  1. Oikos Pro yogurt. 20g of protein per cup. Vanilla and Peach are my favorites. Mix with fruit serving or a bit of granola for crunch. edited to add: I also have used the 3 ounce proteins shots. The taste isn’t so good but it’s only 3 ounces and gives you I believe 20 to 30 g of protein.
  2. I started losing my hair at 2 months post-op and it stopped after my dietician recommended that I drink an ounce or 2 of keifer per day which was at 4 months post-op. I did it for a month because she didn't tell me how long I needed to until the next month when I went back for my visit and I was only supposed to do it for a week. However, it seemed to reset my gut microbes and helped with a the constant nausea I was having. I feel as though I can relate to what you've been going through. I've been losing slowly myself and they have me tracking all of my foods so that I am noticing how many carbs I am eating. My program suggests limiting carbs to 30 grams per day. I find this extremely difficult especially after the surgery because I get really tired after eating a higher protein meal. I do meal prep. I take a cup of chicken and marinate it in different marinades, cook it and I freeze it in small containers so that I have snacks or ready cooked protein for meals. I keep cottage cheese, boiled eggs, and string cheese or cubed cheese handy in the fridge. I have tried to change all my high carb foods like potato chips, ice cream, and milk to the high protein versions. I get the quest high protein chips, fairlife milk, and if I want any ice cream I get the yasso greek yogurt frozen bars. My biggest problem is the vending machine at work. Cheez-its are my kryptonite and I'm just really lucky that the past 3 weeks they haven't restocked the machine with Cheez-its 🤣. I have a hard time with drinking the no sugar drinks like diet coke or coke zero. Too many of any diet drink and my stomach is upset. Also, I'm having a hard time with drinking plain water because I don't like the taste. When I saw the dietician this month she suggested that I get an infuser water bottle and it's helping. She told me that I needed to make sure that I was drinking enough water, reaching my protein goals, and try to keep my carbs as close to 30 as I can. She also suggested that I start doing some cardio every day 15-30 minutes. I have lost a total of 60 pounds including 15 before the surgery. I still want to lose another 30-40 pounds and I'm 7months post-op. I've only been losing about 5 lbs each month since about 2 months post-op. I'm hoping to see more weight loss with the changes that I keep implementing. I was very discouraged when I started noticing everything that I was doing but my doctor and dietician were so supportive. They were very encouraging and told me that the surgery is my tool but that I would have to make some long-term lifestyle changes and the fact that I'm noticing what I'm doing and trying to make corrections that I was still on the right path. I'm sure that you will also reach your goals and the hair loss will stop eventually. Once the hair loss stops you'll have a bunch of baby hairs growing in 😁.
  3. Convenience is also a thing to consider. For example, Jello makes ready-made sugar free Jello cups and sugar free chocolate pudding cups. I always have these on hand for my chocolate craving that pops up every now and then. I also always keep Sarrgento low fat mozzarella string cheese and lower fat Babybels on hand. I always have Chobani zero sugar Greek yogurt on hand as well. I know you said it makes you gag right now and I went through something similar because i honestly dislike Greek yogurt but I have learned to eat it. I buy multiple flavors to keep it "fresh". I can finally eat fresh fruit and vegetables so I buy a bag of frozen blueberries to add to my yogurt cup. That really helps the yogurt go down smoothly. I also still drink a Premier protein Chocolate Peanut butter ready-made shake every day. That is the only one I can get down without difficulty although the cookies and creme does taste just like Oreos! Maybe try a different brand/flavor of protein shake. I'm 3.5 months post sleeve and just met with my nutritionist. They love protein shakes for us and told me to continue to drink them. I have not had bread, pasta or rice since my surgery 3.5 months ago. That was something I prepared myself for prior to surgery. I will make enough dinner to have it as a leftover for lunch at work the next day. There are so many lower fat/ no sugar options. Use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. Add salsa to it and you have Spanish rice! Use zoodles or spaghetti squash for pasta substitute. Use a lettuce leaf instead of bread for burgers. Use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Dip veggies in hummus or ranch dip made with greek yogurt for more protein. I think if you make changes as everyone has suggested you will be successful on your journey. Don't get discouraged because you've already realized you need to change how you eat. That is already a win for you! Good luck, I know you will be ok! We are always here for support!

    yogurt after surgery

yep - the others are correct. It's the added sugar that they want you to avoid (or really limit). Most of the sugar in yogurt (unless it's got added sugar in it because of the flavorings) is lactose, which is naturally occurring in milk. I eat yogurt every day and have since my surgery nine years ago. I eat very little meat, so having Greek yogurt for breakfast starts my day off with a good amount of protein.

    June Sleevers!

