    How much fill?

I would bet that when you can begin to exercise, your weight stall will change. It made a big difference in mine. Hope you feel up to doing some simple workouts soon!! Kat

    Did i over do it????

I would stick to whatever plan your doctor has given you. The first few weeks after surgery really difficult, hunger wise. I felt like I was hungry most of the time, but I stuck to my doctors plan and it's really paid off.
  3. I am 6 weeks out, and have recently been feeling nauseated in the mid afternoon. Anyone feeling these symptoms? Is this normal?

    Protein and hunger question

You know, it seems to me that if you eat at 5:30 you should be hungry. Going from 5:30 to noon seems too long to me. I just saw the nutrionist yesterday. She actually wrote me up a schedule. She wants her lap band patients to each every three hours and sip water the hour after each meal up to 1/2 hour before. Seems like you should be eating a meal or snack that starts with protein right about 9am just like your stomach is telling you :-). Britt

    Stalling

  6. Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to the site so ill give you a bit of background. I was banded in Aug 2010 and have lost around 50 pounds since then. Over the last year, my weight has remained constant, despite a series of fills, unfills, etc. Last summer, the dr checked for a slip but the films looked ok. Just bad reflux. Now, after an UGI showing a slip and a repeat UGI yesterday, the slip is confirmed and did not resolve on its own. I am tentatively scheduled for revision surgery next week and, as the title suggests, I'm freaking out about it. I work full time, have 2 young kids and the holidays are just around the corner. My husband is only somewhat helpful Can anyone offer words of wisdom or advice of any kind? Thanks in advance... F
  7. I just had my slip repaired and had plication done on the 15th of November. I'm not sure why, but this surgery was SO much easier to recover from than the original band surgery! The only reason I can think of for that is that my body was already used to a much smaller amount of food. I didn't have any of the weakness and light-headedness that was so extreme with my first surgery. One week to the day after my revision and plication, I was re-arranging my living room furniture by myself and decorating for Christmas!! Hopefully yours will be easy, too.

    Lap Band on 10/22

I just had my surgery on 10/14. Answers to questions: 1. it is normal not to go #2. I am doing liquids for 2 weeks so there is no food to cause you to have a bowel movement. As you introduce foods, you will start once again. They also say that a diet high in Protein can cause constipation but everyone is different. My doctor recommends a stool softner and a mild laxative to help. 2. To get the gas out of your system, they suggest to walk, walk, walk. 3.When you burp, it may feel like that. Remember you had major surgery and disrupted your tummy. It may take time for things to heal. 4. There are protein supplements that you add to Water, I haven't tried any myself but you could check out the various wesites that offer Protein powder or a health food store (like GNC) where they sell them. Good luck!!

    Age

I am four months post-op and 61. I have met lots of people even older so I think they consider weight and co existing conditions more than age. I've lost 50 lbs and still working on 50 more so I believe go for it!! I exercise 1 hour 6 days a week, work full time with no plans to retire and really am beginning to feel much younger!

    Vitamins

I've always done Centrum (or the generic equivalent) and haven't had any issues. Lots of WLS patients take them. As long as a vitamin meets the ASBMS (American Society of Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeons) requirements, it should be fine. for calcium citrate, I have three ways I take it --- Upcal D (a powder which I mix into things like yogurt), generic calcium citrate tablets from Walgreens or CVS, and Bariatric Advantage calcium chews which are great for traveling or for when you're out and about and not near your regular calcium stash (I always keep a few of them in my purse for that reason).

    Need Some Advise Please

I have pcos and did treatments before surgery. Got preg lost that baby then got preg on my own two weeks after losing that baby on my own then preg again when my 1st daughter turned six months. Since the surgery my periods are all out of wack! Been bleeding more then not... So I hope everything works out for you! Clomid did wonders for me having a baby! Kind of set me straight! I think.

    sweet spot weight loss

when you reached your sweet spot how much weight were you losing each week? I've been steadily losing 2 lbs a week but now I have 6 cc's in and since my last fill on April 25th I've lost 5 lbs. Thanks!

    sweet spot weight loss

I was at my sweet spot for many months and lost most of my weight during this time. However, I only averaged about 1.5 pounds a week. I knew it was my sweet spot because the loss was steady and I wasn't hungry between meals and could only eat a limited amount of food before I was full. Really for me, I think the sweet spot is the point at which weight loss is no longer much of a struggle and it just happens if you are following the rules and exercising without feeling deprived. I would always lose a fast 5-10 pounds after a fill, but the sweet spot was long term with the 1.5 weekly loss on average.
  14. Good job! I will be 3 weeks post op on Tuesday! Yay I get to start purée phase! Not had a bite of food in 20 days! What's strange is when I'm around food that smells good, ya I think yum! But my stomach says no way! I am not hungry so it's been easy as far as that goes. I'm just tired of shakes, broth & yogurt! It will be so nice to put something new in my mouth! I hope I will be able to tell when I'm full because I kind of feel full all the time! I want to make sure I'm eating enough, but at the same time I don't want to over eat! Any suggestions???

