  1. I was shopping at Target this weekend. My wife suggested we browse the men's clothing section. I caught a glance of myself in a mirror and my 40in waist pants looked baggy in the seat. I mentioned this to my wife and she said "I know. That's why we are here". I bought a few pairs of 38in pants. I started my weight loss in tight 46in pants.

    PDG Movie Review and NSV

My wife and I decided to take advantage of a child-free weekend and go see the Hangover 2 at our local movie theater. I bought our tickets and we made our way into the theater. We selected our seats, right near the top as close to the center as we could and we sat down. It was then that I noticed something unusual. Something did not quite feel normal. Oh I know what it is, we did not have our hands full of snacks, popcorn, candy, pretzels, and soda. Hmmm, while that was true it was not the certain feeling I was trying to place my finger on. Then it hit me. I was sitting in the seat with the center arm rest down and my arms actually on the rest! What a different feel from the rolls of my belly being pressed against and flowing over top of the arm rests. That was worth the price of admission. Now as for the movie, if you've seen the first one, don't bother. It's the exact same movie.

Hi there, I am scheduled for my surgery on July 1st (revision from lapband to plication) so I can answer alot of your questions. Two questions: 1) What is NSV? no scale victory - 2) Does anyone have extremely serious regrets for having the surgery? well even with having to have a revision on my band - I don't regret it - lost 170 lbs - gained back 50lbs due to an enlarged pouch - but will have the plication and get back to my lowest weight in no time. Hope this was helpful. Donna in Seattle surgery lap band 3/2003 - scheduled for plication on July 1st with OCC TJ 310/145/200 and counting down again!
  4. I am scheduled for my sleeve on July 5th. I have been reading for hours on this forum and it is encouraging. Two questions: 1) What is NSV? 2) Does anyone have extremely serious regrets for having the surgery? I have seen few if any negatives in these conversations. Thank you,

  7. Congrats to you! What a great NSV even before surgery! I love getting rid of old, big clothes- it feels so rewarding. Although sometimes I have a hard time with some of my favorites and I just have to think of all the new favorites that I will be able to buy- and how much cuter they will be! Good luck to you as you continue on with this journey!
  8. So I stuck with m y routine today and did 30 on my elliptical. I really kicked butt and when I was done I was so out of breath I had to lean against my wall. Total NSV: I could feel my hip bones and ribcage against the wall and my waist did not touch!!!

    WELCOME Gym Rats!!!

Heehee thanks! And to think, I have 2 bum knees. I never thought in a million years I'd be able to do what I do. I've always dreamed of being able to become a runner and every day that becomes more a reality. I think it's definitely one of the BEST NSV's I've had since having my surgery!! You are doing really great pre-op! Do you have a pre-op diet your surgeon recommends? Lots do, I did. Mine was pretty much all low carbs - no liquid stuff... TG!! It was very tolerable. I even lost 9 Lbs, which was excellent! That's 9 Lbs less to goal post-op *YEAH!!!* Take care, and try not to get too nervous, your big day is right around the corner.
  11. So...is this an NSV? I'm not really sure....so I'm going to put it here anyways. I'm down about 60 pounds from pre-op and feeling great, which in an of itself is an awesome accomplishment. I've noticed though that I'm getting a certain amount of attention from our male patrons at work and I'm not really sure I know what to do with it. Yesterday I was handling billing questions from a guest, when he asked me if he could take me out to famous dave's for lunch. I thanked him for his generosity, and told him that I already eaten. He then looked at me and said "Well I could pick you something up and keep it in my room....you could always come up for dinner later.." and then winked at me! Ummm....okay. I have another male guest who came into the office yesterday afternoon asking for change. I went in back to the safe to get it out, and he proceeded to tell my GM of all people how "I'd like to take that little girl home to momma." He spent the rest of the afternoon walking past my office and staring....he even ran into a door frame he was so busy looking! Not to mention this guy was old enough that he should be hitting on my mother...not me. WTH?!? I'm nowhere near goal yet, and I don't see much of a difference in the way that I look, and while it's nice to know that people think I'm looking better I really don't know if I'd consider this an NSV because the way that these men are looking at me makes me feel like crap. I'm so much more than the way that I look, and all the attention makes me really uncomfortable. That and how anybody could find my work attire sexy is beyond me. I'm still wearing slacks that are WAY too big (I'm a poor college student and am putting off buying a new pair as I'm dangerously close to the next size down from what I am now, and don't want to buy something that'll only fit for a short amount of time), a hideous button down shirt with the company logo, and a black sweater that really doesn't have a shape. All in all, I refer to my work attire as hobo chic (that whole, I don't really care, but I'm not so unsightly it's unprofessional thing...it's a balance, whatever). Alas, I am choosing to pay attention only to the bright side of this situation, and view this as me gaining my old confidence back, and getting my mojo going again! I'm hoping that it's the old addage "When you feel good you look good." Is that how it goes? Whatever. Has anyone else experienced an increase in unwanted attention at work? Best way to go about addressing it without coming off as a snob?

