Weight loss at 3 months post op
snapy17 replied to lf1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am 2 months post op & I have lost 11%. Percent weightloss is more accurate to compare as people start off with different weights. What are you seeking to find out ? -
Almost everyone does. It's temporary. There's nothing you can do to prevent it. You will not go bald. Just shedding. It will grow back when your weight stabilizes.

Congrats on the weight lost, it's amazing how quickly you are losing! I'm only a few weeks behind you in having vsg and I'm hoping to lose about 60-70 lbs at 6 months out. You are doing great, keep those voices quiet, and work on a plan that works for you.

Soooooo I have a surgical date...
KristenLe replied to courtknee_luv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@courtknee_luv Sometimes they give you a surgery date for a holding place so they can submit the paperwork (most authorization requests have to include a surgery date). I wouldn't go by what the coworker said - it sounds as though she's not telling you the entire story (maybe she didn't lose enough pre-op or gained during her supervised weight loss period). I wouldn't worry too much - hopefully there's a quick turnaround on your approval. Once you know the surgeon's office has submitted the request - wait a few days to call Aetna for a status. Don't hesitate to check up on it with both Aetna and the surgeon's office (confirm that they submitted it). Good luck! -
PCOS/Endometriosis
Luna805 replied to Mo3orLess1116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diagnosed with PCOS/Endometriosis before surgery. I’m only 2 months post op and have not yet noticed any relief as far as pain/symptoms go. I actually had a large cyst rupture 2 weeks ago. But, my Gynecologist is still optimistic that further weight loss might turn things around. His opinion is that it’s too early to determine if a weight change will help. But I did notice small positive results. First time in YEARS I didn’t break out in hormonal acne. My face always bloomed around that time of month and my skin is smooth and looks amazing. Ditching sugar, eating Whole Foods and limiting carbs to 20-30 a day I think is also helping. Sugar can make symptoms worse and I learned that on my own, nobody ever told me. I would of switched my diet years ago if I knew. Hopefully at my year mark I’ll be able to know if the surgery helped. -
I had my 4 cc band placed in 2003 and did awesome!!! Went from size 22 to 10/12 and maintained til January of this year when I suddenly lost complete restriction. The weight started packing on and unfortunately I am now up to size 18. But because of financial reasons I did not return to my band dr until last month. The last time I had seen him for a fill (2005) he documented that I had 2.5 cc but when he withdrew back, there was no fluid in band. He suspected it evaporated- I had my doubts but figured he's the dr and has probably seen it all. Anyways, I returned today for an additional fill which I was looking forward to since I had still not achieved any restriction from last fill. Today I was suppose to have started off with 1.5 cc but when the fluid was pulled- again, nothing. Therefore they only added 1 cc today and I am to return on Monday for a confirmation of a leak. Both fills were done under fluoro and the before and after pics showed the same thing- no restriction before, restriction after. For anybody that has experienced this could you please let me know what happened in your situation so I kinda know what to expect from this point. Will I have to have the whole band replaced or what? I'm not afraid, just kinda would like to know what my options are if there is any.

anyone feel like they need restapling
Inner Surfer Girl replied to tamila0624's topic in Rants & Raves
So, let me see if I understand your question? You feel you may have gained a few pounds so you want to have more surgery? First, you either have or haven't gained weight. What does the scale say? What does your doctor say? Are you still in a healthy range? Second, are you following your food plan? What does your NUT advise? -
yes stretching but I still look small I just feel I gain a couple of pounds

Dr. very impressed with my progress, says I am doing all the right things, and is happy enough with my weight loss to hold off my 1st fill for another 3 weeks. Great news was he released me to go back to aqua-aerobics yayaa!!! Although I am not losing weight post op as much as I thought I would, I know that I will never weigh this weight again, so every pound off is a pound off forever! Looking forward to a lot of good things this year!

