  1. Because my revision to bypass was denied I have deal with my hiatal hernia and my severe Gerd. My Gerd is so bad I'm on at least 4 to 5 different meds and I still wake up throwing up acid. My insurance won't cover anything and was told to treat medically. How do you deal with this? My hernia is ok, I can't breathe very wells and have chest pains but it's there. I knew something was wrong when I went to the gym and couldn't do the elliptical. But my dr told me to deal with it now and learn to maintain it. But how? 2. I was sticking to my goals. I've been good, no sweets, nothing but my 10 day stall is causing me to revise my goals anyway. Really annoying since I haven't indulged in all the temptations been on vacation for 4 days now. This is when things get really tough...when I want to say f-it. I might as well have some...
  3. My hubby had his failed revision from his Lap -Band to a RNY and the plan was to remove his gallbladder at the same time They did take out his band and his gallbladder at the same time!! 3 years later he finally had his Sleeve done. So I wonder why someone who was already having surgery and they know there is a problem with his gallbladder why they wouldn't do it at the same time.
  4. 4 years ago I was fortunate enough to get the gastric sleeve, however I only lost about 70lbs and was extremely disheartened with my results. Last Monday I was fortunate enough to get the bypass. I have read on this forum that when you do a revision not much weight is lost. Is this true? Has anyone had a failed revision? I would appreciate the feedback anyone has to offer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. After 4 months of crossing off requirements for my surgery center and my insurance company I was denied. The reason was one weight loss surgery per lifetime. That sounds pretty final to me. Has anyone else had this happen and then was approved after an appeal? My lapband kept tightening on me and then I would have to get an unfill then refill and repeat. The last time when i was getting refilled I developed GERD and could not get filled to proper restriction because the GERD was too awful. Thank you in advance with any info. Jen

How often do you weigh yourself?

Me too!!! Lapband revision to gastric bypass on 12-14-2016 Highest weight: 353 lbs Weight day of surgery: 308.2 lbs Current weight: 298.6 Total weight loss: 9.6 lbs
  7. Sorry to make you go through these questions, I'm just trying to make sure I fully understand what is going on. So, you had the Lap Band done and that is when you first started feeling this pain? And 8 weeks ago you had the revision, and the pain is still present? I would have suggested that it was trapped CO2 gas in your diaphragm. But since it's been 8 weeks, it is highly unlikely that the CO2 gas is still there. Do you still have your gallbladder? The reason I'm asking is because sometimes, when the body loses weight rapidly, the gallbladder can start to fail, and that can cause a gallstone. When there's a gallstone, you can have pain in your back. Have you ever had a HIDA Scan? If not, you may want to consider getting one. Also, you may want to have your spleen checked. In rare cases, the spleen can have a lack of oxygen getting to it, which can cause back pain. I don't mean to alarm you. I'm just thinking of possible reasons. I hate when doctors try to say that nothing is wrong, when someone clearly doesn't feel well. All of this could just be inflammation of the stomach because it is trying to heal, and the pain could be mimicking back pain. Are you getting up and doing a lot? You may need more rest. The ER might be a good choice, because then you'll have a second opinion. Keep us updated.
  8. Yeah you see on this board many people just don't read what I post and that is screwed up. You said it "if you are in pain then there is something wrong". I am probably going to the ER near me to get it checked out. I have insurance so it shouldn't be a bad idea. I got the revision about 8 weeks ago. It could be from caffeine and coffee but I don't think that can do that to me. It feels like I pulled a muscle in my abdominal.
  9. I had the lap band to sleeve revision surgery. Ever since I had the first surgery I've been experiencing a compression and cramping pain in the middle of my abdominal. If I sit on a chair it will get worse within the hour. The thing is I contacted my lap band doctor and he told me that there was nothing wrong. They did an upper GI and apparently there was nothing wrong with it. I have a feeling it has something to do with my abdominal muscle because I can feel it in my back sometimes also. I dunno what to do now because he didn't find anything and I may go get this checked out. I really don't think it is just my imagination because this doesn't feel normal. It really frustrates me when a doctor refuses to acknowledge that there's a problem. If you're in pain, there IS a problem. So, you're still having pain even though you've gotten the sleeve? How long ago did you get the revision?

    Sleeve Regrets?

I had the band 2008. Ok to start with then failed. Revision 2015. Nothing lost at all. Needed to lose 20kgs for a hip replacement operation. So August 2016 had the band removed and sleeve done all in one operation. I have lost about 6kgs only... really amazing when I see stories of others losing 40kgs in a year. My weight loss was all just post op. Then nothing since. I wonder if I wasn't overeating anyway as the band was a beast to get things through...maybe this decision was wrong for me. Seems the sleeve is best for people who ate large portions. I think now I should have gone bypass also it would have eliminated my dreadful reflux. Good luck with your decision. Band to RNY 12/6....scale hasn't moved

I'm 15 days out from my band to RNY revision. Although I lost 12lb in the first week the scales have completely stalled since I started on the purée stage in week 2. I've started doing some cardio in an attempt to get things moving again but so far it's had no effect. Trying to be patient but it's sooooo frustrating! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. I'm 4 days post op and having the worst recovery!! The gas pain is tolerable today but my brain is foggy and I'm having dizzy spells. I'm having trouble concentrating, feeling feverish(no actual fever though) hot/cold flashes and headache as well. I'm trying to keep hydrated thinking that may have been it but nothing seems to help. The only other thing I'm thinking is the fact that I was under anesthesia for 2.5 hours. I've never been under that long before. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm seeing my doctor on Tuesday but if I could have some piece of mind before that I would be very appreciative. 24. My stats were close My highest weight ever was 255 had the band in 2013 and revision 11/14/16. Weight at BEGINNING of revision was 244.4. i'm 5'3" wore an 18-20, bra 42DD, also and my stomach hangs over. I think it hangs over like it does because I had 2 c-sections. Since my surgery 11/14/16, I'm down to 218.8 stomach still hangs over, but I can tell it's not as heavy. Looking forward to it getting smaller as I get smaller.
