Premier Protein is way to sweet for me. I also use GENEPRO and there has been much debate about the 30 grams. I'm sure by now if it weren't correct there would be consumer complaints to verify and adjust the claim. Do the research as I've seen the 15 gram claim before and don't think that is accurate. I like it cause I can mix it in everything even if just add 1/2 scoop to things like yogurt that already has 15 grams of protein to get to 30. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Motivation to eat
crazyplantlady replied to Tssiemer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a lot of motivation at that time too. I tried to find things I enjoyed eating and reminded myself that Protein would help me lose faster and healthier. one of my favorite things at that stage (and today) was refried black Beans, salsa, and cheese Heated up in the microwave so the cheese gets melty I can even add GENEPRO Protein powder to it in, and it tastes so good! A good source of Fiber, protein, and healthy carbs. Just try to find things that you enjoy! try to have fun with it. We're all here because we enjoy food, and there's no reason you can't do so still! Just in a healthier way, and in moderation. -
5 days post op, difficulty meeting protein goals
trekker954 replied to leliwhoaoh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had the sleeve and my gallbladder removed at the same time. I'm sorry you are having a difficult time, but seriously, now isn't the time to be money pinching, when RTD shakes are going to keep you alive and healthy. Sip, sip, sip. And make sure you intake Water, tea, mix our water with crystal light or other flavors to make it easy to go down... But you cannot just say you can't do it, or can't afford it. You MUST!!! You won't be on shakes for long. Once you can tolerate food, and you have been cleared, you can get your Protein in. Many of us, continue to use shakes as it is an easy way to meet the daily goal. Premiere shakes are good, most of us tolerate those. Buy some GENEPRO. Its expensive, but you can mix it with just about anything and it has no taste. I way overbought in preparation and now find, that I have found my favorite flavor, its hard to use the other products I bought. oh well. I will continue to do, especially in this crucial beginning period, to drink and eat, what agrees with me best. -
Nectar vs Isopure unflavored
ShelterDog64 replied to sey1008's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
For what it's worth...I was a HUGE Isopure fan pre-op. Post-op, I literally could not get it past my lips. I liked Syntrax for a very brief couple of weeks post-op, and I can't stand it now. I'm a GENEPRO fan now, no smell, no taste, doesn't change the consistency of food. Whatever you do, don't over-invest in anything pre-op, because almost everyone's taste changes after surgery. You can get samples of lots of different Protein powders on several websites, and that's a good way to go. -
Nectar vs Isopure unflavored
lelewatson replied to sey1008's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Great question. I'm pre op and been asking the same thing. About Vitamins and Protein. I did get some samples of unjury protein and I think I'm going to invest in GENEPRO because i can add it to walk if yhats all I can get down. Wish you luck. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App -
There was a lawsuit and GenePro lost. Because it was found that the listed amounts of protein per serving were greatly inflated, so they were lying to people.
-
No, but I will look into that and Isopure which was also recommended. That one said you could bake with it. I don't usually do pancakes but my kids and husband like them, so with my husband and me I do 2 eggs, 1/2 cup flaxseed meal, 2 scoops genepro, and one mashed banana for taste and I think 1/2 a tsp for rising. (I made it up) I don't do gluten and one pancake or less and I'm done, it makes six. But if I counted the 30 grams per scoop each pancake had 14 grams of protein. So I guess I am looking for one I can use to put in things to bake or cook with

What do you do to up your protein and calories?
rainyann replied to Jess55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also use GenePro protein powder... it is tasteless and dissolves completely... just don't add it to really hot liquids. I buy mine from Amazon -
That's a reasonable way of looking at it. Although it's likely less than 17g of protein (it list 58 calories, so you're probably talking about 14g of protein a serving maybe 13) Which makes genepro incredibly overpriced as well as being disingeous. I still think youre better off finding a protein maker who is more honest and upfront , but if you're adamant on it I think it's OK as long as you're looking at it the way you are.
-
@TexasMommy80 I agree, it's tough for some to find something that we can tolerate. After reading about the lawsuits, etc I haven't thrown out my bag, will I possibly look for another powder? Maybe. But genepro works well for me too for what I use it or when I use it. I just like it because of how it dissolves and how it is in hot items. But im open to hearing any other people's types of powders.

