Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

1/9/06: Weight 221 (up 1 lb) NSV: I exercised twice this past week (for 45 minutes each time). For me, that's pretty good!

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

I started at 220 and I finally broke through to 218. My NSV for the week: I pulled every piece of clothing out of my closet that was larger than a size 20. I now own 5 shirts!!! Guess it's time to go shopping...

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

Thanks Debby-do! Checking in with challenges motivates me. For some reason, just that small accountability helps. I agree w/ Ann in the one NSV tho--one a week is enough to pat ourselves on the back. I think I disagree about shortening the time tho. It seems like most of our challenges have been too short to me. Two months (a little less because Feb is short) is enough time to actually SEE a difference. Either way, count me in!

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

Weight, unknown. NSV - when DH asked me to take him to Sonics for Ice Cream, I SAID NO. And I ate raw veggies for snack on Sunday, instead of chips.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

Weigh-in, 1/3/06: 220 Debby, can you clarify the end date? I'm a little confused about whether the challenge ends on 3/1 or 3/31... My goal either way is to make it to Onderland by the end of the challenge. It's ambitious, but I think I can do it if I work out. My workout goal is 3-4 days a week, 45 minutes at a time. NSV for this past week: I finally worked out yesterday! I was able to do much more than I expected (40 minutes on the treadmill, 8 minutes on the elliptical). I usually just shoot for 30 minutes, but I was feeling so good I couldn't stop.

You know you lost weight when

When you can no longer shop in your favorite plus size stores anymore When you and your 12 year old and raiding each others closets When you reach a weight lower than your hubby and kids When you buy Jeans from fashion nova in a size 13 (juniors) and they are a little loose so you buy another pair in an 11 and when they arrive you realize you could have gone down 1 more size When you don't have to try on your clothes anymore when shopping. You can pretty much eyeball it. When you wear clothes that were purchased as a NSV award during previous weight loss attempts and they are now too big When people see you and say I want to look like you

