Little to some, BIG DEAL to me

Lil sister this is a great NSV. I am so proud of you and your loss already. WOW you are rocking that sleeve SIS, Don't forget to get those pics on the gallery so we can see the skinny you in transformation. I am so psyched for you. You are doing great!!!!!! :whoo: :clap2:
  2. My first major NSV - Today I did the grocery shopping. I even pushed the cart. We went to a huge grocery store and did a huge shopping and I walked THE WHOLE WAY and my back didn't hurt AT ALL. Crying with happiness here. The main reason for my having the surgery was because I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes, much less walk, without being in agony from my back.
  3. Love those kinds of NSV's!
  4. NSV #1: Hahaha, Wednesday night I was walking from work to the gym about 3 blocks away and was wearing my leggings and a Tshirt, damned if I didn't get a freaking cat whistle. LOL Lets just say that made the workout just a little bit more easy that night. NSV #2: I was waiting outside the office building last night for my friend to pick me up for dinner and decided to touch up my make up, compact mirrior in hand and appling my lip gloss, I look up and in a passing car a man was looking at me, smiled and gave me a thumbs up. LOL definately made me smile.
  5. 3 days after surgery my daughter told me "Dad this is the best decision you have ever made." I'm down 29 pounds since my protein diet.
  6. I am very happy to report that during my appt. with my primary MD on Wednesday, my blood pressure was 104/45. That is definitely low for me as I usually run 130/80 even on 4 different blood pressure meds. I had been experiencing some light headedness (new word) every time I stand up. My doctor concluded that with my weight loss and healthier lifestyle that we could drop one of my meds. I am very excited. It is certainly nice to see the benefits of my surgery and all the hard work I am doing. Doing a happy dance! :Banane02::Banane05::Banane04:

    Stairs!

Thanks to some genetics and my weight, I have rather bad knees and back problems. The result was I would get really tired just going up one flight of stairs - and would try to avoid them whenever possible. I couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without getting winded. I couldn't even stand in place for 5 minutes without breaking out in a sweat. Then I had VSG. Today - just 2.5 weeks after surgery, I was moving some stuff into my new apartment. I totally forgot about the stairs. There are 4 steps up to the front entrance, then 8 more down to my floor. I did all 12 steps at least 8 times today (both ways - so 16 times total I suppose)! I also unpacked my trunk twice taking stuff into the apartment and putting it away immediately. For me, this is a MAJOR NSV! Boy am I tired now though. Oh, and because I forgot to pack my lunch, I stopped at Big Boy for lunch (plus I wanted to sit in air conditioning for a bit - my apartment has air, but no furniture yet). I ordered the Grilled chicken dinner that came with 2 sides (I chose cottage cheese and baby carrots). My eyes are still bigger than my stomach. I barely made it through the cottage cheese (which was about 1/2 cup). So, I asked for a box when the waitress brought my meal and immediately packaged up the chicken and the carrots that turned out to be glazed carrots. I left the roll on the plate. My "doggie bag" will be at least 3 meals for me - I just have to puree it first. So although I'm really tired, I am proud of myself today. Now to rest up a bit (my back is really bothering me right now, so I'm resting) and then re-pack the car with more stuff for moving tomorrow. At least tomorrow my furniture will arrive at some point in the afternoon, so I'll have a chair to sit on!

    Tired!

