    Nsv

Hi- For years I had been an avid hiker, but for the last 10 years I have been too fat to hike. I figured I would try it again. I went out this morning for what was supposed to be an hours walk-well, guess who got really lost? I took about three hours to get off the mountain. But I did it!!!!!! :whoo:It was hard. My calorie monitor watch says I burned about 1700 calories. Now that's a workout. Now I want to go back ASAP to find out where I messed up!

    Best One-Year Anniversary NSV

That's great lessnless! I can't wait until I'm even 150lbs. It's been really slow going for me. However, I do have a NSV too. My work does an Employee Appreciation Day for us at Lake Compounce Amusement Park. I went last month with one of my co-workers who had the gastric bypass 2 weeks after I had my lapband just over a year ago. Anyway, when we went before our surgeries last year to the park we couldn't fit on any of the rides except for the Ferris Wheel. In which we were afraid of exceeding the weight limit with the two of us plus 3 girls under the age of 12. Well, this year we were sooooo excited like a couple of kids because we were in fact smaller than last year. The true test was the flying swings. We got in line and waited to get on. The gate opens and we go running in (yes, I said running) with the rest of them and picked out our seats. WE FIT!!!!!! :thumbup:Not loosely, mind you but we weren't stuffed sausages if you know what I mean. So I guess even if the scale isn't moving the inches still are. It would just be nice to see the scale move too.

    Any February Sleevers?

Oh, that's too bad you are both having abdominal tenderness. I have no issues there since 2 weeks out. So I'm doing fantastic. My weight loss is a little slower than I'd like, but I'm sure most people feel this way. But I feel really good. I had a period of low energy and weakness, but I believe B12 shots have taken care of that. My stomach is great, able to tolerate everything I throw at it. I'm loving having such a small stomach capacity. It keeps me from self sabotaging too much even when I give into cravings. I'm also loving that having no physical hunger, only head hunger makes those cravings easier to control. NSV - I finally figured out protein shakes and vitamins/mineral that are working for me. I became intolerant of whey protein about a month ago. That eliminated most shakes, powders & bars. I'd also not taken my multivitamins & calcium regularly because they cause extreme nausea. Now I've found premade protein shakes that agrees with me, and tastes decent. I've found multivitamins and calcium supplements that don't upset my stomach. I'm now able to get in all my required vitamins and minerals, plus the additional pills like my ppi, stool softener and probiotic & meet or at least get close to my protein requirements!

    October 100 Mile Challange!

YAY a bike!!! Love it! And yeah that is a bummer about having to "pad" it because you don't have any fat down there anymore...wait that should be a NSV! Haha! At least you can leave the pillow behind when you are done and not have be a permanent part of your body! I just heard something on the news today about fitbits (maybe from the Today show?) anyway they were "testing" devices and that one rated pretty high as far as "accurately" counting calories burned etc. Great job, and good luck on your upcoming surgery!
  6. Congrats Veronica!! everyone is different. I keep have to reminding myself the band is only a tool- i have to do the work- meaning stick to the diet, and no grazing ( I'm a terrible grazer!) But have found other things to do instead of eat. (Housework only if I'm desperate!). The fills will increase as we lose weight , so am more concerned about amount of miles walked, protein, calories, NSVs, and the scale. BTW, am down 1# this week to 235. ( Any loss is a win!)
  7. I am soooo glad I started this thread - so I can come back and visit it at times like NOW, since I am stalled again!! LOL Been at 300 now for a week.... but I am handling this stall MUCH better than the first....not wanting to go postal. Just realizing that I may not be losing as fast as I'd like, BUT, it's going to happen. And I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in over 3 years (NSV!).... SO, I am hanging in there!! How is everyone's else progress going???

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

Ok here is one more as some people o posted about plane rides and the small seats and seat belt extenders , well guess what I didn't need one either so happy for all of us as you can really see how much more length I had not a great pic, as I was slouching so my clothes are all bunched up , but you get the of this nsv . Oh and my face is getting smaller, as you can see I didn't and people were telling me they could se it in my face so it was time to take a pic and try and see it for my self, even though my eyes and mind still play that mind game of me being the big heavy , unhealthy me.

Well Lisa, you certainly beat my "spin" picture. Ridin the bull is gonna be a hard one to top. I think you're inspiring me to get back into losing mode so I can come up with a photoable NSV to top that! YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHAW!