Kinda scared..problems with sleeve
A New KK replied to ZombieQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at almost 2 months also and had the same problem with nausea added in. Mine was dehydration. I really pounded the Water for a couple of days and the symptoms went away. I also struggle with getting in all the Protein and fluids but have found the Fluid to be more important. Also someone here posted about GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder and it has been a godsend. It has 30 grams of protein in a small scoop. I mix that into refried Beans, chili or eggs and that way I get the protein grams in even if I can't eat 3 full meals. -
I still mix GENEPRO Protein into my coffee every morning for 30 G of protein and I am 9 months out. It's a good CYA just in case I don't get it in with all my food. I also don't like most of the protein shakes or bars. I do like the Powercrunch bars. Good luck- LA

I want to succeed
1GardenGirl replied to Bunbunisdonedone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad I found this topic. I'm almost 2 weeks post VSG and the protein is difficult. I have dozens of bottles of Protein2O and just thinking about it makes me want to gag! I ordered Isopure and almost cried when I opened it and saw the huge scoop of a serving size. Also, it is not tasteless... So, I'm going to order the Genepro and cross my fingers that I can get it down. Time to drink more water. -
Can I have an scramble egg
Kindle replied to Lifeafter40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used unjury unflavored. It worked best to pre mix it with a little bit of Water in my Blender Bottle and then add it to the heated broth or strained soup. It does have a taste, but I found it to be mild and mostly covered up by the flavor of the soup. I still add it to pancake mix, hot Cereal and casseroles to add extra Protein. After researching GENEPRO and the company that makes it, I do not feel comfortable with the product claims. There is NO scientific research backing the product, it is not approved by the FDA, I can't find an amino acid profile to know if it's a complete protein, and the other products that company puts out are "male performance enhancers" and other quack "miracle" fad products. I feel better sticking with 100% whey protein which provides all essential amino acids and is the best and most readily absorbed form of protein (with the scientific evidence to back it up). -
I was. Wondering if any of those of you who have used genepro are you still using it and do you like it? I was concerned after reading that it is not possible to get in that much protein in such a small quantity.

non-sweet protien options 8 days post op liquid phase
dolly30gs replied to AZgrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am 8 days post op and sick of sweetness. I bought genepro unflavored protein, put a half scoop in beef broth AFTER I heat it up and bam! 15gm protein for lunch and dinner. I also bought bariatric pal box of beef broth and it is sooo much more flavorful than store bought and comes with 15gm already. The chicken is nasty but I love the beef. -
Since it's a liquid diet, I was told to have a meal every couple of hours. I begin when I first wake up with a half of a Protein shake. After a couple of hours, I will have some Miso Soup. I like the organic Red miso soup from Amazon with a tablespoon of GENEPRO Protein powder. I like Genepro protein powder because it mixes in hot and cold easily. I'm not too concerned about salt since we are low carb during this time period and low carb diets require more sodium. I go back and forth between the soup and the Protein Shake, changing the type of soup if I get tired of Miso. For example, strained fat free cream Soups like Cream of chicken, mushroom...etc. Yesterday I had a little bit of stage 2 baby food (Beechnut: Just apples & kiwi), it was really good and went down smoothly. Oh, and watered down Cream of wheat is really good at this stage too. Hope this helps.

I just bought some of the Genepro two weeks ago and I love it. I've been adding it to my liquids (iced tea, crystal light, etc.) and so far it goes great with everything. That said, I'm not a doctor so can't tell you if its the right or wrong kind of protein. I honestly don't think there is a wrong kind of protein but that's me. Mixes well? check Flavorless? check small portion size? check can double up portions? check doesn't change texture of your liquid? check Not sure what else you're looking for, but it suits me just fine.

