Wow- 5, yes 5 NSV's in one day!

Thank you so much for this post! I didn't know the term NSV and had to Google it. Congratulations! I know all about sitting in a chair and fitting (hello, economy airline seats). My hotel robe fit for the first time last month and I left a shirt or a pair of pants in every hotel in the last 8 weeks. Since I've been overseas I would "optimistically" pack the next size down on each trip so that I didn't have to worry about my pants falling off at work. I didn't think about my gym clothes though. Good thing those suckers have a draw string!

As long as you are sticking to lean proteins first, drinking your fluids, and some moving uou will continue t lose. But I am sure you guys have some NSVs. And I am sure have some inches off too.

    November Bandsters!

Just stopping by to say hello. I'm finding this banding experience interesting. Of course, I'm still on liquids (full) and not experiencing the hunger that you are. Also, because of my weight - I'm in the 300's - and age, I know that I'll probably lose a lot up front, before it starts to taper down some. I just wanted to say that you are all doing very good! I'm glad that you are sharing the good and the bad. It helps. Oh, and I wanted to talk about plateaus. I just attended a health living workshop yesterday. One of the presenters (the RN) had the bypass several years ago. One important thing she mentioned was that plateaus are natural. They are our bodies way of adjusting to all of the changes that are taking place. She said that when you are plateauing the worst thing you could do, is to drop your eating below what is healthy (that's if you were eating the correct amount to begin with). Because you can inadvertently end up prolonging your plateau that way. Her suggestion was to try something different. Switch up your exercise plan...take it the next level...alternate the foods that you were eating. She also suggested that you look for alternative changes in your body (the NSV's...nonscale victories...that we've discussed) to get you through this period. Finally, if your plateau is lasting for longer then, I think it's 3 weeks, AND you've tried some of the above steps, you should consult your surgeon/nutritionist for direction. Almost forgot...I've lost 10 lbs!

I hid my scale this week to concentrate on some NSV's. It is time to give up some tops, the neckline drops below my bra at not the best of times☺️

Ok here is one more as some people o posted about plane rides and the small seats and seat belt extenders , well guess what I didn't need one either so happy for all of us as you can really see how much more length I had not a great pic, as I was slouching so my clothes are all bunched up , but you get the of this nsv . Oh and my face is getting smaller, as you can see I didn't and people were telling me they could se it in my face so it was time to take a pic and try and see it for my self, even though my eyes and mind still play that mind game of me being the big heavy , unhealthy me.
  7. Had a nice NSV this morning, went horseback riding in the snowstorm, I'm almost 3 weeks postop, and I have 5 horses. So getting more fit as a rider, was a huge push for me to get the LAP Band. Had a nice half hour ride out in the snow, walk and trot, on my little elderly Arabian mare. She is small, pony sized, and I sometimes felt self conscious riding her, as I felt that I was "out of proportion" to ride such a petite horse. I'm down about 17 lbs, eating normal soft foods, no vomiting or real complications now. So YAY for horseback riding in the snow! I had no discomfort mounting, dismounting, tacking up, walking and trotting. I'm back to being me
  8. WOW Vicky! What great NSV's! I also love the increased stamina that i have and my knee and foot pains are gone! I think what you are describing weight loss wise makes sense. Your body must need to adjust for each decade lost. I know it is common to have weight loss stall out at weights we weighed for a long time in the past, a set point I think it's called. Yeah for you! Joan, your sista, lol
  9. I did not feel like making a new thread, so I am just gonna post my NSV in here. I went shopping today for stuff for my trip and I went to Fashion Bug and go a nice pair of jeans that were size 22. Then I went to Old Navy wanting to check out their jeans, I was disappointed to see they only carried up to size 20. I was like what the heck, let me see, they probably won't fit. I picked up 2 different styles, the first one I tried on fit. I was like yay holy crap, they fit. The second style, buttoned, but felt really uncomfortable, so I did not get that one. But I was so happy I now can fit into Old Navy. It made my day, and even though I did not find what I went out looking for, which was a pair of capris, since I am going to the Bahamas, I had a good day. Oh well, hopefully it won't be super hot there and I can get away in jeans, without dying of heat.
  10. I've been on a business trip since Monday and this trip has been full of NSVs. First, I didn't have to use a seatbelt extender for the first time in years. Then today when we went out to lunch we walked 4 blocks each way to and from the restaurant. And again for dinner we walked 3 blocks each way to the restaurant. None of these things would have happened 3 months ago...I wouldn't have been able to walk that far. Even more than the 41 lbs I have lost, these things really show me how far I've come!

I'm posting early again because we're leaving for Vegas tomorrow and I won't have access to scales on Monday. 1/4/06 Weight = 236 NSV: I bought a size 18/20 belt to hold up my too loose size 22 pants. 1/9/06 Weight = 234 (-2) NSV: I was able to fit into a misses size 20 pants at Old Navy. 1/16/06 Weight = 229 (-5) NSV(s): 1) My mother-in-law came to visit this past weekend and called me a "skinny minnie!" 2) I can now fit comfortably (with room to spare) in those plastic, stackable patio chairs. 1/23/06 Weight = 228 (-1) NSV: I FINALLY had to break down and buy new size 20 clothing because I was tired of my old clothes falling off of me. 1/30/06 Weight = 226 (-2) NSV: I had to move the seat in my vehicle closer to the steering wheel because my butt isn't so big anymore. 2/6/06 Weight = 221 (-5) NSV(s): 1) Our female bowling league partner told me this past Tuesday that I had a nice butt. P.S. She wasn't hitting on me. LOL 2) I fit into and purchased a pair of size 18 shorts. I assume checkins will be Mondays as in previous challenges? I'll check in tonight since I weighed in this morning and don't know if I'll have a chance to be on tomorrow. Start: 240 Now: 236 NSV for the week: I got off my butt and exercised 2x last week. As I had stopped exercising over the holidays, it's great for me to get moving again. My other NSV unrelated to banding: I made great progress on my decluttering goals AND on one of my goals at work. :banana

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

I'm up, I walked and sweated and even did 10 reps with my barbells (7 days post band removal, gotta start somewhere.) My NSV for today is that I'm sitting here at my computer with my legs corssed! Before my band, I'd have been sprawled out like a cow waiting to be milked, that's only if cows sprawl (city girl here.) I'm off to a 400 calorie Breakfast of mush now. Good luck to everyone, you may need it because I'm feeling mighty serious right now!

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

Hi, 244 down from 256 makes 8 pounds lost, as of the end of the Sundance Film Festival! and an amazing NSV - After starting out in men's size 46 jeans, now I fit comfy in size 38's; a little tight in 36's; and I bought a pair of 34's so I could stare at them until the time I fit into them comfortably. Once that happens, I figure I should start thinking about stopping losing weight. Tonight, I tried on the 34's just to see if I could even pull them over my legs. They snapped closed and zipped up! ... My wife said "you're getting too skinny. Once you fit comfortably in those 34's, you are DONE losing weight!" :whoo: Yee haw!