Backsliding due to divorce
Museum-Mama replied to SPI Tortuga's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First....HUUUUUUUUUGGGGG!!! You will get through this. YOU WILL. I did, and so will you. My divorce and the mess leading up to it is a huge factor in my weight gain. Do what you can to avoid this. It will only make you more unhappy, and unhappy with yourself. I don't know what circumstances are leading to the divorce, but mine was messy and I almost ended my life over it. It wasn't until I realized that this IS a new start, and i am no longer controlled/manipulated/emotionally abused by another, unloving person. Set a day that will be your RESTART. Not only should you change your diet that day, but start thinking about yourself differently. You are free to be you, to better you, and to find people who will life you up (and vice versa). But start with YOU. Focus on you and your needs. Don't fuss with the finding a date and such. That will come when you have emotionally healed. If you don't want to go out on a date a friend set you up with, then DON'T. You need to be emotionally ready for dating. So smack a friend if you have to. I did. She finally got the point. Also, you have us to lean on...sort of. Good for you for asking for help and encouragement. Trust me, hiding everything away is not very healthy. So message me if you need to. I'll be here. Take heart. Read my signature, and what Christopher Robin says to Pooh Bear. This truly did help me get through all the pain of my broken marriage and divorce...and another woman who went through the same things gave it to me. It had helped her too. -
Can Someone Explain This?
stuigi replied to otters38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, That would be way too much to lose in a month. Since the surgery on Jan 30th I lost 23 pounds. I had been yoyoing for decades, always creeping up in the pounds. I started dieting at my highest weight which was at 320 lbs last spring. I plateaued at 271 lbs for 3 months and was starting to creep up. That is when I finally decided to have this tool placed into my body. -
i always try to imagine myself thin, but i can't cause the last time i was a normal weight was when i was 7. i hope im hot haha.
-
Does anyone else just sit around and wonder what they will look like when they lose all their weight? I was always thin growing up. I rapidly started gaining weight after I had kids. So, I can kind of imagine what I will look like, but then again I can't. I know what I looked as a thin teenager, but have no idea what I will look like as a thin 30 something yr old mother of four. I can't even imagine what it must be like for those who have been overweight their whole life. Thinking of yourself thin is almost like meeting an acquaintance that you have never met in real life. You have this image of what they will look like in your head, but they may look totally different. For those that already have lost all their weight, are you more shocked at what you used to look like compared to now or more shocked more at what you look like now than what you used to? Hope that question makes sense.

First Just Want To Say I Am Sorry, For The Rant But Gotta
OleHippieGal posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
i am so disgusted with my insurance company right now. United health care. first of all they were the first ones i called to see if i was a candidate for the surgery, they asked me some questions like what was my BMI, how long had i been over weight. that i had to go to a seminar and join a support group. which i answered yes to all. I did all the things the surgeon had me do. had the chest xray, had my EDG endoscope done. had the pshyc evaluation everything, then the insurance gets all the paper work turned into them at the clinical services area and they deny me because they say that my TSH which is thyroid blood test done. which it was. because when they did the blood test it is right on the Quest diagnostics paper work that was sent back to us. and that i had to show proof that i was in a support group which i did today. i think i am losing what is left of my mine -
OMG My Home Scale is a Liar!
Ylime replied to Love2Travel816's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a scale I love: Yunmai Smart Scale But I really want this one, because it's so pretty: Digital Bathroom Scale I don't use all the body measurement features all that much and I rarely sync my smart scale up to my phone since I use other apps to track both food and weight. Plus - This is an important lesson to learn - If you are the type of person that likes to take pictures of your scale for social media purposes (or this board), note that the smart scale I posted above is REALLY shiny. And if you're a person that likes to take pictures of your scale while standing on it naked, your nakedness will be reflected in the shiny scale and thus on your social media page. (Not that I have any experience with that or anything) -
Yes my stomach gurgles which is the same for anyone with gastric surgery, no i dont have reflux or burping unless food is stuck which is rarely .. Its my choice if i chose to put the weight back on, i am in control of what i eat and when, same with anyone who has had gastric surgery. The faster route is a bypass of course but with greater risks from surgery and complications so use the seminar to build up as much info as u can to make an informed decision as to what will be right for you as a busy mum

Well, that's 7,000 extra calories in 2 days....the food must have been REALLY, REALLY good and REALLY, REALLY rich. Seriously, a portion of that is Water being held by your body. You had no control over the preparation of any of the food that you ate all weekend. Likely there was more salt that you use at home. Just drink your water as usual, get what exercise you can (maybe free weights or something like that?) and the 2 pounds will be gone in no time. Weight Watchers says you are good if you are within 3 pounds of goal. You did fine! You just have to rein it in and see what happens. I'm predicting the 2 pounds will be gone by Wednesday or Thursday.

