I REALLY hate PCOS...I feel defeated...

So I spoke with my PCP and I have an appointment to come in next week because some new and fun things are going on. So I'm noticing pain in my lower abdomen. Happens mostly when I go #2 and I didn't think much of it. Then it started happening at other times, and it would get so bad I couldn't take a full breath. And even the lightest touch on my abdomen would have me in tears. Can last anywhere from 5 minutes to almost an hour, then just goes away. Having nausea when I eat, and sometimes when I don't. She doesn't like the sound of that, so I need to see her and they can do an ultrasound in her office and refer me to yet another specialist if needed. I still have no restriction at all whatsoever, which surprised her. But we're still waiting on the results of my scope, and now this. She said the rapid weight gain and the pain and nausea could be related and she wants to get to the bottom of it.
  2. 5 weeks post op and a few situations where vomiting would have helped, feeling miserable for a good 1/2-2 hours, salivating and really nauseous but unable to produce anything other than foam and mucous fluids. Anyone else with the same problem and if so, is this going to last forever? Sent from my AC2003 using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Is anyone else having trouble sleeping. I am almost 3 weeks out and my sleep is horrible. I never had insomnia before.
  4. that's about where I was at seven weeks out. Sounds like you're doing fine!

    Medications

I was allowed to swallow anything smaller than a pencil eraser right after leaving the hospital - which for me meant all but two pills. One was calcium tablets, so I just got chewables. Can't remember what the other one was (it's been over seven years), but the PA at my bariatric clinic said it would be OK to wait for a couple of weeks to start taking those - and by that time, I should be able to swallow them. He was right.
  6. I chose my goal weight because I thought back to when I was last happy about my size. That was when I was 12 or 13 and was a size 16. I was in the 180 pounds range at the time so that became my goal weight. The funny thing is... I reached that weight and wear a size 12 in jeans and medium in tops (still do, even with some weight gained back) so despite being the same height and weight as I was back then... I'm smaller. It was a happy surprise. And also, I guess I was right on the money to choose the goal that I did because as soon as I hit 175, my body was like 'okay, maintenance now' and I didn't lose a single pound more. I have gained some weight back though due to meds and I suppose partially due to my being almost 3 years post op, but I'm working on trying to lose at LEAST another 5 pounds of what I gained back (I'm 188 pounds according to when I weighed myself about two hours ago).

How often do you guys weigh yourselves?

I do every morning after morning pee in my underwear. I log in my computer . I like the fact I can see progress and if do not loose any then I try to do a bit more walking and do not over think it. I do know there will be times when I will stall and then drop again. Think long term and not short term. From 265.5 lbs two week before surgery and 250 day of surgery and today I'm at 242.8 lbs. 11 days after. I'm happy where I am and will continue to travel down my weight loss journey....

    October 2022 surgery support

I'm a day behind you, surgery on the 4th and started liquids diet the 20th. Sounds like we have a lot in common, started the process late August of last year, its been a journey for sure. I don't think the one little slip up will hurt your progress any. The nerves are really starting to get to me too, even my anxiety meds aren't even helping anymore. I'm having an issue getting my pain management dr and surgeon to communicate so that's added to the stress, the pain management dr wants me to stay on what I'm on then the team can add to it accordingly after but surgeon wants me off of it and didn't tell me till less than 2 weeks before which isnt enough time to taper off so im definitely losing some sleep over it, unless I either disobey the surgeon and stay on it and avoid being in withdrawal or follow the pain management drs orders and stay on them and let them add on. If neither respond to me and let me know what they decided I'm going to have to make a decision to stop taking them tomorrow and deal with the withdrawal till surgery day or stay on, message the surgeon and tell him I've decided to keep taking it and pray he doesn't cancel my surgery. I never imagined this whole process would be so stressful

    Severe complications

Hi! First time poster here. It's a bit long but I really need help. I had gastric sleeve on 6/22 in Mexico. It went well, passed my leak tests and left feeling good. A week after I got home, I had severe pain and went to the ED where they discovered a leak. They did surgery that night but were unable to reach the leak as it was "too high on my esophagus. " they also discovered 2 abscesses that were between my stomach and spleen. They were unable to remove the abscesses due their location. I spent 28 days on a feeding tube in the hospital. The plan was to wait for the leak to encapsulate/close which it eventually did. I came home on long term antibiotics and 4 days later I ws in severe pain again so back to the ED where I was diagnosed with a complete bowel obstruction. I had a my 3rd surgery in 3 months that night. Went home and a month later (2 weeks ago) I had pain so bad in my left lower side that made breathing/coughing/vomiting extremely painful. Back to the ED where I found out the abscesses had infected my spleen and it is now half dead/ dying. It will be removed but the surgery team is holding off due to the inflammation and scar tissue in my abdomen. I was discharged a week later with a PICC line and I receive IV antibiotics at the hospital daily. My question is has anyone heard of this many/similar complications? I'm considering getting a second opinion at a different hospital but I don't even know where to start! Thanks for reading.

    September surgery buddies!!

