Pinky --I might be able to make lunch this week at Nifa's. I have an interview at 2 p.m. It will depend the location of my interview. I also agree that I need to stop living by the scale. I think I'm at a small plateu and I will get through this. Congrats to everyone having NSV this week. Vegas --sounds like a girls weekend out!!! Looking forward to it. Barbara465 I don't know what time I will be able to fly out yet. But It would be cool if all the Houstonians can be on the same plane. Melissa Lea

Fills seem to have a mind of their own. Continue to be very careful. I'm taking Barbara's advice and getting .3 for my next fill. I don't care how quickly the liquids go through. I agree about the scar tissue thing. I used to be able to feel the flat part of my port. Now what I feel first is the round edge. I can still feel the flat part angling inward--but it feels "bumpy" which must be scar tissue. Wonder if it's something to do with being over 50? I'm hoping the buildup will stop soon. I don't like to think about losing the band. I do hope to have it unfilled completely after I've lost the weight and feel confident of my eating habits. The floor installers are still here and I'm weary of them. Kept promising an early afternoon--and I need to prepare for this afternoon's students. The dogs are even getting on my nerves. Thankfully, I love the new floor. NSV--The new blouse I bought 6 weeks ago that wouldn't button (I wear sleeveless t's under open shirts) can now be buttoned. I also don't worry about shrinking anything any more. I never dried any knit top or pants, but that's not an issue any longer.

HI ALL!!! First, longggggggggggg time no check in. December has been mad crazy. Stephanie...you know your reply to me really helped so much. I started following along with your way of eating and yep...it worked. I am a slowwwwww loser but the key word is loser! I am down a little bit more. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You are such an inspiration with your incredible weight loss. I guess you and Beth are our Julyster's angels because you are so constant with your posts and advice and support. ;) :bananajump: :bananajump: :Banane10: :Banane34: My DH and I traveled to my family in Georgia and I really did well with the eating. Cute story: my Mom is almost blind and when I tucked her in bed the first night she said you know when I hugged you today you feel smaller. I told her I had lost weight and she was so happy for me. I had not told her about my surgery because she unfortunately has stroke induced dementia/sundowners so she would worry obsessively about me. Anyway....that touched my heart that she could feel the dif!! Oh and one more NSV- I haven't bought clothes since surgery because I wanted to wait for smaller sizes. I saw a precious Christmas sweater and could not resist. BUTTTTTTTTT...the 5x was too large. Wow. I was so happy to "re-visit" a 4x!! Happy New Years dear fellow bandsters and God Bless!!! May our year be filled with great days and smaller bodies!!!!! Ruthie (and please say hi someone!!!! I know I have been away but would love a hug!)

What's up everyone how's it goin? I had a NSV over the break, I was going in for my 6 month checkup (5 months in) and they had a new gal working working at the front desk. Lap-Band patients have to fill out some survey thing that reports stuff to your doctor. Well she didn't give me one so I was just sitting their waiting, and like 10 minutes later she calls me over and says she didn't know I had the lap-band and gave me the sheet. I'm joining in on the Valentine Challenge, I've been a slug over christmas break. I'll say 210-215 by Valentine's Day. Anyways, I start a pretty hard course load on wednesday so wish me luck. (I'm taking a weight training course too, pretty cool :heh:) Welp, take it easy everyone. Here is a new pic(click for biggie): Also, I'm hoping to hit my overall goal before June 24th (a year from when I originally started my diet, one month before the surgery.)

the progress you have made is inspiring. I always look forward to seeing your posts. Thank you very much. I'm glad to be around to post...........'being around' wasn't a safe bet a year ago. Comorbitities were piling up and dragging me down. I'm grateful and trying to set things up so I can do a better job for the next half of my life. I told Chritinamo7 about my NSV on Mothers' Day, Dub, so I'll share it with you now. My daughter and I were going through my mothers hope chest in the attic on Sunday. In there were all of the baptismal gowns and my wedding gown. Talk about ancient!!! After much whining and pleading I tried it on. I don't know which was more wrinkled--the gown or my skin, but the NSV was ---IT WAS TOO LARGE!!! The last time I wore that gown was 44yrs ago this month. I only fit into it because I went on a "starvation" diet for weeks before my wedding. Wow! Wrinkled or not, it felt good. First time in a long time---I felt----really happy. Simple feeling shouldn't be soooo hard to accomplish. I had almost forgotten how good it feels just to be happy. I may try it more often. Hell yes you should !!!! Putting that dress on had to bring a big smile to her face as well. Great story has me grinning. Being surrounded by such positive people is a blessing. What a great friend to show such enthusiasm for your progress. Very cool. I don't think I kept anything from before. It's all gone.....at least I think it is. It's time to go through the closet again. Long gone are the 6x, 5x and 4x shirts. I'm now buying shirts in 2x and wearing some of them. It's a funny process.

