After a 7 month hiatus and recomital to my band lifestyle, I'm now seeing results again. It's been exactly one week since I had a fill and I'm down 2 lbs. Whoot Whoot! On another note, I had a NSV as well. While taking a shower this morning, I noticed that I had a bicep. I'm excited to see results from my bootcamp class. Never in a million years would I have thought there would be muscle underneath ALL this FAT! I was in such amazement. Cant wait for the new session to start again next week.

Thank you all for you suggestions.. I'm in St. Louis for a week visiting the future in laws... but when I get back to Delaware I'll try the different shakes. I too have strayed away from the shakes since being able to have solids. I usually get my protein from chicken breast, yogurt, egg beaters, cottage cheese, beans... I def. believe that the last fill worked.. I have some restriction.. but I'm thinking that I'll keep my appointment on the 1st to add a little more to it... yesterday I was able to eat one about 1/2 of a lean cuisine panini sandwich (left about a slice of bread) and I also ate about 1/4 of a philly pretzel while waiting at the airport... in my eyes ... not sure if I'm thinking on the right path or not.. but, I shouldnt be able to get down things like doughy bread so easily.. ... on another note.. a HUGE NSV for me yesterday... got on the plane (first time flying in a year) and the seat belt fit fine... as a matter of fact.. I had to pull it tighter... about 5 inches or so of extra belt!! Made me smile...seeing how a year ago I was pulling and stretching and sucking in so I could get it buckled!!

Have you gotten rid of the winter season clothes ?
jane13 replied to kat27641's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
oh heck ya! I live in the Sunshine state and its been in the 90s in the afternoons. It has dipped into the 50s-60s and I don't like to be cold so I kept a couple of hoodies. I also found a Danskin zip-up lightweight jacket that was on the clearance racket about two months ago. I thought it wouldn't fit size (12-14) had a big NSV when it not only fit, but ZIPPED over the girls with plenty of room! I strut around in it like its a PINK LADIES jacket from Grease! -
Kristen, OMG I'm dreading halloween candy in the house! Right now we have a pumpkin pie from costco in the house and i'm not a huge fan of pumpkin, but I still can't stay out of the damn thing. Shouldn't have bought it. That's what happens when you take the husband to costco. Been eating regular foods tonight and although I did have to slow down because I could feel it going through the band, I didn't feel any more restriction really. Ugh. I must have a teeny tiny esophagus cause i'm up to freaking 10ccs in the 14cc band. I know I need to give it some time though. I didn't feel much restriction after the first few days after number 2 either and then ultimately I DID by the time the next fill came around, so I dunno, just gotta see what happens. I was up 3lbs this morning but I know i'm just bloated because I haven't really been bad or anything, and then I started my period today so i'm chalking it up to that and won't weigh myself for a few days. GG, yay for the nsv's! Catherine, why would the doc be "not happy with that"? My docs haven't said a damn word to me about how much, or little, i've lost. They are just like, ok more fluid in the band, since i'm obviously not there yet! Rebecca, my girlfriends are going to be the death of me. At least a lot of the sweets we eat are bread-y and eventually I won't be able to tolerate that at all.

