  1. Yes! Dallas and Cinc, right? my husband is a huge Dallas fan! we will be watching. things will get better just got to get us through the next couple weeks or so.
  2. I'm sorry to be blunt, but to do that without your surgeon's say so is just out and out crazy. You are risking your band. The transition diet is there for a reason - its to allow your stomach to recover and the band to heal into place - so that its held firmly where it should be. You may *feel* fine. But it wont feel so fine if you have your band slip somewhere down the track because of what you decided was OK in the first few weeks. Every surgeon differs, so I wouldnt say that because i had liquids for three entire weeks that the next person should have to. But solids after 9 days isnt on any regime I've heard of.
  3. I'm following this thread. I'm in a similar situation. I am 6 weeks post op. Before surgery I trained hard as a triathlete, so swimming, cycling, running and strength training. I am currently following my post op diet but I have no energy. My program requires me to get 60-80g proteins per day. My trainer thinks this is way too low. I'm finding the bariatric program to be out of date. Lots of talk about calories, low fat, sugar free foods. Instead of balancing macros I'm taught to only look at calories. The protein is the only macro they talk about and only to stay within that range. My trainer says I need way more as an endurance athlete. I guess they are not used to dealing with athletes. I will continue to ask these question to the dietician but ultimately I will listen to my body. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I am 11 month out and I have lost 140 pounds which I am total excited about. About 2 weeks ago, I started having problems being dizzy. Well the next thing that started to happen I was passing out. Well I went to PCP and he sent me to the emergency room and they rushed me in because my heart rate was in the 30's. This was very scary experience because I never had any cardaic issues. Well they said I having a mild case bradycardia but they wanted to monitor it because I am too young for a pacemaker. Well they sent me packing home after a night in the hospital. Well 2 days later I ended back in the hospital for a week. What they found out was after the tilt table test was my heart thinks I stay weight 400 pounds and f.or some reason my body is not absorbing fluids or salt like it is suppose to. Well now I have turned into a little kid that cannot be alone because I am afraid I am going to fall. I am here pumping fluids and taking medication for being dizzy which takes the edge off. So back to the cardio on Wednesday to see what is nexted. I wanted to post this just in case another sleever is having the same problem. Any feedback would be great. I am a down about this situation
  5. you should definitely see loss in this time. my doctor required a two week pre op liquid diet and then the first day i was on clear liquids and then full liquids for a week and now i started mushies. I have lost 20lbs already so the liquids definitely jump starts the process. good luck!
  6. I had loss with liquids, most people do. Then I stalled until my first fill - that's Bandster Hell and most people stall or gain a couple of pounds back. Thankfully I got good restriction with my first fill, which I got 7 weeks after being banded.

    No period?!

I have not had my period since my sleeve on the 2/2/16 (six weeks ago) ! It was due at the end of Feb and nothing and still nothing... Anyone relates to this? Many thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm 6 months post op and have been dealing with a really annoying stall forever. I'm not complaining because at least it's not moving up but I've been working out almost every day and eating pretty well—I average ~1,000 calories and ~100g of protein/day following a mostly keto diet, though if I wanted to I could certainly eat more. I feel satisfied but not restricted and I tolerate literally EVERYTHING. Anyway, I just hired an INCREDIBLE trainer that Im really excited about! She is a world champion athlete, has a SOLID reputation, and a background in nutrition. She was honest with me that she isn't super versed in bariatric patients. My Dr.'s staff hasn't given me great info regarding nutrition either so I'm kind of on my own there. I will be doing intense physical activity 5 days a week and my trainer wants me to try to eat 1,600 calories/day. How in the world I'm going to fit all that in? I don't know! She told me to try having more frequent meals, like 8 per day. She's also changing up my macros drastically, at least for the first 2 weeks, by reducing fat intake and upping my complex carbs: 1,600 calories, 140g protein, 180 carbs, 36g of fat. Has anyone started a rigorous workout regime a few months out from surgery? Were you able to eat enough calories to sustain it? And most importantly, should I even be eating more carbs than protein? I'm like, scared to mess around with that stuff now! lol Thanks for any advice you can offer!

    Stall

    Dining ouy

My surgeon actually gave me a card to show when I go out. It says that I have had a surgical procedure that limits my consumption to 1/10 of an adult meal and basically ask the to reduce the price of my meal to senior or child's meal. Not sure if all restaurants will honor it. I'm two weeks out and tonight is the first night I will go out to eat. I plan to have soup but curious to see how I will do
  12. I'm so nervous! I have being researching this for a while and am finally ready... I get sleeved on the 30th of this month. I'm having it done 2 hours from where we are stationed at in New Orleans. I'm going to be sleeved at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. It been crazy with driving back and forth for appointments but it's worth getting the surgery I want since Tricare will not cover it off base. So I started my liquid diet a week ago and oh my is this hard!!!

    New Year's Resolution?!

My surgery was just 2 weeks ago so I still have a "fitness" goal/resolution this year because I want to make sure I do things right. Here are my resolutions: - Be active (gym, etc.) 3x per week when given the go-ahead by surgeon. - Read at least 50 books. - Spend more time with friends!

