patyann replied to aroundthetown's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I recently got to say good-bye forever to LB too! It was a freeing and joyous moment! Congrats on your NSV -
Fitting into smaller clothes is juch a great NSV. Congrats to you. I was at Banana Republic and took size 2's into the dressing room (they run 1,2,3). They were all too big! I needed 0s and 1s. It felt awsome.

I am SOOO Excited!!!!! Today I am 13 days post op and have lost 24 pounds since my pre-op appt. So about a year ago there were these super sexy pair of jeans at Macy's that were on sale super cheap. The only problem, I was a size 24 (when I sucked in) and the jeans were a size 18!!!! I thought, what they heck, they are cheap enough, I'll just buy them as GOAL Jeans. WELL... Tonight I was trying to find something to wear to go out ot dinner and I saw them and decided to try them on just to see how much longer it may be before I get to wear my "sexy Jeans" WELL............... They went OVER my hips without a prob, and as I grabbed the waistline and pulled the button to the hole, it buttoned perfectly easily without me having the lay down, suck in or squeeze myself in them!! I am SO excited! THEY FIT PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wore them to dinner just becuase I could and I feel great!!!! So heres to my FIRST NSV! What are some of yours you are expirencing?????

Just tooting my own horn here! Today I had NOTHING to wear, because all of my pants looked awful on me. So I took off my size 24 jeans from Lane Bryant (I didn't even have to unbutton them!) and slid on a pair of size 18 Levi's that I bought without trying on 3 years ago. They have NEVER fit me before! NEVER. I'm pleased as punch! They didn't even give me muffin top! So, now that I can wear Levi's I'm vowing to stay out of Lane Brant for the rest of my life! Oh the joys! My goal is now to be in a size 16 by September. Horray for me!

I am proud and excited to say that as July 18th I have officially joined the 2 century club! I am now down 204lbs since the start of this journey. I still can not believe it's gone as well as it has. I thank God for the success he has allowed me to see with this process. For the first time in at least 23 years I am under 300lbs. This takes me back to my early days in high school. I have never been at my current weight as an adult. I still keep expecting to wake up from this dream and find myself still carrying around nearly 500lbs of mass. This week has been full of NSV as well. My family and I went camping this weekend. One of the first things that hit me as I was setting up the camper was how much easier it was to do. No more struggling over the little things that most people do without even thinking about. For the first time in such a long time I was one of those people that was just doing things and not feeling physically exhausted or prohibited while doing them. I went canoeing! Yep, my wife, our daughter and I took out a canoe for a 3 hour trip down a local river. It was so much fun and an activity that I would have never attempted while carrying around my previous weight. I am finding myself being interested in sports and activities I previously would have never considered, biking, kayaking and scuba diving are now all on my want to do list. Thank you for reading and for the support and encouragement along the way.

LB's, You made me cry today!!!! .............I haven't really had any feelings about the surgery since I started the process of being banded, but today they showed back up. Reading your victories made me rejoice with happiness for all of us. I finally saw my FIRST NSV. Today, I had a pair of previous pair of tight pants from last summer on and they fell down to my ankles. YIPPEE!! Catch me if you can. Congrats. Everyone, Up twist

Fantastic NSV and on being a newly wed. Keep working that sleeve girl, you are doing great.

That is a HUGE NSV!!! I remember the first time I shopped at a "normal" store. It was Old Navy, and I tried on a pair of jeans "just to see" and they fit. I bawled my eyes out. The cashiers looked at me like I was crazy until I explained I had lost over 100 pounds and this was the first time I'd ever been able to shop there. You will have so much more freedom to shop now...and better sales! As for normal vs. plus sized stores...I'm also in between a 14 and 16 right now, and I haven't stepped into a Lane Bryant in over a year. Most stores carry up to size 16 (except for those super high-end teeny bopper stores which, let's face it, we probably don't even WANT to go in). So don't sell yourself short at a size 16! Kiss Lane Bryant GOODBYE and move on! Sure, at a 14/16 you COULD shop in the plus sized stores and sections, but after shopping there for so long why would you want to if you don't have to? Shopping in real stores is AWESOME! I fit comfortably in an XL, even have some Large tops. Different stores are sized very differently, so go try on some clothes! You will LOVE IT! P.S. I tried on a bra at Victoria's Secret a month ago (38D). It fit perfectly! I didn't buy it though, I couldn't justify paying $45 for a bra that won't fit in a few months.

