    You don't need to change anything up. Its nothing you have done wrong. Just stick to your given plan. All stalls break
  2. Worrying is a waste of time. Try not to do it. You can loose a lot of sleep whilst worrying. Nobody likes doing the Pre Op diet, Its a form of cruelty that goes on and on. If you want the surgery you will have to do it, especially as you have the fatty liver. My time in purgatory lasted 3 weeks, I wanted the surgery so badly, I slipped once and had to cross my fingers behind my back that he didn't open me up and say he couldn't do the surgery. Good luck with your journey.
  3. I seriously doubt they will say anything about your gain unless they specifically told you not to gain? Our weights fluctuate and they know that. My pre op diet wasn’t bad. I was allowed 2 shakes and then a lean protein low carb dinner (meat and veggies). Plus we had free foods like jello and pickles we could have if we just had to eat something. If I remember correctly we could chose between shakes and yogurt. And we were allowed to have broth. I didn’t love it but I wasn’t starving at all. Even if your is more strict because of your liver you just gotta keep your eye on the prize. I know I could do anything for a week or two in order to change my life for the better. And during that diet, if it gets a little touch check out the thread called “weirdest non scale victories” and see some of the changes you have to look forward to post surgery. Also, whenever you want to eat, hop on here and get talking. We are here to help you through it.

    Oh man, I'm so jealous of your progress!!! I lost 30 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Then I hit a 2 week stall and have lost much slower after that. In the last 5 weeks, I've lost 13 pounds. I lost weight faster when I did keto, so this has been frustrating. But congrats on your numbers!!!!

    I lost 30 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Then I hit a 2 week stall and have lost much slower after that. In the last 5 weeks, I've lost 13 pounds. I'm not one of the lucky ones that started losing quickly again after a stall, but I DO still lose. Just slower. But it sounds like you're in a stall. Try changing up what you eat or your exercising. I added extra exercise and changed up what I do, and that broke the stall. Good luck!!

    Worried about eating

    Every team and their plans differ so much you will get 100 different answers here. Mine was 2 weeks each phase. 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks super soft foods and then on to solid foods and slowly introducing yourself back into a normal balanced diet. I would just follow the directions of your team, if you struggle when you get to a particular stage reach out to them for help/guidance.

    Stalls happen to everyone. Sometimes they last just a week and sometimes they can last several. Some people even gain a couple pounds. Just stay the course. I know it’s hard but this process works if you stick to your plan. Just try to trust it. Stay off the scale for a week or two if it’s messing with your head too much.

    I'm sad VERY SAD!

    I think we all have this reaction after the first few weeks. I was not really comfortable with eating and drinking for over six months. I recently took a trip to Cancun and was able to eat when I wanted and drink what I wanted. The drinking has gotten infinitely better after 10 months or so post surgery. I can pretty much drink however much I want. I usually nurse a drink before and during the meal and hold off about 30 minutes after but I was able to maintain my buzz all day/every day in Mexico. Sometimes I wish I could really indulge in food but it is not worth the pain and the guilt. I also like being a size 34 waist vice a 48 or 50. There are some foods that I can splurge on like popcorn, nuts, tortilla chips etc from time to time when I get the munchies but it is very rare that I will do that. Since it is summertime, I have been eating a LOT of watermelon which gives me the hydration I need and a nice sweet, low calorie snack. Things get much, much better....hang in there.

    2 Weeks Post op

    Yes ma'am! Our bodies/bellies are weird now. I don't know what surgery you had but I had bypass. I have been lucky and pretty much able to eat anything but still sometimes something gets me. For example, I can eat chicken. Any kind.. cooked any way you can imagine but I can't eat cold. I have tried twice and was sick for hours. Just have to learn as we go and if it is something important enough you can always try again a few weeks/months later.
  10. i gained a couple pounds from my first consult to my pre op appointment. It happens. as for the pre op diet... Yea its not easy. i dont know how long you will be on yours as you havent posted any weight or height in your profile but most common is 2 weeks. yea it sucks the first few days. After about 4-5 days you start to adjust and are not as hungry anymore. and yes that hunger feeling is horrible. but just think about what it will be like after surgery. I am almost 3 months post op. Rarely ever hungry. I gotta remind myself to eat and drink. Just gotta get thru this final step of the pre op diet and you will be golden.

    I was also around 480 when I started. Here is a rough timeline of my stalls. Had surgery 8/16/21. Lost 24 pounds in the first 14 days. Lost 6 pounds over the next 19 days. Lost 41 pounds over the next 49 days Lost 11 pounds over the next 24 days Lost 8 pounds over the next 11 days. Once you come out of this stall, you are going to lose weight at an incredible rate. Keep doing the right things (getting protein in, keeping calories reasonable, stay moving) and the stall will end.
  12. Hey everyone! I'm new here, but have been reading a lot of the posts. I just created my profile. My preop for surgery is next week and my surgery is scheduled in August. I'm in complete panic as I gained weight since this process started back in February. I'm worried the doctor and nutritionist will berate me or worse, kick me out of the program and deny my surgery. I'm also really stressing about this Pre-Op Diet. I don't know all the details yet about my specific diet, but I'm sure it will be very harsh. I have Fatty Liver Disease and my liver is incredibly inflamed. They are going to want me on the diet immediately after meeting with them and I just don't know if I can do it. I don't like being hungry, it's one of the most uncomfortable feelings to me. It just sounds like sheer misery is in store and I'm scared about all this. My husband is being as supportive as possible, but he can't seem to stop snacking in front of me! Please tell me your experiences with pre-op appointments and the diet.

