  1. Today I woke up around 9am ish and I still have no appetite just so you know. I Grab myself a Atkins chocolate protein shake for breakfast (first time trying the chocolate kind and i felt fine after my first couple sips so I continued) and I still can only drink half at a time. When I was done it was around 10:00 and Had a few sips of Gatorade zero At 10:30. At around 10:45 I decided to go for a walk and made myself a task to walk around my court for 10 minutes since last week I would do you 5 minutes 2 times a day. Well today during my walk I felt fine I didn’t think I pushed it until I came back inside my house and sat down. I felt slightly nauseous. At about 11:00 The nausea I have had lesson so I decided to make an appointment to get my nails done and at around 12 I started to get more nauseous, more than earlier! I thought it’s fine it’ll go away like earlier so at 12:45 I started to get ready to leave for my appointment to the nail salon and I sit down crying from how nauseous I was. I felt like throwing up but I wouldn’t. I ended up calling at 1:15 to cancel my appointment. After that I was telling my mother whom stayed home with me last week just Incase and she was telling me to just rest and not go anywhere. So I lay down and fell asleep at 1:40 and woke up an hour later feeling like nothing happened. Has this happened to anyone? I am 8 days post op Surgery weight: 266.8 Current weight as of yesterday: 254

    Just Ugg and Venting

I'm not really asking for advice, I just need to rant somewhere. And my friends have heard enough of it. Don't have a therapy appoint for another couple weeks. So I came here. Had my 9 month (well, because of delays 10 month) check up today. Ever since February, I've felt rotten. The reflux has gotten better, but I'm still pretty much unable to eat much other than soft foods. Sometimes I can eat fish or tofu, but they usually cause pain. Sometimes terrible pain. I've also had a migraine for 3 months now. Doc says that the food issues may be caused by a small hernia, and to fix that he'd need to convert to bypass. Which for a whole host of reasons I can't do. And he's not actually sure the hernia is causing it. So now I'm left to know that I did this horrible thing to myself to feel better and stave off future health issues - I really couldn't give two craps what I look like. Instead I feel like crap on a stick every day - and apparently that isn't going to change. I feel like I I made this huge decision that has made my life worse, and there just isn't anything I can do about it. I DREAM of veggies - especially nice, crisp raw veggies. My diet was so varied and healthy before - I ate mostly fish/veg, but a lot. And now 90% of my diet is dairy. Which I don't even like. It is just so hard to know I've made a decision to try to make my life better which made my life worse. THis is all compounded by the terrible migraines. So, I'm just tired. And venting. But, he basically released me to not see him anymore if I get my bloodwork done by my GP. So there's that. And at least he didn't say that patronizing thing that most people say - "Well, but at least you lost all that weight, that has to feel good." No, no it doesn't.
  3. I haven’t been exercising like I should and have been looking at classes to get me started. What on Earth possessed me to sign up for camp gladiator? I know exactly what it was, the 4 weeks for $10 sale they are running today. I may drop dead in class. 🤦‍♀️
  4. Actually I have not taken my measurements. I have even read posts today where that is discussed and still no 'light bulb' went off..lol. I do remember 3 week stalls...and that is what I first chalked everything up to plus the 2 quick hospitalizations in week 2 and 3 for IV fluids but now I'm 5 weeks out. One of our other July siblings MeowAMR posted a reply that resonated with me...what I guess is at the heart of what is nattering away at me is that for 3 full weeks...I have not lost more than 1 lb. For OVER 3 full weeks. I'm so numbers driven that my head just keeps getting wrapped up in that at some point it is calories in vs. out. Well, I know the calories 'In' and have rough grasp on calories "out" and the math just does not work out. I'm not saying the net effect of the 2 is enough to signify that I should have lost another 10 lbs...but it is enough to have equaled at least a 4 to 5 lb lost. I've been thinking of replacing, outside of 2 protein shakes to get in my protein (320 calories together, 60 grams of protein) any other 'food' and go back to sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles and bring my calories back to 400 or less. I will say when I was on 400 or less, when I went to do any activity, I felt woozy. Can we get used to it though? I haven't seen my dr since my post op visit and then him seeing me in hospital a few weeks ago. They are 2 hrs away with traffic so that is why I'm seeking a nutritionist and a therapist closer to home. My car is NOT reliable enough to drive that far and the last time I did, I ended up on the side of one of the busiest rush hour freeways for 3 hours in 105 degree heat and thought I'd pass out.
  5. Hey guys, sorry it's been way too long, but I'm checking in. Feeling great!!!! But..... just wait around for 10 minutes and I might bite off your head!!!!!! So, mood swings have been going for the last few days, I'm not a scientist or doctor but I pretty sure I know why they are happening. Other then the swings and sometimes lack of energy, it's been so much better than I originally thought it might be. I've been slowly been getting more active again, taking long walks and can't wait for my 1st post-op visit. I'm still on liquids(anything that goes through a strainer) and will be until my 1st visit. I'm guessing I will remain on liquids until mid-September, but who knows. I really feel like I'm recovering at a fast pace, but not going to take any chances. We all work so so hard to get to this point and I know the cost. I really hope everyone is doing great post-op and off to a great start! Can't wait to post my 1st before and after photos too!
  6. 5'2", ♀️10m PO, maintaining 115.1 lbs Yesterday, Mon Aug 26: I was super tired all day yesterday and aside from doing some grocery shopping and errands (and doing regular house stuff), I spent most of my time sitting/laying down. I even had an unintentional 4 hour nap on the couch after dinner, and was still tired enough to conk out at midnight for an uninterrupted sleep overnight. Interestingly, I was also feeling hungrier than normal yesterday (or maybe not hungrier, maybe I just was in the mood to eat since I was couch potato-ing...?) Felt like another day of all-day eating. *Also had a dumping episode about 30 mins after the protien ice cream eating from below. Which makes me wonder why I didn't dump at all during vacay when I was eating waaaay more sugar/crap than my measly protein ice cream portion last night..??? Yesterday's Menu: Totals: 1743 cals - 139g protein - 56g NET carbs - 86g fat 10:00am (3 cals) 1 black coffee w/ Stevia 11:00am (624 cals) * ate about 1/2 of this * 65g chia pudding with protein powder, blueberries, pumpkins seeds & 1tbsp almond butter salad greens & cucumber w/ homemade vinaigrette 30g cheddar cheese 100g pan-fried chicken 12:30pm * ate rest of 11am meal * 2:00pm (97 cals) black coffee 2 wheat thins with some peppercorn pate 1 square of dark chocolate 5:00pm (295 cals) 1 fl oz Rose Gin salad greens & yellow peppers & jalepenos w/ homemade vinaigrette 1 tbsp fried sweet onions in butter & olive oil 15g cheddar cheese 60g grilled sirloin steak 11:40pm (724 cals) * ate all this over a 2½ period...dunno why, really just felt like eating * salad greens & yellow peppers & jalepenos w/ homemade vinaigrette 1 tbsp fried sweet onions in butter & olive oil 100g grilled sirloin steak 52g peppercorn pate w/ 50g beef jerky "chips ¾ protein ice cream Yesterday's Exercise: NONE. October 2018 Sleevers

