  1. Hi All, So I have had two NSV that I never imaged that getting the sleeve would bring. First off I can sleep through the night. I can not remember when I was able to do it. The second when headed to the ladies room I no longer have that sudden panicky need to go before I am ready to. Amazing.

    My Fav Compliment so far

I am a teacher and one our custodians commented on my weight loss too. It was so sweet of her. Congrats on the NSV! I am sure many more will come!

    So crazy

CONGRATS on that NSV Jacob!!!! That is wonderful!!! I can't wait to have that same feeling of not being able to eat a small amount!! But eggs with chili???? LOL

    A visual NSV finally!

    I love it! Great NSV.
  5. Well, today I had to renew my work ID and take a photo of myself. I have been putting this off for months now because I am totally hating my hair! LOL But I got the hate mail again and this time they copied my boss, so it had to be done! I took a self portrait with my cell phone and up loaded it, but compared it to the old one and WOW!!! what a difference, the old one is almost 5 years old. I could not take a shot of the old one, the security words blocked out the picture. But I was able to find this shot of me from the Devils game that I went to in April of 2010 on my work computer, pretty big difference here too! Even though I have had the band in that time and only lost 50 and gained the same 50 pounds in that time! The huge jersey does nothing for the figure either! LOL
  6. 2 1/2 weeks later.. my NSV(non scale victory) is I am down 2 guchies sizes (for you non Western Pennsylvania people, that means underwear, and it is an actual word). :bananajump: Also.. do you celebrate your highest weight loss or what you weighed right before surgery or BOTH?? From when I started this journey 8 months ago, I am down 39lbs.. Since my surgery I am down 25lbs...

    What is your greatest NSV?

I think the funniest NSV I ever had was looking in a mirror at the grocery store, and not realizing that it was me in the mirror! This was, also, the day my daughter looked down an aisle and didn't see me, but I was there! Karen

    What is your greatest NSV?

I guess it is a NSV and also a problem. I have barley any clothes that fit me. I've never been as small as I am now (a XL top and 16w jeans, though I may be approaching a large). I only have 3 t shirts, and 2 pairs of jeans and 2 hoodies that fit. Besides workout clothes and my scrubs for work). I started cleaning out my closet and realized this today. I hate buying new clothes because I just keep needing new ones.

    What is your greatest NSV?

Oh everyone is AWESOME, I am never ever disappointed by the positivity when I need it!!! I can't wait to shop for itty bitty Victoria Secret panties!!! My want list might be long!!! I want a pair of nice jeans! I picked up my 2 year old grand daughter and she is 32 lbs and I thought, Wow that's a lot of weight to carry around!!! I can also bend over easier!!! My bra's are getting fastened on the tighter fastener's now!!! Can't wait to see more NSV!!!

    What is your greatest NSV?

Clothes are loose Some clothes that didn't fit last year do now I had to get a ring guard because my ring kept slipping off I can cross my legs again I don't get as winded climbing stairs I can walk for hours (shopping) without any pains I can fit in Victoria's Secret panties I'm noticing men are paying attention to me again, this has been pretty exciting.. even though I have a wondeful man it sure feels good to be noticed again lol My 8 and 9 year old neices noticed that I'm smaller and they're excited about it, that kinda meant alot more than when adults notice. I can't wait for more NSV, I've only just begun. Thank you for this post, I was feeling a little bummed today as I feel like I haven't lost any weight in about a month, I'm getting frustrated. But looking at my list has reminded me of how far I've come.

    What is your greatest NSV?

This isn't my greatest NSV.. but my most recent. Over the weekend my daughter and I were looking at pictures of a wedding that we were both in back in 2005 (maid of honor and flowergirl).. and I was over 300 lbs. My daughter was almost 4 in the pictures and she's almost 10 now.. so she doesn't remember me being that big. She asked a couple questions about it and said she thought I was pretty then.. but thinks I look so much better now. It was really sweet.
  12. I am really starting to see NSV (Non scale victories) and was wondering some of the others greatest and what I have to look forward too!!! My first and the one I am most thankful for, I was banded on 3/28/11 and on 4/49/11 I was the driver of a roll over accident and I survived and my band is FINE!!!! I was wearing my seatbelt which can save your life as we all know but can also cause the band to slip but thank God, I am alive and the band is great I had my first fill on 4/12/11. At 35 pounds off so far, my size 18 pants are falling off my shoes are loose I can get my rings back on scrubs used to be 1x now LARGE trouser socks used to be tight around my calf now they feel fine can fit into booths without stuffing!!!! my hubby can hug me, normally (sniff, sniff) I know there are more and there will be more I cannot wait I love this journey and I am so glad I did it!!!! For those that are getting discouraged, I hope this board offers you support!!! Peace, Joleen