I was sleeved on the 4th. I was to begin softs- eggs, cheeses, Peanut Butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, soy milk- this past Monday. I am having such a hard time getting my fluids in that my doc wants me to add another Protein shake to the 1 I'm already doing and just work on my fluids. He says to try stuff as I feel up to it. Laughing cow cheese wedge and a mozzarella cheese stick have gone down okay. Took forever to eat tho. I just tried a taste or two of peanut butter and so far so good. Completely creamy Soups seem to be alright. Have to go very slow w/those tho. Monday, I can add tuna, canned chicken, Beans, fish, seafood, nuts. Not sure. I'm looking forward to tuna. Hope it goes well! LOL! I was told to re-start everything 5 days out. Everything I have is chewable. I've heard others say they started right away while others were told to wait longer than I was.
  6. I used to adore milk chocolate and I find it sickeningly sweet now. In the same vein, I thought dark chocolate was horrid pre-surgery but I absolutely love it now. I also love iced coffee now and rarely had it before. I can't stand tortillas anymore... it just feels like a giant mass of dough in my mouth. I also really don't care for pork anymore. It just seems really rich now. I now love greek yogurt, chicken wings, and eggs; all of which I rarely ate in my old life. I'm sure there is other stuff but I can't think of it right now. Amanda
  7. I was hoping it would change my taste and I would like more things but nope I really want to like yogurt but I can't find any that I do like, they all are nasty! LOL I used to LOVE hotdogs and I don't like them anymore, I'm a little bummed about his one, I miss them! LOL I also don't like chocolate candy bars (hersey, twix, kitkat) anymore! YAY! This is a Great thing! LOL
  8. Thanks girls! Yes I'm on Stage 1 All liquid diet. But I don't see anything bedsides Jello and popsicles. But it says: If you have reached your 480z. (Which I have). Then you can move to Almond milk, 1% milk, Kefir drinkable yogurt or blenderized low fat soups(chicken noodle/puréed). Yes. I'll call my surgeons office 2morrow morning for sure regarding the pudding.

Gone for Good Club - April 2006

Ha! Dont worry Kathy - you can put that varooom car in neutral. Today I had TWO hershey w/almond bars and (so far) SIX cups of lo-carb yogurt cups (6???)... plus the meals Ive eaten. So Im not 1 less pound then you any longer. :biggrin1: The PIG has arrived! **for the record, I didnt take my tenuate today. Thank God something is helping.** I even FEEL like Ive gained. :paranoid
  10. Last fill was 4.5 total ccs and so far it's amazing. This morning I took a while to eat yogurt and I didn't eat most of the fresh blueberries I storred in with it. I wasn't hungry all day although I knew I should eat, but I was out shopping and running errands. I came home and had a chicken lean cusine...well I couldn't finish it-seriously-couldn'tfinish a lean cusiene? That's insane!! I ate most of the chicken, but couldn't finish the apples. Hopefully, I'll be able to eat a little more on the cruise (but not over do it). I would love to stay at this level for a while, but I am not sure how long it will last!
  11. I'm almost a year out and I still drink Protein shakes for breakfast because they're just more convienent and easy to get down in the morning. Most of the time I feel tighter so I sometimes have trouble eating anything solid until lunch time, but I'm not big on breakfast anyway. The band doesn't really allow you to eat in a hurry, if you are going to eat any kind of solid foods you have to find the time for it, it's very difficult to eat on the go, which is also why I normally stick to shakes. These are some breakfasts ideas I have occassionally: Chobani yogurt (you hate yogurt so this doesn't help) Egg beaters, sometimes I'll add some veggies or some low fat meat and cheese 2 hard boiled eggs with a sprinkle of salt with a slice of wheat toast w/ spray butter or just the eggs when you're on the go Breakstone cottage cheese doubles Kashi Go Lean Cereal with silk almond milk or skim milk (some of these cereals have 9-13 grams of protein per serving). sometimes I'll snack on it dry when I don't have time. Smart Ones (weight watchers) breakfast meals, a little high in carbs but still high in protein so once in a while its not so bad. You can pop the sandwiches or wraps in the microwave and just eat them easily on the go. But I would only suggest eating solid foods on the go prior to surgery. Hope this helps!
  12. Hey everyone, Im in the exact same boat! It feels good to know that others are going through the same thing I am. I was sleeved on the 25th and am 6 days post-op. I feel really bubbly and gassy in my tummy. I get a pain on my left side of my breastbone and sometimes feel like I swallowed a big bubble of air. I was just going to ask if the gas they pump you up with is supposed to hang around this long. I hope it will go away soon. I was able to eat some yogurt this morning and it was soooo yummy. I tried some smooth cream of wheat this afternoon and it was a no go! I cant wait to start on more mushy foods. Hope everyone gets feeling better soon!
  13. I was noticing this too....and specifically when I was put in a stressful situation. I normal can eat 3-4 big shrimp, but I was around some family that yell all the time and being put in the situation made me uncomfortable and stressed. WHen they made me 4 shrimp I could barely get a couple bites down (I cut each shrimp into about 4 bites.) I haven't really paid attention about the relationship with BM's but I have to say that I am really constipated, but hungry (or what I think is hunger). And now I'm trying to get yogurt down and its just grossing me out. Go figure.
  14. Hi Jilly I'm having trouble getting all my water in too, I feel so full all the time. Plus water tastes weird! I have been drinking vitamin water and that helps, but they are so sweet and I don't like a lot of sweets. I have been eating refried beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding, soups etc. I love the fact that I eat only a few bites and I'm full. I have lost 12lbs in 11 days, and I don't have as much to lose, so you will lose even more and faster. I went back to work Friday, and I can tell you by about 5 hrs. I was feeling it. I made it through both Friday and Saturday, just tired when I was off. I took my stitches out today, well all of them except the ones around the drain. I had one spot that still is not healed enough so I will wait a few more days. I love my sleeve, I can't believe how fast I'm losing and that I'm not hungry all the time, it's great!!! I know you will love yours too, no maintenance no fuss!

