  1. It is great to have all of you on here who are experiencing the same things and we are all about the place in our new lifestyle. I have had two recent times where I got sick from food that I thought was OK. In both cases it was grilled! I had grilled fish and a grilled burger. I think I have discovered that the food was just too dry. Almost after the first few bites I felt nauseous and actually got the "foamies" and was sick to my stomach several times over the course of a few hours. I was determined to try the burger again and this time I put melted cheese on it, lots of condiments and cut it into little bites and it went down fine. The grilled fish was at a restaurant and I wasn't brave enough to try it again so I fed it to the cat. LOL. Claire - I'm glad you are home safe again in the UK. Thank for the encouragement on my NSV's. KimR - I hope you are feeling better now and didn't buy that many of that brand of protein bars Tammy - I still can barely walk to my car so you are an inspiration to me JannetH - you are such an inspiration and supportive. Glad you are in this forum Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Carol

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Very nice ladies!! I did have a small NSV yesterday myself. The shirt I was wearing in my Avatar pic now looks like a sack on me. It was kinda my favorite shirt, but that's ok. I'm sure I can find a new favorite shirt in a smaller size just fine, thank you! Kristin

    October Bandsters!!!

So yesterday I went ahead an joined Lifetime Fitness! Best decision I've made this week! I will be starting a T.E.A.M. Training bootcamp class next week for a couple months @ 3x's a week with a personal trainer with a small group of other members who have some of the same fitness goals as myself. I will also be attending Aqua-Zumba on Sunday mornings. So excited about Aqua-Zumba!!! I can't wait. The best part about Lifetime Fitness is that it's 24/7 & it's literally less than 7mins from my house. U can't be that!!! They have rock climbing, aquatics, aerobics, hip-hop, volleyball, sauna, full beauty spa, yoga, & open swim with water slides and many activities for kids. Also a healthy restaurant inside the gym. And the best part of it all is it was not too expensive & I got a couple discounts because they have open house going on right now. Yay!!! I'm also excited about the fact that they are 24/7, so by me working nights I can go to the gym right afterwork instead of going home first and having to wait for other exercise options. ♥ So this morning I went to Aqua-Zumba... 60mins of Aqua-Zumba, 20mins in the hot-tub, 20mins of walking laps in the pool & 5mins in the steam room = over 700calories burned & a relaxed body ready for a LONG NAP!!! I enjoyed my first day at Lifetime Fitness!!! ♥ Back tomorrow morning for another 8am aquatic class!!! I have done pretty good the past few weeks. I gained 2#'s after Thanksgiving but the turned around and lost 4.8#'s and the another 4.9#'s this past Friday. Before I joined Lifetime Fitness, I was simply playing games on the Wii, attending Jazzercise, and walking away the pounds with Leslie Sansone. I plan on switching things up in my exercise routine to keep my body guessing. Hopefully this helps. I have had a couple NSV, first fitting a jacket I couldn't even close about 3months ago... My work pants are literally falling off me without a belt... I can see my collarbones... I have some restriction. I am staying under 1400 calories a day and I am satisfied for 3-4hours after eating. So as long as I continue to drop weight, I'm not going in for a fill. I hope everyone else is doing pretty good. Hope everyone has a great Christmas & New Year!!! 2012 is our year!!!

Hi MOM, I lost 1# for this week. Had my second fill last Tuesday and still don't feel much restriction!?!? So I scheduled another one for 11-28-06. Hope I get it right this time around. But I have had some wicked awsome NSV's! I put on my winter coat and I could ZIP the thing with room to spare!

No loss and no gain for me this week. I have an NSV - I went shopping this weekend and bought a couple pair of shorts and a skirt from Tommy - size 8; I think they run big but the tag still says 8!