    If this isn't motivation...

Yay! That is one great NSV. You will look great in your brother's wedding pictures. Karen

    If this isn't motivation...

Congratulations, Jenn! NSV's like that are awesome! I was banded five months ago, and have already cleared out my closet twice. I figure I'm never going to be this size again, so if it's too big, out it goes! The best part is having to replace the replacement clothes I bought after the first go-round. When my old clothes started falling off, I replaced things with new stuff that fit right at the time. And now THAT stuff is too big, so is being replaced again. It's a great feeling. People complain about the cost of clothes, but I figure I'm saving SO much by not eating like I used to, I can use that food money toward new clothes. It's a small price to pay, and I look good while I'm losing weight. One dinner out in the old days is equal to a new pair of pants or a dress shirt now. No more Omar the Tent Maker clothes for me. Dave
  15. Korilynn ~ How did your fill go, and how are you feeling -- more restriction or about the same? You are doing great! I am going in for my second fill next week -- my doctor is pretty conservative, so I'll probably get 1 cc (same as last time). Give or take a pound or two, I'm sitting on a plateau. I've been really diligent about sticking to 1200 calories and at least 65 grams of Protein per day, and exercising at least 30 minutes every day (I try for 60, but life sometimes gets in the way with my work schedule and the kids schedules). What kind of work outs are you doing? I'm walking/slow jogging either outside or on the treadmill and taking zumba classes. If I can get over my personal phobia of bathing suits :scared: , I would like to try swimming since it gets super hot and humid where I live. Erynkkgrl ~ Hi! I haven't noticed any restriction changes closer to AF arriving, but I do notice the Water gain which comes and goes quickly with it. Is your port angled? Did your doctor install it? I've heard that they can sometimes twist. Loozer2b ~ You're doing great -- congrats on the NSVs! I love hearing stuff like that from my fellow bandsters! I hear you on the busy family schedules -- sometimes I think my kids have a busier social life than I do -- and they are still really pretty young. LoL. Do you think you've hit your sweet spot? With this last fill, I felt like I had almost less restriction than before the fill -- sometimes it's almost like I don't have a band, and then I won't chew enough and I'll have a moment where the food goes down slowly and uncomfortably...KWIM? How are the rest of you doing? I hope everyone is well!
  16. Yesterday( here in Canada) was 1/2 price day on clothing. I was determined to go as I no longer can wear ANY of my old clothing and I don't have much $ to get new clothes. I am a head baker at a bakery and had a bread competition yesterday, so I started work at 1230 in the morning and did a 17 HOUR DAY!!!! Can we say exhausted???? Talk about an NSV too cause I did it without consuming boat loads of sugar (like I used to have to) just to make it thru the day!!! Anyways, as soon as I was done, I went to 2 VV's and got 2 pairs of jeans, 2 casual dress pants, 6 shirts, and a light zip-up hoodie for 45 BUCKS!!! Yahoo!!!! AND I bought a size 14 jeans that I can get on ( but not go out in yet)!!!! I haven't worn a size 14 in about 10+ years!!! Exhausted from yesterday's marathon work day, but here I am, posting from the sauna at the gum, after having such an intense lower body weights day that my legs are still vibrating ; ) MAN do I love the sleeve! And I love the support I get here! Thanks everyone!!! Off to work I go again......
  17. WOOHOO!! Those are AWESOME NSV's!!!!

