I started with Premier Protein but then switched to Fairlife. I like both, but I prefer the Fairlife. I have also used Isopure unflavored protein powder (tried the choc & vanilla, like them too - but the unflavored is more flexible) to make protein smoothies, add protein to soups, broth, yogurt or food that needed a protein bump.

November Surgery Buddies!!!
Pete-TheTimeIsNow replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same boat. Sometimes I work really late, and around 8-9 pm, the hunger monster attacks.. :). I started having a fat free, protein yogurt, this didn't cut it. A bit later, I started adding some granola, because "I don't eat enough carbs during the day"... and it went downhill from there.. :), weight loss went down to ~1 lbs / week. Had to stop, and go back to basics. Now, when hungry, and still have some ways to go before bedtime, I eat an omelet (even if it's 9 pm). After I started doing this, weight started going down again. -
Pre op diet weight loss
summerseeker replied to KimA-GA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had an unusual pre op diet for 3 weeks. It was 40 ounces of skimmed milk, a non fat yogurt and as many non carby veg as I wanted. I lost 15lbs but oh boy was I glad when it ended. So was my husband, I had horrendous wind -
Possom gave some great ideas. I ate a lot of beans - vegetarian refried beans with some cheese melted on top were a go to food. I hated pureed meat so I stuck to dairy-based and bean-based proteins. Yogurt and cottage cheese were big staples. In the beginning I really hated anything with sugar or chocolate (which I normally loved) and honestly, all food was kind of meh and uninteresting. Bone broth is a great option for salty - regular broth is good too, but bone broth has more protein. I used to have at least a cup a day when eating was still taxing. She really needs to eat... or at least be getting her protein in some way, either via food, protein shakes, etc. It's really important at this point. Also, I found in this stage that I had to make myself eat, even if I didn't want it. As long as it didn't make me sick, I ate it. I didn't need to love it, as long as my stomach agreed and it didn't totally turn my taste buds off.

Tinned baked beans. Chew them up before you eat them. Very sloppy scrambled eggs. Yogurt. Custard. Low fat jellies (I made my own and put tasteless protein powder in). Dont let too many days pass without eating.

My liquid diet allows me 1 egg/yogurt/glass of milk a day. In addition to my 4 protein shakes and clear liquids. I have NEVER found an egg to be so delicious as I do now!! 🤣 I bow down all chickens for making such a yummy treat! 🤣😂

Egg issue and protein water/shake issue
summerseeker replied to Mrsblacksun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are foods that I still have trouble eating even at 8 months out. Salmon and Chicken being my biggest failures. I have continued trying them and I can tolerate a small amount of each so I will keep on trying them. Eggs took me quite a while for my tummy to tolerate them. In the UK we are not told to drink protein shakes as much as in the USA. I have had skimmed milk since my pre op diet and still drink a pint a day to get me to my protein goal. My new tummy is very small and I cant eat enough at each meal to get me there with out milk and another small snack a day Protein yogurts have been my saviours. Once I found one I like - Aldi is my go to. I can now make my protein goals almost every day. If I am short I have more protein yogurt in the evening. -
I hear everyone who is fed-up with the protein shakes! I bought a 12 pack of the ‘liquid drink variety—Protein20, or Something like that because I just couldn’t tolerate the taste of the shakes constantly. These aren’t that much better because they’re kind of sickeningly sweet but the strawberry flavor is passable if I drink one every few days. They have 20 g of protein each. last night I had cream of broccoli soup, but I didn’t know how much to have because it wasn’t indicated in my program manual. So I slowly ate 4 ounces and it didn’t seem to bother me. Does that sound about right? I did pour a small Amount of the UNJury chicken broth protein powder in it and it didn’t Ruin the taste, thankfully. Question: Has anyone used the plain protein powders by adding them to soups or yogurt or pudding, etc, in order to maintain protein levels for each day? If so, which brand? I will do anything not to have to drink the shakes twice a day. Thank you.