    Thats called the 3rd week stall... happens to EVERYBODY. sometimes it last a week. Sometimes it last several weeks where you wont loose much or any weight. and this will happen several times throughout your first year. your body is adjusting to the new calories

    You have not stopped losing and this is completely normal. Stalls WILL happen (just do a search here for "stall" and you'll find literally THOUSANDS of posts). Follow your plan, and give it time.

    2 Weeks Post op

    Ok guys & gals so I'm new here. 2 weeks post-op and I had my follow-up yesterday. I'm doing well as far as getting the weight off, I'm down about 20 lb. I tried my first bowl of oatmeal yesterday and only had two bites. I got so sick and threw up all day. I'm so afraid to eat. I've done well on liquids and did not deviate not one time.     June 2022 surgery buddies

    I'm two weeks out from surgery today and 100% not interested in any food/liquids. My sense of smell seems to be increased and most smells are making me feel nauseated. I have another 8/9 days left on liquids before I can move on to soft foods. I had been looking forward to that, but even know I'd be okay not eating ever again. Currently, I'm struggling to get in one Fairlife shake a day and about 4oz of soup.

    At six weeks post RNY, I went to the Turks and Caicos for a week. Absolutely no problems. Just preplan for food and you should be good.
  19. It’s been 3 weeks since my ESG procedure. I was concerned about the 4th of July but I got Covid. So, I’ve been isolated upstairs 🥺. But all is good. Felt bad for about 2 days, now getting better Everything is going well my procedure. No issues getting water, tea or coffee in. I’m typically over 120oz a day. Protein is primarily from supplements iso pure and Core / Fairlife. I’m sure missing the standard Fairlife Protein shakes. The 30gr of protein per bottle. I can’t find any at Sam’s or Costco. I’m now ordering on Amazon at nearly twice the cost. Although a lot cheaper compared to eating out lol. Anyone else having a difficult time finding it? Let me know of any locations. My weight loss has been going well. Pre Surgery weight 336 Surgery weight 331 Current Weight 307 My goal weight is 270-275. Same as my college football weight. I’m not hungry but when I smell food, I would love to grab a bite. This week I start soft foods. I’m sure my weight loss will stall a bite as I’m sure most was still water. Good luck everyone If you’re looking into ESG, this is still a relatively new procedure. So far, I would fully recommend it. The procedure was quick. I left my hotel at 6am and was back in my hotel room by 930am. No cutting! Only feeling gas pains. Some nausea but not bad. The first few days I was hungry. Since I was tolerating everything, the doctor increased my protein to 120g. Mind you, I’m 6’7 at the time 330. Procedure was on Wednesday, flew home Friday and flying for work on Sunday.

    I took a day trip the first week after surgery. I just packed a small cooler bag with waters and protein drinks. We went to lunch and I had soup. Walked around the outlets shopping, I did pretty good just got tired quick. I have since spent weekends away out of town, now onto normal foods. You just have to look over menu's and don't hesitate to ask for substitutions. I ordered a side of broccoli and took 1 bite and realized it had so much butter it was ridiculous. Now, I always remember to order my vegetables plain or get fresh veggies on the side. I always take protein shakes with me, to make sure I balance and meet my protein goals.

    Post-Surgery Travel

    By week 7 you should be fine. But yes, breaks each day would be an idea just in case. You may find it helps to take some food with you Take a little esky with you to keep things cold & restock with ice each day (unless you’ll have access to a freezer to refreeze ice bricks). Pick up yoghurt from grocery stores, pack some shakes, meal replacement soups, cheese, jerky, protein bars, etc. just in case you struggle to find suitable protein rich & plan friendly food as you travel. Enjoy your trip.
  22. I’m a left over freezer not so much planned food prepper but the idea is similar. Most things I cook is three or four days worth (or longer) & I simply freeze two or three single serves. I freeze just about everything. Leftover vegetables, soup, meat sauces, meat balls, steak, lamb cutlets, pork tenderloin, chicken tenders, corned beef, etc. Just defrost & reheat. All I usually have to prep is vegetables & I can do that in a couple of minutes. I use a lot of zip lock bags but others use specific food containers. Have a look at the Food before & after thread, @Starwarsandcupcakes is an avid meal prepper plus there’s other general meal ideas too for home & eating out.
  23. I am scheduled for revision from sleeve to rny on Aug 10th. My question is, how soon is it safe to travel? I am scheduled for a long driving trip about week 7 post surgery. (Trip was scheduled months before gettin insurance approval and surgery date.) I plan on taking frequent breaks and overnight stops as well as sharing driving responsibilities. Is there any real concerns as long as I follow diet and fluid intake protocols? I recovered quickly after my sleeve surgery, but I have no idea what to expect with the revision.     Portion sizes

    Don’t worry, a lot of us felt that way some time even with support people about. You’re really learning how to eat all over again in many ways. The other challenge is discovering what works for you. You could do exactly the same as someone else but you struggle simply because you are not exactly the same psychologically or physiologically. Take our ideas & experiences as somewhere to start. Maybe try to find a nutritionalist close by who has experience with bariatric weight loss. Someone on here may even be able to refer someone. Also some bariatric clinics put their plans etc. on line so you could refer to them for additional ideas. Glad you’re giving soup another try. You may find that with other foods too. You easily ate it yesterday but today it’s no way. Then three days later it’s fine again.

    Stand still for 3-4 months now

    Your info says you had the surgery on May 20th of this year. That puts you at 6 1/2 weeks out. Maybe you need to just update your info. Beyond that, I would cut out the snacks, make sure you're watching your protein, carbs, and fats, and maybe increase your exercising. If you do it once a day, try twice a day. If you already do it twice a day, try doing different things per exercise session. Maybe add stretching or yoga.