(Sort of) an NSV for me... 15 days post-op, down 18 pounds; 83 total in 5 months. I met a guy on match.com shortly before surgery and today we finally were able to have our first date. (He knows I had surgery but not what kind.) So guess what we did on our "date"... went SWIMMING!!! Yes, I was in a bathing suit on a first date with a guy!!! I was freaked out but he's been so complimentary of me it quickly faded. I can still wear my old bathing suits but it was nice not to have my belly peak out between my top and bottom. And I have complained about my boobs shrinking but now they actually FIT into the top and look perky and round instead of falling out all over the place! Big win for Kelly today!

Well, I guess I'm the only one still posting around here, but, here goes. I went to someone's house today and we were standing in the yard when the gent offered me a chair. It's one of those sling style chairs where there is a frame and then fabric to hold you up. I declined the chair out of fear that I'd break it. When I said as much, he told me he'd pick me up if that happened. That's the second NSV, a man offered to pick my big butt up! LOL The first NSV is that I sat in that chair, comfortably, for about 35 minutes and it didn't even creak or groan! YAY ME!!

stephanie - congrats on your 40th and you wedding anniversary Mary - sounds like you're having some fun, wish I was on vacation Sherri - I'm sure things will get better, I haven't lose much in the last couple months either I guess I could share some nsv's, so far I've gone from an XXL to a Medium. I've been taking care of myself alot more than I used to. It's alot easier to talk to people, and people (women) have generally been more interested in me. My grades have drastically improved (2.35 gpa before band to 3.75 this/last semester) and life in general is just peachy. My younger brother just turned 21 so we went out bar hopping, same with on st. pattys day. He is going to be my gym buddy this summer so I have someone to drag me on those days I don't want to go. I am REALLY looking forward to the 199 mark, and I will enjoy giving lectures on LB to people thinking about going through with the procedure over the summer. The only real problem I still have is that I still think I weigh like 300 pounds, but I'll get over it eventually (hopefully) Anyways I'll check back in later to see how everyone is doing. -chris

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
clarityseeker replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thin people totally don't get how big of a deal this is to us. I started at 18/20 and am now 14/16 (3 months from surgery). I can comfortably cross my legs now. One direction is more comfortable than the other, though. I try to remember not to sit too long like that because it really isn't the best way to sit for circulation and stuff, but when I am somewhere that I have to sit and my legs can be seen, it's really cool to be able to cross them in a ladylike way! Truly one of my first big NSV's. -
Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
Kat817 replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'd say it was an 18, but not as comfortable as a 16, and now I am in some 14's and to sit that way is natural again. I'm with you, I was thrilled. My new NSV was this morning, lying in bed, my DH told me "check that out, you can see your individual ribs". And I could I could feel each rib, and the separation between them!!! Keep going, those legs will go where ya want 'em soon!!! Kat -
Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
M!@ replied to Ritcheycop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely Feisty! So day eight post op and a couple of incision stitches had to go...My 3 smaller incisions stitches removed this morning. My skin was starting to heal over them, and that's a no no. The two others I will give a few move days. In other news. I am able to swallow my antibiotic rather than dumping the contents in Jello NSV....only 2 days left of those and I will add the multiV. Then probably calcium. My doc says add the iron if needed after healed. -
Korilynn ~ How did your fill go, and how are you feeling -- more restriction or about the same? You are doing great! I am going in for my second fill next week -- my doctor is pretty conservative, so I'll probably get 1 cc (same as last time). Give or take a pound or two, I'm sitting on a plateau. I've been really diligent about sticking to 1200 calories and at least 65 grams of Protein per day, and exercising at least 30 minutes every day (I try for 60, but life sometimes gets in the way with my work schedule and the kids schedules). What kind of work outs are you doing? I'm walking/slow jogging either outside or on the treadmill and taking zumba classes. If I can get over my personal phobia of bathing suits :scared: , I would like to try swimming since it gets super hot and humid where I live. Erynkkgrl ~ Hi! I haven't noticed any restriction changes closer to AF arriving, but I do notice the Water gain which comes and goes quickly with it. Is your port angled? Did your doctor install it? I've heard that they can sometimes twist. Loozer2b ~ You're doing great -- congrats on the NSVs! I love hearing stuff like that from my fellow bandsters! I hear you on the busy family schedules -- sometimes I think my kids have a busier social life than I do -- and they are still really pretty young. LoL. Do you think you've hit your sweet spot? With this last fill, I felt like I had almost less restriction than before the fill -- sometimes it's almost like I don't have a band, and then I won't chew enough and I'll have a moment where the food goes down slowly and uncomfortably...KWIM? How are the rest of you doing? I hope everyone is well!

