Short hair or Long Hair?

I have had very long hair all my life but when it started coming off, I went and got a straight chin length cut. I cried the first two days even though everyone complimented me on how I look ten years younger but even I am convinced now. I don't know if it has stopped falling off since the cut or if I don't notice it but it is a relief. I would run my hand through the long hair and at least 50 strands would come off at once. 3. Oh shoot! I don't know what to do. One minute I think I"ll get a second fill (scheduled for two days from now) and the next minute, I think maybe I don't need one. Before my 1st fill two weeks ago, I was starving and having to white-knuckle it to to eat properly and hold calories to 1600. After a 1st fill of 5cc in a 9cc band (Realize band), I had a bit of restriction for two days, followed by 6 days of being hungry again. These last couple of days I've been able to hold the calorie intake to 1000-1200 calories although I have to struggle just a bit with hunger. Weight loss these past 4 weeks has been about 1lb/week. Strange, but when I eat salmon or chicken, I can feel a bit of restriction so I eat only 3oz. to avoid discomfort with more. But... I can eat a huge bowl of lettuce/tomatoes/1oz.cheese quickly and without chewing carefully. How could that be? The question: Should I have a fill in two days or wait a few weeks? Thanks for any help you can provide.

What Happens When You Lose 40 Pounds!

I recently hit the 40 pound weight loss bench mark and I noticed a few things....... 1. I am only 10 pounds away from 50 which is half of 100:thumbup: 2. I now have a place to rest my hands when I put them on my hips to "discuss things" with my 5 children. (waistline who knew I had one?) 3. My fat girl jeans now look like they belong to a circus clown...never realized that before. That explains alot of things in my life:tongue_smilie: 4. "EGGBEATERS" really are manna from above. 5. The treadmill is more than just a closet anex. I never knew this weightloss journey would lead me to so many new realizations. On top of everything, I feel good today better than I have felt in a long long time. Mommy1558
5. I’m 15 days post op and I’m “only 4-5 lbs down!BUMMER. Which I clearly realized in the “Real World" is normal health loss. But folks like us who’ve resorted to going under the knife because of (in my case) life long failures at this very Quest, seem to expect the worst, and easily return to that negative thinking-for obvious reasons. We’ve been fighting a losing battle, UNTIL NOW. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! It’s as if this tool is going to stop working at any point, just like every other attempt. Wow. . I’m not much help am I LOL. Seriously, let’s stay positive follow the rules, take a walk, and win this battle-finally, and Finally. Peace!

December sleevers

I was sleeved on December 18th and have lost 27 pounds. I lost 20 of that in the first three weeks but then the weight loss really slowed down. I'm eating 600-700 calories a day, drinking only Water (85 oz. a day), and getting in about 50 grams of Protein. I started doing the treadmill an hour a day this week and have starting losing again. I just don't understand why I'm not losing more quickly when my calories are so low. Thankfully I have only vomited twice since I got home from the hospital. Once from eating a bite or two too much salmon, once eating too much of a fish taco. At the hospital I threw up the entire two days I was there (ugh!) I do feel really good and am hopeful that my weight loss will start going more quickly now that I'm exercising. Hope we all start losing more! :-)

Initial History

How did a former athlete who was 9% body fat in college get to this point? Well I was born with a bad heart valve that wore out faster than my body did. In my early 40s suddenly I was gasping for breath, by my late 40s I was type 2 diabetic, at 50 I had surgery for diverticulitus and lost 4" of my colon which slowed me down more. At 52 I had open heart surgery where they replaced the valve and found a aneurysm which would have killed me. However, I came out of this unable to lift weights, play softball or baseball, with a right arm and shoulder with nerve damage in it and a bad knee and hip. Then the meds quit controlling my diabetes, the new meds added weight and now it is out of control, I have nerve damage in my feet and my wife has to look at them every night to make sure I don't wind up with an infection. I was approved as a metabolic Weight Loss Patient on the first go around. I am now on my second doctor because the staff of the first one frankly was incompetent. I was lied to when they told me that they had filed FMLA, and I was pre-approved by insurance, they hadnt submitted either one of them. So being the analyst that I am I checked and found out everything. Added to that the hospital that they wanted to have the surgery in didnt have the best reputation. I should have had the surgery two months ago to keep nerve damage to a minimum. I am very nervous, from my major surgeries I live with pain every day. I was told that while they can do the sleeve that the results are better with bypass. However, the horror stories with malabsorption worry me. I am doing this to be able to have a life again not just to trade one set of issues for a whole other set. So any feedback is appreciated.

too tight.. heartburn..