    June 2018 losers bench

Ya'll are doing amazing at 40+ pounds lost. WAHOOOO! I felt really good this past weekend and the puree stage is really helping me feel satisfied. I'm 4 weeks post-op today and down 30 lbs. That does include a 12 lb. loss on my pre-op diet. I'm super happy! I'm wearing a long dress today to work and just bent down with ease to pick up some leaves that fell off a floral arrangement. I didn't even think twice about bending down. When I was down there, I smiled to myself. NSV!
  11. Wonderful to see all my positive friends here.... Great idea for a fun thread. BT. Welcome to the club and not for one minute have you not really belonged. You are MY true inspiration. (maybe if I had had a heart problem I would have been as motivated as you). You are doing AWESOME!!!! Be ready for the surgery pain. GAS, Bloating and weird head for 2 days. By Friday you will feel good and be off to the races. Enjoy that loaf of bread!!!! I had a weird week. After hitting 299, the scale went up 9 pounds. (Water retention??) I had salty Peanut Butter pretzels this week, and salty buffalo chicken nuggets and forgot my BP meds for a few days. But this morning, it showed 300.2 before going to the gym so I am back to even. (I think I was dehydrated at the 299 day, as I had just gone to the gym and worked out for an hour then sat in a steam room). Best NSV's: I now wear XL tee shirts, and 46 jeans, but I can actually button and zip 44 size Levi's and bought them at Kohl's not Casual Male... I keep having to put new holes in my favorite belts. I had to buy a leather hole puncher. I can wear a pair of size 12 Nikes that used to be too small. Funny how your feet shrink too. I noticed I sit a lot farther back from the steering wheel in my car. Funny huh... I am flying tomorrow, and despite not being upgraded yet (I fly so much I have top status) I selected an exit row seat that has more leg room. I usually could not, as I had to use a belt extender. Not anymore!!! I stopped counting calories and exercise cause I have figured it out in my head how to live without having to be anal about it. I still watch calories and exercise a lot (45 min to an hour on an eliptical, six days a week) I can eat out, and do so often. I have had 2 fills and feel some restriction and feel close to PB if I eat too fast. I don't have head hunger often, and when I do, I have figured out substitutes (sugar free Jello, pudding and popsicles) that work for me. Best of all, I eat real food. Had a steak last night. 7 oz filet instead of a 22 oz ribeye. I alway eat on a small plate and cut food small and eat slow. I have had ribs, chicken, mexican, and a just about every other type food. Just a lot less. The band has changed me. All for the good. I read this site everyday and love the positive posts. I angst sometimes over the drama posts and the needy people, but sorry, that may be a guy thing. You guys are all terrific cause ALL of you have made a choice to change your life. We are really a small minority of the obese, overweight America (and other countries) that have chosen to fight our issues. We are the people that will succeed. OK, we need supportive people around to help and also to validate. But we will all live longer, more fun lives because we are here doing this. You guys and girls are awesome... Keep it up!! TJ
  12. Hummingbird-- CONGRATS on your NSV! That had to be a great feeling coming from your son!! It's different when it's a loved one that sees you all the time. It means so much more (but hey, nice to hear anyone say how great you're looking LOL) Stacie--I'm so sorry to hear about Jeff. I have been saying prayers. Just terrible and I'm so sorry. And no matter WHAT, you will NOT fail. You aren't able to!!! And to make you feel better, the weeks where I really watch what I eat and exercise a lot, I either stay the same or gain. I attribute it to the whole fat turning to muscle thing LOL. Makes me feel better that way. Bob-- LOVE the ticket to Onederland! Just awesome! Christie--so when does your little man come back (or did he already?) Donna--don't worry about the gain right now. It's early--trust me, you will see the numbers move in the other direction very soon, I promise. Leigha--I have to agree with everyone here. You look absolutely AMAZING! If you don't lose another pound, you have made it, my friend! We're all super proud of you!!! You have worked so hard and honestly, you are a poster child of success!!! Denise--Safe travels to Florida and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I have a baby shower on Sunday too (wish mine was in Florida--sniff sniff). Soooo, OF COURSE I haven't made a purchase in, oh about TWO freaking weeks, so what did I go out and do today? Yup, bought a freaking iPad! I thought of you also as I was setting it up LOL Too funny. Told the hubs I won it at work to avoid any issues (taking it from my funny money so he won't even know ) Thankfully, I am able to eat a little better today. Still need to take my time, but I'm not in excruciating pain like I was over the weekend. I have actually had only 3 small meals today!!!! I'm shocked! LOL I was prepared to need a small snack, but nope. I did great! SO excited--I found TROP-A-ROCKA!!! It's that Snapple flavor Bret Michaels created in the last season of Celebrity Apprentice! I was in a store I never ever go to because I just needed to grab bread on the way home from the bank and BAM! One lonely six pack of it was staring me in the face! It was y-u-m-m-y!! 10 calories for a whole bottle!! Yeah! Jordyn, my daughter, did very well yesterday getting all that dental work done (she had to be put to sleep to have it done). She woke up so sleepy and cuddly. She's 4, so she's already my little baby, but she was suuuuper cuddly yesterday. I had a great day just holding her and taking care of her. I really missed her when I went back to work today. Hope everyone is having a great week! SO excited that I get to run a webinar at 8 pm for our client in Japan. Come on Friday! Hubby and I have tickets to see Tom Petty on Saturday night. Can't wait!!!
  13. Great NSV Melody! Oh, your trip sounds so fun! Atkins will be so much better for your trip. Going in very tight band mode would not be easy.
  14. I'm off to Boston for a conference for the next three days, and will be in touch again Monday. I walked 2 miles today, and have made a commitment to at least 2 miles 5-7 days a week. Plus my calories are 1200. So I'm on my way. Oh, NSV today- a neighbor I haven't seen for about three months said "You've lost weight!" It shows! Now, boys and girls, behave yourselves, especially Christie and Felix:tongue2:!!!
  15. Shammah--Happy Anniversary! Sandy-- We are glad your here. Jacki-- Congrats on the 10's, BTW what is a Wawa? Dottie-- You can always put the puzzle back in the box, leaving big chunks together and go back to it later if you feel like it. Oh and I get your chat messages on FB but when I try and reply it says you are offline! Yesterday when I was running there was a dead monkey beside the road. Y'all are saved from a picture since I was not suppose to stop. That is probably the strangest thing I have ever seen while running. NSV alert! My thighs no longer touch when I am standing with my feet at shoulder width. I was at least 23 the last time that happened.:waytogo::biggrin: My husband congratulated me on my thriftiness yesterday. (I am still not sure this is a complement.) He said "Way to go on getting a two-fer on your surgery!" So when I asked what he meant he said "A lap band and a breast reduction! Anyone want to borrow a smartass for a while?