I'm 10 months post surgery and had been getting frustrated with how slow the progress on the scale had been lately. My husband's employer sends us to Cedar Point every summer (which was not exactly the happiest place for me to be pre-surgery). This year I knew would be better as I have lost over 90 lbs but I was ecstatic to find out I could comfortably fit into the Calvin Klein Jean's my daughter bought me in January. So this past Saturday, I felt like a kid, wore my size 10s and rode every ride we could without having to take the walk of shame off a single one! We had so much fun my husband bought us season passes for next year! I cant thank this community enough for being there to support me and encourage me. Without that, I am sure I would never have made it this far.

    My Plastic Surgery Thread

I'll be digging into his before and afters @Healthy_life2! His pricing looks to be pretty affordable. It's hard to tell on what they consider a procedure, would it be $10-$15K and it includes everything listed? So a total of $20K - $30K. If so that would be quite the deal! Upper body (Liposuction, breast lift, tummy tuck, arm lift) Lower body (Liposuction, butt lift, thigh lift, lower body lift) One thing that seems unusual is the tummy tuck is included with the upper body lift, instead of lower body lift. I'm not sure what to think about that one.

    Surgery date approacheth

8/27 ladies, best of luck and speedy recovery! I wish I was close. I'm 2 months away as of tomorrow. I made my appointment in June and finally had my first doc visit the end of July and surgery on 10/28. I'm so happy for you all, keep us posted how you're doing!
  11. Hey everyone!! I had the sleeve done in June of 2018. I lost almost 60 lbs. My start weight at point of surgery was approx. 200 and I got down to 143 within 4 months after surgery. I then got pregnant and successfully delivered my baby boy on August 1, 2019. On day of delivery I weighed 174. Since delivery I’m down to 147 and it hasn’t been a month yet. The sleeve worked during pregnancy and even now. I monitored my weight and continued to eat good while pregnant. But mostly I’m never hungry. I said all this to say that it is possible to be pregnant within the first year of getting the sleeve surgery and maintain your weight. Just monitor everything and remember to be as healthy as you can! Below are pictures of before pregnancy at 143, me at 9 months and me today at 147!!! FYI: I had a csection so I’m sure I still have inflammation.
  12. I am scheduled for RNY on 10/14. I’m nervous and excited. Still need to do some tests. I haven’t order any shakes or anything but I am wondering what is a must have for the first weeks after surgery. Vitamins, supplements, abdominal binder, etc? I don’t want to stock up on shakes since I have heard that taste can change after surgery. What are your thoughts? Would you be interested in opening a private Facebook group for us to share our journey?

