  1. I was sleeved 10/21/16 and the last few days I have been getting nauseous almost every time I eat, does anyone else have this problem? I am switching to liquid diet for a day or two to see if it helps and starting over. Any recommendations? psw:257 cw:210 gw:150 Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

Weight Gain 3 days post op?

I was up 8 pounds 2 days post op and was so upset. Some pals on here told me this can happen because all the IVs. Now I'm 7 days post op and down a total of 10 pounds since surgery. Hang in there that fluid weight will drop plus more.
  3. Hello there! I am sorry to hear that you're feeling so weak, but judging by what the other Talkers say, it's pretty normal. You DID just have major life-changing surgery! I just had my surgical consultation yesterday. I only have to lose 10 more pounds to get to my pre-op goal weight! The reason I responded to your post is that it is very concering to me that your surgical program did absolutely no follow-up with you. I guess it is a business, but I have to wonder, what are you doing during recovery? Do you just meet with your PCP back at home? You are totally, 100% RIGHT to be a bit miffed on their lack of caring. It seems odd that they would have no contact with you after the surgery. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey, and a happy new year~ Sarah Flagstaffian

    Stomach bug?

I am about 6 weeks post op. I've already called my bariatric office and left a message. About 10 days ago my husband had a stomach bug that we thought was food poisoning from him getting Chinese take out. It lasted three days. This morning, I woke up and felt "not right." Then I started to get nauseous. I took a zofran and drank half a protien shake with some decaf. Four hours later, I popped another Zofran because the nausea came back. I went to the bathroom and had diahreah, but once the zofran kicked in again I felt better. Now, I'm having this strange gurgle pains going through my intestines. (I think it's my intestines at least.) I ate a sf Popsicle and I felt it travel all the way through. I haven't thrown up at all but I thank the zofran for that because I truly think I would be otherwise. I've had no complications at all, I think everything is healing okay inside. I haven't had any pain anywhere. Yesterday I was packing some boxes and now I feel a little like I did some ab work from bending and moving around. Usually, I would take pepto or Imodium and go from there--but I've had issues being "backed up" two times in the recent past and I don't wanna constipate myself. Is the gurgling all the way down thing normal? Should I take some pepto and tough it out later? Should I try saltines? I've been the anti carb since I started.

    Any regrets?

I am 10 months out and could not be happier with my decision. I have lost more that 185 pounds and just purchased SIZE 6 jeans. My results have surpassed my wildest fantasies! That said, those first weeks are really tough, or were for me. When I was able to eat it didn't feel anything like a meal. I just wanted to feel normal again. Not with junk food or eating a lot, but having a meal that looked a bit like the plate you see with the recommendations for healthy eating. It takes time, but you will get there. Stay true to your plan. You are going to love the new you!
  6. I'm the same way, with everything. I'm 10 weeks post op (I think), and was doing the same thing, went in for another fill today because I've been STARVING for about 2 weeks.

    Crazy Questions..

I was banded on 10-22. I have been stalling at 17 Lbs..Im starting to wonder if its because Im not getting enough protein.
  8. Hi Trish, Thanks for responding. Do you still have your gallbladder? I am really surprised that you can't eat more. I have experienced maybe 5 times when the band has been tight in a year. Since I am at 9.5 cc in a 10cc my dr said that when I hit 10 cc they can't put in anymore. I don't know if the band is ok. I had tests in Oct and it was fine then. I have lost 50 since the band and want to do more. I go for a checkup on 1-15 but I will probably call Dr before. My heartburn is during the day. Hey maybe its my JOB. Take care, Jeanette

    Please help with ideas

Hi Everyone- I am 50 years old and was banded on 8/19/08 and have only lost 30 pounds since then. Not what I expected. I always was a slow loser but thought I would have more success with this. I was wondering if some of you could post what you eat during the day. I do get in my Water and have joined a gym where I do the half hour circuit room then 1/2 hour treadmill. I try to get in 60 grams of Protein a day. I have 40 more pounds to lose and am getting discouraged. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mary

