    Tell me something good :)

I never looked at it that way, but I guess you are right! Good to know you would do it again. I also didn't know the bypass surgery had been around so long. Well I certainly don't mind supplementing, I do that now anyway. I just hope I can continue to take all the extra pills I take now, which is about 10 and climbing. Thanks for this, great information. It helps!

    September Sleevers???

Had my surgery on 9/4. So far all is good! Today is day 10 post op, which mean the official start of puree food (yuck lol). Last night, I did try some Greek yogurt and had no trouble with eating it. Only had maybe 1.5 oz since it was half a day early and didn't want to risk feeling sick with it. I can get in about 64+ oz of fluid, but I am counting my protein shakes and broth in that, without including them I am getting at least 48oz of fluid in. I can take about 6-8 sips/gulps of water at a time. Drinking 2 protein shakes a day for 60 grams of protein. For the most part my abdomen feels fine post-op... but I do have that one spot that can feel like I have been stabbed if I move the wrong way still. But even that seems to be starting to subside now. What I haven't been doing a lot of is getting out and walking as much as I should. When I do go for my walks, I am wiped out after 15-20 minutes. Still, I am gradually improving. I actually think I am starting to feel better all around today, so maybe today is the day? I am also not having any trouble swallowing any of my smaller pills. The only liquid prescribed to me was pain medicine which surprised me, everything else I have been taken in it's normal tablet form since the day of surgery. I am down about 7 pounds since surgery, even with the initial 5 pound gain. That came off within 48 hours at most. All in all, everything is good!
  3. Breads and rice, somebody said use good quality bread, toast it well and you'll be fine. Ha Ha to the INTH Degree! Also most meat, ground or pureed into submission, Precious Pouch knows and won't accept it- No siree! I was over joyed when at 10 months she let me eat Greek yogurt once again, helped with the protein deficiency, think my hair has stopped thining and might be actually reviewing. For me growth did really slow down, oh it still did but Tomkitten still gets his hair cut 2 to 1 over me- will that ever CHANGE? Well I shall perpetually be a "Work in PROGRESS", but no real use raging against it so I've mentally kicked back, accepted I may never be protein shake FREE, what Precious will agree to I make of high quality, fresh as possible, and with intrinsic vitamin or mineral content. Almost nothing from cans, has to be fresh or purely frozen. But You ME and My Future Health are worth it. After years and years of sublimating to late husband and other Family Members I have learned to put Frustr8 to the forefront. One if the reasons I treasure All of You , especially Fluffy Chix , I have learned so much reading her past postings and diet advice. So what I cannot eat or Change I find substitute FOR, keep my fluids up- People live on Fluid Drive, after All, take my vitamins and minerals, must be digesti g those because I don't made a rattling sound as I Walk. And trust in GOD and my healthier decisions. And Someday, in Some Way , I will be in Maintainance after GOAL! 😜Smile and show 💘 wherever YOU GO.

First day at home after discharge

I woke up between 4:30 and 5am each morning and drank steadily until 10-11pm. It took focus and timing. It MUST be done.

    Stomach emptying

I am pre-op for bypass on 10/28. As part of the process, I had to do a stomach emptying study, and it showed that my stomach clears it’s contents faster than normal. This isn’t a problem, if it emptied slow it would be. My question is, has anyone else had this and does this mean I may have an easier time getting my water in post-op?
  8. I had my 2nd post OP visit today since my surgery on 7/31. My doctor was super pleased with my progress. When I told him that everything I eat makes me head straight to the potty, he suggested I add more fiber to my diet. I thought that would cause me to go... apparently it works both ways. I'm willing to try anything at this point. Hope everyone else is doing well!! 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 Surgery wt: 266 CW 238 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    The Maintenance Thread

I had a DEXAscan when I weighed 146 (I hover around 150 now). I thought I had another 10-15 lbs to go, but the technician said my body fat percentage was 22%, which is considered lean for women. In other words, within the normal range, but on the lower end. She advised I consider stopping my weight loss. My PCP agreed. I did eventually get down to 138, but I felt too thin. I knew it was time to switch into maintenance mode.

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

I’m having the gastric sleeve on 10/11/19 and I’m sooooooo nervous already!!! I had the Obera ball a year ago and gained all the weight back from that (all 20lbs) what a waste of money that was! And I’m so scared I won’t lose anything with the sleeve to be worth it or worse, I’ll gain everything back like I did with the ball!

    The Maintenance Thread

I think being in the normal BMI is good however due to our extra skin and probably more muscle than the average person at the same weight I would look sick at a low end of the normal BMI. I am also now is size 4 jeans and feel like that is the lowest size I want to be. A lot of small tops fit but some are still baggie around me but tighter in the arms. I don't want to have to shop in a juniors department and would if I dropped another 10 pounds.

