How are y'all doing August sleevers!?
whit110 replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had mine on August 17, I have hit a stall as well... but I am still keeping to the plan. I work out 4-5 times a day. My meal plans go like this: Breakfast: Protein shake, or egg, or grits.. I trade off each day Lunch: some sort of protein meat, egg salad with lettuce boat, yogurt, some combination of those Snack: some sort of nuts, or Kroger Carbsmart Protein Drink Dinner: protein meat or a salad...I noticed I don't each much of a lot of salad. I work hard to keep my Water at 64 oz. But I do fall short. How long are the stalls for? Cause I have lost about 25-30 lbs... buy it seems to be at a huge standstill.... what about you guys? Protein snacks 3 weeks post op?
LipstickLady replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wasn't allowed seeds or nuts for 6-8 weeks and "snacks" were highly discouraged. I did eat hummus, yogurt, mashed avocado, warmed Peanut Butter, bisque soups', cheese'. I was still on purees' at three weeks. In fact, I'd just started it. -
Genepro ideas?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to tmedi7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I add it to my yogurt, were i can taste it a bit but nothing horrible. I also added it to Jello. On the batch i did, it settled to the bottom with a not favorable texture/flavor but again nothing you cant handle. I also add it to Protein shakes to super charge them, so i can boost my protein and so i can be used to the flavor during the first couple of weeks post op. -
Sleeved 9/19 How are you feeling?
gemigirl replied to Spectra13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had my worst day BY FAR - and all because of poop. I'll spare the gory details but I spent a total of 3.5 hours on the commode today trying to birth this thing. It was misery. Got my Water in but could only manage half a Premier and a couple spoonfuls of Greek yogurt. From here on out its miralax, a stool softener and a couple shots of prune juice every day. Protein snacks 3 weeks post op?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you cleared for nuts and seeds? I wasn't cleared for those until much later. At three weeks I was still on soft foods. It is very important to follow your food phases post-op. I don't know what academic and onions is. Boiled eggs should be ok but may be too dry this early out. At three weeks, soft and moist worked better than dry food for me. That early out, Snacks and meals for me were the same foods: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, Protein shakes, etc. -
When can I start having dairy products?
RickM replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The basic rule for these questions is, what does your doc's program say? My experience has been that dairy is no problem at any point, and had yogurt in the hospital, and had milk based protein shakes, yogurt, eggs, soft cheeses, etc. from the day I got home (which is on our plan, but more advanced than many). Of course, some will wind up lactose intolerant, so that needs to be handled by either avoidance or using Lactaid products. Sour cream may be a bit caloric and low protein for use in any quantity, but should be tolerated ok. -
When can I start having dairy products?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started eating dairy products when I was on full liquids. As long as the texture is appropriate for the phase you are on I am not aware of any specific prohibition against dairy (unless you are lactose intolerant). Greek yogurt and cheese are pretty much staples for me. -
I think it must be week 3, when we can finally put real food in again. Yogurt, mushies, etc. (Don't go eating anything). Our bodies come out of the "malnourished" state.

Two weeks in and I feel horrible all the time.
LipstickLady replied to aryn123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt very much the same and it turned out that I had a slight stricture. Absolutely no big deal -- in fact, I chose NOT to have it corrected. I stayed on liquids' (protein' drinks!) for three weeks and then went to pureed' for two. It was slow moving, but at week three I was doing fine on just my shakes' and some greek yogurt, hummus, refried Beans and other really loose foods. Concentrate on protein' and liquids. Gatorade 50/50 with Water was a HUGE help for me, too. You will get there!! -
How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?
Cluelesswinner replied to thomas1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First I like to say I wish you all the best on you weight loss journey. I too notice my sleeve seem to be larger than most. While others could only take a tiny bite I could already eat a cup of yogurt. Others would eat a half a teaspoon of cottage cheese, while I ate a half a cup. My surgeon said he uses the same size instrument on all his patients. Some stomachs are larger than others. I'm barely at stage 4 (soft food with the transition to solid food). I'm afraid to eat too much for the fear of throwing up. If my stomach is larger than most, I hope it will shrink (especially since I'm barely eating around 900 calories). If when I'm 7 months sleeved (as you are) I will go back to my surgeon and request the Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass. My good friend suggested I get that surgery, instead, I choose the Sleeve. Thomas, again I wish you all the luck and God's speed in your journey. -
@@Armygalbonnie, maybe you missed Babbs' second post... See? These are the 'hacks' I was talking about! Find whatever works for you. For instance, I find a little bit of low sugar fruit like berries go a long way when I get a hankerin' for something sweet. For a chocolate craving, I'll bring out the big guns and have a square or two of low sugar dark chocolate. Or a chocolate flavored Greek yogurt. Those things work for me.