Excited to get back into the swing of things.. I hope I can get rid of this weight for good! I feel like my band is really tight right now, I got an adjustment 2 days ago. Im at 7ML right now. I can swollow my own spit at least. I can sometime drink water just fine but other times its hard. I do not have a desire to eat and I feel this pressure in my chest, I think mostly because im having imense heartburn. Tums do not work. I feel like water just makes my heartburn worse. I have not been able to eat anything, but ive been VERY hungry. I really dont want to unfill and I think that it may just be swelling that will hopefully go down. Ill give it the weekend and see how im doing. Anyone else have heartburn problems? If anyone reads this that is.. http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wBecnHo/"> >

Weight Loss - Diet TickerJust testing the ticker and looking to have it here to test and refer to! Let's see if it works. Weight Loss - Diet Ticker OH well... http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wDqEvTv/
13. I'm 28 and down 40 as well. My dr swears what I'm seeing will go away. He said it gets worse before it gets better. Once near goal and weight training it'll be less noticeable. However, he told me from the beginning it all depends on how you carry your weight. I'm an equal opportunity gainer/loser. It's good for loose skin but sucks when it takes a lot of weight loss to lose sizes.
14. All of my postop weight loss doesn't include the gain either. I just totally wrote it off!
15. I am just a few days short of one month post op and I thank God every day that I finally made up my mind. I felt like that only way to lose the weight was to be up happy and diet every day of the rest of my life. Well I was half right. I do have to diet for the rest of my life but being unhappy while doing it is no longer a part of that deal! I have made the choice to no longer eat bread and a guess what I?m STILL HAPPY!! I am starting to get so much more energy and smiling more. When people I don?t want to know how the WLS ask about my weight loss I just say I?m not eating bread anymore. I?m sure it is helping take the weight off but being full from 3 oz of Soup doesn?t hurt either lol. When I first started looking into WLS I was 210 but I couldn?t pay to have the surgery in the states and I was scared to go to Mexico so I tried to lose on my own. Over the next year I did every diet and every weight loss pill out there. Phentermine was the only one that helped me but the moment I stopped taking it I started gaining again. I was always hungry and still over eating. I felt hopeless and weak! I looked at my family and felt defeat since everyone in my family is overweight and most are obese. After a year of hating myself thin (I'm sure some know what I mean) I got down about 30 lbs which I was starting to gain back slowly. So once again I found myself looking into WLS and I e-mailed BeLiteWeight. At that point my life started to change. I had some money saved up and my Mom was in a place where she could loan me the rest. On 7-12-10 my life became forever changed. I went to Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez Mexico and got what is called Laparoscopic total gastric vertical plication (TGVP) aka Super Sleeve. In one month I am only a few pounds shy of I lost in one year. I wasn't super obese when I had the TGVP but I was obese but a week and half post op I became just over weight. I am losing an average of .5 lbs a day and I am starting to have so much energy. I only need 11 more lbs to be a NORMAL BMI! ?NORMAL? Isn?t that exciting?? Me Normal! Before my TGVP every day was a fight to lose weight and even if I lost the weight the moment I would let me guard down the weight would come right back. Right before I made up my mind on have the TGVP I started thinking about the two times in my life that I did lose the weight and it hit me the only reasons I thought the weight was due to being sick or surgery. I never really lost the weight myself so I finally said yes to Mexico. Let me tell you IT WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF!! The other day I got really upset with myself since I felt like I had been eating all day. What the heck was wrong with me I just paid to get a smaller stomach and here I am stuffing my face! I have an app. on my Iphone that lets me put in what I have eaten and it tells me how many calories I have taken it. I thought I was going to up with joy once I was done entering in the food. I had even eaten 400 calories and I thought I had over eaten! Only a hand full of people know about my WLS but now that I don?t eat bread (you can eat bread if you like but it seems like a waste since I can only eat 3 oz) I get that the credit for my weight loss to those that think I am being unhealthy. So since I am keeping this to myself I THANK ALL OF YOU for being there for me to talk to! I don?t know what I would do without this site. It is nice to be with people that understand me and what I am dealing with! YOU ARE AWESOME!

Side note

My original weight loss tracker So I have made SOME progress. At my appointment yesterday I was up 8 pounds from my last appointment in April of 2009. So that's not so bad, could have been a lot worse. Could also have been a lot better if I'd gone in sooner.
17. Great advice and thank you again for your input. I'll try to check in more often...as I know it does help. P.S. Does weight loss come in spurts? The reason being...as I've studied the topic of "SET POINTS" and once you break your set point barrier....all of a sudden you can lose like 10-15lbs in a week. I noticed that when my brother lost....he could lose it in spurts...and was wondering if if I'm hitting a wall because I haven't busted through my current "set point" Thoughts?

Help! Too tight?