Hi ya'll, Has anyone else been having trouble with LBT? I keep getting error messages. I guess they don't have all the bugs worked out with the new format. The scale was kind to me after my Mother's Day indulgence, and I was still at 173 on Monday, which was down 1 lb. for the week. My 16-year old daughter has been wanting to walk in the evenings, and of course I want to support her fitness efforts, so in addition to my spinning classes, I've been doing some power walking in the evenings. Of course, I'm getting nothing *else* done in my life these days *except* the exercise. Lisa, I admire your running. I actually tried it the other day, but the ol' knees reminded me that I was practically crippled with knee issues a few months ago, and we *don't* want to go there again. I also keep a fairly moderate fill level, but it's my own choice. The fill nurse at my doc's office is pretty lenient, and offered me .5 at my last fill, but I declined, and asked for .25. That's been perfect for me. I can still eat solid foods, even a little bread occasionally, but am able to keep my hunger under control. Karey, let us know what you think of the Body Bugg. I've heard really good things about those. My daughter just got a pair of the Nike Plus shoes. You put in this little device, which sends a signal to her iPod Nano, and tells her # of steps, calories burned, and let's her design fitness routines which it monitors on her computer. Pretty cool. Sandy, congrats on the 3# drop! And, yes, my blog is visible. If you go to my LBT profile, there's a link there to my OH profile. If you have trouble finding it, let me know. Mim, you're gorgeous *and* a computer whiz? Dang, what a combination! Congrats on being "normal"! Unfortunately, no matter how much weight I lose, I will always be slightly *abnormal*. April!!! It's good to hear from you! I'm so glad to hear your problem resolved itself, and that you've got your band in gear again. Don't stay away so long! Lifelongband, 7 lbs. in one week??!!! That's awesome, congratulations. You're really moving along. I had a really nice NSV this week. I was crossing the street, and a couple of guys drove by in a hot sports car, and one of them yelled out the window, "Lookin' good!". Made my day/week/month! Tami

Lisa: You might have gotten bruised from the fill. I would give yourself a little TLC. Platueas suck! I didn't lose any weight for 3 weeks and was getting very discouraged. Hang in there. It will come off! I guess the exercise and protien will speed things along. Notice any NSV's? You're probably getting smaller, ie. in inches. Good luck!

I'm down 5 lbs this week !! I just finished my TOM, so I'm sure that helped. I only exercised two days, though, so I'll have to get in an extra one this week! Love those NSVs! I had one last night. I have a very cushy, pillow-top mattress. I realized last night that I can roll over without sort of lifting myself up out of the dip! That's kinda hard to explain, but it meant a lot to me. gonnabethin, Happy Birthday! Hope your best gift is a nice drop next week! (edit) I just cancelled my fill appointment for tomorrow. I'm very happy with where I am right now, and as long as I continue to lose, I'm gonna stay here. I even tested 'er out with steak yesterday, with no problem. Tami 1/6 No exercise B: 1 c. I wore a dress!

That title would mean so much more if I posted it! haha congrats on the NSV! you look great!
  14. I would just like to share my newest NSV. I wore this dress to my best friends wedding last night. It may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I haven't worn a dress since I was 12. I wore it and I liked it!! I will be adding more to my wardrobe I blocked out the others for privacy. It was pretty exciting for me. At 267lbs I didn't look good in anything form fitting. It was a special night all around. It's the little things that mean so much! Update: Picture of the back of it for the ladies interested in it.

    Name Your NSV

My NSV's are loose wedding rings. I had to get new clothes and underwear and my bra's are too big again. I have so much energy I have to keep my walk going longer. I even bought size 12 pants and had to sew a dart in the waist of the. My husband said take them back and get a 10 but my butt still needs the 12 I had to explain to him. LOL
  16. Sounds good to me Bob! I'd take that any day. So Congrats ! On that NSV.

    Marchies in October!

