The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......

LOL! I wondered how you ate so many taco's so early in the day, lol. I didn't do too bad today, here's what I had: B'fast- weight watcher's yogurt Lunch- 4 whole (pretty big) strawberries, 6 fresh blackberries, 12 almonds Snack- weight watcher's yogurt Dinner- 5 chicken nuggets  I go for a fill tomorrow, so I will be on liquids for 3 days. I haven't been feeling very good today at all. I will probably go see my family doctor tomorrow too. A while back, my son got staph infection from some shots he received at the hospital. He had a rough time with it but finally got rid of it. Well, after that, my dad got it too, on his arm and in his nose. He finally got rid of his and now I think I have it. I have a huge knot on my inner thigh that is red and infected. I also have a knot inside my nose that is infected. The whole left side of my face hurts and throbs. It's not fun and I feel pretty miserable. Hopefully I'll find out what's going on tomorrow. Hope you kiddo feels better too!
  2. I eat shrimp cocktail often. I make my own cocktail sauce using reduced sugar ketchup (had to search for it, but it is usually available in small bottles), horseradish, lemon juice. Just thaw and then serve the shrimp chilled but not frozen. Super easy. My big go-to is chicken salad. I do canned chicken, low fat mayo, green onion and grapes (cut up), with some curry powder and celery seed if I am out of actual celery. I only do about 3-5 grapes depending on size and just cut them up into small pieces, but they add so much flavor along with the curry... makes it taste AMAZING (my husband now requests this in his lunch - so I know it's not just me). Just made a pretty amazing fritatta the other night too. Tasted nice hot, but tasted way better room temp, so we only heated up the leftovers to take the chill off... sooo good! I did sort of a "kitchen sink" version where I threw in grape tomatoes, celery, bacon, onions and green peppers. Then added some cheddar cheese and followed these directions (had to add some cooking time as mine still was REALLY jiggly in the middle at their time, but you want a little jiggle as it continues cooking in cast Iron, but a pie pan would work well too): http://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/ultimate-easy-frittata-recipe-article And when I'm not feeling like cooking anything, I have morningstar farms sausages or griller patties in the freezer. I love eating the sausage with a scrambled egg, and the grillers are really nice topped with some cheese and a bit of mustard and with onions on the side (I love onions any way you can think of - raw, grilled, caramelized...). I also have a large amount of Kroger's carbmaster line of yogurts in my fridge at all times. They have some nifty flavors and are under 4 carbs I believe with only 60 calories per serving. And I also keep mootopia milk (there is also fairlife milk if you don't have mootopia available) as a fridge staple. I usually just drink that in the mornings for breakfast sometimes.