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

jerseygirl I'm in a similar situation...I've started eating yogurt with Protein Powder for Breakfast, today I'm going to try premade tuna salad in a cup I've been eating Soups at lunch the meat and soft veggies and dinner I made some meat with condensed mushroom Soup (don't add water) in the crockpot cooks it very tender. I've been adding sugar free popcicles of some sort in the evening or a Protein Shake. I also eat low fat piminto (sp) spread or cream cheese on Triscuts, I can only eat a couple of these but they go down ok and don't get stuck. I find the rules they've been telling us about all this time really have to be stuck to at this point that's why I was feeling so bad a few weeks ago eating to much, to big, not chewing... I still can't get a lot of Water and my milk consumption is down but a small meal last me a long time. The whole thing makes Kirk feel bad cause when he's home and we go out I order a side of mashed potatoes and eat a quarter of it.

    September Was Your Progress?

I was just cleared to take my arthritis medicine. It's really been too painful to walk much without it. And I live upstairs so even a walk to the car and back has been difficult. He told me I had to take some food with it so I usually eat yogurt.

    Cottage cheese... yuck!

I agree...cottage cheese is icky! And, I also agree...why not eat greek yogurt instead!

    Cycling Questions

@@OKCPirate @@McButterpants I did some googling and there are some great trade in places near me so I'll try and see if I can trade in my bike for either a hybrid or a road bike. How heavy is your hybrid @@McButterpants? I live on the second floor and have to carry whatever bike I get up and down a narrow flight of stairs. That's part of the hassle with my cruiser. But I do like idea of being able to ride on rougher terrain at some point. @@catfish87 I did the yogurt this morning and didn't have any nausea but I was also drinking the Water with the electrolyte tab at every stop light. I have a couple cyclist friends who swear by Gu but I don't know if it's worth it for only an hour bike ride. Have you had any experience with it?

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Sleeved 6 days ago in Mexico. Sw: 234 Cw: 221 GW: 165. Just started protein drink, and having a really hard time with fluids. Feels like a balloon blowing up in my chest every drink I take. GasX doesn’t do the trick. However, Warm fluids do a little better for me, and using a straw now and it seems to be getting a little better each day. Take 3mg of requip for my RLS and can’t crush pill, so I take a teaspoon of yogurt at bedtime right before I take my pill- get a little bit of a tummy ache but nothing like when I tried taking it without the yogurt.
  22. My dr did the first fill at 4 weeks and then scheduled every month. I am now at 6.5 cc and I have great restriction. I did skip a couple of months and have not been in for the last two months. I am still fairly tight in the morning, so I have yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast and can eat harder foods for lunch and dinner.

    January 2014 Sleevers

I had my surgery January 6th at tufts medical center in Boston MA. Everything has gone smooth so far. I came home from the hospital yesterday 1/8/14. I was 217 1/3 weighed in today 1/9 and I was 210.2. I have been very full. Today I had a carnation instant breakfast with 8 oz skim milk, a small decaf coffee with skim, and some diet cran grape juice for breakfast. Lunch time I had a Dannon light Greek cherry yogurt. That has 12 grams of protein. Dinner I had 1/2 c low fat cottage cheese (I couldn't quite finish it) I also sipped on 16 ounces of water with crystal light throughout the day. Tomorrow I will work on drinking more fluid. I did some walking today. Was shopping at Home Depot with my hubby. Feeling really good. The incision sights are sore, but I am taking my pain pills to it isn't too bad. I am not even tempted to eat anything I shouldn't have. I am 39 and have 3 kids 19, 12, and 9. My mother is staying with me and helping so I can rest and not have to cook for everyone just yet. So excited to start this journey. Now when it start getting smaller sizes I won't be too nervous to give away the big clothes. In fear I may need them again later.
  24. The first month was easier when I knew the things to eat like cream soup or yogurt..but now that I can eat regular food I'm struggling a little with what to eat so I know out of fear I'm not eating enough! I wish I had a laid out menu everyday to follow!