    October Chat

Hey Two days in a row!! Yee Haw! I figure since I am never going to get promoted, I may as well take a lunch... :heh: Dianne - good to see you... Sounds like you had a great time... Glad your DH is showing his appreciation in an appropriately lavish way. I can't wait to see the rock. Don't sweat the 1.5 lbs. You'll be well rid of that in no time. Just step away from the cookies! Trust me, nobody understands the cookie compulsion more than me. Patty - trepidation is to be expected. When money is tight, it's scary to give it to a stranger in hopes he will help. Everyone is thinking good thoughts for you. We'll get you banded, yet. Hugs!! My boss made a point of telling me that I was 2nd in line for the job and he knows that other opportunities will arise for me in the future. Don't know how much that actually means - but it was a warm fuzzy in the aftermath of the being pissed off. Kat - I can't see my toes, either. I am happy when I look down and my boobs block my belly from view. That was an actuall NSV for me... lol! No need to send the snakes to the gal... It isn't HER fault my boss hired her. Now, if you wanted to ship a few to HIM... lol! How is your daughter doing? Allison - Great to see you! 40 lbs Rocks! Since surgery? or since the Pre-op? I am keeping track of both, since I have been such a flake since the surgery. Seriously - I have only lost 25 lbs since my actual surgery date - but I lost 16 lbs the week before - so 36 lbs sounds better... Hopefully my renewed enthusiasm for (sorry about the E-word, folks) Exercise will help with that. Did you find a new job, yet? Or are you taking a little State Sponsored Vacation? Cindy - thank goodness, it isn't likely that I will be expected to train the gal who got my job - THIS time... but that has actually happened to me on several occassions. My question is: Doesn't the boss have ANY clue how much it pisses you off to have to train the person who got the job you applied for? Or is it some sadistic thing that they do for their own ammusement? Anyway - yes - we plan on going Saturday. Whether we actually make it out of the house or not is always a question, though. If you send me your cell number, I will give you a call. Eileenie - sorry about the shirts. They looked like they had potential. Bummer. Hope Olivia is doing ok. Hugs!! :bounce: Well - lunch is over again. Hugs to everybody else. Hope you post again, soon! Irene
  8. I had a great weekend! I went to silver lake Sunday and went to the dunes for the first time ever. So much fun! A bunch of us went out to eat after and the only place we could find had a late night (it was 10pm) menu of apps abd pizza. So I got a thin crust pepperoni pizza. Ate 2 small pieces. It was delicious, and totally curbed my craving for pizza. Monday I grilled out with my neighbor and cleaned my house a little. After having a few cheats this weekend, i weighed myself today, and I was still down 3.7 lbs! For a total of 73 so far in 14 weeks. Couldn't be happier! Plus, I wouldn't have gone to the dunes this weekend, if it had been 4 months ago. I wouldn't have been comfortable. But being 70 lbs lighter and having so much more confidence and how much easier it is to get around... best weekend! Plus, my bff's jeep has 35 inch tires on it. I've been scared to get in it without a step stool (I'm only 5'1 so the tires alone are over half my height, plus I had acl reconstruction 4 years ago and have been scared to "jump" with how much I weighed) and tried it this weekend by grabbing the roll bar and pulling myself up. I CAN DO IT!! I was so excited/proud of myself. A good NSV right there for me!
  9. I have a NSV and a scale victory today! First off I am finally in onederland!!! And I went shopping today and actually fit in a size Large at Pink. Never thought I could wear there clothes. Don't mind the hair and No makeup!

    Exercise challenge - 2008

I did it, I did it, I did it! I did go exercise and I was able to do 15 min on the Elliptical machine WITHOUT PAIN! I'm so excited, I have always LOVED the Elliptical, I think it contributed a lot to my weightloss. However, since my knee surgery, I have not been able to do it for very long before the pain would shoot thru my knee and cause me to swell. Well, yesterday I gave it another shot and I even kicked it up some and it didn't hurt until the very end, and it was just a mild pain, I could handle it. I don't want to push it very much more, but I will continue doing it and hopefully each week I can continue to kick it up. I'm just so excited. I think my knee troubles are about to be the past! I just cannot wait until I can really kick my exercise up, like doing squats and lunges again! I love those and so do my ARSE. Well, not really but it does shrink that area. lol. Anyhow, doing the elliptical yesterday was my NSV. I took your advice Sula and made sure that I wore a sweat band as to not get the sweat in my eyes, it worked. I plan on doing the elliptical again today and my weights. Hope everyone else is doing okay. Pilates is fun and I have taken some classes, I can gell it really works my core. After I can conquer my elliptical, I might try and take a palates class at the gym.
  11. Congrats Veronica!! everyone is different. I keep have to reminding myself the band is only a tool- i have to do the work- meaning stick to the diet, and no grazing ( I'm a terrible grazer!) But have found other things to do instead of eat. (Housework only if I'm desperate!). The fills will increase as we lose weight , so am more concerned about amount of miles walked, protein, calories, NSVs, and the scale. BTW, am down 1# this week to 235. ( Any loss is a win!)