To Frustr8: I’d love to get to know you. You’re my kinda gal! I worked for over 10 years fitting mastectomy bras. And yep... saw lots of tube sox titties! And now I get to see my own. Hahaha! I too want to see 175 or less, but I almost cannot wait to see less than 200. It’s been over 36 years! ( I had 4 over 9 lb pregnancies, and it was with the second that I went over 200. Like I said, I can hardly wait!!! Always enjoy your posts!
  12. Help me. I'm at work. I tried to eat lunch about an hour ago. tuna and cracker, and cooked veggies. I did okay. Didn't finish as I started to hiccup. Then the slime started. It won't stop. Every 10 minutes or so I toss up big wads of slime. No food. Just slime. I'm hanging over the trash bin. I had a fill last Friday. Have been fine up until now. I've been able to eat my meals. Smaller, but was doing fine. why now?......suggestions?????
  13. ABSOLUTELY!!! Everyone -- please re-read this word to the wise from "feedyoureye" She is unquestionably correct!! I am 10 months out and I can eat 1/4 - 1/3 cup of cubed skinless chicken breast - because it is so dense it fills me up. Other foods - yogart, cottage cheese.. I can eat 1/2 cup and be looking for more!
  14. Hi again! Thank goodness for these boards because I feel like I'm literally starting all over again. I researched WLS 10 years ago, found the Lapband, was able to get it covered by my insurance (after only 5 months of it being FDA approved). I lost about 100 lbs. over the course of 4-5 years. For a variety of reasons including having 2 difficult pregnancies, being on bed rest for 5 months, reflux and a completely unfilled band, I have regained about 70 lbs. In addition, 6 weeks ago I had my port replaced since it had been giving me lots of problems - it was flipped and difficult to access. When I went for my first fill after the surgery the dr. realized that my esophagus is dilated and my stomach is beginning to come up over the band - all bad news. Anyway - he left me unfilled for 8 weeks to see if my band, tummy, etc. will cooperate. In all honestly, I don't care if it does because I've pretty much had it with my band. I loved it for the first 5 or so years, and really appreciated it for the tool that it was. But now I'm so ready to have a procedure where I don't have to have fills, adjustments, PBs, etc. I do not want the RNY mainly because I know a few people who've had it and have pretty much been able to "eat around" it. I am also severely anemic so the malabsorption would be a problem for me. My doctors are trying to talk me into the RNY or the sleeve, which my insurance will pay for. I am definitely leaning towards the Plication. I've spoken w/ Dr. Rod's Belite team and so far, I like what I've heard. I'm also considering Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon and of course, Dr. Corvala. I have lots of experience w/ Dr. C because he has done lots of my millions (j/k) of band adjustments! Anyway - I'm doing so much research I'm starting to become obsessed... Just wanted to share my story and let you all know I really appreciate your stories and thoughts. If anyone has had surgery with any of the doctors I mentioned, please let me know how your experience was. Thanks! genepha
  15. So I just wanted some of your options. I have been told at month 9, 10 ish post op rny by my new city's nut that I was eating to much for where I'm at. I was eating about 1 c , a lil more maybe at each meal. It was divided between meat and veg , mostly meat of course. So anyways my breakfast this morning was the following: measured 3.20 Oz of chicken, about 1/4 of a medium apple and about 3 tbls of peanut butter. I was full and normally I don't eat this kind of meal. Normally I don't measure but i wanted to start new because I have fell off the wagon with the holidays and I'm trying to start fresh. Typically I eat 1 egg and 3 pieces of turkey bacon and I'm good. But I'm feeling super guilty about this peanut butter. I seriously love peanut butter and I think I had at least 2 servings maybe 3 this morning which is 200 each. Is this excessive or am I being obsessive? Should I just stick to my typical breakky?
  16. I started walking her two weeks after surgery. Funny enough she was recovering from TPLO surgery at the same time so we were walking about the same pace lol. We walked every day two to three times a day for 10 minutes each. Once I got cleared for harder exercise I still walk her but I don't count it as my calorie burn. Worst part is she now needs TPLO on the other knee I three months out currently.
  17. I am not going to eat any. I know that. It is still hard, I am still hungry, tired and grumpy. We have had a guest all weekend and I have not fallen off the cart. I had a big plate of broccoli at the restaurant last night. It was kind of funny to see the look on the waitress's face when I asked for broccoli for my dinner. I hope the next 5 days go quick. C'mon April 5th, I am ready for the next step!

    Last Supper Syndrome?