I'm 24 days post op and on my best day I'm still getting maybe 54oz of liquids. I think it took me 2 weeks to get to 40oz. I didn't have to get fluids, but I do use electrolyte powder a lot to prevent dehydration.
  11. I was fortunate. Liquid for a week, pureed for five days, today started soft foods (although I started it yesterday). I am sick today though. I don't think it is surgery related but not sure.

    September surgery buddies!!

3 weeks! Which made me kind of crazy by the end. I was so excited when I got to pureed this week but it already feels so tedious to me now lol. Before surgery, I'd to put away all distractions while I ate (intuitive eating strategies) and but now I have to play a puzzle game on my tablet while I eat because otherwise I'm staring at my timer like a crazy person, trying to take 30 mins to eat. Now I just take a bite every level. Liquids were so much easier compared now lol.

Also, how long did everyone have to stay on liquids post op? I have to for 2 weeks before I can move to purees.

    August 24!

Very encouraging update, after a lot of tingling I am able to feel pressure on my lower arm again. It’s kind of muted but it’s there. The improvement has given me a lot of hope. Still can’t feel like a pen being dragged lightly on the surface but any improvement is so encouraging. I’ll be six weeks next Wednesday. My surgeon said I can be released fully at that time. I tried a light jog for literally one minute yesterday and wow my stomach was not appreciating that. It just mostly felt really stiff. I didn’t have muscle repair so likely the incision up the middle isn’t happy with the jostling. I can now do climbs on the spin bike so that’s nice…released from the drudgery of low impact classes.

October 11th for me. Started my two-week liquid diet on Tuesday. I'm so excited . . . but also nervous.
  18. 27 pounds at 7 weeks seems good to me. Congratulations. I just had the sleeve but from what I understand the process is very similar for a revision and Stalls are pretty common. The first one USUALLY being right around the third week. Sounds like your is just arriving a little late. They can last a short while and the best thing to do is to stay the course but stay away from the scale. It will start moving again soon. Hang in there.
  19. Hello, My name is Desire’e and I am new to the group. Just needing a little advice and hopefully a sense of encouragement. I am 7 weeks out from my revision surgery from gastric sleeve to gastric bypass. I have only lost 27 lbs so far, and I have followed the rules to the T!! Anyone else gone through this after a revision?
  20. Hello. I can relate! I am a little frustrated because I am in week 7 after having a revision from the sleeve to gastric bypass The scale has not moved in a week and a half solid!!! I’m not cheating, I am going by ALL the rules!!!

    4 weeks down!

Hi! Just a little update 4 weeks after my RNY. I'm 43, have lupus and gained a lot of weight after 3 years of steroids. The extra weight adds more complications to my disease and I have really struggled to lose it on my own. I was 309 before surgery, 295 day of and currently at 278. I'm 5'8" and have always been a bigger woman with my lowest weight at 215. But at that weight I was very active, fit and healthy... until I got sick. This has not been an easy process for me and I was really losing my mind at the 3 week mark. But after week 4, I'm finally feeling a little more energy and a little more human. Some things I didn't really expect: I've become lactose intolerant. I sometimes get sick (nausea and crampy) after just sipping water. And I use the restroom much more frequently than I did before, which makes me a little nervous to socialize and even more nervous to travel. I hope this gets better! Other than that, I'm learning that slow progress is still progress! And I've already discontinued 2 of my lupus related meds, so I know I made the right choice! If anyone is having a hard time, I hope this helps.. it WILL get better!
  22. My preop is 5 optifast shakes, and one meal with 2 cups of raw veggies/1 cup cooked veggies, 3-4 ounces of lean meat, one teaspoon of a fat servicing (like a lite ranch or low fat mayo), and one fruit serving, around the size of a baseball/1/2 cup of unsweetened sugar free applesauce there is no way you could eat that much food if youre post op though... you could do the shakes, but be careful with picking them my surgeons office does not recommend premier... here is a link to one of the best surgeons in mexico, and their preop diet https://www.pompeiisurgical.com/download.php

Monday is getting closer and closer. If anyone else has a 10/3 date (I know I have saw a few) send me a message and we can check on each other I am most looking forward to not going so crazy over how often my work brings food in. The last day of the month, they always bring in food to celebrate in end of month (we do loans). and last friday they did a potluck. yesterday my manager brought donuts, you get the idea...

    How fast?

I was wondering this too. I'm a little over 4 weeks post-op and I've actually gained 1 lb this week! I'm trying not to get hung up on the number and just go with how I'm feeling, but I was a little discouraged when I've been doing everything right. However, I am a woman and I am pretty close to my monthly visitor, so I'm guessing that is probably why. I hope anyway lol.
  25. I just think my second stall ended but mine are the same. I gained 1-2 lbs and then stayed there for about 2 weeks and then this week I have lost 5 lbs so far (since Monday, 1lb per day) I usually only weigh myself on Monday's but this week did mid week to see if I was out of my stall. 6 month follow up today and I am still a bit ahead of my weight loss chart the surgeon gave me. My chart says I should loose aprox. 97 lbs in 6 months and as of this morning I have lost 106 lbs in those 6 months!