7 weeks post op and not hungry

90% of my hunger is "head hunger." I'm 2 weeks post OP and rarely feel true hunger (the stomach growling, aching hunger, the way hunger is SUPPOSED to feel when it is real). As far as protein, I'm getting plenty!!! I highly recommend a tasteless powder by "Genepro: next generation protein powder." The scoop is much smaller and you get a full 30 grams of protein. Plus it's less calories than most: 60 calories. I even put a scoop in my water, for real. I taste a hint of it but it is a clean, very mild taste. Add it to your broth if you're drinking that. You might try that. Powdered skim milk, peanut butter powder. Oikos zero Greek yogurt. All good options! Sent from my SM-G892U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Hello All, I have searched the threads for shakes but most that are mentioned have milk product in them (I'm lactose intolerant) I have also contacted my nutritionist and I have tried the ones that she suggest like plant based, I tried "Plant Head" a vegan protein shake and I thought I was on to something, two weeks later it was not agreeing with me anymore...Anyone out there have a very sensitive stomach like myself and have found a shake that works well for them please let me know. I'm 5 months post op and having a problem getting all of my protein in so a good protein shake would be great for me to add into my meal plan. I've tried yogurts and also a lactose free yogurt that I found at walmart and they make me ill. Right now my appetite is very low, I eat my 3 meals a day and every now and then I may have a snack in between meals. I can only eat between 2- 4 oz. at each meal and feel full. (It's funny because I DO NOT lose weight fast eating such a small amount) I'm okay with that because with thyroid and menopausal issues I' m so grateful to have lost what I've lost in 5 months Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
  5. Hey there! I had gastric sleeve surgery on 1/31/2020 and here's my story. I attended the free 12 week orientation classes June 2019 thru Sept 2019 at Kaiser. My insurance paid for everything and I had no issues getting approved. My only out of pocket expense was a $100 co-pay for the hospital stay. Wonderful insurance, I know. Luckily, I had no medical issues making me very low risk for the surgery. My surgeon recommended that I get the Bypass and I changed my mind on procedure the day of surgery and switched to the Sleeve. My reasoning is simple...I didn't want to reroute my intestines and I didn't want to chance vitamin deficiencies or dumping syndrome. I fasted on clear liquids the day prior to surgery and it was hell. I had an interview on fasting day and wanted so badly to stuff my face, being an emotional eater (i did get the job!). I went to bed super early the night before surgery because I had a massive headache and mood swings from fasting. My surgery was at 1pm and because of the fasting... I wish I scheduled a morning surgery. The nurse that prepped me for surgery was an idiot. Why on earth would I be able to pee for a pregnancy test after having no fluids since the day before?! I could barely pee and what I did pee didn't make it in the cup lol I got 2 tiny drops of pee in the cup and guess what? It was enough for the pregnancy test. The nurse stuck me 7 times looking for a vein. 7 times. Not just a poke either, like she was really digging. She tried my forearm, the top of my arm, and both hands before calling for help. I woke up in recovery in extreme pain, nausea and was thirsty. I said "I'm thirsty and my stomach hurts really bad" and the nurse said yeah you just had stomach surgery. I wanted to sock her in the face. They made me wait 6 hours for pain medication and water. The night nurses sucked and the day nurses were great. I used the call button every 1-2 hours for more pain meds which they could only give me every two hours. I called after 45 mins and said "did you give me a full or half dose?" lmao but I was serious. The built up gas hurt and my throat was sore. I tried really hard to push the gas out and ended up sharting in my bed. I walked often because I badly wanted to go home. Coming home was nice and I wasn't hungry but still thought about food a lot. I followed the rules and sipped my water and protein shakes and jello. I only took a week off from work because I wanted my routine back. The doctor told me it was too soon because of brain function is usually low this early on. He said "do you want to go back because you're bored or because it's a money thing" and I said "I'm bored as hell" and he said "then no, you can't go back yet." I didn't listen and have no regrets. I started taking the pill form of multivitamin early on because the the ones you eat made me gag. I slowly introduce foods as instructed and my staples are yogurt, protein shakes, salmon, cottage cheese, and veggies. I keep my meals simple. I had my 3 month check up today and I'm on track. I've lost 50 lbs total since surgery. I'm aware that weight loss with the sleeve is slower but I'm okay with it. Each week I can physically feel and see my body changing for the better. I exercise daily by walking 1-2 miles, I feel great, and I have more energy. This is the one and only time that I've had surgery. It was rough at times but overall a good experience. I am happy that I did it and have a long road ahead
  6. Hey i am 4weeks post op on Monday, if you can't keep up with protein don't worry as long you drinking enough fluids ideally with electrolytes as I think that's why you feel weak because of dehydration. Get electrolyte powder and add to ur water with water flavouring or squash, drink apple juice and any juices you like, have yogurts and make urself some meat/poultry broths and have about 3oz of that at each sitting ideally aim for 5meals aday and you will be okay. 4 Days Post OP

I'm not allowed tomatoes or tomato soup for the first month, but my first month is considered 'modified solids/full liquids' so I can have cottage cheese, soft cheese, yogurt, strained cream Soups, refried Beans, etc. Today was my first day for full liquids rather than Clear Liquids. I did well at b-fast with 1 oz cottage cheese/1 oz unsweetened applesauce. However, I tried a string cheese at lunch and couldn't finish it - I'm not sure if the feeling was "full" or if it was just too much too soon on my baby sleeve, but I was able to finish 1/2 oz of it and 1 oz of sugar-free chocolate pudding. I'm going to try strained cream of mushroom soup for dinner - an oz of that and probably another oz of applesauce.

