    NSV shout outs

I had this realization yesterday of a major NSV. I had a date last night and I needed to shave beforehand. Well, it was much easier to shave certain places than before. Thank you sleeve!!!

    NSV

Now that is a great NSV! For all these years assuming I have girly parts has been a huge leap of faith! I can't wait to meet my va jay jay! Fortunately, there have been persons in my life willing to perform reconnaissance missions and verify.

    Six Month Surgiversary

I just got home from Maui last night and was really interested to see what the scale would tell me. During vacation I decided to not put any limits on what I ate or drank, so had many treats over the course of six days ... I really enjoyed my food at Maui, but restriction kept me in good control of caloric intake. Plus, we were pretty active ... lots of swimming, snorkeling, and walking around in the warm Hawaaiian sun. So I figured the activity would counteract the splurges at the table. So ... my final weigh in was on July 5th (the morning we left for Maui) and I was 169.6 (just barely missed my July 4th goal of 169.0). Today I got on the scale, and O Happy Day, it said I weigh 167.2 -- a loss of 2.4 lbs.! Yay! That was a happy moment for me! I had a couple of NSVs this week too. The biggest one was how easily I now fit in a plane seat. I used to hate and dread flying, because I would overflow the seat and could barely close the seat belt, but now I have no problems at all with the plane seat or seat belt. That felt great! The second NSV came this morning -- my hubby went out to get the mail and saw one of our neighbors, who told him, "Your wife is the incredible shrinking woman!" LOL! I am now wearing a size 14 (or women's Large) and that is so cool! Life is really great with my sleeve!

    NSV

So I just updated my ticker and realized I have lost half of my excess weight! Woo Hoo! Now I still have a lot of weight to lose but this is a great realization! My doctor set my goal between 230 and 260 (started at 417). There is absolutely no way I would be happy with that! I set my goal at 175 and figured I would just reassess when I reached that. Did you all stick with your doctor's goal or set your own? I just feel 230-260 is too high. I've been at 200 before and wasn't even happy with my weight then.
  9. I went shopping yesterday and bought an XL t-shirt thinking that I should be able to wear it in a month or two... it fits now... NSV? I think so :)

  10. First off, yes I know that kids say the damnest things. I get that and I love that my 5 year old daughter is so innocent. But......... One of my "AHA" moments to have surgery was when my daughter thought I was going to break the toilet cause my butt was too big. I've had some great nsvs with her. Like that now she can wrap her arms around me and clasp her hands together. I'm about 4 1/2 months out and 150lbs ( 80 lbs lost), but strangely enough in the last couple weeks, I've started to feel self conscious again. I'm at a total loss of why this is. This morning I was getting changed and my daughter came in and started laughing and rolling on the floor. I asked her what was so funny and she came up to me, lifted my shirt and jiggled my tummy ( which is pretty jiggly at the moment) and said my tummy was like a huge amount of jello!!! Can you say ouch??? I know she didn't mean to hurt me and we had a chat about saying things about people (our second chat from when we were at the hospital and the kids and I met a man who lost both his legs - thank god he was okay with hers questions!!!) It just sucks cause I let it get under my skin and now I'm not sure how to feel better about it. Any insite would be great. Thanks

    July Butterflies Master Thread

Charlene, good luck with the sleeve and congrats on approval. If I were to ever lose my band, I would hope I could have the sleeve done. I don't qualify now, but I am afraid I would regain what I have lost without some kind of help. Cynthia, you have been through a lot in the last 4 years, but it sounds like you have gained wonderful family and an amazing man since then. Continue to fight, you are worth it! Update on my exercising...in the last 24 days I have only missed exercising 1 day. I am excited that I am able to stick to it and I was working on the elliptical mainly on level 7 as the lowest in the beginning and now it stays on level 13-15. I haven't lost any weight at all, but my husband and dad said I look smaller. Today I noticed my jeans were getting baggy and I realized I could pull them down without unbuttoning or zipping them! So, that is a surprising NSV! I hope I am able to keep it up. I am not sure I will be able to fit exercising in when I go to New York next weekend, but we will be doing so much walking that it will make up for it. Happy Bandiversary to us all and keep fighting!

have you been checking your measurements? Sometimes the NSV's help with the slow weight loss. Good luck!