3 Days, We were invited to the rehearsal, the wedding day, and the day or return travel. The weight would be off today if I could get outside and run in this Soup, but have to let the foot rest another day. Now that I mentioned it, it probably was the rehearsal dinner that did me in. I did good on the wedding day and the travel day back, but the rehearsal dinner was at an Italian restaurant and they served Veal that was excellent, first time I've had it since surgery.

Help a Noob out...Please?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to PurpleDiosa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi PD, Post op for the first few days I was in the hospital. Likely you will need to find someone to care for your children during this time. I was quite weak too due to the lack of food and nutrients I was getting though it wasn't dibilitating. I was back to work in about 3 weeks for what I recall. You should ask every single question that comes to your mind. Keep a note pad with you, so you won't forget any. Write them down as soon as you can. Our brains can zoom a mile a minute during the pre-op phase with so much data and information! It will be easy to forget what you wanted to ask. As far as coffee, wean off it slowly. It took me an entire month to function without it. Going all at once you will find yourself miserably and all headache-y. No reason to put yourself through any extra misery when it can be prevented. One last thing you should know: This is NOT the easy way out. Your life is not going to miraculously become better post-op or once you reach your goal. You will have to work really hard to get to goal and you will have to work even harder to stay there. That said, I do not regret getting my surgery! It has saved me from gaining all my weight back and more like the old days. But I can eat a lot of bad foods if I don't watch myself. I can't eat too much of the good stuff though. So food choices will be super important. Good luck! If you ever need any questions asked, I'm around. -

Not qualified for a surgery. Yet
Djmohr replied to BananaSplit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@BananaSplit Please please please don't gain to have the surgery. Exercise alone will not get you there. With a 30 BMI, you can do this! But 90% of weight loss comes from diet with exercise being a much smaller portion though still really important. If you have that good habit built you can begin to change your diet to get rid of this extra weight. Go speak with a nutritionist, they really really can help you. Moving toward a high Protein, good carb diet is the way to go. Learning about portion management is critical and lastly staying away from sugar, rice, potatoes, Pasta and bread also critical during weight loss. Here is the thing, if you had this surgery, you would have to change your lifestyle to the above in order for it to be successful long term. So, although I am very thankful for having bypass, if I could have done it withou surgery I would have. My BMI was well over 40 and I had almost every comorbitity. Gaining weight to get there will only do more damage to your body. I hope that you find the best solution for you, I am just saying having your insides cut out or rearranged when you are not morbidly obese seems like a risk you don't need to take. This is just my opinion. I wish you all the best! -
Just wanting to see what I'm looking forward to
AshNic posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey, I was wondering if anybody would like to tell how the sleeve changed their life with PCOS. I am having my surgery somewhere between October and November and am struggling with trying to get a grip on what will happen after surgery. Is it easier or harder after surgery to lose weight with PCOS? I appreciate everything and thank you ahead of time! -
exercise, economy, and ugh
soxaholic replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can totally empathize. My membership is $64/month, and with this economy, I feel it's too much of a luxury (although can you really put a price on health?). I know a few people who absolutely swear by Turbo Jam. I have been looking into it for a while, and I'm finally going to buy it. The reviews are phenomenal if you don't have knee problems. It's a combination of dancing and kick boxing; really high-energy and upbeat, hip-hop music. It goes for about $80 for all the DVDs and weight gloves, but you can find it a bit cheaper on E-Bay. Slightly expensive, but over the long run, much cheaper than the gym! I can't wait for my exercise ban to be lifted...3 weeks to go!
