  1. At 4 weeks out I was eating probably 200 calories a day. I am 10+ months and hitting 700 calories now.

Meant to veg around the house all day and binge watch "Jane the Virgin" on Netflix, but ended up running around doing errands and didn't eat much...oopsies. 6. 5'2", ♀️10m PO, maintaining 115.8 lbs It's been a couple days since I've posted any menus as I was on a last minute shopping road trip over the weekend (this was the first shopping road trip I've been on since losing all the weight and I may have gone a little overboard..LOL). 7. Hi Johnny, we're here to help. I was sleeved in Feb. 2018, then revised to RnY in Oct. 2018 due to reflux. I think it was worth it. 1. How long did you take off work? I'm told 2 weeks. I usually work from home at a computer. Was there much pain? I took 2 weeks to return to a desk job. Pretty much the same as the sleeve and similar pain level. 2. How long before you could work out again? I had other complications that skewed this one, so I won't comment. 3. Did you lose more weight than you wanted? No, I still had about 20# to goal and it took me 4-5 months to get there. 4. Did it resolve your acid reflux (if that was the reason)? Absolutely and immediately. 5. Were you able to enjoy good food at special meals (holidays, etc.) with RNY? I'm terrified of losing ability to have a nice meal with family. What does a normal meal capacity look like at a year out? I have less restriction with my RnY than I did with the sleeve. I am eating 1-2 cup meals now (10 months out). 6. Are bowel movements normal at some point? No problems, in general. 7. Could you drink alcohol again? I'm fine going months without but at some point would like to enjoy a glass of champagne again. I can't right now as carbonation is brutal. I enjoy the occasional 1-2 glasses of wine. I can't handle carbonation, though.

    OOTD

Yes I’m finding that I’m either holding onto things still that are waaaay too big, or I’m completely avoiding items that are flowy bc I’ve associated “flowy” with “hiding fat” for too long. I bet eventually I get more comfy with different styles Today I went to clothes mentor and bought several things. I’m running late for Pilates, but here is a quick snapshot of some new jeans and a top I got. The jeans are a size 10 from old navy and I’m floored they fit. I think they’re a bit snug, but that could be DM. The top is from Talbots and it’s a size medium. Also a bit snug, but I’m currently buying for fall and a bit snug is fine since I plan on losing at least 15 more pounds
  10. I'm looking for everyone scheduled to have their wls next month. Getting a little nervous? Well I am! I'm scheduled for 10/1 with Dr. Illan at Bariatric Pal Hospital in Mexico. The time is really flying by now. I'm looking for other October surgery folks out there. I know you're there.....where are you?

    💜 SEP 2019 CHALLENGE 💜

Side questions: I don’t totally hate exercise. For example my I LOVE Pilates classes, but HATE going to the gym. I have a nice treadmill at home that I bought over 3 years ago when I was struggling yet again to find an exercise groove and I walk/run/incline train on it 1-2 times weekly. I need to get in a better pattern of being consistent with that TM 2. I’ve always been a big water drinker, but I have noticed an improvement in my skin in spite of the fact that my jowels are more pronounced and is obvious I’m going to need some kind of facelift to avoid looking 5-10 years older than I am. I was the lady that would get acne breakouts in her late 40’s and I’ve only had 1-2 breakouts since surgery so there’s a vast improvement there. Of course it could also be bc I’m truly post-menopausal now so who knows if it’s the water or not. 🤷‍♀️
  12. I have had the lap band for 10 years now and it wasn't until the last 3 years I started having issues with it. Now I am back over 240 and my doctor had to remove fluid because of my heartburn/gerd. I ended up with ulcers on my esophagus that are now cleared up. I have gotten almost all my clearances done in about 2 months and wondering if anyone has had UHC approve that quickly? My doctor is submitting to insurance this week. Everything I am reading says 6 months but its also all for initially getting one of the surgeries done not the revision.

    💜 SEP 2019 CHALLENGE 💜

Hi I'm home! So, here's my first post of the month: 1. Posting your personal goal - Onederland! 2. Add your surgery type, status (pre/post op, losing/maintenance) - Gastric Sleeve 3. Weight and BMI (not necessary but encouraged) - 206 this morning 4. Choose between the easy or advance squat routine - advance 5. Tell us your favorite flaw - I can't think....hmmm, throwing my dirty clothes on the laundry room floor? I keep the room gated because the cats' food and litter box are in there so I have to step over the gate (they have a hatch) when I need to go in the room. So, I will toss my laundry in there until I go in when I do pick them up and put them in the washer until I'm ready to start a load. Day 1: Well, I did happen to do 10 squats that day. I also went hiking and I did stop and sit on a rock and meditate and breathe. Day 2: Travel all day...but spent time with family that I hadn't seen in 8 years over the weekend so I'll count that as my friends catching up. Day 3: Just did 50 squats (day 2 & 3 combined). I just texted a couple of my friends to see if we want to meet up this weekend. I think I'm caught up. I have to say, somewhere between last Thursday and this morning I dropped 3 more lbs which put me in a much better place to make my onederland goal this month so I'm very excited about that! Oh, whoops...B-sides. Love exercise - it makes me feel good. I enjoy feeling my muscles work and stretch. I don't know about the complexion but some folks have said I look a lot younger.