It's great to see others feeling the same way, definitly doesn't make me feel like im nuts! lol It is funny because all I talk about is the surgery, the message boards and NSVs .. I think my boyfriend starts tunning me out after a while though because I must sound like a broken record to him ha ha -
Well I had my first PB today. We are in the mountains of NC for 4 days and had an appointment and we were late getting back to the condo for lunch. We were and only had 15 minutes to eat lunch. I ate some leftover chicken breast and a small bit of rice and some cooked carrots. Chicken has been hard sometimes so I chewed and chewed and chewed. It just would not go down! I've been a little uncomfortable a few times before but nothing like this. So, we had to leave for our appointment and ended up stopped on the side of the road and up it all came. I was better right away but I really don't want to do that again. I wil not ever rush eating for anything ever again. It was a little scary. The moral of my story is slow down when you eat! On a lighter note I had a NSV, (non scale victory) yesterday. My friend and I stopped at the Tanger Outlet on the way up the mountain. We went into Chico's. I had been in there before and could not wear anything they had. They have 3 sizes. 1,2,&3. I pulled out some 3's and they actually fit. I evidently had a tendency to buy loose clothing so my friend made me try them on for her. She pointed out they were too large, so I got 2's! I think I will go back there when they are having another sale and get all my clothes there just to see a size 2 anything in my closet. It was great. Thanks for your kind words healthywoman & ms.lady about my posts. Got me a little teary to think I might be helping any of you. I talk about the forum all the time and my hubby knows about all of you. Welcome back Jess & budapatti. I wondered about Caryn too. Maybe she will come back. It's so good to have some new voices out there. We need to support each other. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Stay on program and it will pay off. Go for a walk and drink your Water. ( I sound like a Mother don't I) We can so this! Blessings, GG

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible stall. But I congratulate you on your positive outlook. It is so true that if weight loss is this hard WITH the sleeve I can't imagine what it would be like without it! No wonder I was never successful before. I can't imagine what you're going through. I was about to pull my hair out after a 3 week stall. They are so frustrating. To break mine I changed up what I was doing. I stuck to my Proteins and Water and changed the type of exercise I was doing. The weekend before my stall broke (I weigh in on mondays) I visited some friends and I had a "carb" day... meaning that I focused on proteins but I didn't worry about the ice cream scoop I had or the cookie I had. I needed the break mentally. My sleeve let me be normal without worrying about going crazy. The next day I was down 4. I definitely don't go carb crazy to lose the weight, it normally wouldn't work. It could've just been the mental sigh of relief over the weekend that caused it, I really don't know. No matter what, stalls are tough. Focus on all of those wonderful NSV's and your muscle tone and your body and relax knowing that your sleeve will take care of you. Also, your scale stinks lol! Leave it alone for awhile. ((hugs)) good luck!

NSV!!! Jogged 2 miles straight on the treadmill tonight! It felt wonderful, 6 weeks out 30 lbs lighter:) what a great feeling. -
Great NSVs! On Friday I was walking through a large, busy corridor at work and I heard two people behind me talking. The first one said, "That's Nancy M." The other one said, "That's Nancy M?!" Then they both stopped me to tell me how good I look." I just shopped in my first regular store! OK, I got an XL and a 1X, but it was a store where skinny people shop, too! There are more, but that's enough! Nancy

NSV=non scale victory, I know because someone else told me just this morning! We've got some great cheer leaders on this board! (dancing banannas)

Another day, another NSV. Today, not only am I wearing for the first time, a shirt I got for Christmas, but I RAN FOR THE BUS. Yes, you read that correctly, I RAN for the bus. It's not like there wasn't another bus in 5 minutes... but I RAN. Me! and I wasn't winded either! Heh, sure, I'm happy with all my NSVs but a part of me is wondering when I'm going to start having some weight loss!

Very nice Stef!! Looks like alot of fun at both. As for me, last night was upper body. Let me just say, I've always lifted, but I honestly feel as if I am getting to be stronger than ever before and working harder than ever before. The weights I'm throwing around, while nowhere near what a true powerlifter does, is so much more compared to my current weight than ever in the past. Ok, done tooting my own horn. This morning was 60 minutes on the elliptical. Have to work this weekend, so cardio will be trimmed down. Might be able to get out on the bike this weekend after work, but not holding my breath.:frown: Back to tooting my own horn, couple of nsv's to share. Tried on my shorts from last summer that were getting a little tight. Waaaay to baggie now. If I put a belt on, the shorts bunch up on the side and look awful. No way I can wear them again. 2nd one, the other day at home while changing, I noticed I have oblique muscles now. Where did those come from? Still got the love handles, but much smaller and the muscle is starting to show through.:w00t: I'll never have a 6 pack, but I'll take what I can get. Last one, yesterday I was walking through our dept when our training Lt that had been away at an FBI class for close to 3 mos mentioned I had lost enough weight to finally need new uni's. I looked him in the eye and said,"Yeah, again". I got new uni's at the end of last year around late Dec. Now, those are getting baggy. Been a great week for the esteem.