Talk to me about purees...
KristenLe replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@leebick Refried Beans with cheese (and sour cream) don't have to be pureed - they are the right consistency already. I would blend chili though. I refuse to puree meats too - and my plan suggests drinking Protein shakes during this time and not expecting to get protein from the purees. You could have hummus, blended/cream soups (no Pasta or rice though), cottage cheese, yogurt, egg salad, ricotta bake, mexican dip bake, buffalo chicken dip bake (use the canned chicken and blend it first), -
Talk to me about purees...
heidikat72 replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you look at the blod "the world according to eggface" (she's the lady that came up with the ricotta bake recipe) she has a whole post devoted to the puree stage. Refried Beans are fine. If you have chili - puree it, when you get to soft foods you can have it whole. Things I had: tuna or canned chicken or salmon blended with a little plain nonfat greek yogurt. Those flavored tuna pouches are great for this! ricotta bake, refried beans, small curd cottage cheese - no need to puree, just chew really really well, and greek yogurt because you are only blending small amounts of foods, I used what is called a mini chopper - looks like a teeny tiny food processor, and you can pick them up for about $15. http://www.target.com/p/black-decker-1-5-cup-mini-food-chopper/-/A-12705256?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=bing_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Appliances%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Appliances_Kitchen+Mix&LID=700000001230728pbs&network=s&device=c&querystring&gclid=[*GCLID*]&gclsrc=ds -
At three months I was still on soft foods and could eat about 1.5 oz of dense protein or 2 ounces of very soft food like yogurt. I remember going out to dinner and ate one medium-large sized scallop and could not take another bite. At six months I could eat about 2 ounces of dense protein such as chicken breast or turkey burger, Maybe 2.5 ounces of slightly moister meat such as grilled salmon. At a year out I could eat 3 ounces of dense protein. At 3+ years out I can eat 3 ounces of dense protein + 1.5 oz green veggies. High carb slider foods I can eat almost unlimited amounts, which is why I try very hard to just avoid them and not start -- because there is almost no stopping point. You cannot count on this surgery to restrict how many cookies or crackers you can eat -- at least not for long. Some people do keep that type of restriction, but many don't -- so don't count on it to keep you in line after the first several months.

I also like the Syntrax - both the Fuzzy Navel and the ... vanilla something, which I mix with unsweetened almond milk (lactose intolerant). The Eggface website has tons of good ideas for doctoring shakes and making things like jello-yogurt fluff and Protein powder ice cream. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I put in yogurt and mashed black Beans. I also mix it into sugar free Jello (mixed in the cold Water before combining with the powder and hot water). Mix it in all Soups. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My issue or is it his (the hubby)
jenjenp replied to Jen.R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat simple food and cook real food for my husband like I did presurgery. . He will drink Coca-Cola and eat shrimp scampi. I will eat tuna salad. Or yogurt. My problem. But he doesn't ask if I want chocolate or crap if he buys it. Stay strong. I'm 5 weeks out and have no desire to eat that stuff. I hope it's always this easy to resist. I'm 3 months out too and I easily get over 800 calories a day. Sometimes up over 1000. I am terrified of destroying my metabolism and being stuck on an extremely low calorie diet forever. My staples are lots of cheese, 4% cottage cheese, chicken + turkey (grilled, roasted, baked, ground), sashimi, yogurt, lamb, perky turkey Jerky. Whole milk in my coffee.

I put it in a small glass of V8. Great! I make a protein shake once a day, adding silk almond milk, 1/2 vanilla yogurt, ice, GENEPRO and SF Hershey's cocoa powder.

I make Greek yogurt and fruit smoothies with it. Have one every day and it's delish! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I use it in cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and cream of wheat. I notice it subtly changes the taste of the cream of wheat, but I don't notice it at all in the others.

Just got my shipment of GENEPRO Protein powder after reading a lot of reviews and posts on here about it! I had a TERRIBLE experience with the Proteinx that they gave me in the hospital (it's liquid unflavored protein) so I was skeptical to say the least. Turns out I mixed it in my Greek yogurt and actually enhanced the delicious strawberry cheesecake flavor! Anyone have any great ways they sneak their Genepro into their food or tips? About to hit the purée stage so any ideas would be welcome. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am three weeks out tomorrow and can tell you that once you get to the purée, cottage cheese, refried Beans, yogurts, etc. you will feel much better. I now eat something, 4 oz or less every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I'm mostly hungry first thing in the morning but I think it's because of the large number of hours without food. I sip a lot of Water and try to use Protein supplements in the water. There are many flavors available. Good luck, be patient! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