    Bad day and NSV's

sorry to hear about the suckey day but the nsv were awesome wasn't they.
  19. I had a pretty crappy day today. My shirt had a stain on it, so I had to change what I was going to wear to work. The pants that I had on last week fit last week, this week they are too big. I figured they would still do. I get to work and someone tells me that I need smaller pants because they look like "granny drawers". Wow. So, I started feeling like I don't know how to shop or put together outfits anymore. I'm still trying to pull my shirts down because I'm used to be being longer (plus sized clothes are way longer than non-plus sized ones). Just gotta used to that I guess. The last time I was a size 14 I was like 16 years old. I'm 35 now, so I need to figure out how to be a 35 sexy and still feel comfortable. Plus, all I wanted today was a troth of French Fries. But, I didn't do it. Instead I went to aerobics. That crap about exercising making you feel better is a lie. I still was having a crappy and found myself not working as hard because I just couldn't get into it. Ended up buying some cute stuff at Walmart (in a size 14 and 12) and I feel pretty comformable. I noticed my shape was changing again, so I decided to measure myself. Here are my new measurements! Neck: was 16 now 14.5 Waist: was 42.3 now 39 Hips: 44.5 now 42.5 So, what started out as a craptastic day has ended on a brighter note. I'm very proud of the progress I've made, and I guess until I finish this transition I won't find my "style". That's okay, I can wait! Be easy!
  20. YAY you!!! Those are awesome NSV's!!! Love that you were gettin' your groove on to a little MJ!!

How is Everybody Doing? What's New?

Hi all.... I've not been on here in more than a month or so... been busy with the kids soccer and track schedules... I've been doing great... I've had 4 fills with my last one being about a month ago... and I think i'm at a really good point. I get frustrated because the scale won't move for 2 weeks, then boom... it drops... its crazy... but regular... I'm down 45-47 pounds.. depending on the day, lol... I have good restriction and have really had to think about my bite sizes and chewing... which is great. I've been trying to make better choices, but even if i'm not eating extremely healthy, i'm still eating wayyy less. I'm also seeing those NSV's i hear people talking about... I'm in Levi's that have been in my drawers for probably 8 years!! Whoop whoop!! I have a lot to lose yet, but i'm starting to get compliments... (haven't told alot of people I even had surgery)... It really feels good to finally be on the right track... I'm soooo happy I made this leap, and hope and pray I continue to see success Congrats to all of you... keep up the good work!! Thank you Dr. Watkins!
  22. WOOHOO!!! Congrats on Onederland and those AWESOME NSVs!!!!

    Update after surgery

Trix, congrats girl! I am glad that you are in such high spirits - and I hope it stays that way. Good luck with your weight loss - gotta love the NSV's (I am not a scale person either). :cheer2:
  25. I have been on a terrible stall, flirting with onederland for weeks, losing and regaining the same two pounds a number of times. But today, I am 198.5!!!!!! I haven't been under 200 in probably 24 years. Can't wait to keep losing and shopping for normal sized clothes. It's so liberating! My tickers says I've lost 86 pounds, but I have actually been 111 pounds heavier at my highest weight. Or at least the highest that's been recorded. NSVs: Yesterday was my 35th wedding anniversary. We were at a family reunion for my husband's side of the family and there were relatives of his that I hadn't seen in a long time. One of my husband's uncles asked someone if I was Mike's new wife!!!! (His brother has a new wife, so he knew there was a new wife somewhere). Made my day as well as my husband's day! Last week I was with a group of people I was going to be taking to a local restaurant/dancehall. One of the ladies asked if she needed to change clothes into something dressier. I told her I was going just like I was, and she said, "Yes, but you're all cute and sexy!" Two weeks ago I was in line at the register at Walmart. An older fellow checking out at the register started a conversation with me. We chatted for a few minutes and then he stopped, looked at me and said, "Has anyone told you just how pretty you are?" I almost started jumping up and down and doing a happy dance, but I restrained myself and said, "Not in at least 20 years, but thank you so much!" This morning I was dancing around the kitchen to a Michael Jackson song on the radio and I did a dance step that I haven't been able to do in a million years! Ha! Shocked the heck out of me that I could do this certain little twirl step again. Really, I cannot wait to get to goal, but the journey itself has been rewarding (and sometimes disheartening). No regrets.