Congrats on your NSV!!!!!!!!!!!! I know how you feel. I found an old XL size T-Shirt in my closet and put it on just for fun AND IT FIT!!!!!!!! Here I was thinking I was still a 2XL kinda guy. Now I have to rethink my whole wardrobe. -
PJTP...Hi Everyone! *waving cheerfully* Having a terrific day! Went out with DH last night to a neighborhood bar / watering hole. Last time we went, there was a great DJ - lots of dancing and fun. This time, there was a local band - a little too "headbanger" for me, but okay...not much "dancing" music. ****** NSV Alert ****** Best part? Wore a purple knit mini-dress that I bought weeks ago at a size LARGE and had never worn. I've lost enough and reshaped my body enough that with the right shaper (I have a tummy fold with the loss of volume LOL) it looked really cute. Pair that with a pair of high heels (which I love) and I was ready to go! Funny enough, I was one of the few women in a dress! Everyone else had on jeans and nice tops...oh well - DH appreciated the dress VERY much...made for a nice night. Got in at 1 am, so no run this morning, but I did take DDog for an early walk, did some errands, and took him for another long walk just now with DD. My DD is in the preliminary process of getting a band - she's now on LBT as arianad09 - Y'all be nice to her! :tt1: She's already posting in the Teen forum, and has made some online buddies. We're going to an info session this upcoming week, and I'll be trying to get her in to see my doctor as soon as it can be arranged. We're trying to work around her school schedule, and getting TO the appointments is a hassle because of the distance from my home to my doc's office, but we'll make it work. I think she's ready to do this...and even if she's not, I'll be there to help her with information-gathering, etc and with making the right decision. Of course, it's not entirely up to me, and I know it's not, but I can help her whereever possible. Hope everyone is having a great weekend - no news yet on the job front, but I'm hopeful that I'll hear something next week. My DH told me that another employee's son has applied for the lower-level position, so there are two of us with the "inside track" looking for the jobs. There are two openings - a higher-level one, which I think I'm more qualified for, and a lower-level one, which I would certainly take if asked, but might be better suited for the young man mentioned earlier. Keep praying / wishing / sending good thoughts my way - I can use all the positive help I can get! :tt2:

PJTP...again! Having a weird couple of days...was home with a general "sick" feeling yesterday. Lightheaded, body aches, no fever, but everything else felt like the flu... Today, a little more energy, but started the day with almost NO voice - it's so funny when I, the motormouth, cannot talk. My DH and DD make gentle fun of me and then tell me to Shhh when I try to talk! ***Major NSV Alert*** Just came in from jean-shopping. I am "growing" into my true figure I think...pretty straight up and down, not a big difference between waist and hip, so traditional women's jeans are baggy in the butt area - just where I don't need them to be (at least until I do a few thousand more squats!). Ended up buying two pair of "slim fit" (boy that was fun to type) "Cowboy Cut" Wranglers - men's jeans - iin a size 36 x 34 and a 36 x 36 (need the length 'cause I'm tall). My DH kept encouraging me to go smaller...:w00t: I tried on several pairs of women's jeans, and the best fit was a size - are you ready for it - 12!:w00t::w00t::w00t: I think it's because they have some stretch in them, and they were a 'relaxed fit' which meant there was more room in the seat and thighs. I was actually pretty happy with the size 14's (considering I just started wearing 16's a short time ago) but the dedication to my workouts is definately paying off. The pounds aren't moving as fast as I'd like, but the inches are leaving, so that's cool too. I didn't get the size 12's because they were too short - just not enough length in the legs, even in a "long" inseam model...I'm just tickled to wear a smaller size...:seeya: Going to go put them on and try them over my cowboy boots - gotta make sure they fit over the boots, ya know! Next time my DH wants to go line dancing, I've got the perfect pair of jeans to wear! :scared2:

PJTP...Good morning PJTP'ers! :sneaky: Tap - take good care of yourself. Maybe a day off is in order...I had a brief bout with a flu-like illness a couple of weeks ago. Stayed home one day, took my meds, and have been fine since. Watched 60 Minutes last night with DH and got such a scare - they talked about the H1N1 virus and how tough it can be on some people. They profiled a young man - high school athlete, in great shape, who came down with it and had to be put on a respirator at one point. Don't let your resistance and your strength get too low, Taps - take a day now and regain your strength! Heartfire - that goes for you too! Maybe its just a temporary case of the 'blues' but in any case, pamper yourself a bit and I hope you feel better very soon! Bristlecone - Hi! I love your dog's name (Truffles) and a hike in the mountains sounds beautiful this time of year. Welcome to PJTP - come back often! NSV - currently wearing a size 14W dress I bought from Spiegel - it's part of their "Shape FX" line and helps smooth me out...it's the smallest size I've worn in quite a while. :scared2: A friend referred to me as "melting" - funny visual for me, but partially the truth! I am enjoying getting smaller - and even dealing with the different 'figure problems' is not so bad. Me and spanx are getting to be good friends... I had thought this year would be the time for me to look into plastic surgery, but the money just isn't there...especially with DD going out-of-state to school next fall, I've got to save everything I can. I'm going to keep up my workouts, eat right, take my vitamins and see what happens. My DH was a little worried about me - thinking that having the surgery so soon after my weight loss might have proven to be too much for me. I'm not so sure - I guess I'm feeling like I want it all NOW, but waiting is what I have to do, so I'm going to do it with a smile! :w00t: Everyone have a wonderful day - it's chilly here, but the sun is shining brightly and I feel great!

Whoo- hoo - Im not alone in the PJTP world! It is getting slower and slower in here...we need a jump start. Where is everyone? heartfire? Kat? Plain? Sick? Slim? Bristle? KC? Pool? CC? and so on and so on...................come on, guys. Are you saying (thorugh your silence) that you don't enjoy our witty repartee? Don't want to know the lives and loves of your fellow bandsters? TALK TO ME!!! Love the NSV!!

I thought he looked too lean and tall to be a purebred. Are the 'seers really that different body-type wise? I haven't seen too many pics of them but they always "looked" like a regular newf, just different colors. Have you been able to get Tug asleep long enough to measure him? Maybe YOU have the biggest doggie!!! Post pics of him, 'kay. Please!!!!! Compromise and communication are biggies in our house too. I just offer ALL of my best wishes to you in this. Still nothing? Dang! I was hoping you'd have good news by now! I'll keep praying for you and that new job! Hi!!! Glad you're having a good weekend. Congrats on the NSV!!! I can tell you are having SO much fun with all the clothes!!! Best wishes to your DD in whatever she decides. I know that you'll do all you can to help her and guide her. Still praying re: the job! Kat, hope you had a great weekend with the kiddos!!! ~~~~~ Okay, so was posting on another thread tonight when I heard a huge bang outside. The dog is throwing a bloody fit and heading to the kitchen side of the house. I turn on the front porch light and head for the kitchen door. It's got a window in it. This is important here. There is an outside light at that door that's on a sensor. Well, it's not on but the dog, who HATES going in the kitchen, is practically at the door! So I'm standing there, open up the shade and am flipping the damn light switch off and on to get the dumb thing to come ON!!! It finally does and Oh CRAP!!!! BEAR!!!!! Not FOUR FEET AWAY!!!!! It looks at me and dummy me is clapping my hands and telling it to go away. Ummm, yea, like it's going to LISTEN to me!!! So I turn to go get the camera b/c it's flippin' RIGHT THERE!!! And when I get back, it's gone. I am thanking GOD that I didn't do what I normally do and throw the door open to go see what was up. The light never came on b/c he came in on all fours so was too "short" to trip the light on. What I normally do is throw open the door and walk out to the garbage can (that sits right by the door) waving my hand up in the air to trip the sensor. I would have WALKED RIGHT IN TO HIM had I done that tonight!!!! GOD stopped me from opening that door. Since the light didn't come on, I would have no reason the think something was RIGHT THERE!!!! He'd knocked the can over and managed to get the lid off. I know better. I cleaned out the fridge today and locked the lid on it to keep the raccoons out but should have put it in the shed. Just didn't think about the bears. And the campgrounds are closed for the season so they're moving in to the neighborhoods to go after the garbage cans. So I know better. Lived here for 30 years! I should!!! Anyway, it stuck around for awhile, probably eating whatever it took out of the can b/c the dog was still freaking out for awhile. She's calmed down right now so he's probably moved on for tonight. He didn't make a huge mess but it'll be huge by morning. The 'coons will get in to it next and spread it all over kingdom-come!! But I'm not going out there TONIGHT to clean it up. It can frickin' stay there for now!!! On another note, I'm still sick. I hate being sick!!!! Oh man! It's 12:30, I'm going to bed! 'Night!!