According to my dietitian, im already starting week 2. Which im allowed to have sugar free pudding, low fat yogurt, and fat free milk. And also campbells soup! i can’t wait for next week, im badly craving a tuna sandwich! 😅 How many month/ years are you in post op? -
Am I doing this right am I broken?
It'sAlbright replied to It'sAlbright's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The potatoes are a must almost every day lol. The only things that currently do not cause my stomach to hurt or nausea are tuna, greek yogurt, cottage cheese and hummus. I have tried many things and can only still manage soft foods. -
2nd Day Post Op
SkinnyMingo1408 replied to Clea123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got really intense headaches in the morning when I woke up and at night. Felt like spikes being driven into my head. I found getting all my liquid in helped. Really pushing fluids. Also got better when I started eating full liquid and could have yogurt and such. I had surgery June 7th. -
I had my two week Post Op appointment this morning. I am right where I am supposed to be. I've lost 18 lbs since Pre-Op diet, wounds are healing nicely and I have advanced to pureed food! I put Amy's Organic Black Bean and Vegetable soup in a Magic Blender and had about 1/3 of it. Delicious after the liquid diet. My husband and I are leaving first thing in the morning to drive from CA to NY (a family cottage)...three days. We used to stop at fast food places but now it will be rest stops since I am bringing my own food...greek yogurt, cottage cheese, shakes and the leftover bean soup. Even my husband is bringing his own food. Since I have not told anyone about my surgery, it was my plan to have the surgery, get clearance to go to NY and by the time I return I will be on regular food (just smaller portions). It will be easier in those social situations back in CA. I am glad everyone is doing well.

Eating/Drinking on a Road Trip: 4-5 Weeks Post-Op
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to KevinS62's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Gas station finds- Cottage cheese, yogurt, protein shakes, cheese cubes, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter or nut butters, and maybe pecans chewed really well (they’re a softer nut to tolerate). Travel plazas compared to regular gas stations will have more options to choose from. Taco Bell/taco places- refried beans with cheese or maybe taco meat Panera or Subway- scoop of tuna salad. Panera also has yogurt tubes, bananas, oatmeal, and smoothies (although high in sugar) KFC- chicken pot pie (remove the crust and either really chew or don’t eat the chicken McDonald’s- during breakfast you can get just scrambled eggs. They also have sausage patties you can order individually as well but that might need more time. Wendy’s- chili might be okay Tropical smoothie cafe- they have wraps and stuff for everyone else to choose from but you can get protein powder in a smoothie there and reduce or omit sugar in them as well. Sit down places- baked fish, some soups, and maybe spinach dip without the chips would be ok choices I’d think. If you go Italian you could order lasagna and just not eat the noodles. As always, try things before you go if possible because unexpected dumping on a road trip isn’t fun. -
September surgery buddies!!
Slwhurst replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work 10 hour days so I ordered some 5 ounce reusable bottles to be able to prepare my meals for the days after surgery while still doing liquid. I have also started trying to get used to sugar free yogurt. So far chobani zero greek yogurt is a doable option. Don’t forget you are allowed sugar free popsicles as well! -

I just started ordering things to get ready and to kind of spread out the purchases since I still have a month before I start the liquid diet. Anyone else buying stuff yet and what are you getting? I bought myself a pill dispenser that has up to 4 options daily since I'll be taking the ProCare chewables for one month and then the capsules. I have to have 2 calcium chews a day with that and my thyroid meds too. I bought only a month worth of the chewables and a 3 month supply of the capsules. I tried 2 different protien drinks and I like the premier over the ensure that the Drs office gave me. So I have a few flavors of that. I don't want to drink them before I need them but I hope I like them when I do have to drink them. Its weird to me that jello, pudding and yogurt are allowed on a liquid diet, but I'm not going to argue since I think I'll probably appreciate the thickness over broth. I'm a planner as you can tell and I just want to be prepared but not too much or it might even spoil beforeI get to use it. Anything else you guys are doing to get ready? -
Eating/Drinking on a Road Trip: 4-5 Weeks Post-Op
Sleeve_Me_Alone replied to KevinS62's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For restaurants, soup is pretty much always a safe choice early on. You could also do something like a meat loaf and just chew the tar out of it, chicken breast, similarly chewed to oblivion, or maybe something like tacos that you just eat the meat/beans and toppings of. For snacks - cheese, protein shakes or bars, soft fruit, yogurt, and eggs are all good bets. As always, just be very careful. I had a similarly restrictive post-op plan and stuck to it fairly closely, but did make the occasional concession when needed. -
Eating/Drinking on a Road Trip: 4-5 Weeks Post-Op