    Ive gained!

Started on mushies last week...and weight loss has seemed to stop..I don't want to put an ounce back on..Dr says no excersizing till 6 w checkup..that I can walk 5 minutes a day besides working.....what to do?
  17. How did you feel about having to gain weight prior to your appt? I'm considering stopping my regular "diet" altogether and stop counting calories, etc. I'd hate to lose my progress but I guess a few weeks of feeling bloaty and gross is worth it if I can qualify for this procedure. 18. I wasn't up for it. I was swolen and uncomfortable for about a week. It was kindof hard to walk and sit comfortably too. But, I was back to 100% after that first week. It's different for everyone though . . .
  19. Happy Sunday Sleevers and soon to be sleevers and thinking about it sleevers!!! My God song of the week is Amazing Grace (my chains are gone). By Chris Tomlin. I truly feel like God is lifting chains off of me one by one. It is a wonderful feeling! I weighed in today and lost 3 more lbs (still waiting for my surgery) but that is a total of 24 lbs so far! Each one of those pounds is a chain on my body holding me down and back. I am 300 lbs now and able to exercise of 30 min straight without pain during or after. This is a big victory for me, and I give God all the glory. My chains are gone I've been set free My God, my Savior has ransomed me And like a flood His mercy reigns Unending love, Amazing grace The Lord has promised good to me His word my hope secures He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures [nomedia=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqJsBRFdrA0]YouTube - Chris Tomlin - Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)[/nomedia] Blessings:001_wub:

    Band or bypass?

Ok....after getting some feed-back I still would like to have something explained to me about the difference between banding & bypassing. What is the model patient as far as their eating habits for the band compared for the model patient as far as their eating habits for the gastric bypass?........meaing....,who NEEDS the extra help of the more extreme operation?....like the gastric bypass not only restricts the food you eat,it ABSORBES it.Also......on the other hand, the way I understand it is the band ONLY RESTRICTS how MUCH you eat without ABSORBUTION.What Im trying to say is....I have been eating very healthy TRYING to lose weight.Im sure my portions should of been SMALLER,BUT...it was a start.ALL protien...grilled chicken breast with lemon, steak, grilled Tuna,Trout,Kashi ceral or egg beaters for breakfeast, & I stick to it pretty good.My trouble seems to be at night. When Im laying in bed,I start to get real hungry, nibbel on rice cakes....the next thing you know I have 10 of then....then the diet ice-cream...Ill have 2 of them, then a protien bar with peanut-butter,then Ill have 2 more of them....then choclate milk....then I finallly fall asleep. WITH THIS TYPE OF EATING HABITS will the lap-band help me NOT be hungry or are peoples oppinions think I need the absorutioin that you get with a bypass to help me lose the weight? With these type of unhealthy habits...what popular oppinion for what type of surgury I should get?The Lap-band or the bypass?I just want to make sure if I got the band...I WILL lose weight!I dont want to get the wrong operation for my eating habits or life style. I also go to the gym 4x a week for! Im 85 to 100 lbs over weight.my BMI is 43.Im 5'9'' & weigh 295. ANY INPUT WOULD BE DEEPLEY APPREACITED!!!!

    Working post op

I also work a desk job. I had two weeks off, so it was a breeze once I had to return. I just planned ahead, and made sure that I had purees, protein shakes, etc. on hand at all times. This is something new, but you will get used to it in a hurry.
  22. Trying to find women like me who had surgery to regain their fertility.. I have secondary infertility due to pregnancy induced Hypothyroid with an underlying of PCOS. Basically before baby 1 I was healthy & fit with no issues. That pregnancy caused my thyroid to crap out, causing the imbalance of hormones (pcos), causing the weight gain... Here I am 3 years later & 180lbs heavier getting surgery in two weeks as an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) recommendation to hopefully conceive naturally when I am cleared to do so. I am 23, reach out with your story if you are or were in the same boat!!

    Setting your goal weight

My dr hasn't talked about a goal with me yet I'm only 9 weeks out. But I was 175 back in the day and other than needing to tone up I was happy there so I made that my personal goal. I will see where I am when I get there. It's also the high end on the range for a person of my age and height. I can pull off a heaver weight because I'm so tall (5'10) and I didn't look heavy then I was in a size 12-14. I did have some extra chubs on my tummy then but I felt good in clothes.