    40's New Beginnings

Well, I'm turning 40 in two months so I think I'm close enough to join.... I had my surgery Nov 19 and haven't had any problems. Today I have officially lost 40lbs. There have been so many wonderful benefits and I am so happy I had this done. However, I still can't really eat much other than shakes, broth, and malt I meal. But I am finding new things to help everyday. Jamba Juice has a light menu with a sugar free yogurt blend that is fabulous. I can do decaf coffee with soy from most coffee places although I found Srarbucks decaf sits the best. I have been pretty moody but I am hoping that evens out and strangely my face has been breaking out quite a bit. I'm guessing it is low energy and hormones going crazy. Anyone else?

    Ready for mushies?!?

Onmyway, did your dr give you a timeline on when to change to the next stage? Mine was liquids for 1 wk (2 if needed) then 1 week mushies then 1 week soft then the next week regular food. I didnt switch all my food when i advanced to the next stage. Example--i still did all liquids but added some greek yogurt one day. Then maybe the next added sf pudding. Just go slow and try new foods. You cant not advance bc you are afraid of a stall or gain. You are healing!! That should be your focus. I was weighing myself daily or everyother day and i decided once a week only!! Right now i am just focusing on making good food choices, eating when im hungry and walking. Oh btw--best mushy meal ever some ricotta cheese topped with marinara baked then sprinkled with mozz cheese. Oh my goodness. So good. Beats a cup of chicken broth any day!! J Banded 9/22

our doctor allows yogurt as our source of protein for the first 2 weeks. we can also have milk, sorbet s.f. jello, coffee, tea fruit ice, popsicles and a few other things. The yogurt has to not have chinks of fruit in it.

    Port Huron Lap Banders??

Jenn.. I feel great today. Another steri-stip came off today so I have 2 incisions uncovered and 3 covered yet. Will be glad when the itchies are done. I'm able to sleep on my side and my tummy. I'm sitting here with my second yogurt of the day. I haven't lost anything in the last couple of days, but I've done the diet by the book, so hopefully some more will come off soon. I never got swollen and I am noticing my clothes fitting looser now. It's not uncomfortable to wear all my undies again. The first week I camped out in my nightgown and nothing else. Now I can dress for the day and yesterday was my first day back to my routine. I did an hour of volunteer work at the hospital, had a 2 hour flute rehearsal, did some work at the church for an hour or two, came home and did some work on the computer and then went to choir rehearsal from 6-7. Went out for dinner afterwards... I had broth. And then home to watch tv. I got to bed about 11:30 and slept like a log until this morning at 8. I feel 100% normal and am just waiting to get out of the clear liquid phase and into the "all" liquids.(5 more days!!) In a nutshell I can say that this experience has been all good so far and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Judy

    Givin' up the ice cream

Congrats smsm! You're doing really well and you have to lost weight to show for it. Yay! I ate some ice cream. Didn't help that we went to dinner at friend's house last night and guess what they had for dessert? Yep, ice cream. Wasn't too bad since I had been really good all day but it meant no weight loss for me today. Back in the saddle today, gonna try to make it all day on South Beach today. I need a jump start getting this worked out. I can already tell I'm gonna have problems since I don't have a simple, go to breakfast worked out yet. I just can't do eggs every day. I can have my yogurt, it's fat free with only 4 carbs but I usually have it with fruit. Guess I'll have to figure out how to eat it plain or something else to mix in it.

    March 2007 Bandsters

ACK... my mouth is still on fire. I've had four doses of the prescrip stuff so hopefully it will be better by this afternoon. Back at work today and will probably leave this afternoon when I start to get tired. I can tell the swelling is starting to go down now cause I'm hungry more often. I had 3 ounces of chicken breast this a.m. then a 15 g protein shake around 9 and then a sf jello a few minutes ago. I forgot to bring my chicken to work so I'll do another drink I guess for lunch plus I brought some kefir probiotic yogurt smoothie stuff too. My mouth is so friggin' tender that just about anything I eat or drink hurts... i think I'm ssssin' my words too. Tongue feel swollen. Soreness is SLOWLY but surely diminishing each day. I feel like I've been in a wreck every a.m. when I wake up and try to get out of bed. I haven't had any ibuprophen yet today but may break down and take some here in a few minutes. Surgeon and other fellow bansdters say I should start feeling about normal around Friday. Considering I am one week to the day today from the operation I'm doing GREAT. Driving myself to work and everything.

    April 30th!