    NSV For ME

That is truly an awesome NSV -- I have been in too many dowdy old western dresses to count -- can hardly wait till I get the chance to be a barmaid too
  15. That's such a cute story lol! Great NSV!
  16. My dad did that!! I saw my parents out shopping and waved. He looked at my all confused, then looked behind him thinking maybe I was waving at someone else!!! Then it dawned on him " oh!! It's my youngest daughter!!! ( who by the way seeing me ALL the time!!) I love those nsvs!!!
  17. Ah, when I broke my ankle last year I couldn't use the crutches for that exact reason. It was so depressing. I can't even imagine how many things in my life will change after surgery. It is the little things. Congrats on the NSV!

Major NSV -- I Now Weigh Less Than My Hubby!

Kris, Thanks for sharing! I was excited also when I weighed less than my hubbie, but I made that one BEFORE I even had the surgery, when I was still on the pre-op diet. My big NSV came when I returned back to California earlier this week. (I make my home in Iowa, but live and work in California most of the year.) I now weigh less than my roommate! What a thrill. She has always weighed less than me! I am taller than her by 3 inches, and she has always weighed less. But when I got on the scale this week, I weighed 4 pounds less than her! WOOHOO! What a thrill! I LOVE IT!And the BIGGEST thing I love, soon I will be able to shop ANYWHERE for clothes! I have already made my LAST TRIP to Lane Bryant!!!!!
  19. I've had a few NSV's this week: -could fit into a size 9 shoe (wore an 11 at one point) -people telling me that my XL size scrub top was too big -being called skinny mini at work and this isn't a weight loss victory, but a victory overall: my bf decided to join my gym!! now we're both getting healthier and spending more time together
  20. I read a post below asking what nsv stands for and I thought it would be great to hear about everyone's non scale victories (nsv) for the week. How did your sleeve make you smile? This week I successfully completed a whole hour of p90x without dying! It was hell, but I never could have done it 6 weeks ago. Also, since my last measuring june 8th, I have lost 33 1/2 inches from my body. Yay!
  21. ]Ok, so I am just over a year out now and I've lost a total of 62lb and a total of 31 1/4 inches. That is more than I could ever of dreamt of without my sleeve. I have NEVER lost more than 7lb on ANY diet and exercise programme before. Currently my weight loss has slowed down, so after asking you guys for your thoughts on this, I am gonna 'stop' watching what I eat for a month or so and just get on with it. When my head is clearer I will get back into the groove and see if I can, at least, make my surgeon's goal. In the meantime... here is a little montage of my last year. I hope this works 'cos it took me ages...lol I suppose a NSV at this stage is that I wore a pink dress in public, a year ago I wouldn't have even considered the colour pink!!

    NSVs?

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory - something like getting into that pair of jeans you've been hanging on to for years, or stuff like that. Don't feel bad, I didn't know either.
  23. I know it's a total noob question, but what are NSVs?
  24. Thought the approach may have been harsh, I think June was right on point with her advice to Tamz. As someone who is almost 6 months out, I can tell you it gets better. The first week was pure hell. The first month hell. And you know everyday it gets better. At almost 6 months out and 70 pounds gone. I'm happy I did the sleeve. I am even a happy slow loser. I think the only people giving you advice should be those who are AT LEAST 3 months out. 6 months if you wanna know about real remose. The first few weeks are NOT always nice, but you can have a really crappy early sleever talk you out of the best choice you can make for your life. Then in 4 months when Tamz posting NSVs and buying sizes in the misses section, you'll be wondering why the heck you listened to a new sleever. In my opinion.
  25. Ok so it was only in my back yard and in front of my hubby, mom and kids, but I did it!! A bikini top and 'boy' shorts (I think that is what they are called)! And when I walked past the sliding doors to the dining room, I had to walk back a few times to make sure I was really me! except for the scars on the tummy from surgery, I couldn't tell it was me! I wanted to cry! I purchased the top to wear under the sundresses that i got for vacation next week because I cannot stand to have my bra straps hanging out, and do not like the way the teens let theirs hang. I think that looks trashy! And at my age, I really do not need my bra showing! So I figured a bathing suit top looks much better! The girls may be empty sacks of skin, but they still need lots of support (c cup)!!!!! Only 4 pounds to a NORMAL BMI!!! and my personal OFFICIAL GOAL!!!!!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!
