1. My doc said that it was OK to take my Arthrotek (an anti-inflamitory). I havn't had any trouble with it. I have arthritis, but I'm hoping after the weight is off that I won't need so many meds anymore. Has anyone tried Cymbalta for fibromyalga pain? I heard that it is good for that.

3. I told myself once I lost 50 pounds, I would buy a new pair of cowgirl boots (still trying to find the exact pair that I want). Once I reach my goal (or within 20 pounds of it), we are going to start trying to have a baby. I want a baby so bad, but we haven't really tried, because I always worried that my pregnancy would be risky with all of this weight. Congrats to all!!!! Such an exciting journey

Flat lined and need help

Yeah I had it adjusted for the reason and in 2 and a half weeks I put on 2.6kg!!!!!! Some days are ok, others are not good. I understand my body might be holding onto what it can however it's just strange. I spoke with the doctor who said if I could workout weight loss and obiesty I would be very rich!!!!!!
5. Hello all and congrats to everyone who is pregnant or has already had their baby. I am looking forward to the day when I can join you. I'm hopping by May my husband and I can start trying (skipping June due to the fact my husband says no sex in June because then the baby would be born in March which would interupt March Madness .) I would like to loose some more weight  to have a really healthy pregnancy but its so hard to "weight". I have a question for you all....In what unique ways did you tell your husbands/mothers you were pregnant? Looking forward to this day very much and love hearing peoples stories.
6. My first major reward will be going skydiving when I'm under 200 I'm only 10 pounds away so my husband keeps joking about upping my life insurance but he does not have a weight issue so he doesn't understand. The other day I told him "I just want to weigh less than my husband" and he replied with "well just keep feeding me cheeseburgers" lol I have 30 pounds to go until i weigh less than him I started out almost 100 pounds more! Reward yourself with something other than food!!! Haha how many times do you hear "oh my gosh thaw great we should go out to dinner to celebrate!" haha
7. Hi - had anyone been approved by Aetna without 2 year weight history showing BMI over 40? I am almost ready to submit but am so afraid of being denied. I have 1 year showing BMI of 36.2 from 2010 and a Jenny Craig paper from 2011 showing 38.3. Any advice is sooo appreciated ! I called the Bariatric nurse at Aetna 4 times over the last 3 months and she said not to worry- she said that since my BMI is 40.4- I should be approved with no problem . Is she lying?

By my calculations

I looked back over my online food tracker at my weight loss; by the time I set up my tracker I had already lost 24 lbs since surgery 5 weeks prior (20 of those lbs were in the first 2 weeks post-op btw), but I just now decided to look back at the bulk (ha ha) of my weight loss and calculate on average, how much weight I lost during my steadiest era of loss. in 13 weeks I lost 50 lbs which averages out to about 3.8 lbs a week, that was from the end of month 2 post-op to the start of month 6. It seems no matter what the F*** I do, no matter how morbidly obese, no matter how faithful and perfect a patient I am, I am one SLOW A$$ EFFING LOSER. -.- *cough* sorry about that, little peeved ... Even when I still weighed in the high 200's (260s), and was eating 600 calories a day with only 20g carbs, I STILL, was only losing a pound every couple of days. So, has anyone else done calculations like these? How much did you lose, which period post-op, and how much were you eating?

A Positive Thought...