  16. Hello I had surgery on December 26, 2012 About seven weeks now.... On week number 3 ,I plateaued didn't lose anything for a week And also on week six..... It is a scary feeling.... I have lost 35 pounds but feel like I should've lost about 40-45 If I had not plateaued out...... I do know I've lost a lot of inches I went from a size 24 to pick extra-large in a skirt.... My doctor said I was not taking in enough calories (I was currently taking in 300 to 350 in )..... Wants me to get it up to 700 cal.... This was two weeks ago.... And still not at 700 cal but I am now at least a 550-600 Day.... This week I lost 3 1/2 pounds pounds.... So maybe he knows what he's talking about LOL

    eczema healing 5 days out

That is so great that your eczema has gotten so much better. I too suffer from severe eczema and completely understand the pain and embarrassment. My eczema was actually getting better during my first few weeks post-op but just last week when I was moved over to a regular modified diet all hell broke loose! I can't even sleep and Benadryl or topical steroids aren't helping I asked my dr about a wheat or gluten sensitivity and they kind of look at me like I have 10 heads. That was really the only difference between now and then. My allergist hasn't found and food allergies either. It's very frustrating! I've decided to kind of test this myself and cut all gluten out of my diet and see if there is any improvement.
  19. Being nervous is perfectly normal. The days leading up to surgery were exciting and scary at the same time. I almost backed out of surgery the night before and the morning of surgery. On surgery day, I sat in admitting thinking "I could leave right now and I'll only be out $500." Then I looked over at my husband who was equally scared as I was. We didn't say anything to each other - I don't even think we made eye contact. I just looked at him and knew this was something I had to do. I made the choice to walk down the hall and get things started. I am so thankful I didn't let fear win in that moment. I'm 18 months out and am finally living the life I was meant to live. My weight and food no longer rule my thoughts and my world. I'm happy and content. I smile A LOT now. I am active in my own life and not just in the physical sense. I'm more engaged with my family and friends. I'm a better wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, etx. I got a promotion at work - I don't think because I'm skinnier, I think because I carry myself a different way - I'm more confident, I'm not pissed off at the world all the time and I am more calm. I feel better physically - no more aches and pains. I do hot yoga 4-5 times a week, I hike, I work out at the gym, I like being active. I have a goal to do a 5K every month until November and I made a goal to log 1000 miles in 2015. I feel attractive to my husband - he never said anything about my weight, but one time I remember asking, "How can you possibly find me the least bit attractive?" Was it all sunshine and lollipops the past 18 months? Hell no! It was hard work filled with anxiety, second guessing my decision to have surgery, tears, anger, frustration, etc. It's been hard - I was not emotionally prepared to make this journey; I had not addressed my emotional issues towards food. I had to address those issues while recovering from surgery which was very hard. There are still days where I wish I could sit down to a bowl full of Pasta and awesome crusty bread slathered in butter and just go to town, but those days are fewer and farther between than they used to. This surgery is a life changer...for me it was one of the biggest decisions I had ever made in my life. Now, 18 months later, I know that short of marrying my husband and having my son, it was the best decision I could have made for al of us. Best of luck to you. You're down the home stretch! Let us know how you're doing...

    Final September results

So basically your 17 pound loss was in a single week? Awesome job! You should be proud of the progress you've already been making. Plus, I wouldn't discount the weight you lost pre-op. My ticker includes it. :-) I think about the weight that we gain from surgery from the IV fluids, and it makes me realize that you really did lose more than 17 pounds in that week since surgery.
  21. Mmmhmm bandster hell. Most people take 3 or 4 fills to get in their sweet spot. I'd call to see if they'll let you come in sooner- my doctor allows fills every 2 weeks.
  22. Date of Surgery 12/27/21 The plan was to have band removed and sleeve done on the same day, what was not planned was the removal of 6 inches of intestines because of blockage due to scar tissue from previous surgery, was inpatient for 5 days. Week 1 at home was a struggle with gas and just being overall uncomfortable, Week 2 a little better but still not comfortable probably to be expected I know right Week 3: small celebration something close to non liquid food, which my body rejected so there went that joy Week 4: body accepting non liquid food but oh does it make me pay for it (stabbing paid at to of abdomen, explosive bowel movements Week 5: Nausea, vomiting or some form of vomiting since its more motion but nothing coming up, so it is extremely painful and my stomach is sore to the touch Week 6: Repeat week 5 Does anyone know what can be done to help with the stabbing feeling following eating and sometimes drinking it is crippling
  23. had gastric bypass DS loop and my gallbladder removed on March 11th 2019. Since then I have gone from 297.7 down to 242. Total of 55.7 lbs. in 3 months and 13 days. But I’m the last 39 days I have only lost 10 lbs. is this a plateau? Is this still good since I have not gained any weight back? I’m feeling better in the last 2 weeks FINALLY.... I had surgery complications and medication changes and problems that caused extra pain and some minor depression, so recovery took longer than “usual” patients. I think? I don’t know how long other people take to get out and about, start regularly exercising (just walking and some 2 pound weights) But the slow down in weight loss worries me. Also, I have a HUGE fear of stretching my stomach back out. Every time I eat I get scared my stomach is stretching at the staples. I would love some feedback of your experiences, ideas, your suggestions, possibly re-assurance that I’m doing ok?? Also, I love to eat fruit, and I try to limit myself to 2 a day, but I worry about sugars... what do you all do? Thanks! Claire

    SF Syrups?

If you buy them from the manufacturer, make sure to search for online coupons. I found one that gave me three free bottles. The bottles are 25.4 oz or 750 ml so they last a long time.