    Back pain

Any pain that gets to a level 10 warrants a call to the doctor. Don't let yourself suffer!
  17. Today I was experimenting with my morning shake and it came out so smooth and rich, it was as sweet and decadent as any fast food shake I have ever eaten that I thought I would share . First the statistics: 295 Calories 3 Grams Fat 37 Grams Protein 27 Grams Carbs Ingredients : 1 scoop milk chocolate shake mix 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1 scoop Isopure Unflavored Protein Mix and 1/2 cup Ice. Blend together in your blender. I had mine between 8 am and 10 am (it makes 16 ounces so it takes awhile to get it all down) but haven't been hungry all day. I have been sipping on the Isopure Infusions throughout the day, striving to get 8 ounces down every hour. I cannot believe how good I am feeling so soon after my surgery. I also wan ted to let you all know how glad I am that I found this website and how much I appreciate the postings from you all.
  18. I had RNY done on 8/19 as well! it's so cool to see there are others out there with the same date! Hello 😊

    Chewing Slowly

you're supposed to chew your food slowly because your stomach won't churn nearly as much as it does now - so you have to "help" it. That said, I don't chew for 10-15 minutes anymore - but I do still chew more slowly and thoroughly than I did pre-surgery.
  21. Hi all, Anyone have an October 2019 surgery date? Mine is 10/28/19 (my surgeon is away for 2 weeks, so I'm at the end of the month). Oh, the holidays are going to be so weird this year (my birthday too, which is 11/19).
  22. Hello- I am researching and exploring the option to get a gastric bypass. As I am reading posts and looking at people experiences post-op with regard to eating behaviors, I see some mention of slow chewing. When one is on more solid foods and/or complex foods I have read some people might take as much as 10-15 minutes between bites as well as chewing thoroughly during that time. Is that slow, deep chewing of food a habit I will consciously need to change and monitor, or does the surgery, the full feeling and the nausea and pain dictate the slow chewing? In other words, will the slow chewing and long time between bites become a natural thing because of my new stomachs capacity?

    The Maintenance Thread

(EDIT: I was in the middle of writing this and was going to ask for maintenance updates from others when the posts form Cheeseburg and Fluffy came in...we are on same page this morning, literally LOL ) ---------- Ok, meant to write this up a couple days ago on my 10-month post-op "month-aversary, but better late than never, I guess. Anyhoo, an update on the maintenance path so far: I'm now about 3 months into maintenance and I'm feeling the groove. Yeah, I lost 2+ lbs this last month, but I'm not sweating it. I'm still in a healthy BMI range, feel and look great, and comments from the annoying 2-3 people now roll off my back for the most part (though on my less patient days I say a silent "eff you" underneath my understanding smile). Not counting my record-breaking calorie intake when on vacation this month, when I was upward of 3000+ cals a day, I'd say I've been averaging about 1500-2000 for the non-vacation days. But I think my sweet spot is still a liiiiiitle bit higher based on my exercise level*. I notice the loosening of my restriction. I still can't eat very much nor very fast compared to people with normal stomachs, but I'd say I can eat about 25-35% more in volume than 3 months ago...specifically, I can eat about 6-7 bites in a row now before feeling the need to take a break. *My exercise level has increased. I suspect I transferred my focus from weight loss to fitness/exercise. I am obsessed with running a 10K consistently and have been super motivated by the results of my arm & stomach toning efforts to keep it up. I often see people doing stuff and think, "hey, I can do that too", and then I do it or keep trying. I'm reverting to being the annoying little sister my siblings complained about who lives by the anything-you-can-do-I-can-do-better mantra. What is happpppennning??!? Mr. loves it though, he is totally digging that I'm interested and doing all his fave things with him (well except cycling, I will never love it...it hurts my bony butt...so not sure about a previous lofty goal of completing a triathalon next year...but I digress). Finally, I am trying to wean myself off my PPI. It has not been successful. I find that I can go without for about 2 days and then I get to too acidy. Have an appt with my PCP this week to discuss. Would love to hear/read other maintainers' updates ❤️❤️

    Any September Sleevers?

I am from the Chicago area and spent 10 years in SW Florida.... the heat in the desert areas is definitely different. We are definitely "hotter than hell" lol, but we aren't "hot and sticky". We can sit in the shade and feel just a little cooler (can't do that in the midwest). We can jump in a pool and while drying we feel cooler (just feel sticky in the midwest). Also... if you compare the same temperature days... our 80 feels like 80, whereas the humidity makes 80 feel a lot hotter (heat index). Oh well, off topic now!

Time for another day of work. The camisole is a size large and super baggy on me. My jeans are a size 10 and big on the waist. But it works. Have a great day everyone.