Half of the battle for successful weight loss surgery is a positive attitude, and you've got that covered. I really liked the line about no longer needing "a wall of flesh between me and the world" - very apropos. ????
12. Angelinnc32 congrats on your weight lost and your choice to being healthy you have done an amazing job , thank you for sharing your story because it is an inspiration , does your doctor state why you must be 200 pounds even? I am sure it is not a health issue , my doctor told me that I can not have any surgery to remove any skin until I am at least 1year post opt and he really perfers two years post opt unless you are having major complications. Because he states by then you would have lost all that you are going to loose , I am currently 9 months post opt and I am looking forward to loosing more weight. Good luck and keep us posted, by the way have you considered going to a different doctor for your surgery?
13. Wow, I made it one month! And I lost weight. And I didn't starve to death. And I wasn't the one patient this won't work for. And I actually did feel better again. And I guess all that stuff I suffered, stressed and was near crazed about , I dealt with and I didn't die or anything. 17 pounds down from the day I walked into the hospital for my surgery. Yay me!
14. No, I didn't feel like that. When I got home from the hospital I was gleeful I wasn't dead, didn't have a flesh eating disease, and wasn't in pain and didn't have to take pain meds. I really hate and have a fear of hospitals so getting in and out of one unharmed was a massive relief for me. I wasn't thinking about my weight loss, I was thinking I beat the grim reaper. However at 6 weeks I felt like I hadn't lost enough, I had lost 20lbs in a month before on low carb diets. I felt that I should have lost a lot more considering I barely eating. Then after 6 weeks I could eat more than starvation level calories, I started losing really fast. Don't focus on the negatives, focus on the positives. If you focus on the negatives and stress yourself out, the stress won't help your weight loss. Stay calm, relax and rest. the weight will come off.
15. Hello Surgery Buddy I was sleeved on 6/20 also!!!! Listen, you are not alone by a long shot! I was saying to a close friend whom has already been through this that " this could not be my life right now"!! But it is and it will get better over time! I had a scale already at home that I have to tell myself every morning " Just walk past it" because I was stepping on it every morning since Wednesday wondering why the numbers wasn't moving. Im in the medical field so i already know why!! But I blame it on my meds .... The important thing to remember is this is a lifestyle change that will get better over time aND before you know it the weight will be dropping because we will be consuming food and nutrients and protein aND we'll feel great about it!! Don't sweat WE GOT THIS!!! BY the way I'm Jazz Soon2B Sleeved
16. Hello Everyone, I recently had the sleeve on December 17,2016. This journey has been a long process. Initially my insurance required I do 6 months of documented weight-loss. Which I completed in September of 2016. However I was with True Results of Dallas weight-loss clinic which has now transition to the Nicholson clinic. Having the sleeve has been a struggle. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for 21 days . Hopefully when I go in on the 01/03/2017 I'll be cleared for pureed foods. Any suggestions other than Soups or broths or sugar free pops they give me acid reflux . Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App
17. Hi, everyone! After waiting for over a year, I received notification of my first appointment to start the process for Lap Band surgery. It's been a long, long wait. Three years ago, I started the process for gastric bypass surgery but backed out after going through quite a few appointments because the risks scared the heck out of me. I also know of several people who have had gastric bypass and some have also had a host of gastro-intestinal issues. They all lost a great deal of weight, but some just aren't healthy anymore despite the weight loss. So I declined continuing towards that surgery. After discussing my finding with my doctor, she suggested the Lap Band and we started the process all over again. Finally! I have my first appointment scheduled for May 9th. A little about me - I'm a 45 years old, female, and work in the medical insurance field. I'm looking forward to meeting some people who are also waiting for the Lap Band or who have already gone through the process and are on their way to becoming "big losers." :Dancing_wub: See you on the forum.
18. I have been feeling funny in my tummy for the past 24 hours. Just wondering what this is. If you don't know me, I was banded on Sept 30th, so I am 3.5 weeks post op. I had complications after surgery and ended up in the hospital for a week (possible reaction to the band, possible infection). I have been doing fine since then and I am now on mushies. Since my surgery I have lost 28 lbs. I am on CPAP and I noticed that my stomach was filling with air while I sleep, so I turned down the pressure...All better now, but it worried me that I was stretching out my stomach. I hadn't really been hungry, but yesterday I felt like my stomach was growling all day. Even after eating I felt this weird "bubble-like/rumbling" feeling in my stomach. I took some lortab elixer and it seemed to help. My surgeon's office told me that they would give me a fill when ever I felt like I needed it, but I thought I would put it off as long as I could since I was loosing weight and since I had complications(wanted to let everything heal good). Is this spasms or is it hunger? Should I get a fill?

Motorcycle riders??

One of my goals when I lost 50 pounds of my weight was to learn how to drive a motorcycle. I have always been a rider and had many stares and ugly comments about the "fat woman on the back". Well I have signed up at our local Harley dealer to learn how to drive in an all womens class and they even have a garage party a few weeks before it that is a womens only event where you can go in and ask all of the stupid questions you want without the people treating you like a total dummy. I am nervous and excited about obtaining one of my "non-food related goals. Any motorcycle drivers out there willing to give this newbie any advice? I am still needing to get some different gloves and a jacket which is a requirement when you are on the course (long sleeves). I am looking also for a motorcycle for me that would be a good starter type bike. Any suggestions would be helpful.:whoo:

Coming out of hiding...

you did the right thing by going back to your Dr. They are there to help us and trust me, you are not his first patient to fall off the wagon, band or not. Good job. Don;t let those old insecurities get to you. Your husband is with you becasue he wants to be. There is nothing I can say about how fast men lose weight, except DARN THEM.

January Challenge

hahaha! Good question after the holidays! I was lucky enough to not gain, but didn't lose, either! So my goal is to get back to eating three healthy meals a day (high protein, low calories) and oh, lose some more! It's still an awesome journey, and this website and on-going thought-provoking topics like yours has kept me going my whole journey. Continued good luck to us!
22. Been banded for 2 years and still can eat what ever and as much as I want. Lost 40 pounds after surgery and have kept that off, But stuck at current weight. I eat and it just goes thru. I have been to the doctor and there is just a small amount left to fill. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED. its not easy when you never feel full WHAT CAN I DO? Its been two years and this sucks.

Post Op - Day #4 need advice

I slept in a reclining lazy-boy type chair for the first several nights. I sort-of treated myself like I had when I was pregnant - pillows sort of propping up my belly. It really helped. My very large, three year old son came out in the middle of the night on my first night home and crawled up on me. Fortunately, I was propped in well enough that his weight wasn't totally on me. My mom was sleeping soundly in my bed and didn't hear me calling for her and I had to get up with my 40+lbs son and take him to her. I was fine but talk about taking it slow! It gets easier each day - or it did for me!

Thank you for your reply toy27! Do you mind sharing what makes you feel like you should have done the weight loss yourself, versus getting the surgery?