Horsegirl and otakham- I plauteued around 220 for almost two months so very frustrating, but it will pass. Hang in there! Nicki- Great job on 5.5 lbs! I hope it sticks I lost 3 more pounds this week for a total of 67lbs! I am finally more than half way to my goal of 130lb loss. I have lost 7lbs total in the last two weeks and am well on my way to 100lb loss my birthday in October I am just so happy that the extra exercise and being extra careful with my eating is paying off. It is so extemely pleasing to see the scale moving! I have had lots of great comments lately and that is also really nice. Also, my wedding rings flew off my hand yesterday, good NSV but also scary, I would hate to lose them. What have you all been doing or plan to do when your rings don't fit anymore? Erica

resptech2band- You might be waiting to long to eat. I sometimes get that weird growling of the lower part of my stomach, it I don't get my normal full feeling right away. shonda225- Your body probably went into shock from losing 18 pounds so quickly. And I agree, the time before the first fill is white knuckling it. Hopefully your next fill will help. You haven't failed, you are still on your journey. kymie9899- Great job on the early morning workout! Way to go! JustDoIt130-Two kiddos with lice, that sucks. Good luck, I hope you don't have to cut your little girls hair! ready for my journey- Size 18 falling off of you, that is great! Aren't NSVs great! As for me, Doctor appt went well. I had my second fill and I am healing well from the port flip surgery. Even better news is that I have offically lost 41 pounds. I am super excited to be to 40 pounds! I am looking forward to 50 pounds gone now! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am 2 pounds away from weighing less than my DH, I can't wait!

Hi all. Sorry I didn't post last Monday. I was at 174.5 which was the same as the previous Monday. I did we'll with Thanksgiving, we went to our friends' house. They sent home some leftovers but one meal of leftovers is certainly better than a houseful! Yesterday I was at 170.5 for a total loss of 81 pounds. I'd like to be at 85 by Christmas but I'm hesitant to make that a "goal". It seems like anytime I set a specific goal I end up sabotaging myself; but if I just plug along and see what happens my results are always better. I should probably reflect more on that! On the topic of alcohol, I'm still okay with wine (my poison of choice). I haven't tried any liquor drinks, but I have a feeling they would hit me a lot faster. I try to stay away from beer because of the carbonation. If I do have beer I usually go VERY slowly and end up giving half of it to my hubby. Two NSV's - bought a pair of size 12 (curvy fit) pants; now I just need to focus on my thunder thighs and bat wings! I also survived my first holiday open house. I did about one small round of grazing, didn't even fill up a small plate, and I was done (plus two glasses of wine - told you it was my fave!) Prior to the band I would have stood at the table without a plate and just gnoshed!

Chrissy, congrats on the NSV, and yes, going down a size is definitely an NSV. Don't beat yourself up over the scale not moving. There is no way any of us could lose that amount of weight, you being the most, and 2 days before my surgery, in such a short amount of time. { 6 mths this week for you & I} I think we're all doing great, learning to live with our new found friend, the lapband. We've all had ups & downs in our lives but as long as we're learning to control our {eating} emotions, it's a NSV all the way. I agree with Nicole, to change our goals to being more aware of our bad habits and turning them into positive ones. The scale will follow. Now, my goal today is to get my arse up in the gym. I bought Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown DVD to get me inspired. Haven't looked at it yet, but just looking at her picture of the cover of the DVD scares the hell out of me! LOL

Hi everyone! Meredith, glad to see you! LOL, my DH picked our couches as well, and is also the horder of the family- maybe they're related!! I'm just glad YOU and your family are safe, everything else can be replaced somehow. Dee, good to "see" you! Yep, I've been off the bandwagon for a couple months, and have regained some- but not nearly as much as I would have! On 1/1/13 I'll be back on- I'm actually pretty good at New Year's resolutions, and my YMCA is having a Zumba party that day, so a good kickstart, LOL. Chrissy- how are you doing? Let's start our exercise goals in January. I'm still hitting several days most weeks, but we'll start kicking butt and taking names in January. Well, here's a NSV for you! I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert on Wednesday night, our tickets were general admission floor- meaning standing room only. And I was able to stand and dance (well, as well as I could with the sticky floor from all the spilled drinks!!). My feet hurt, but not nearly as much as they would have 70+ lbs ago! And I was not the fattest there BY FAR! The only bummer is, I wish I had a seat to see how much better I fit into it! LOL. DH had to leave the floor and find a seat (and I had to promise no more standing room only tickets). But it was so much fun, it was my 5th time seeing them, it's such a good show and I"m a HUGE fan. NJ2NC, I'm sure your boss was there, right??? He'll tell you how awesome it was! Okay everyone, have a great day!! Nicki

Kath, it's not a small achievement at all. That's awesome. Congrats to you and all the "small" NSV's you {and we} get as they all amount to one big one in the end!!
  19. Now is a good time to measure all over body, record numbers, and have those available for NSV in future!