I have always been on a diet. I just knew Jenny Craig ( w.w., atkins, etc) would save me from my chubby hell. I've been doing Jenny for three years...off....and on and off...and so on. I've successfully lost 20 pounds each time...then some vacation or stressful life-moment comes along and I'd be gaining it back...and then falling off the wagon completely and giving my frame more pounds to shed before an eventual "Monday" would find me back at the Jenny Craig center weighing in another "record high!" I had had enough. A friend told me she was banded recently and she told me of her success. I started doing research. I asked my husband to help me research having Insurance pay. We researched for two months and they would not pay. Once we came to the conclusion to self-pay, I made an appointment to get the pre-op appointments over with. Thankfully they were to be done in one day....but that day was two weeks away! For those two months and two weeks, I had many last suppers. My husband and I love to go out to eat so he was sweetly concerned that I wouldn't be able to ever have such'n'such again. I was anxious about my last supper syndrome ( I even posted here wondering if I was 'normal' too!) and that anxiety seemed to exacerbate it. I was so thankful to get on my pre-op diet. It was like a freedom that my doctor gave me to finally pull in the reins. To do it all over again? Hell, I'd love to say I would start my diet sooner, or try to 'watch' it until my banding date...but I bet I wouldn't do it... I'm a pro-dieter after this many years and the rules strictly state that in order to have a "monday" in which to start said diet, then there must be a Sunday night of "preparing" with the ceremonial last supper...If said Sunday preparation lapses past 11:59, it is considered Monday. Therefore, we must take all week and prepare better for next Monday when diet officially starts. hehe Let me tell ya...those two weeks before I started my pre-op diet were a lot of 'lasts.' Beer, Movie popcorn, Beer, soda, Champagne, thai food, Beer, sushi. In those two months and those anxious two weeks, I'm sure I put on 20 pounds. I shed the necessary 10 for the two week pre-op diet ( minimul cheating!) and am coming down now still on the two week post op liquid diet ( btw, not as bad as I thought it would be!). So, the lesson? I wouldn't have those 20 "extra" pounds to shed if I would have pulled the reigns in on myself. Very logical. Did I read this from other banders during my research process? yes. Could I have figured this out on my own? yes. Did it change anything? evidently not silly pants! 2 week pre-op diet, 2 week post op liquid diet, 2 week mushie diet, 2 week trial banded-but unrestricted diet, 1st fill...end of last diet I will ever be on. The rest is regulated portion sizes and I think it's going to work for me. I'm not bitter for those last suppers, I'm more excited about not thinking food is such a big deal anymore. If anything will do that, it's a pre-op diet followed by a couple of weeks of liquids! OK, this post was MUCH bigger than I meant it to be. I musta had last 'comment' syndrome! ha! wow...must be late too...it's all these liquids too...making my mind "mushie" ha ha ha....gawd..I need help!

    Trouble foods

Unless you are eating spicy or salty foods or are not keeping hydrated between meals, it it probably has more to do with habit than being thirsty. You should not have a drink in front of you during a meal or you will grab it out of habit. I drink before my meals and wait 30 minutes after a meal to have another drink. But yes, it was very difficult in the beginning; but really stick with it for a week or so and it will get easier and eventually become habit. At 10 months I don't even think about a drink and no longer need to watch the time, I can tell when my 30 minutes have passed.

    Trouble foods

I guess I'm the odd one out. I can eat anything! I was thinking after my first fill that it might change but nope. I can still eat just about anything as long as I take my time. I'm at 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band. We'll see if this changes the further along we get.

I Lost My First 25 Lbs!!!

Congrats to you! I am also a few days away from one month and lost 10 on the pre-op diet, 15 on the liquid diet, and 10 post-op. I feel great already. Can not wait for my first fill. I get that on the 17th.
  22. I’m 10 years out from having a gastric sleeve and I’m close to my pre-op weight. I am so frustrated and disappointed with myself. I guess I stretched my stomach out. Is there anyone out there with this problem ?

    Trouble foods

Jodi, That's a great idea about not ordering a drink. I admit that I sip something when I order my food so I don't get too thirsty while I'm eating or after. Then I just hope it takes 10 minutes before the food gets to the table. Not very scientific or compliant. Your strategy is much better at following the rules. Your ticker shows that you're being very successful so I'm following your advice. Thanks and congratulations on your weight loss.
  25. Well, after my last fill 11/10 I decided it was time to get more agressive and stop the cycle of fills every 8 wks. I went in today (4 wks since last fill) and told the Dr. that we're going to try this MY way and that I wanted a fill. I actually thought that we'd schedule it today as the past 2 fills have been done via flouroscopy (sp?) anyway, he gave me a fill today - I figured 2 or 3 ml would do the trick. Well he gave me 6.6ml :scared2: today and YES, I'm feeling restriction. I can drink just fine and will see how this goes. I only hope this doesn't turn into be careful what you ask for:ohmy:.