Hi everyone, Just wanted to update you that I got my unfill today. I'm so glad I listened to you guys I feel so much better. I could tell right away, even from just drinking Water. The crazy thing is I lost 12 pounds since Monday. The weight loss is great but not at the expense of how I was feeling. Not eating, no nutrients, was barely drinking. So again, thanks! It made me stop waiting and act sooner than I would have. You guys are the best. He had only given me .50cc, and he took out half of what he gave me. It made such a big difference.
19. I am very early days, two weeks post-op as of today and I am not seeing the results I expected. I was really hopeful because i lost 14 lbs on the preop diet, but week one I lost 3.5 lbs and week 2 I lost 2.5 lbs for a total of 6t lbs post-op. With the 14 pre-op Its a total of 20 over three weeks so I am not sure what I am complaining about but I expected more since calories are so low. I am tempted to chalk this up to age, or unrealistic expectations, but my surgeon told me way back when that I might lose 30 lbs in the first month, and that doesn't seem possible now unless I include the preop weight loss and even then it might not be possible. I've gone back to work and the increased activity of that may help accelerate the weightloss, I hope. I would love to hear how others our age (58 at surgery) did in the very early days. Best Regards, Barry

confuse about fills and average weight lost

I was banded on 12/29/09. My starting weight 228lbs I've had two fills. My first fill was on 01/19/10 for 2cc weight loss of 14lbs, My second fill was on 02/01/10 for 5cc. My weight is the same no weight loss or gain. I have my third fill on 02/15/10 I really haven't felt much restriction. I have not tried to push the boundary either. My band only holds 11cc I only have 4cc left so I hoping the next fill I'm able to loss more weight.:frown:

24. A new breakthrough secret is all you now need in order to forever shed countless pounds, stay healthy, and add many years to your life! A lady doctor from Arizona has blown the lid off the best-kept secret in weight loss ever discovered -- and this has the whole diet food and drug industries turned upside down and in nothing less than a torrential uproar. Her name is Dr Suzanne Gudakunst, and she's marching to the beat of a different drum. And no, nothing about her "secret" is difficult -- nor does it require that you do something completely out of the ordinary or anything unnatural. Instead, the Arizonian boasts proudly "...this is something that I caught onto just before 2002 when there was so much research and exploration going around concerning the human colon and digestive system working in harmony with nutritional absorption, and I started doing independent studies just to test things at first ... but which I later expanded on after seeing some fantastic results." This same woman medical practitioner went on to accurately determine a definitive correlation between harmful plague and parasitic infestations of the human bowel tract, and people suffering chronic obesity -- and who despite intense diet and exercise appeared to be unable to lose any weight whatsoever. Over the course of six years the Arizona doctor developed a number of natural treatments for the removal of these same harmful, even life-threatening plaques and rapidly reproducing digestive parasites -- and when applied to even worse-case patients suffering extreme obesity (98% of which were in immediate danger of dying) she saw a 100% effectiveness and success rate. She then borrowed from her research on the severely obese, and applied the same strategies on milder cases of overweight persons -- only to find the same effectiveness and quality results as described above (although the individual weight loss per subject wasn't nearly as much as those obese patients 100 lbs to 200 lbs or more overweight). So powerful is her secret that she's able to reverse diabetes, rid illness altogether in people suffering from cancer (linked directly to poor diet and overweight factors), as well as an elimination of an entire spectrum of serious and otherwise life-threatening diseases. Nearly 100% of all her case subjects were told in the alternative by "conventional doctors" that they either had just months or years to live, or they would never live a life anything resembling remotely a "normal" existence -- yet after applying Dr Suzanne's treatments saw a complete contradiction to others doctors' prognoses. Again, nothing about her secret is unnatural or requires someone to do any major action or modification in their lives. In fact, her entire treatment is based completely on built-into-nature 'protection agents' scattered throughout the world in the form of select herbs, extracts, and organic constituents, and which can be found in a variety of plants -- but when combined in specific combinations and carefully chosen amounts make for a solution to what is perhaps the world's worst ever plague: OBESITY (and the illnesses and diseases resulting from it -- or at least severely aggravated or exacerbated by it). Now to everyone else's great gain, whether suffering from just a few extra pounds and inches, to those extremely fat and overweight, this brave, bold lady doctor is releasing to the general public her secret for forever destroying the tight unrelenting closed-fist of obesity's stronghold over the now more than 40% of Americans labeled obese, and others worldwide. But she's not promising any of us for how long. Some experts and sociologists suggest that in the bigger scheme of things, the world will never tolerate a discovery of such magnitude, any more than it would be realistic to expect a car that runs on water (even if very real) to ever become commercially available to the general public for day-to-day use. One well-respected and famous diet & wellness author wrote years ago that if anyone ever "truly unlocked the keys to permanent fat loss, they may actually suffer the same fate as JFK." It is currently available at: => http://brm2bkm.fatsecret.hop.clickbank.net ...so you may want to head on over there now and get it and before someone or "something" gets it forever yanked out of ever getting in YOUR hand at least. It's in a very easily readable format and is quickly and readily understood and mastered by anyone with even a 4th grade reading level. While you're there, why not scroll down and review for yourself the huge successes others are now having with this incredible breakthrough in rapid, massive weight loss and extremely improved and enhanced health, now made freely available to the rest of us? -Becky
