Every little victory is awesome but I really, honestly, (swear to God HONESTLY) get sick of the shock and awe. Just be happy for me, say I look nice and MOVE ON! It's more about how I feel than how I look (most days anyway). On a side note.... NSV of the day: wearing a pair of trouser pants to work that I knew were lose but having to use some stockingnet (I work in medical field - this is the sleeve that goes under a cast) to rig up a belt because my pants were literally falling down. About to say goodbye to size 16 I hope!

BIG NSV for me today!! I started at 24/26 in pants and I'm down to XL or 16/18 in tops, but the shorts/pants just weren't getting there because of the tummy. My work out shorts were getting too big, but didn't seem like they were big enough to drop a size yet. But, this morning I tried on one of the two pair I bought on clearance a couple of weeks ago... and I'm disappointed because the smaller size of the two fits me. I'll never get to wear the bigger one. Oh, yeah... the old shorts were 2x. The new ones are XL, not 1x. Guys don't get it, but the gals here will for sure!

Tiffy: that was a great NSV. I had posted but not in this place. So sorry if you all havealready read this but here goes. Friday after thanksgiving we were going togo to the show and meet friends after. I had to try on 8 different things to find one thing that was acceptable. Then on Saturday I was wearing just my regular jeans and top and I was working in the kitchen and walking back and forth to the dinning room (putting stuff away) any way hands full and all my pants started sliding down. Now, get a mental picture of this please, my hubby is up on a step ladder putting the bowls and large platters away for me and here I come with my arms full and there go my pants! I am trying to do the legs wide apart so they don't fall off, and so I am just waddling. histerical. just crazy fun. After the moments (several) had passed, my hubs said I was to go shopping and get some pants that are tight. Tight enough to last until the next stage. He is sure a believer now in the sleeve. So, walking out of your pants is fun. I laughed so hard and long my sides still hurt on Sunday. Sunday when I went and got 2 new pairs of pants. Hubby said good thing I was not wearing thoes jeans when we went out last night! duh! Glad you had a great time with your Hubs too. Thoes moments lead to such great celebratory fun. heehee turtles and blondes: you get us on our backs and we are both screwed.

Hi all, I just had to share this funny NSV!! My cat usually sits on one of my legs and this morning she kept falling off, it was so funny she was slowly losing her balance and one of her paws kept slipping!! I know my legs aren't skinny but it does show they are smaller than they used to be......

My apologies as I seem to have understood it incorrectly. It was explained to me that the scales may not always show a loss, but your body is still changing, especially for example, when you exercise more, and exchange fat for muscle. And I certainly found it useful when I had the occasional unexplained 'stall' over a few weeks with very little weight lost. The NSVs (ie nothing to do with the scales!) are very heartening and kept my motivation high when it may well have dropped away.

My favorite NSV to date (and this one will be hard to beat). Back in September, a few weeks pre-op, I joined a local gym to add to my home treadmill options. The step glider there kicked my tail! If I kept the pace up just at that thing's stall speed, my heart rate would go way too high. After ten minutes of trying to workout and that thing pausing all the time, I gave up and went back to the treadmill. This week, I did 65 minutes on it (on level 5 hills) and kept my heart rate dead in the middle of "cardio" workout. This is my favorite because it speaks to the real reasons behind this surgery--to get healthy. Oh yes, and my A1C dropped from a 6.8 to a 5.1.

It's the little things that really hit home as cool NSV's. Last week.....getting dressed at the gym.....crossed my legs and couldn't believe how easy it was. Now....when I go out to restaurants.....I always request a booth. Last week at work I even sat at one of our booths in the cafeteria. Everyone complains about how small these things are....yet there I was....sitting there and was completely comfortable.

NSVs are hard to come by these days for me, but yesterday it happened. I did 4 hours of yard work. We have about 1.5 acres, and it's been over 3 weeks since we were able to mow (damn rainy weekends in Florida). Anyways, I mowed, trimmed hedges, trimmed our large tree in the front yard, and cleaned out the mulch so I could replace it this year. We have a riding lawn mower and it only takes me about 1.5 hours to mow so that was a breeze. But, all the other stuff was pretty intense. The tree I trimmed was a boogar, and then I drug all the big branches into the bon fire pile. Some of those branches were 4-6 inches in diameter & some of them were about 8-9 feet long, and I trimmed them with a hand saw. The tree was growing into some power lines, and it had to be trimmed before the power company gave us notice. I raked the front yard, and cleaned up all the mulch. The husband got home, and was shocked that I was able to get so much done. He thought I had paid someone to come do everything. I just laughed at him, and told him that I did it all. NSV came when I realized that I was not dying from exhaustion, I wasn't sore from all of the work, and I felt so good that I showered, and went to John's softball game. Pre-op I would have never done all of that without taking several breaks, and being absolutely worn out. I didn't stop for those 4 hours, and was hellbent on getting it all done.

My latest nsv happened a couple of days ago flying from New Orleans to Atlanta before flying home to the UK - and fitting in the seat to the extent that my arms were inside the armrests! I wasn't anywhere near the man next to me. Whoo hoo! And, despite the heat in NO, it was my first holiday where I wasn't a greasy blob for the duration. Another whoo hoo!

Loving this thread! I think the NSVs might even be more rewarding than the scales because they are tangible. Had my first experience of not being able to put the armrest all the way down on a recent flight because of these bloody hips...SO demoralizing! So I am eagerly awaiting that particular NSV (and many others!), as so many have described. Great job y'all! Happy dance for the NSVs!!