    Purée Pain

I started purees today. Couldn't eat but a few bits of ground/pureed chicken (10 grams protein per 2oz), egg & broccoli this morning. I even divided the 2oz to .05oz. For lunch I decided to open one of my many infusion tuna (2.8oz -22 grams protein) containers that I primarily got for my lunch at work starting next week. Put a little greek yogurt in it - tuna already seasoned with lemon/thyme. As I was making it I was feeling (I'm not even hungry) but I put a little tuna & a little ground chicken measure from breakfast in a plate. My nutritionist wants me to try to eat 2oz meals for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I have tons left! I will try to eat a little every 2 hours - 30 minutes after liquids. My before/after plate & left overs to try to comsume by end of day. One protein shake or fairlife milk will get me to 60 grams of protein for the day. P.S.: It was very flavorful & smooth ; )

I weigh most days and plus have to fit into my clothes. I too use a 10 lbs window with 125 lbs my happy place. I was up over the summer but am back in the window. My scale always is kind to provide a fat percentage. About 18-20 percent.
  15. Yesterday was a busy day for me, had some job shadowing for potential new job, taking dog to the vet. Lots of walking which was good. I am experimenting with trying to not do any heavy exercise to see if that was making me way hungrier than i needed to be. I'm going to start some light exercising with my Mini-bands instead of weights. When this freaking heat wave is over i'm going to start walking the dogs every evening. so far, I'm less hungry so hopefully this works. I figure I will start heavy exercising when I'm around 150 lbs, maybe, we will see. I'm going to also start phasing dairy and gluten out of my diet. I have fibromyalgia and from what I read, these cause inflammation and more pain. Also going to cut out artificial sweeteners, switching to stevia and monk fruit. also, i need my husband to stop buying the pretzel crisps, i love crunchy lol our Food Diary For: Thursday, 9/12/19 Thursday, September 12, 2019 Calories kcal Carbs g Fat g Protein g Sodium mg Sugar g Breakfast Calories kcal Carbs g Fat g Protein g Sodium mg Sugar g Honey bunches - Of Oats, 1 cup 160 33 2 3 187 8 Blue Diamond - Almond Milk (Unsweetened), 0.25 cup 8 0 1 0 45 0 Add Food Quick Tools 168 33 3 3 232 8 Snack 1 pretzel crisp - snack , 42 gram 150 36 0 3 0 0 Starbucks - Iced Flat White- Almond Milk, 16 oz 70 6 4 2 105 3 Add Food Quick Tools 220 42 4 5 105 3 Lunch Add Food Quick Tools Snack 2 pretzel crisp - snack , 42 gram 150 36 0 3 0 0 Add Food Quick Tools 150 36 0 3 0 0 Dinner Kirkwoods - Chicken Breast, 3 oz 83 0 2 17 165 0 Green bean, 0.13 cup 4 1 0 0 1 0 Earth Balance - Vegan Butter, 1 tsp 30 0 3 0 300 0 g Hughes Sugar Free Bbq Sauce (8/2019) - Bbq Sauce, 1 tbsp 5 1 0 0 100 0 Add Food Quick Tools 122 2 5 17 566 0 Snack 3 Halo Top (dairy free) Vanilla Maple - ice cream, 136 gram 140 30 5 6 150 8 Add Food Quick Tools 140 30 5 6 150 8 Totals 800 143 17 34 1,053 19 Your Daily Goal 1,000 50 32 128 2,300 47 Remaining 200 -93 15 94 1,247 28

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Yesterday I went to Dress Barn to purchase some smaller pants. It was the first time ever I went to the regular size side of the store YEAH. I must admit I did feel a little lost, had no idea what size I am. The saleslady had me spin around and told me I was a REGULAR size 16!!. When I went to purchase the pants she told me I saved $10 on each pair because regular size is cheaper! YEAH

    September 2019 🍂🍁

Absolutely! I just got the call that the insurance company approved my surgery for 9/17/19. We scheduled it way out because my insurance wanted me to quit smoking for 6 months but would not approve it if I proved I hadn't smoked. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Disappearing lapbanders

I have had my band for 11 years.... for the first year, I was toooooo tight - throwing up all the time - lost all my weight, but had the band replaced after a year because it slipped. Ten years later, I have kept all my weight off, but there is a leak in the tubing somewhere so the saline doesn't stay in the band. I can get a fill, feel a bit of restriction, and then it fades. The scar tissue and band itself provide some restriction - enough to keep my weight stable. I am at 143 lbs - about 10 pounds higher than where I used to be a few years ago - but better than being 265. I believe that each weight loss surgery serves a purpose - one isn't necessarily "better" than the other because each person is different: some of us are volume eaters with no off-switch, others are emotional eaters, some of us have certain health concerns that would make duodenal switch or bypass a better choice than the sleeve.... It doesn't matter which surgery that you and your surgeon decide to go with, it is a difficult life-changing decision. Feel confident in your decision and stick to the guidance that your advisor gives you.

Can we say "excited". I bet you 2 are reeling right about now. My surgery date is 10/1 and I think that date is closing in quickly. We will all be excited to see posts about your progress.

Any August 2019 people out there?

Y'all....tell me this is going to pass....I thought I had a better day yesterday...made it through the whole day at work, and I actually managed to eat one extra time, so I had about 300 calories before dinner. Got home, fixed my "dinner" -- I got two bites down, and my stomach started HURTING. I stopped eating, but...not 10 minutes later it all came back up (I actually felt MUCH better after, so I won't be afraid of that happening now...) This morning, I had my cottage cheese - I usually can eat about 1/4 cup for breakfast...got two bites, and I felt really full so I stopped. Haven't eaten since, and now I'm getting a dang headache which I'm sure is from lack of food...ugh!!