  16. Well I made it. I was banded on the first and now I am counting down until I can get my first fill. I am starving!! I had a great nsv today put on my jeans and they are so loose!! Excited to meet everyone.
  17. Bobbie!!!! I'm so glad everything is okay! It sounds like while you've had a lot going on, there has been some really good things happening! Wooohoo on onederland girl, you go!!!! Congrats on both your scale and NSVs. You've done so amazingly well considering you haven't been able to be seen by the doctor in awhile. Hope time flies until Nov 1 when your new insurance kicks in. Congrats on the new job!!!! Great to 'see' you!
  18. Hey everyone. I am on I40 heading for Kingman, AZ. Yesterday was interesting Got stuck on a croissant. I know, not the most band friendly, slimed and urped for an hour. Ugh. So today feeling very tight. But my pressure was 104/70!!! A record for me lately! I will be meeting up with my sister and her husband in Sedona later today, yay! Karen, you will get iPad before I get BB. I live in ignorant bliss of my lack of calories burned. And there are far too many iPad accessories I NEED! Like a 12 volt charger for use on the road!!! Congrats on breaking the plateau!!!! OH!! NSV Alert!!! I caught sight of myself in a mirror yesterday when I wasn't really expecting it and was surprised to see the skinny chick looking back at meI I think this latest issue has caused either more loss or a redistribution, because I looked different. Anyway, sorry for typos, still adjusting to this keyboard! Take care everyone!!
  19. Ok, I'm catching up on some of the posts (which go back to August 8th!) so bear with me... Christie: ROFLMAO about your '8packs'. I'd take it as a compliment! Stacie: Just read your post about possibly going back to school. Just do it. I know 'years' sounds long but, trust me, they go by so fast! I went back to school at 28 to get my bachelor's and the years sped by! Hummingbird: Congrats on the NSV moment! I like those much better because it makes me realize that the scale is not 'king'. Bobbie: Woohoo! on Onderland...and the job! Cocoa: Sorry to hear about your tooth! I did the same thing though and I had insurance. After playing around with it for months trying to figure out why it was causing me pain, I told them to just take it out. Best decision I ever made. Hey...you're on FB? Friend me! Melody Parker Upham Shad: How come they're waiting so long to flip your port?? Betsy: I am so sorry to hear of all you're going through. There's a BPD (borderline personality diagnosis) board at home that I've found amazingly helpful in dealing with my own BPD family member...who I am thankful to say lives 5 hours away. The support there is tremendous. Bob: Great news on the plastic surgeon! Are you getting this done before you've lost all your weight or just 'checking out' the possibilities. Leigha: Love your before and after pics! So did you find the 'bandit'? Dottie: Welcome back from one MIA to another. Ok, I hope I didn't miss anyone!
  20. Elfie-- congrats on the NSV! 35 pounds since your last visit--that's just awesome!!!!
  21. LOL Leigha--I thought the same thing too when I got up this morning @ Anne's surgery being today. So glad we didn't miss the chance to say good luck! We're glad you're still here with us, Anne! Leigha, a wawa is a convenient store we have here on the east coast (like a 7-11 type). Sodas, subs, cigs (yuk), coffee, candy, things like that. There is almost one on every corner. You are doing freaking awesome with the running! Go girl!!! I am so excited to hear about that NSV! I wonder if my thighs will always touch at this point. You never know, but it's good to know of someone that is able to say theirs don't anymore, so you are going to be my inspiration and hope LOL! My husband is quite the smart ass too. And what is up with all the boob comments? My hubby is mad that I'm down to a 38D. I can finally shop at Victoria's Secret and he's mad???? Far cry from my 46F, but whatever. I am no longer hunchback LOL! Ummm, okay I would have been totally freaked by that dead monkey btw. HB---niiiiice!!! I'd certainly consider THAT an NSV. Very cool! LOVE the comforter set by the way. Bobbie--wanna have a slumber party at Crystl's? I'll bring the margaritas ! Jacki--congrats on getting into those 10s and zipping them up! That's an awesome feeling!! I bet in no time at all, they will turn out to be your 'comfy' jeans :-)! I am about 20 minutes from the Phila zoo too---I can't believe what a small world it is! Shammah-- Happy (belated) anniversary and congrats on 7 years of marriage! May you have a hundred more :-) Love the pic! You look great and you can see a major difference! Keep up the great work! Dottie--Don't give up on that puzzle! Maybe if you do it like Leigha says and doing it in small bits, heck you can make it into two 1,000 piece puzzles :-)! Stacie--Half way there!!! WOW! You should be SO proud of yourself! All your hard work is paying off! Christie--glad you're feeling better. More importantly, glad you're able to EAT again!!! Denise--I'm both jealous and inspired by you. 5 lbs to goal! You are amazing! How about this freaking thread about following the rules? Spartan surely handed them their a$$. Holy crap! Sometimes I think people try to stir the pot and start things like that. Not a full blown troll, but someone that likes to ignite a good sized debate. I think a lot of them are forgetting the purpose of the board in the first place. Thank God we have this thread. It's too easy to get caught up in the negative stuff. Really and truly.
  22. J'smom: Tom Petty? I'm 'heartbroken' (ar ar). I *love* Tom Petty but my claustrophobia keeps me from ever going to one of his concerts. ;-( Congrats on breaking the 160's! Hummingbird: Congrats on the NSV moment. It's always nice when someone else notices, eh? Leigha: You can have some of mine! Mine aren't shrinking near as much as I'd hoped they would. ;-( Denise: Happy Anniversary...and safe trip! Stacey: I am so sorry for your loss and I will put your family in my prayers. I've only read back to July 22nd but have quite a bit to do today since it's my son's 18th birthday so no time to read more. You guys are just prolific posters!

    My small and pathetic NSVs!

WOWOWOWOWOW! Those aren't small NSV's at ALL!! Those are HUGE!!!! I remember the first time I noticed that I was walking around a store and wasn't overheated and sweaty. THIS WAS A HUGE HAPPY DAY FOR ME and it should be for you too! THANK YOU TREADMILL!!!!!! (and this is a good reminder for me to get BACK on my treadmill!!!) Whooooop, NSVs!!!!!
  24. WOW, that is an impressive list of NSVs!!! Woo Hoo! Clearance shopping is the best, and you look wonderful in your new threads. Your hair is beautiful also, lucky girl doesn't look like you are loosing any!