@@missjaded44 Your success is inspirational! You look damn good and still have curves! I'd like my body to look like yours for my NSV! [emoji12] Congrats - job well done!!
  21. Finally broke that darn 3 week stall And got a NSV: I'm in size 8 jeans and got in a size S dress!

    Feeling defeated

Try to focus on NSV (non scale victories). That helps me when I'm in a stall, or I'm not losing as much as I think I should be. So for example... with my first surgery (I had the sleeve in May 2022) I lost 30 pounds in 30 days. It was insane. Then I hit the mother of all stalls. Each time I hit one, I would gain 3-5 pounds and sit there for WEEKS. I would come on here nearly in tears. Then I learned to look for things other than the numbers on a scale. I saw that I was off some of my meds. My clothes were starting to get a little looser. I dropped a ring size pretty quick. I was able to walk around more with less stops. As time went on and I was further out from my surgery, the weight loss slowed a lot. I was still losing, but at a much slower rate. But I paid attention to the NSVs and I was thrilled. I was able to work out longer, do more intense workouts, dropped another 2 sizes in clothes, ring and necklace sizes went way down, I could go up and down stairs, I was off all blood pressure, anti-inflammatory, and diabetes meds, I could sit in normal chairs with arms on them COMFORTABLY, I could cross my legs..... So many things to look at when the scale is being stubborn. I ended up having several complications from the sleeve around month 8 or so post op, and had to have a revision to bypass in June of this year. Right from the jump, the weight loss has been soooo slooooow. But my bmi and weight were a LOT lower than when I had my initial surgery (when I had the sleeve, I was 388 pounds, 5'6", bmi 63). When I had the revision, I was 275 with a bmi of 43). Also, weight loss is lower and slower with revisions. But I mostly wanted my life back because I couldn't do ANYTHING with the complications (I had 6 surgeries in 6 months). Now I'm back to working out BEAST MODE, I can live my life, properly stick to my diet, and watch my NSVs (the scale creeps along at a snail's pace, but I'm still seeing NSVs so I'm happy). Things will happen for you in the time, and in the way, they are supposed to. Just know that even when the scale isn't cooperating, other things in your body are. Just look for those, keep doing what you're doing, and you'll get there in the end.

Lisa: You might have gotten bruised from the fill. I would give yourself a little TLC. Platueas suck! I didn't lose any weight for 3 weeks and was getting very discouraged. Hang in there. It will come off! I guess the exercise and protien will speed things along. Notice any NSV's? You're probably getting smaller, ie. in inches. Good luck!

No apology necessary! NSV = non-scale victory, meaning anything positive that comes from being banded *other* than losing weight (like improved flexibility, going off meds, getting winked at by the cute bag boy....) Tami

Hello all, I have been absent for a few days as I have been sick! Still am...have the crud! I just wanted to say hello to everybody. I am too busy here at work to read back and see who all has been posting but, I am just glad you all are here. I hope this blog goes on forever. I always worry that people will drop out and once we all loose our wght..that we won't need each other anymore. I know I will. NSV!!!! I had to go to Target yesterday to buy a presant for my daughter and I passed these cute Trouser Jeans on the rack in the junior dept. Well, I have been wanting a pair because they are the nice dark ones that look like slack that you can wear on Casual Fridays at some work places. Well, I really didn't have the xtra money at this time but I wanted to try them on anyway to see how they looked. I grabbed the 14's and went in and tryed them on. Too big! I had the sales lady go get me the next lowest size...a 12! They fit perfect! Let me tell you, it took all of my will power not to buy them just because they had a 12 tag in them. I figured that I could buy them after Christmas if they are still there. I am on cloud nine...a size 12! I am sure it was just the brand but...a size 12! Happy Happy Joy Joy.. Doin the happy dance Weazer Merry Christmas and Blessings to you all and your families! Weazer
