am whining...because I am. BUT I feel like venting it out on my blog is better than taking it out of someone else around me. I have chopped my protein bar into three pieces so I can have one with breakfast lunch and dinner. I feel like this way I can "eat" something with each meal. It is only 10:30 but I am already looking forward to my broth.

    Not motivated today

Not sure what my malfuntion is but wow I am not motivated to do much of anything! I have so much to do before I leave for Phoenix in the morning and it's just not happening. I even have the munchies supper bad. What am I so stressed out about? GEEZE :cursing: I actually really want to go for a walk but it is so bloody hot here all the sudden. I don't mind the heat when I have an adaptation period but it went from the mid 60's to the 90's in a matter of a week! Here I am whining about waling and my poor hubby has to be melting in all of his gear. I need to get a grip. It should cool off in a few hours I will have to go pound some pavement then!
  18. I had the sleeve because I didn't want to risk complications that can happen with the bypass. My surgery was October 17th. I never experienced gerd before but did have it rather severely for the first 2 weeks and strangely it was worse when drinking water. That has thankfully passed. I have a high BMI but I'm ok with not losing quite as fast as with bypass. Maybe it will help with lose skin. I am determined to lose all my excess weight, not the 65-70% average predicted.

    Quick Question

Every doctor is different. If your not sure, call your doctors office, thats what they are there for. I was on clear liquids for the first two weeks after surgery, then the third week Protein shakes, cream Soups, cream of wheat. My forth week which is coming up is mushy foods.

    Quick Question

Just wanted to know when I am supposed to start my protein slimfast drinks. According to my info. packet, I am only supposed to be on the clear liquids during my hospital stay and then start my protein drinks at home anywhere form 1-2 weeks/until my post-op appt. Just wanted to know when most of you started your protein shakes, mushies (apple sauce, soft eggs, etc.). Although I have not received a fill, I find that I am not able to drink/sip much broth or water (I think because of the heartburn, that pepcid is not helping at all, as well as the feeling of not being able to breathe too deeply. I feel as if I am in need of more nutrition, namely protein. Help, please.
  21. Surgery was on 8/13. I have been doing crossfit since week 6. I went to work 5 days after surgery. My energy level is really up, and I feel really good about myself. I did have a stall for 3 weeks, and that sucked big time. But the scale is slowly moving again. I lost 15 lbs before surgery, and I am down 80 total.

    Stalling

I stalled out for about a mth from my 7 mth to my 8 mth mark @ 93 lbs down & then suddenly this past week I dropped 7 lbs & hit my first big goal of 100 lbs down! Just stay positive & keep moving forward & it will begin to move again. Stalls are normal, it is a way of letting your body catch up with the pounds you have lost. Have you taken your measurments? Usually for me when the scale is not moving the inches are!!! One day at a time, one foot in front of the other!!!
  23. Week 9 post op. Down 43 pounds.
  24. They didn’t have as in depth follow up care. They didn’t have a laid out step by step diet plan (ex weeks1/2 then 3/4) no follow up nutrition visits and no support groups. I needed something that told me every week how I should be progressing

Alcohol + summer = slow weight loss

Okay soooo I have been having an insane time drinking this summer. Too much partying because my theory is that I work hard and once I start the nursing program in the fall, I won't be able to do anything for basically two years. I am on new meds though which makes drinking a little dangerous so now I have to slow down. Anyways... I usually drink Apple Martini flavored crystal light with apple Bacardi (used as a mixer while downing shots of bacardi). When I low-carb, vodka and Bacardi doesn't kick me out of ketosis if I mix it with crystal light or another low-carb beverage like Powerade zero or something like that. The only problem with drinking and low-carbing is that while your body has alcohol in it, it won't burn off any fat until it burns off all of the alcohol. Drinking isn't really the reason for my weight loss stalls but I'm sure it hasn't helped any because I did for awhile go back to eating crappy junk food and whatnot and that made me have the "whatever" mindset that I could drink sugary drinks too. Fall two times, get back up three, that's what this is about. As long as you pick yourself up you are fine. I am finally back in ketosis (I believe) can't test yet because I'm on meds for a uti which stain the ketostix. Anywayss...don't feel bad...you aren't the only one who has been there. I also have broke the rules at the bar and had vodka tonics even though we aren't supposed to have bubbles. Lemme know if you wanna go out for a drink this summer!!