I have a NSV to scream about!!! Woohoo!!! I finally broke down and went to buy some clothes. My 24 fall off, my 22s look rediculous, my 20s come down over my hips w/o unbuttoning them. So I had ONE pair of size 18 pants that look and feel good for work. Well, I can't wear the same damn pants every day so I went to the AVENUE, or as I call it, my store, the fat people store. I was on the way to the airport with my dad and sister so they came with me. I tried on a bunch of size 18s and they just didn't look right, my dad said - "go get the next size down girl" . So I did! And guess what!! They FIT!!!!! YAY!!!! I put on a 14/16 for the frst tme in well - hmm - about 10 years????? At work today everyone congratulated me on my weght loss. Even my boss!! He said, "by the way Nicole, notice that you've lost a lot of weght, 'm happy for you, keep t up." Well - he is so self absorbed was n shock!!! LOL So YAY ME!!! Now to get into ONEDERLAND!!!!!

dawneb... Looking forward to meeting you!!! Been a busy couple of days, even though weather hasn't been great. We were lucky yesterday and scheduled our white Water rafting trip for the one slot of time in the day that actually had sunshine, we had a great time. I skipped the rafting last time, feeling more comfortable with my body now. We went on a couple bike rides today, the longest was 7 miles around the airport on the river trail...beautiful!!! It's so great to want to be active, not so worried about if I can keep up. My attitude is changing, a real NSV for me. One little chuckle on the biking...I had to remind myself that it was a good thing that my upper arms were "flapping in the wind". Has anyone else noticed things getting soft and droopy. I told myself in the beginning that loosing the weight would be good enough, I didn't need to get plastic surgery. I'm seeing my attitude changing on that one, I'm seeing into the future and it seems to be full of flaps, jiggles and droops!!!

Kittylover: I think whatever helps is great. Good luck with TOPS! I had a NSV victory this week. My massage therapist is into the YOU on A Diet, Dr. Oz book and wanted me to measure her waist and she measured mine. My waist measured 33 inches! When I measured 2 months ago it was 38 inches. So, I think that the Water aerobics must really be helping. Now, below the waist is another story, but I'll take my NSV when I can. I lost 1 pound this week, but the scale is going back and forth. Up one, down one. Don't know if I should count it. I need all of your opinions. I go to see my doctor on Monday. The question is whether I should ask him to give me a fill. My doctor is leaving the state at the end of the month. There office is still not sure if they have another doctor coming to replace him. I have a contract for a year's support with fills, nutritionist support, etc. I may have to find another doctor to continue my care (outside of my current doctor's office). I know that my appetite is picking up, but some foods are difficult for me to eat, ie. meat, bread, anything that isn't chewed well. I think that if I could use, I would get a fill in another 2-3 weeks. But, with my doctor leaving, I feel that I should get it while, I can. I only hesititate because I am going on a week long trip with my DH at the end of next week. If I get a fill, I will be on liquids, then mushies, etc. and would only be trying regular food when it was time to leave on the trip. I don't know what I would do if I was too filled. It sucks that my doctor is leaving. What would you do?

No apology necessary! NSV = non-scale victory, meaning anything positive that comes from being banded *other* than losing weight (like improved flexibility, going off meds, getting winked at by the cute bag boy....) Tami

May 2006 Band Crew ~ June Chat

Well, I had a great NSV yesterday. I knew I had a pair of jeans in my closet -- size 18 with the tags still on. When I went in for surgery, I was in a TIGHT 20. My pants have been so loose lately I thought.....hmmmmm, wonder if I can get those jeans on? So I got them out of the closet, pulled them on (yeah! they went OVER my hips!) struggled to button them :paranoid , but they buttoned, laid down :rolleyes and zipped them up. They actually zipped up!!!! :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: They are still a bit tight to be wearing out, but another couple of weeks and they should fit right. When I first bought them, I couldn't even get them over my hips and they've been hanging in the closet for 3 years. I'm looking forward to being able to wear them all the time.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Marci - I love that you could get your 18's on...lying down to zip and all! It doesn't seem so painful when the pants you are trying to get in are smaller than the ones you are in...LOL! I had a laugh myself this past week...the 22's that were finally comfortable slipped off with unzipping or unbuttoning...WOO HOO! I, of course, called my daughter to brag! She had bypass over a year ago and is a svelte size 10 but since the 22's were once hers, she got a laugh out of it too! I'm not sure what a "NSV" is - I can never find the place to look that stuff up...maybe I had a NSV too!

Good morning everyone, Well I have a couple of NSV I'd like to share. 1st - A couple of weeks ago I was finally able to wear my wedding ring again!!!! I refused to have it sized up so I hadn't been able to wear it for a couple of years. I was just wearing different rings. 2nd - being able to put on T-shirts right out of the dryer and not having to stretch them to make them loose. YEAH!!!! Hope everyone's doing well. Riahg - hang in there. I know it seems like forever but you're more than halfway there. You wont always have to do all this documenting. I think you're doing fantastic. Dawn