Boy do I get this NSV. To not have to worry about fitting into the gowns, or a robe at the spa... I was always so mortified to be reminded of just how fat I was...
-
Good Morning, Green Violets... Personally for me, to be able to get in the tub and relax will be a NSV!! Having no shower is not a problem for me. I love the looks of the place and would hate to have Terry try and figure out another hotel. But I'l go with the flow!

Hi Anne, You have done so many good things for yourself and are losing more than enough weight. Give yourself a break. You're doing great! As for your clueless friend... You teach people how to treat you. Teach her you won't allow people to speak to you that way. I have had this same issue with my mother. She thinks negative comments will motivate me. Now every time she says something stupid I call her on it. She doesn't even realize she's doing it half the time. Ugh! Brag about your victories. You have a lot to be proud of! In public is the worst. I was out to luch with the family once and spent half the time spitting my drool and slime into a toilet  To some degree, though not as bad as you mention, it should take a while for things like tuna or well chewed chicken to go down. The guide my Dr told me is take small bites, chew really well, eat about 1 cup of food, don't eat for longer that 20 min. and it should take about 3 hours until you are hungry again. With more solid foods I take a few bites and then have to wait for a small burp before I can eat more. I can tell I'm full when I start to get discomfort and often I will hickup or my nose runs. Weird, huh? My NSV: I made it to water aerobics this morning! This is a big personal victory and I'm proud of myself.
-
Oh, that's too bad you are both having abdominal tenderness. I have no issues there since 2 weeks out. So I'm doing fantastic. My weight loss is a little slower than I'd like, but I'm sure most people feel this way. But I feel really good. I had a period of low energy and weakness, but I believe B12 shots have taken care of that. My stomach is great, able to tolerate everything I throw at it. I'm loving having such a small stomach capacity. It keeps me from self sabotaging too much even when I give into cravings. I'm also loving that having no physical hunger, only head hunger makes those cravings easier to control. NSV - I finally figured out protein shakes and vitamins/mineral that are working for me. I became intolerant of whey protein about a month ago. That eliminated most shakes, powders & bars. I'd also not taken my multivitamins & calcium regularly because they cause extreme nausea. Now I've found premade protein shakes that agrees with me, and tastes decent. I've found multivitamins and calcium supplements that don't upset my stomach. I'm now able to get in all my required vitamins and minerals, plus the additional pills like my ppi, stool softener and probiotic & meet or at least get close to my protein requirements!

lylabelle replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy cow jenlyn you have lost almost 30 pounds in a about a week?!? I didn't think that was even possible! Wow I'm def a slow loser then, I'm down 8 as of today from surgery weight. Jenlyn I'll add you to the group. Your surgery was the same day as mine. 27lbs already!!? Man I wish NSV - Slipped a shirt on I wouldn't wear a few weeks ago because it was tight. Fits lovely now :)