Hmmmm, brain storm time. No meat for 6 weeks? Never heard that one before. Whew. Snacks: Yogurts, cheeses, hard boil eggs? That's about the only thing I can think of that would travel. You could order soups and not eat certain things depending on what is in the soup? Charcuterie appetizer and your family could eat the things that you can't? Egg salad, don't eat the bread? Or get crackers if you are allowed. I ate taco bell refried beans and black beans a few times. That's about all I can think of, I was allowed meat at the pureed stage (pureed obviously). It is also so close to allowing the meat, maybe reach out to your team and see if you could try softer meats a few days early? That would REALLY open up your options. PS: I don't care for the quest chips but a lot of people do so I hope you are one of them who like them after taking that plunge. I like the popcorners flex protein chips the best. Good luck and safe travels! -
No weight loss

I am 4 weeks post-op and now that I've started incorporating soft foods (apple sauce, yogurt, pudding, eggs) I've stopped losing weight. I seem to only be able to lose on a full liquid diet. It's frustrating because I need to progress to real food. Not sure what to do??!?!?! -
Milk and Yogurt pre op diet
LookingForward22 replied to fed-up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 different “menus” to choose from pre-op, that is one that’s offered. I have a milk intolerance - I’m ok with a little, but to much upsets my stomach/digestive process… so I’m doing one of the other options they offer (3 fairlife shakes a day, 72 oz of no sugar added juice + 64 or more ounces of water or approved liquids). We can either pick one of the 4 “menu” options each day (if you want to change it up) or stick with one option for 7 days. Then on the 8th day switch over to all clear liquids. The nutritionist did say if we find ourselves struggling, since there’s no “food” outside of the yogurt (if you pick the milk and yogurt option) to call and they will modify the plan so we can safely fulfill the pre-surgical requirements and stay on track for surgery. Knowing there is a safety net if I need it makes me feel a little better, but I’m thinking I can make it through 8 days. -

Milk and Yogurt pre op diet

GOOD LUCK! Sounds gross. I don't think I could do it. I love milk but couldn't handle the yogurt. I want to like it but just can't. -
Hi , am following the milk and yogurt liver shrinkage diet .It's 8-10 no fat diet yogurts (60 cals each ) and 1 pint of semi skimmed milk shakes .Has anyone else done this or is doing it now ? thanks x
-
Wow! 8 lbs! I’ve actually gained 2 lbs 🙄 and I’m not sure why considering I’m following instructions for my pre-op! Very frustrating! Maybe my body is just fighting to hold on to weight since I feel like I’m starving. I still hate drinking Protein Shakes and eating yogurt since I don’t know how I’m supposed to lose weight doing that. 🤷🏼♀️ If they would just let me eat natural, non-processed, non-artificially sweetened Proteins like egg whites, chicken, ham, etc.. then I know my weight would begin to drop some. Maybe I’ll just call my dietitian on Monday….

You got this!!!! UGH I wish I can have yogurt during my pre-op diet. You guys will finish strong. -
Kudos to you for sticking with your pre-op diet! I understand how difficult it is to stay strong and I feel the same way you do about wanting to eat something different. I’m so sick of protein shakes and yogurt I could cry! And I have one week to go. We can do this!!!😁