This weekend is full of NSV's for me. Yesterday morning I was rushing around getting ready for my 8 am Zumba class - I totally FORGOT to drink my usual Breakfast Protein Drink before I went! Never in my life have I forgotten to eat. I occasionally chose to skip a meal when I was sick - but never just FORGOT. My body reminded me sharply half-way through Zumba when I got a little dizzy / faint feeling. I realized I must be HUNGRY! I sat down for a couple of songs, drank some Water then fininshed class - went home and ate breakfast. What a wierd thing to happen - FORGOT TO EAT! This morning the scale moved and I finally have a BMI of 29.9. I am NO LONGER OBESE - just OVERWEIGHT! Been a long time for this. Now to keep losing until I get to the NORMAL stage!

I love your new picture. You are one of my weight loss inspirations. Every time I look your ticker is down .5 pounds. It is so obvious how hard you have worked. Congratulations. Robbie Apparently you cannot edit subject line. Rachel412, I apologize for my dyslexic post and mangling your name. Sentiments still apply.

Oh that's a great story and NSV. I keep coming back to the boards (like too many times a day....) because I get sleeved on the 27th and I cannot WAIT to have a story like this of my own. Of course, I'm not a newlywed nor do I have a boyfriend but just any ole story about feeling good about my body will do. Congratulations to you! (and your hubby, haha) Keep us all posted! and please keep me in your thoughts on the 27th. With much aloha, Lulu

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
vickyd replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing well too. My weight loss has started to slow a bit but I got a Bodybugg for my birthday last week and I think it will help me figure out how to change things up to get things moving better. I've also started doing ZUMBA 3-4 times a week and am starting to become addicted to exercise! I also had a crazy NSV tonight... DH and I went shopping to buy me a yoga mat for a class I am starting tomorrow and he went over and brought me 2 50 lb weights and told me to pick them up...I couldn't do it...the thought that I carried that much extra weight on my body at my heaviest was unbelievable!! No wonder I had so many aches and pains back then! -
Today I went to Lane Bryant shopping for a dress for my engagement party next Saturday. I didn't find one thing I liked, but as I went past a jeans display I decided to try a size 14 just for the heck of it. They fit, but I am not paying big bucks for jeans that won't fit me in two months, so I put them back. I was just happy I could zip them up. Then I got brave. There's a NY&Co. a few stores down from where Lane Bryant is, so I decided to stop in and see what they had. I could feel some anxiety as I opened the door, since I can't remember the last time I shopped in a "normal" store. I tried on a couple of dresses in XL that also fit, but I wasn't crazy about either of them. Just the fact that I got up the courage to even set foot in there was a huge accomplishment. Yay me!

My first NSV (sort of)

That's a pretty cool NSV! I have a problem with water bottles now lol. -
Thank you Autumn. I am quite proud of myself. Congratulations on your acceptance into your Vet Program. hey you don't have to lose much to have a NSV!!! You will be amazed. Couple of things you should do before your surgery, 1) take BEFORE photos so you can compare 2) take your measurements - so that when you hit the 3 week stall, you can check your measurements and see there are things going on and you don't get as frustrated. Sheila

Sheila!!! THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!! Unfortunately I have no NSV's to report at this time as far as weight goes. But, I was recently accepted into a very prestigious Veterinary Technician program and start August 29th. I start my pre op diet tomorrow and I'm hoping that I will have some scale victories before my surgery on the 29th. I don't think I'll lose enough to have NSV's but we shall see! I'm so proud of you....keep up the great work!
-
I felt your joy while reading your post, congrats!! I am also embarassed to admit I teared up a little lol. What wonderful nsv's, and they give me so much hope. I'm so happy for you girl! :cheer2:

I normally do not tell people what size clothes I wore prior to my journey beginning due to being embarrassed. I should never have let myself get to that size - I guess it is what it is. I know everyone here has gone through the same things so I feel comfortable telling all you great people. I started out in a size 28 pants, 4X tops . I bought a pair of capri's to act as inspiration for me for after surgery. Size 20. I can tell you that today I am wearing those capri's to work. They are a little tight around my panni but other than that, they fit and I even have room around the waist. These are NON-STRETCHY capri's too. I am pretty darn proud of myself. Has any one else had a Pre-surgery NSV? Sheila