I am having trouble getting to my Protein quota set by my doctor; at least 75-85 grams per day. I have been mixing protein powder with Protein drinks just to get more in the mornings...but, boy oh boy, the calories add up. My morning routine comes to about 516 calories. That's one serving of Chobani yogurt with 1 packet of unflavored protein power and one Lean Body Protein shake with one packet of unflavored protein powder. Those three items add up to more than half of the 800 calories I've been trying to stick to as advised for these first few months. I also take a handful of Vitamins which must be worth at least 5-10 calories each. Wondering if anyone knows anything about GENEPRO Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide. It says it contains 30 grams of protein (instanized peptide whey, hydrolyzed whey, and genetic hexapeptide protein). Is this the kind of protein I want and need? One thing nice is that the serving size (one scoop) is much smaller than the packets like unjury or Jarrrow Formulas, which I have been using. Plus it's only got 15mg of sodium. But is it the "right kind" of protein???? Thanks to anyone who can whey in on this topic

I just heard about genepro for the first time the other day at a support group at my hospital. They also mentioned inspire protein powder and syntrax nectar. I need to look them all up because I desperately need to up my protein. I also heard about fairlife milk, that has a lot of protein in it. I picked up some of the fat free and it wasn't too bad. I like your idea about the unflavored protein, too.

Pre-op diet over the holidays...
rspk1963@gmail.com replied to wiresandwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go in on the 4th. I don't technically have a pre-op diet but have decided to put myself on one. So I start officially tomorrow. My thought is be prepared, high protien, lower my calories. One small lean protien & vegetable meal. No carbs unless in my protien shakes. Found Atkins protien drinks, 20g protien and they're not bad. Premier protien drinks 30g protien, also have genepro. Sugar free popsicles, jello, pudding, fudgesicles, cottage cheese, water! Trying to stay between 800-1000 calories. First night of Chanukah I'm going to have a patato latke (my only carb) and Christmas day I'm having a small piece of Prime Rib. (No red meat for a long time so I'm having my last fix, lol) I'm thinking this can only help me. So, best of luck to you...We got this! This is the start of something beautiful, the best is yet to come. Happy Holidays. -
@@mrsNilla Yes, I remember the slipping and sliding on icy streets in Norway ... especially bad in steep roads/streets going down. Had to move like a crab, sideways. Wow, GENEPRO with rum flavour .... this could be interesting @@LittleBill Hope you are wearing your thermal under-ware ..... keep warm! If I could, I would gladly send the heat to both yourself and Nilla. I am yet to install a second air-con in my West bedroom. Even with 2 fans going full blast, it is still too hot. We are having our hottest summer, and other countries are having coldest winters. Anyway, it is only a very long flight to my place, but bring the cheese-bread, and the party is on!
-
Yay! It is early in the morning here, right now, and already 2 fans are blowing. Next step, turn the air-con on .... Yes, cheese-bread with rum flavoured GENEPRO with awesome company sounds wonderful!

25, mom of 2 and sleeving soon
yerawizardamy replied to harley_quinn25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The surgery went well from what I was told and no strictures, leaks, or hernias yet! However, recovery has been very difficult. Only this past Tuesday did I start feeling better both mentally and physically. I'm having issues with puree food (make me feel like I need to lie down/sour stomach) so I've gone back to full liquids mainly (soft cheese doesn't negatively effect me). I'm going to start reintroducing some pureed food one at a time, to see what I can tolerate and what I can't. I was having trouble getting my Protein in and I just couldn't stomach the RTD Premier Protein so I ordered GENEPRO which has 30g of protein per tablespoon and is unflavored. It's been a game changer for me! Now I have no problem getting the 60g I need. I've also started to see a therapist which I think will be helpful. I was expecting to have some difficulties mentally but they really are much bigger than I anticipated. Anyway! Hope your recovery is going well!! Each day really does get better. ????