Had an AWESOME NSV last night. I had ordered myself 2 pairs of my favorite jeans. I've been wearing a 22, so I ordered one pair size 22 and one pair of size 20. Well, it looks like the 22's will be returned because the 20's FIT! YAY! I've gone from pants size 24 sometimes 26 down to a 20!!! So excited about it! I'm also down to a 1x top - I used to wear a 3x top! I just had to share!

Letty's journey post-op
Rdsegobia replied to Rdsegobia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to say I got a great NSV, so my 8 year old son was hugging me yesterday and he tell me all excited look look mommy I could put my hands all around you!! I was like awww best feeling ever! -
just a quick update from me... I am now back to 164, what I am calling my all time lowest (I did see 163 once, so I am not counting that!). HUbby has now lost 17lbs and is really looking good...he is getting his waist line back! He is also reporting a feeling of well being that he hasn't had for a long time! To hear him say that is amazing cos over the last three years, he has had a really tough ride of things. This way of eating is really benefiting me and I am starting to feel a little more confident. This is going to sound really strange, but I am 'feeling' smaller. I went out Friday night with the peeps from work and my hubby said that I looked 'tiny'! In all our married life, he has never used that adjective on me.... chuffed! After 5 weeks of following the primal style eating I am starting to look at sugary foods in a different light... they don't interest me anymore! Here is an example: me and hubby went to the cinema last night... normally we would consider this a 'treat' and associated with that would be lots of chocolate, cola and popcorn. He would have a large bag of M&Ms and I would have a small (which isn't that small actually...lol) bag of popcorn - we would share the drink. Anyway, last night we shared some dark choc - 4 squares each. I took some macadamia nuts and dry cranberries and he had some dried apricots! Talk about an NSV!! Didn't look for anything else... wasn't interested in the sweets or popcorn shop...Oh and we shared a bottle of water!!! Chuffed or what! This, after 2 1/2 years out is definitely a sign that progress never stops. I am looking forward to seeing my PS now, to see what he says about the TT ... I really think that this will mark the end of my journey, and regardless of what the scales says, I will be where I want to be. I'll keep you all posted! Hope you are all doing well... Oh, and thank you swizzy for pointing me in the direction of Mark's daily apple...

Today has been a good day re food... low carbs, high Protein and just under 900 cals... the xmas weight has come off now... just got to see the lower end of my 'bounce weight' .... then to get below 164lb! With the really low carb, I was hoping to see a little more movement...perhaps I am being impatient... yea, ok, I know I am being impatient! One thing that I have noticed is that I am getting headaches... now, this is probably hormone related with a little bit of low carb thing included... gotta push through this! I've been give HRT Patches to try again too... and put my first one on tonight, so this will be an interesting couple of week... let's hope that they won't affect my weight or moods too much... lol Glad to see you all adding your days, experiences to this thread... it really does help me to see others out there in the same boat. I still love reading success stories and when efforts are rewarded with either weight loss or NSV! Keep up the good work my sleeve friends...

Oh I forgot to mention my NSV... my hubby decided he wanted to weigh our dog, a golden lab who is 4yrs old. He weighed in at 74lb... this is what I have lost! I have lost my dog! When I see it, actually see it in another form/shape it blows me away! When my hubby, who struggled to lift him, put him down, I asked him if he could imagine having that weight all over his body and go about his day to day business... he said 'No, that would be bloody awful!' Imagine his face when I told him that our dog represents my weight loss... yep, he too was god smacked! So fellow goalers... what represents your weight loss to date? My ulitmate goal of being 139lbs would mean that I would of lost my 11yr old son ...lol ... that really would make me smile! =]