How is Everybody Doing? What's New?

Had an AWESOME NSV last night. I had ordered myself 2 pairs of my favorite jeans. I've been wearing a 22, so I ordered one pair size 22 and one pair of size 20. Well, it looks like the 22's will be returned because the 20's FIT! YAY! I've gone from pants size 24 sometimes 26 down to a 20!!! So excited about it! I'm also down to a 1x top - I used to wear a 3x top! I just had to share!

70 pounds already!? WOW! Sweet! Congratulations on the great job you're doing! I love your NSVs!
  16. So my schedule between work and the pt (due to car accident) has been super busy. It's a little less than 4 months but I've hit my 70 pound loss already. I started at 330 pounds so I still have a long way to go but it feels so wonderful to be normal. Im sorry to say I don't count calories and I pretty much eat whatever I want but since I eat so little i make much better choices. I've started to play tennis with my husband and even purchases a used elliptical that I love. I'm only 2 pounds over my husband and can't wait till I weigh less than him. I started with a size 26/28 and to my amazement I acidently put the wrong size uniform in my bag to change after pt and I fit into an 18 petite. I could not believe it. I ordered that size for the future after my seemstress said she could no longer take in any of my other uniform pants since they would lose the pockets. Ive also found 2 boxes of clothes from when I was smaller so I haven't had to do any major shopping. Another NSV is that I can know wear all my beautiful heals and sandals since my foot has gotten smaller. Everyone at work knows I've had the surgery but they are all so supportive of me and tell me what a great job I'm doing and they even say they're jealous of me. Haha. They've nicked named me skinny which is funny cause I'm still a pretty big girl at 260 but ive lost by double chin and no longer run out of breath just walking around my job. This surgery has to have been the best investment I've ever done for myself and i love reading all the other success stories. So to all the sleeve sisters and brothers out there WE ROCK!

    My first NSV

I had my first real NSV (Non Scale Victory) yesterday. I checked my blood sugar yesterday afternoon and I was at 91! I don't think I have ever been below 100 since I was diagnosed over 5 years ago. That felt really nice. My blood sugars have never been better and I hope to start weening myself off some of the diabetes meds soon. Cannot wait!!

Thats a BIG NSV in my book!
  19. I got stuck the other day! I hadn't had that happen before.. wasn't too bad, but I was eating a sandwich too quickly and I had eaten too much, and I think I swallowed a chunk of bread and it felt so weird and painful. After a couple minutes it passed though. I didn't throw it up or anything. (thankfully!) what a terrible feeling though bleh! Also an NSV, saw a lot of friends I hadn't seen in a while this week at the American Idol finale, and even one of my favorite Idols (that I've met a million times) noticed I lost weight! crazy! Even though I didn't meet my finale goal, still felt good

How is Everybody Doing? What's New?

Korilynn, CONGRATULATIONS on your 40 lb loss! I am very happy for you!! I did the closet purge recently, too. At the same time I replaced all of my hangers with those velvet/thin ones. They are not expensive (I got mine at TJ maxx and also walmart has them) and they make such a difference in my closet! The amt of space it frees up is amazing! Also, nothing falls off the hangers anymore! Yeah! I wish I knew what ccs were in my band. They don't tell me this. I hate when they dig around looking for the port. It was like that the first time I got it done. Now I can even feel my port so they find it easier. I still think the sensation is kinda creepy! lol You should be wayyy proud! WTG on your NSV, too!!! jpt

    NSV for me

I was banded about 6 weeks ago. Since then I've lost 24 pounds (35 total), gone back to the gym, and totally changed my diet. My husband and I are leaving on a week long cruise this Friday and I had NO summer clothes to wear that didn't look like stuff I'd owned for 10 years (because well... most of my stuff... it's old!) so I went shopping yesterday. My pant size has been pretty much the same forever because even if my hips are smaller, my thighs are still huge. Anyway. I usually buy 24s for pants, but yesterday I comfortably fit into 20s! That's almost an 18, and NORMAL stores carry 18s! My shirt size went down too, from a 22-24 to an 18-20 and I even got one 14-16 that looked cute on me. WOO HOO!
