    Clothing Rollercoaster

This. I found a couple of really nice consignment stores within a few miles of home. It has been such a saver on the pocketbook, plus it allows me to pick up some nice stuff to reward myself as I cycle down. For example, I found a very nice Polka Dot Lauren dress to wear to a wedding this summer for $12/ then returned it for resale the next week and they gave me back $4 store credit on it. I’ve now gone down enough sizes (size 22 on surgery day to a size 12 today) that I’ve actually sold back a few of the pieces I got in early summer. It’s nice because I’ve got almost $100 store credit and will be looking to get some fall clothes once I’ve lost another 7-10 pounds and have moved into size 10s
  14. Hi all... RnY bypass on 8/26/19. Would love to hear all the tricks on making sure to get all the water and the protein drinks in and still adhere to the waiting 30 mins between eating and drinking. I struggled today and would love to know how everyone does it. Thank you!!
  15. Hello! My name is Grant. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 11/13/2017. At that time, I weighed about 450 pounds. Since my surgery, I've mostly followed the program, changed my lifestyle and worked out. I've met with my personal trainer at least twice a week since 01/2018 and made it a point to go to the gym at least 3 times a week separate from that. About 6 months after my surgery, I switched to an insurance my surgeon didn't accept. So I haven't seen him since then. As of today, I weight 217 pounds, meaning i've lost somewhere around 233 pounds. It's absolutely changed my life and I am a totally different person now. But i'm concerned because...well...I'm still throwing up...like a lot. At least 5 times a week, sometimes without even eating. I can't keep like most meals down. I've gone from having my first ever cavity 18 months ago to having 16 + cavities. It's gotten to the point that I don't even attempt to swallow most foods when i'm hungry or trying to eat, i Just spit them up once I get a taste. I'm honestly not trying to do like a humble brag...I'm honestly concerned. I don't know why I'm still vomiting and gagging and such this far after my surgery.

    No restriction?

AnnieD, this is my meal plan as well, EXACTLY that!! I do get full very quickly with dense proteins like chicken and fish and have to finish my meals hours later. That plan has no snacks before or after. I only do protein shakes for breakfast when I am on the go to work and it takes me the entire drive to work. Lunch and dinner is either plant proteins such as lentils or refried beans or fish or chicken. I get roughly 400 to 500 calories a day. No grazing, no snacks. Break down of macros is typically 70g to 80 grams Protein Net carbs about 10, Fat 15 to 20, Sugar typically less than 10. I definitely feel the restriction. Cholesterol

10 months out. My total cholesterol and LDL are both up. But that's likely because I've been having a lot of problems with my stomach, so the only things I can reliably eat without pain are soft foods like yogurt/milk/cheese. So I eat a lot of that, which is likely killing my cholesterol .

    SEPTEMBER 2019 CHALLENGE?

Any interest in joining a self guided group challenge to stay on track and increase exercise?
  19. So I am 10 weeks post vsg and have had a massive headache for the last two days. Any suggestions on something that is safe to take to help? I have tried multiple essential oils but it’s not helping. Thanks in advance!!
  20. I had my gastric sleeve 08/21/19. I went to my first post-op yesterday. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I have had the surgery. Yesterday at my post-op, I had the lowest blood pressure reading I have ever had in my life! I was able to meet up with the young woman who was in the bed next to me in the pre-op area of the hospital. She seemed to be doing just as well as I was feeling. I start on solid food next Tuesday. I have been losing weight so quickly on the liquid diet which has been quite thrilling. I am feeling a little nervous about starting on solid food again but know it is just the next step forward on this adventure.
  21. I had my sleeve 9/9/2019, so I'm about 3 weeks out. I've been a regular weight lifter for years and I'm just itching to go back to the gym. Physically I feel great, but my surgical team has me on the lift less than 15lbs for 6 weeks plan, so 3+ more weeks if I follow their guidelines. I'm a health statistician, so I know those guidelines have an ultra safe margin built into them to account for every type of person. I'm thinking of doing some light weights (heavier than 15lbs) after week 4 using machines and such to try an isolate away from my core as much as possible. So, long story short, did anyone cheat? If, so did anything bad happen?

    MEN 300-350 LBS WEIGHT LOSS

I am scheduled for RNY surgery on 10/28/19. Currently 400 pounds but I have gained/lost the same 50 pounds for about a decade and 400 is usually my top. I've been overweight since I was young (8-9 years old), was able to lose weight and feel good during a stint in the Army. After I was discharged in 1995 I was 225 and build like an athlete (I am 6'4). However, I put on about 20 pounds a year, maxing out at around 425-450 (I assume, because I didn't have a scale that went that high) in 2005. My surgeon set a "goal" for me of 240 because I am pretty big boned, but like others have mentioned, 225 in 1995 is not the same 225 today so I am keeping my lower range open. We'll see how I feel as I lose.
  23. I had my surgery August 9th. Recovery is going well, I was up and walking 2 days after surgery. The worst part was the 1st 24 hours, I had terrible nausea for the 1st 12 hours and a lot of pain for the 1st 36 hours. However, the pain faded pretty quickly and I was off the oxy by Tuesday the 13th. I'm down 26 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. I've been going to the gym daily and putting in 45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical for the last 10 days and that has really kick started my weightloss. I've been losing about a 1lb a day since I started cardio. I started soft foods this week and that has gone pretty well. Eggs and cheese (Yeah cheese omlets) go down flawlessly as well as soft pasta, steamed fish, yogurt and fruit smoothies (Shout out to my Vitamix). I made the mistake of having a little crab meat, that was the only thing I ate this week that made me super nauseous. I'm going to have to wait a few more weeks before trying crab again. I also had a tiny little bite of my wifes steak and that actually went down fine. The biggest change I've noticed is my sweet tooth has been greatly reduced, I had a few bites of ice cream and it tasted overwhelmingly sweet. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the surgery.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay. Saw my surgeon a couple of hours ago. I’ve officially lost 78 pounds since surgery day and he laughed when I was bummed that it wasn’t an even 80. According to him, I’ve lost right at around 80% of my excess fat, which qualifies as “success” in his book. When I discussed that while I was very grateful for the 80 pounds, my ultimate goal was another 23-25 more. He nodded and agreed that it was a totally reasonable goal, but to allow that it might take another 6 months for that to happen and to not be alarmed if immediately after that I find 5-10 pounds of “bounce”. He says that if I keep on running my program the way I have been, I should be able to get there. And in case I do not get there, then it’s my body telling me I’m not meant to be there. When I asked him what someone with my BMI and progress should expect on a monthly basis, he said 4-5 pounds max is what I could expect. That number somewhat bums me out (I was hoping he’d say 7-8) but his numbers make more sense within another 5-6 month time window vs my goal So I’ve got some labs ordered that I’ll do sometime next week and I won’t know results of those til about this time next month. I’ve got a FU with my NUT in 3 months, but my surgeon says he doesn’t need to see me til I’m 12 months P.O. He also told me he’s taking me off of the ursodiol (he jokingly said that I’ll never again lose 78 pounds in 6 months so there’s no need) and wants me off of my pantoprazole. One big reason is that med leaches calcium from your bones and that coupled with my VGS and carrying around less body weight, and being post-menopausal can lead to bone density issues later. He said to keep up with Pilates and my walk/run/incline training on the treadmill and I should be fine.

    Banders #7

Finally after almost 12 year the scale finally showed 170 which was my long term goal weight on August 29, 2019. For me the Band though not always my friend but a tool to remind me to keep going.