Hi ladies, and thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement! I started off the day right today ... got in a hard 30 minute workout (mostly kettlebell/cardio with some abs thrown in) before getting ready for work. Breakfast (not the healthiest thing ever but I LOVE it) was Costco's Kirkland Signature Steak Strips (each serving has 60 calories, 9g Protein, 5g carbohydrate, .5g fat, don't even ask me about the sodium though, LOL! Well OK, it's 330mg of sodium if you must know.). I had to swing by the local doughnut shop for a coworker who asked me to bring them into the office and am proud to say I didn't partake of any of them, even though they looked fantastic. Little NSV for me! For snack today I will have a mandarin orange. lunch is leftover homemade chicken gumbo (pretty healthy -- lots of veggies and shredded boiled chicken and spices) w/only a little rice (like 1/8 cup or something) mixed in. Afternoon snack will be more steak strips. dinner is stir fry. I've got my meals all planned out and that definitely helps keep me from snacking. Big NSV yesterday -- I had a stash of snacking foods in a drawer at work and would nosh them regularly. I took all the Snacks out and put them in the common area in the office. Yay, me! It's all gone now (eaten by my always-hungry coworkers), and so even if I am tempted to have a carby snack, the carbs are all gone! I will NOT keep snacks in my drawer at work anymore ... too easy to eat and that can add up to hundreds of extra calories a day. I am sorry to admit I even had that stash; but there you go. It was what it was. It's over now. Fresh start is underway! Have a great day everyone and I love seeing your updates!

i LOVE NSV's!!! - georgia/renewed just got caught up on the sept 07 board....good to see it alive again. leslie - unfills seem to do well for me; i might be heading in this wk for unfill #3 because it's been a while that i can eat a hot meal hot. gets annoying to wait , wait , & wait some more. hope your ankle is feeling better!!! kathy - i notice that runners do the acknowleged "nod" to one another; a neat club to be in. running was just not in the cards for me today - tried, and the legs would rather be in the yoga class that just started so left the treadmill for the dark confines of the class....i need to do this more; i felt better and my legs needed a break... have a good evening all!

Georgia... Yeah!!! Congrats on running again! Now, next time you're outside, don't trip on the cracks!!!! Renewed... reality bites, but its good to get a full dose of it once in awhile to bring you back around. Sorry you've conceeded defeat! I've been out of town since Monday morning, so have just now caught up on everyone. I used the hotel fitness facility to run Tue & Today, and it was nice. NSV to share... ever go to the hotel and they have small bath towels and those plush housecoats that are "One Size Fits All". It was always very frustrating for me cause the towels were too small to wrap around me and the housecoats would never fit me... Well now they do!!! After my shower I wrapped the towel around me and it OVERLAPPED! Then I cozyied up in the housecoat, and it was too big!!! I get to fly on Feb 1st, which is the first time since very early banding days (about 85 lbs ago), so I'm excited to see if I fit in the seat comfortably now???
-
Georgia that's great! You are such a better person than I am. About a month ago I surpassed DH in weighing less - I joyfully sang nanny-nanny-boo-boo...that's just me though. Congratulations - soon he'll be able to pick you up (my DH too). I'm going to get small enough to get "remarried" and be carried across the threadhold - ah my dreams, silly - but something I've always wanted. I'm so happy for you girl! 100 pounds AND a great NSV...and trust me that one rocks!!!!!
-
Is there something I'm missing about GA running outside??? Guess so. I'll have to read back a while it seems. Whosya, thanks for the encouragement. I think I have it in perspective again, considering that I am already looking for a new race to do. I need to do one in more hospitable conditions though. If I need to chalk this one up to experience with the cold so be it, but now that ive been there and done that, I dont feel compelled to do THAT particular scenario again any time soon. LOL. Even thinking warm thoughts didnt help. The coolest thing that came out of this race for me is a really awesome NSV. Ive had several (like 6) of my non-banded friends say to me that they'd be interested in doing some training with me for a 5K!!!!! One said she finds me an inspiration for the wt loss and trying to get fit! Now, thats what I call motivating. I get so much encouragement from all over now, but especially from my band friends. THANKS Y'ALL!!!! Carol

Renewed - that sucks! I hope they can get your air fixed today. I see you are in Texas. Is it scortching now? The humidity here is killing me! Is it the whole unit or do you have a leak? Ours went out two years ago at this time - it's miserable! kathy - that' wonderful! I'm like you - I was a 42/44DDD preband and love that the girls have shrunk. Yea!! Great NSV!!!
