I think my scale is broken
kimbernada replied to slatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great!! I hit a three week stall that started week 3. It's a very normal feeling to be anxious regarding the surgery and weight loss. ("Am I a failure?" "What if this is it?") The weight will come off! -
I am in the three week stall for two weeks now. I understand the frustration but what can we do. I am not eating too much and I am haveing out put if you know what I mean. I started today with the suggestion to eat every three hours to help the metabolism. Making sure I am getting my fluids and staying active. So like you I can only sit mad cause I went through all this and nothing is working! Date of surgery 277 2 week check up 257 Today 260 Very hard not to feel like it is not going to happen for me.

Started puree one week ago up one pound!
iggychic replied to Kapoorvilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But kids...no boot camp this early. Thats for folks out some months. In a quick nutshell, because I'm heading to the ballet with a hot date (my 7 year old LOL) Remember that diet you did to shrink your liver? Your liver shrank..and then you traumitazed your body with surgery and it went all gaddly goop. Then you started feeding it Clear Liquids and maybe even solid liquis or puree's but not your normal routine. At three weeks your body says....wooooo baby, what the hell is going on? It then sends fluids to the liver to fill it back up again, and tries to find balance. This is the "three week stall" which is common to 99% of patients. No need to panic Keep the course and you'll see a drop next week. -
Week 3 & GAINING! Totally Freaking Out! Please Help...
Threetimesacharm replied to deedeemuffin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take your vitamins and KEEP weighing. It is very good to know where you are at in case you need to adjust your routine(Like in this case). Keep drinking your water and the weight will move. During my three week stall I gained 3 pounds and thought WTF!! I now stick to 600-700 calories and low carb, woohoo!! Keep going, no worries, you can do this!! -
Search three week stall here. You will see its very common. Also on those posts people have listed what they tried and what worked to break the dreaded three week stall. Congrats on 30 lbs down!! Over a lb a day!!!

Lost only 26 lbs in 47 days post op ? from 375 to 349, is it normal ?
kimbernada replied to indian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What suzthebrit said. Just about everyone's experience is normal. I had a three week stall that started at week three. Just keep following your doctor's food plan and the weight WILL come off. I know that, for me, it was hard to comprehend just how "easy" losing weight this way really is. Easy? Well, once you know what you can eat, it really isn't hard - at least compared to dieting alone. -
I just came out of a three week stall and suddenly dropped 7 lb. in a little over a week. We have to remember that stalls are necessary. They serve a purpose other than simply annoying us. The body can't adjust to the weight loss as quickly as the scale drops. It needs the stalls to 'catch up' physically. This is the time your body is reshaping. Use the measuring tape instead of the scale and you will see the changes happening there. Accept this as a good thing and know that when its ready, it will start to drop again on the scale.

Thanks Shelly, I didn't know about the three week stall. But I will watch for it, for me I know it going to be a long hall. right now I just worried if/when I will return to feeling some what normal, with the nauseous and fatigue

Slow Weight Loss
jencys replied to pedsnurse120304's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be patient with your body and yourself. Everyone that I have talked to had a three week stall for 1-2 weeks. You are losing inches but not pounds during this time. So stay off the scale and just pay attention to how your clothes are fitting looser. Also make sure you are drinking water, your body tends to hold onto everything it can right now because its in starvation mode. It will keep coming off just hang in there -
Christmas Day Challenge!
Fallenangel2904 replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I already signed up for the New Years challenge but why not Christmas too lol. I'm 1 week out of surgery so I know now is the time you lose big so I may surpass this who knows. Or I may not once I hit the three week stall. Lets see! HW 379 SW 359 CW 339 Challenge Goal 319 20 lbs! Fingers crossed! -
Hi everyone..yes we passed our onw month mark. I have been enjoying following this thread because we are all in the same place time-wise. I have lost weight and inches about 32 lbs since surgery, had a three week stall but finally got things moving again. I have had two awful experiences with slimeing and nausea and then vomiting, I vomited for 6 hours and was terrified. Of course it was the weekend and there was no blood so I tried to ride it out and keep calm. The cause was cooked cauliflower, I boiled it forever but ate a full cup of it and ate it fast and it stuck and I stayed up until 3am pacing and freaking out. Today is a new day and the cauliflower has gone away. The problem is that I want t be eating real flood and all I can do is puree shakes and soup. Oh well. I have to realize that this is all such a change for me. I am 66 years old and am a food critic. Obviously I had to take a break from work for 6 months. I go from loving the sleeve to hating it...an emotional roller coaster. I have opted out of Thanksgiving this year, too stressful.

1 Month Out Calorie Ranges?
iggychic replied to earth2terra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been at 600 since surgery, though early on that was a challenge. Now I average around there, sometimes less, sometimes more, but instead of focusing on the calories I actually just focus on getting in my 60g protein. As soon as I started doing that I broke a three week stall and have dropped over 8lbs in a week. Eating more, and drinking wine Who'da thunk LOL -
I am one month out yesterday and down 22 lbs post op and 45 total . Right now I'm averaging between 400-500 cal a day but I'm wondering if this should be higher. I'm getting in all my water and about 60 g of protein. I know every docs recommendations are different but I'm wondering what is working for each individual. My loss has slowed ALOT the last couple weeks and I realize thus is the dreaded three week stall but I want to be sure I'm not putting myself in mode

Weight Gain Since Starting Purée Meals...what Am I Doing Wrong?
4ALongerLife replied to shamrockjulie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three weeks is a milestone where almost every single WLS candidate goes through a stall. I think other ones occur, but not sure that they are as predictable as the three week stall is. Sweetie, you have lost 18 lbs. in nineteen days. Please tell me, how much should you have lost? What is an amount in those nineteen days since your surgery that you would be "happy" with? More food for thought: You can't rush perfection. If you do, you'll have severe skin left over anyways from it, so avoid that if you can! Anyways, it took you years to put it on, how long do you think it's gonna take to get it off? Slap me if you must, but... think about what I said pls. Oh and btw, you will have an influx of emotions in this journey whenever you lose quickly. Your body is making hormones for you at your largest and doesn't quite 'catch up' with the amount you lose so quickly. It takes time to recalculate. So best thing I can tell you is this ... be patient as you can... work the program (i.e. dr's orders - Protein, Water, exercise, regular BM schedule, sleep as well as logging your food) .... and best of luck to you, always. xx -