Hi Michelle. I'm from CA, too, Bay Area! I haven't had any issues with dumping, but my first week choices are very strict. I am only allowed broth, strained cream Soups, sugar free Jello, the usual drinks (water, decaf stuff, Crystal Light, etc.), and of course, the lovely Protein shakes. On week two (Thursday!!), I can add yogurt, cottage cheese, no sugar added applesauce, and no sugar added pudding. I don't get to have hummus or stuff like that until Week 3 and after my first post op appointment. Hey, I read a great tip on here to make Protein shake fudgesicles in ice cube trays. I'm using the little medicine cups they gave me. These go down so much easier than the shakes and I feel like I'm getting a little treat! I'm sure loving the friendship and support here! Have a great day tomorrow, ladies! P.S. I am on leave from work until May 29th and not going back a minute earlier! LOL
  16. Tiny amounts of yogurt, cream cheese, peanut butter and banana blitzed in milk, strained soups etc

    Post Op Hunger

I woke up in recovery hungry, genuinely hungry. I would have eaten seafood if they'd offered it and I hate seafood. I'm one of that minority that didn't lose my hunger, in fact, I wasn't hungry before, it came back after surgery! Not fair! LOL I find hydration is important for controlling hunger. I had to have a stern talk with my body about how shakes are nourishment and head hunger was complicating the picture because I just wanted to chew on something. Sugar free popsicles helped. I was on liquids for 2 weeks post surgery, strict liquids, no cream of wheat or yogurt or pudding. I agree with Arabesque, distraction is your friend. As is drinking your shakes on a schedule and hydrating all throughout the day... I saved my popsicles for the evening, when I'm most used to eating a meal. Your doctor is mistaken if they assume being hydrated or having shakes takes care of hunger. It doesn't for everyone. Each body is different. Just remind yourself this is a finite period of time. Try warm broths to alternate between the cold, sweet shakes.

    December Surgeries!?!?!?

I'm in Tennessee. Going to start the diet then also. Because I'm diabetic I'll have either shake or bar for breakfast and lunch and I can have either small fruit ir yogurt for morning and afternoon snacks then light supper. What will your diet be like?
  19. jmacvgs

    Chewing and bite sizes

I'm 1 week out and started mushies today. My Dr told me that I should only consume foods/bites that are smaller than my thumb nail and to chew it until its the consistency of yogurt. Is that what you were told as well and do you actually follow this rule? I made myself 1 egg white today and it took me forever to eat the darn thing and it was kinda gross to chew/swallow it at such a Water, thin consistency. Not appealing. Don't get me wrong, I know there are foods out there that probably require lots and lots of chomping, but is it really necessary for everything we ingest?
  20. tigerbelle

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

my favorites during the soft foods stage were scrambled eggs (with cheese melted on top sometimes), peanut butter, chicken salad, hummus, yogurt, refried beans, other mushy beans

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

@bill1130 I am on my second shake for the day and I did have half a yogurt (as per my plan) but I am not allowed to take any pills pre-op so I haven't had any Vitamins in 3 days.
  22. dlappjr

    What's for breakfast?!

They might go good with a no sugar added low fat frozen yogurt. The outside chocolate is like a normal peanut butter cup taste. The inside is like they packed a pocket full of dry pb2 powder in it. Its very dry. Like, you might as well visit a desert and eat a plate of sand.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I can't deal with yogurt at all - it makes me gag! I've tried regular and greek; plain and flavored; regular and lite; fruit on the bottom; mixed with fruit; mixed with flavorings - you name it. It's weird - I LOVE sour cream and have no problem eating that but I just can't do yogurt. Tried it both pre- and post-surgery - YUK!! I wish I could since it would be another Protein source for me.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I buy a tub of Greek yogurt thats about 2 cups and add one packet of crystal lite for the individual Water bottles and 2 packets of splenda. Then I eat small servings for a snack. One tub usually lasts me a week. It is less calories and carbs if you make it this way than buying flavored yogurts, and its easier to dish up a small serving that it was eating half a regular container. I try to eat some yogurt every day. I think it helps keep me regular. My go to flavor is the raspberry ice.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

@@Bexsta everyone has different taste buds and it's ok to not like yogurt. I don't think you have to force yourself to eat it unless you just super want to eat yogurt. There are plenty of other nutrient rich foods with protein out there that you will love, and you can always get probiotics in other methods. =)
