    Red Velveter's

Dear sweet RV's! Kelly and MIchelle- I miss you both. I took a little break from here.... but seeing this post made me realize how much I missed you two! But I am rocking my sleeve! I added hamburger last weekend and actually made Eggface's ricotta bake with a layer of ground beef- had to make a double batch cause the family loves it too! Next comes beef and regular food in the next couple of weeks. If you do that I calculated the nutritional values so let me know if you want it. Its delish! I am really happy now- walking an hour a day PLUS doing Water aerobics...still not able to eat more than a 1/4 cup but I am used to it. I still have a Protein shake in the morning- my fave chocolate with decaf- plan to transition to regular coffee soon cause I miss it! Then I also have an unjury chicken Soup late afternoon/early evening so I can really vary what I have at my tiny meals and don't have to feel like it has to be all protein. My nutritionist said she fully expects me to have 2 drinks a day during the weight loss phase. I can proudly say I have gotten at least 60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water every day since day five. I STILL set my phone alarm for drinking but the warm weather finally coming to our area of NO CA has helped- yesterday I drank 3 liters. I lost 5 pounds last week to bring my current total to 43 pounds (including my 2 week pre-op because I really do consider that my start date!) I am thrilled with that. I feel GOOD- I feel so much more energetic and I feel really IN my body- do you know what I mean? I felt kind of numb before. My husband says I have my sparkle and prana back. It is just what I hoped for. I am so happy I get to meet you Kelly- say you will come to Hayward on the 9th! We MUST hug in person instead of just cyber hug. My biggest NSV is that I took a leap of faith and made plans to go to The Gorge in Washington in September to see Dave Matthews Band- my family has seen them all over the place but I never dared go there as it is camping and hilly terrain and I finally feel that I can do it! I am thrilled that my sleeve sistah's the red velvet girls are doing so beautifully! Red Velvets forever! ps in whisper tone- my birthday is Saturday and I admit I plan a few bad girl things- my husband is buying all the new Ben and Jerry flavors and I will have a teaspoon of each spread through the day so I can try them, plus a little bit of movie popcorn since my son works at the theater. I figure I can't do too much damage! ;-P

I don't think that's silly. Gotta appreciate the little NSV's too! I was happy when I could put down the armrest on my chair!

That was a major thing for me too. . . and it is a very important NSV! Congratulations and keep up the excellent work! For me now it's that the booth is too big, the seat is too far from the table . . ugh can I never be happy!

that is definately not silly. . . that is a great NSV!!! Congratulations!
  6. Fun NSV: I usually walk against the crowd at the State Capitol for my walks... anyhow, I just noticed that no one gives me "extra" room when approaching me anymore - they just move over a tiny bit if they are coming directly at me. Nice!! Believe me they used to really move over a lot... LMAO!!

  10. So I wore some stretchy capri length leggings out of the house to go to our little local grocery store last night. I had on a shirt that used to be tight on me but is now tunic length or looks like a maternity shirt now (LOL) so my rear end had full coverage...but I wore LEGGINGS OUT OF THE HOUSE!

That is a great NSV - CONGRATS!!!!
  16. My best friend Karen is someone I've always regarded as just one of the most amazing looking people that I know. She literally looks like Lucy Lawless (Xena) and is the same height as me, but is slim and healthy, and graceful, and a health nut. I've always admired her. We are in a pirate singing group together. This last weekend at a performance, I had noticed that my costumes were all huge big gigantic and looked SILLY. I had one that didn't look so bad, and I was wearing it, but I had to wear two belts to get it to stay on right. She said to me in regards to the costume she was wearing. "Well, I'm getting tired of this bodice, and I think it would fit you. Do you want it?" You cannot believe how thrilled I was that she said that. I never thought I would live to see the day. I can't wait to try it on!!
  17. I know it's hard to stay positive, especially reading posts by people who have lost 60+lbs in like 3 months. Just remember, like others mentioned, realistically we should only be losing 1-2lbs a week. Anymore is an added bonus. You all sound like you are on track; I'm in month 5 and still am hovering around the 40lbs mark (grr). However, I have lost over 35 inches, have more stamina, and a new found confidence; while the number on the scale is a motivator don't forget about your NSV's! This is a journey for all of us, and slow and steady is not a bad thing. Pat yourself on the back for doing something good for yourself, and just be patient; we're all still learning...
  18. I know this will not sound very importamt to a lot of you but it is big for me. I can now fit in a booth at restaurants and do not have to sit at a table. I hated always asking for a table because I could not fit in a booth. I have specifically asked for a booth for the last two weeks when we go out and it is fantastic. I will never sit at a table again if I have a choice.
  19. Definitely a great NSV!

    I still want...

Thank you all so much for your replies. I will definately take into consideration everyone's mutal agreement on this being a good idea. I did have a small revelation over the weekend. I got to enjoy the complany of good friends and family. A big pool party at my aunt's place with all the father's: grandfather, dad, and brother-in-law. It was a great time and I felt great. I participated in the pool volley ball and had a great time and kept up with everyone's pace. I even got picked first for grandpa's team. Feeling better, and looking better. Oh and big nsv, I got into a size 18 pair of shorts I just dug up from the button of the drawer and decided to try on over the weekend. Thanks again!

    Today's NSV

Shoot! I can't do Thursdays for several weeks - my husband teaches at night and I don't think my 6-year-old would be too interested! i will definitely come in the future, when this quarter is over for my husband. Again, congrats on your NSV!!

    Getting Sleeved June 27th

I think you need to read your two favorite quotes...over and over. Yes, reaction is completely normal as you are having an optional surgery. Suggest you write down why you want this surgery and why you need this surgery. Be honest, putting down shopping in junior section is okay. Next, since you are new to site, read some of the NSV (non scale victory) posts by scrolling down. These are my sleeve brother and sisters getting excited over more than just a pound weight loss on the scale. Be excited, a new you is close at hand - insert your two favorite quotes please here. I love my sleeve and have no regrets. Best wishes and keep us posted.
  23. Happy Anniversay Vicky! Congrats on the NSVs! Jess I saw your post about onderland on another thread. Good job! Doesn't it feel great?!?
  24. I went to get a fill Thursday, and for the first time in 6 years, my blood pressure was normal!!!! I have to confess, when I was placed on the meds, they were never strong enough. But I was in denial and didn't want to get a stronger dose. So I've just been skating by all of these years. I CANNOT wait to get off this medication. That was my first reason for having this surgery. The pounds have been slow to drop, but what I've lost plus exercising consistently has done the trick. Yeah, Me!
  25. So, I am at about 6-7 weeks out from surgery. I have lost about 50% of what I want to lose. I'm overall feeling better physically--or at least I was. For the past week and a half I have been getting very faint when I stand up and it lasts a couple of minutes. Also, all of a sudden going up stairs has become as difficult as it was before I had surgery. I don't get out of breath, my legs just feel like Iron. I have been on blood pressure meds for about 10 years now. I take Lisinopril HCTZ and Metoprolol once a day. My bp has been on average around 130/80 WITH the meds. So I decided to go to my PCP today to tell him about the lethargy and lightheadedness. He took my blood pressure and it was 95/60. WOW. No wonder I have felt like crap. The good news is that we are going to start dropping the doses as long as my bp stays in the normal range. So YAY!!!! And also I don't feel like such a lazy slug as there is a physical reason why I have just been laying around except when I'm at work. This whole journey has been so fascinating. I'm discovering something new about myself every day. And finally--for the first time in probably 15-20 years--I feel girly and I'm loving it!!!! Lisa