    Hungry after gastric sleeve?

I had my surgery on 2/27/19. After the surgery I was hungry but when I smell food I got nausea. Now I am having a hard time finding food to eat. I am so tired of the chicken and I don't eat beef or pork. I use to get hungry and even heard the noise in the stomach but trust it goes away. I am not fully on solids as my stomach won't take it but the weight is coming off and I am loving the new me and so will you.

    Shy of announcing this, but...

My goal is 150 and I don't recall weighing 150 at any time in my life. I am 67. I wore a size 20 when I got married the 1st time at age 19. It will be mind blowing to get there. You are getting close!
  18. Post-Vacation Status Update:  Back to work now that my vacation is over.  Somehow, I managed to not gain any weight over the last 14 days that I've been doing the all-inclusive thing on vacation.  I drank plenty and I skipped my protein shake regiment as well due to a lack of easy to attain shakes in the Caribbean.  The good thing is that about 10 out of the 14 days I did my elliptical workout in their fitness center.  I did still manage to avoid complex carbs, just had a bunch of simple ones in the "drinks of the day" cocktails.  I think this can count as a "proud" moment.  I truly thought i was going to gain weight after coming back.  I didn't weigh myself until this morning.

    are these.. baby clothes?

Yes, I feel that way every time I shop. I thought if I made it to a single digit size it would be amazing. I figured an 8 would be my final size. When I hit that size, but wasn't to goal yet, I wasn't sure where I'd end up. Currently, I'm a petite small tops and 4P pants. Even though it's a lot more fun to shop these days, I'm trying not to go overboard because I feel like I may go down one more size when I decide to have plastics. I've bought some pants at Sam's Club and Costco because they have nice stuff and it's cheap! I won't feel so bad giving away $10 yoga pants or $15 jeans if they no longer fit. I wear scrubs at work and have gone from an XLP to XSP and probably could go to XXSP but I have reached the point where I refuse to buy any more because I hope to retire in 3 yrs and who really cares if they are just a little too big! Maybe I'll change my mind when all is said and done! I did "treat" myself to a Lily Pulitzer dress that cost $138 for reaching goal. I haven't spent that much for anything while in the weight loss phase! I was in the store, loved it, and felt a sense of pride when I had to ask the clerk if they had a small in stock. For once I didn't get that "that's never gonna fit you look!"

    Meds After Surgery

Surgeon held off on my bp meds after surgery. I had a follow up with my general dr a few weeks after surgery and she officially took me off bp meds since I had lost some weight and my bp was normal [emoji16] Good luck to you! Btw- Today is my 2 month Surgiversary! SW: 311 Surgery Weight 7/3/19: 281 CW: 231 Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. So around the first couple months of 2018, I decided my health was bad enough to do the drastic. Weighing at around 475lbs, out of control diabetic, a lot of health stuff, couldn’t do anything hardly but sit around dying, slowly. Fast forward to October 2018, day of my surgery was at 430lbs. It’s September 2019, I’m at 318lbs. I feel so much better! I’m in my first stall. My goal is 200lbs or under. My diabetes is nowhere to be found, from the day of my surgery to now, it’s totally good, no more insulin. I’m going to the gym2-3 times a week. I have a few pics to see. Tried to do before, during and after in order. The last pic is about a week ago.

It is safe, for those they say to do less days. One difference is the size of livers... the 10 day diet is to help shrink the liver to get it out of the way. Those with lower BMI's don't necessarily need to shrink the liver. Sometimes it is just surgeon preference. They pump your stomach at the start of surgery, so there won't be food in there regardless. At least mine does, and I can't imagine other docs don't do it since they are cutting your stomach in half.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

lol, well lying down and dying wasn’t an option so I chose plan A— survival 😂😂 Seriously though... thanks. It’s hard even now after 10 years to accept that what I did was quite phenomenal. In the moment, it was just surviving til the next step was over. I will say this though: people automatically assume getting cancer and being on chemo will make you emaciated— um... nope! I gained OVER 25 pounds of that hard-fought 40 and then added another 15 in the next year. The whole year of being on steriods, followed by the metabolic disaster of the chemo finally did in what my chronic dieting had not already destroyed. It took me a few years to admit it, but my metabolism was completely and hopelessly damaged. What funny is now that I know this, I see many many patients of mine who have also come out successfully the other side of chemo complain about inability to lose weight, pre-diabetes, and even full-blown type 2DM years later. Edited to add: It was a second cancer scare in early 2018 that got my butt motivated to do something like WLS to get this weight off.  Not sure if everyone knows this, but the number one risk factor for ANY kind of cancer is obesity.  Still being MO for 10 years post cancer was stressing me out so much.  Luckily scare #2 was just that— a false alarm, but I’m thankful now that it happened bc it was the wake up call I needed to make  this drastic of a lifestyle change.