    NSV shout outs

It's been a couple of weeks since anyone posted any new NSV's so I wanted to bump this thread, and see how everyone is doing. I have one, it isn't very exciting, but I thought I would share. While John and I were in WV, we attended a WV University football game in Morgantown, WV. It's been John's dream to attend a game up there, and I got box tickets for 50 bucks for the biggest rival game of the season. We decided to rent a hotel room, and stay the night up there. The college is 3 hours from his folks place. Anyways, we knew parking would be a nightmare. The hotel desk attendant told us it was only a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. We thought it would be a nice little walk, and give us a chance to see stuff around the area. Come to find out, it was a 4 mile trek up and down hills to get to the stadium. BUT, I walked it like a champ. It did only take us about 20 minutes, but I have short legs so I don't walk fast. I'll throw out there that it was also 29 degrees out, and my knees NEVER hurt, ached, or throbbed ( I would of never been able to make it pre-surgery). I told John we were going to get a taxi for the way back. But, at the end of the game, we sucked it up, and walked back. The temperature had dropped, and the wind was whipping around at about 15mph, but we managed. My hamstrings were a bit tight the next morning, but I don't if that was from the walk or the after the game celebatory lovin':001_tt2: I got at the hotel ! ! ! WVU won, and so did I.

Hi all. I don't have an NSV yet, besides finding this site. This thread is AWESOME. It took me a while to go into it and read it because I thought NSV meant something about November sleevers. LOL. I'm so silly. Anyway, you are all so inspirational and these NSV's are so motivating to me! Keep up the wonderful work, and one day I hope to have a "real" post in this section!!

I actually can wear a XL flair skirt . I can finally wear skirts and shirts and get rid of my MOO MOO dresses. When I hug my children, I can actually feel them and wrap my arms around them. I don't feel like a slob. I can wear two bras comfortably to keep things up. I am able to zip up my winter coat without feeling like I am about suffocate. I can actully wear a jacket under my winter coat if i need to. I can cross my legs better (I am always crossing them) I can run up and down the stairs without my knees hurting! I can go all day without deodorant and not smell like a skunk. I can shave without any problems. I love my sleeve and I look forward to many NSVs. Later Losers!

I wowed myself and a friend last night. I needed to go to the mall for walking shoes because my wally world specials were like walking in boxes and were falling off my feet. (NSV right there, hmmm?) Before Rex (my sleeve) I would have parked as close as possible to the entrance nearest my desired store and waddled my way into the store and back out. I hated shopping! Last night, we parked outside one of the big anchor stores and walked through there, looking at shoes, perfume, etc. Then we strolled down the mall, window shopping at all the little stores, walking through several of them, until we came to the sports shoe store, where I tried on and purchased a pair of sale walking shoes in a smaller size! We cruised through the other 2 big anchor stores, then walked the length of the mall back to the one we had entered...and I didn't stop to rest or feel winded at all! I don't mind shopping now! I'm going to make a post in the fitness section as well, with a couple of questions.

So it's a half nsv/ half sv...I'm only 20 lbs from a "normal" weight/bmi...I don't remember the last time I could say that. It's funny because I am really quite pleased with my weight now, my personal goal is just 3 pounds more, and now I am a bit curious...just a nice "dilemma" to have I just realized I'm posting in the wrong forum...I just saw nsvs and got excited lol.

Hi - my best NSV so far -- was feeling very fit at the gym, so afterwards decided to pop in to Dress Barn to see if I was down a pants size. YES I WAS! Now wearing size 10 petite! I cried in the fitting room. Arrived at the hospital last August in size 22 pants. Never, in my entire teenage or adult life have I been a 10. Someone at work asked me when I was going to stop losing. I told her when I no longer cast a shadow!

Summer NSV! Had a great day with family and friends on the Boise river today. We rented innertube's to float the river. The park staff called my name to pick up my equipment. He handed me a child's life jacket to wear. He said the adult size would not fit me.

Kari, Great idea about the shakes, I was drinking those, but lately they seem clumpy and gross to me. I did eat cheese this morning, and it was pretty nice. By the time I ate it and drove my son to school, he missed the bus, and then made it to my coffee shop, it had been long enough to drink the coffee. then, I really didn't drink much of it and ended up throwing it out. Mary, congrats on the jeans. I would have (and did when I went to a concert this summer) laid on the bed and zipped them up just to see if they would. Age makes this less comfortable than it used to be, seems like I always wore my jeans tight enough that the only way to get them on was lying down and using a hanger to zip them. My NSV today was a coworker who stopped me in the hall and said I was "shrinking" (I was wearing heels so I don't think she was talking about my height). On a slightly sad note, today I wore one of my favorite pair of slacks (they have many of the qualities that Clinton and Stacy talk about on What Not to Wear) and I was swimming in them! Well, I still wore them cause they are about all I have, but if I didn't have my jacket on, they looked ridiculous. I guess I have to take them in and have them altered. I haven't lost enough in inches to fit into most of my smaller stuff, but my bigger clothes look dumb. Oh, the trials. Listen to me complain, what an idiot, I could be getting to big for those clothes like I was before! Ruthie, great fitting into your little people car. DH always says everything is made for midgets (he is 6'5" ) while I am busy trying to reach the pedals since I'm only 5'2". Have a great night. We've almost made it through the first week of school here!