Ok, here's my list of things I am tired of... I needed to vent... 1. Fatigue is getting to me, holy crow. I need my metabolism or whatever it is to pick up like yesterday. Most of all, I am tired of being tired all the time. 2. Protein shakes. They don't disgust me, I just don't want them. I need to find portable-to-work foods on the soft foods diet that starts on Sunday, cause this 2-shakes-a-day crap has got to end soon. 3. Water. Oy, water. I don't want it, I don't like it anymore, it is the bane of my existence and I am not getting enough. I just can't force it down, Crystal Light or not. 4. Head hunger. My brain is still convinced that I can eat the way I was eating before the surgery. HA. Talk about eyes being bigger than stomach! 5. My clothes are ALREADY too big. I stood up and my pants fell down. Most of you are thinking, NSV! Except I hate clothes shopping. (Maybe I will hate it less as I can fit into smaller and smaller sizes...) 6. The smell of foods I can't have. Somebody brought Taco Bell in to work. OMG. I am sitting at my desk salivating. I suppose I could have pintos & cheese, but I wouldn't be able to blenderize it first and I'm still technically on purees... Ok, enough whining out of me. I needed to vent. Thanks for letting me. Now the positives... 1. I'm still here to BE tired. 2. No pain. 3. No nausea. 4. ABLE to drink enough water and eat purees without super-tight restriction. 5. Hitting my protein goals. 6. I have a lot to look forward to. I am trying to see it this way! So there's the flip side of the coin. I just have to remember it's there.

    Excuse me. Have we met?

    Awesome NSV!
  11. Work clothes seem extra baggy and getting lots of comments - total NSV. Pants almost falling off as I walk to the restroom - NSV? not so much LMAO!

  12. NSV?? Woke up yesterday and realized I have 2 small bruises strategically place on each inside knee....apparently when I sleep the BONES are sitting atop one another since there is less FAT!

    Excuse me. Have we met?

    Great NSV!! Love it!!
  14. I had constant headaches; they were never officially diagnosed as migraines. I got headaches at least 3 times a week, if not more, that would last all day. They were sometimes severe enough to stay home and no painkiller would help. They are gone now, I think I have had one headache since surgery...and it certainly didn't last all day. I cannot put into words how much better I function now; my mood and attitude are so much better. I suspect it is either because I cut out caffeine (I was a major coffee fiend) and/or that my sugar consumption is low and therefore my glucose levels are now normal. You would call this a major NSV for me...and the aversion I now have for caffeine and sugar are keeping me on track to keep losing weight. It's a WIN WIN any way you look at it!! I hope vsg helps with your migraines, let me know how it turns out, I'm curious!! P.S. Wow! I just looked up migraines, and that must have been what I had. I used to get the cloudy-vision auras too. My out of control diabetes may have been making my hormones fluctuate causing the headaches.

    NSV

NSV today, I went to penny's in search of a few items today. When I asked where to find what I needed the sales lady took me to the regular woman's department. Good bye plus size clothes! It took a few minutes for it to sink in, I do not look plus size any more!(I had not even told her what size I was looking for) In my mind and under my clothes I still do, but that is another issue all together. 20 more pounds to go and I will be in onederland

    Another NSV

That is a huge NSV. Congratulations!!! Your hard work is paying off.
  17. This weekend I went out and hit some garage sales looking for things for my son's new apartment. I saw this very cute denim skirt. It was a size 10. Knowing that I could never wear it I bought it for my daughter....it was only a quarter. I brought it home and, just for $hits and giggles I thought I would try it on and see how close I was to it fitting. I just went from 14 to 12 a couple weeks ago...in fact some 12's still don't fit. Well guess what? That's right...THE DARN THING FIT! Seriously???? Me!?? A 10???? Me who was a 28 just 3 years ago???? Sorry, Kid. Mom's keeping this one!!
  18. Be happy with the NSV's. The scale will catch up eventually!
  19. walking back to the car from the gym and wondering why my sandles keep slipping off. WOW i'm loosing weight in my feet. who knew i had fat feet! LOL! I love NSV'S!

  20. What a great and inspiring post! You do look amazing and 'jumping on a trampoline?" Seriously, I cannot even imagine that for me... That IS a huge NSV. You look wonderful and you sound...content. I'm so happy for you. Susan
  21. Weird yet fun NSV.. So, I'm having the tattoo on my wrist removed via laser (in my quest to change lots about me!) Anyway, the laser tech was talking me through the pain... then she says "Oh the pain is going to be more intense for these bony parts..." LOL!!! I had to think twice on that. I really don't remember EVER being described anywhere near BONY!!! ;o)

    NSV!!

Good for you.. Those are great NSV's!! keep it up! Kelly
  23. I am hovering at -75lbs gone and I could not be more happy with my sleeve! I can honestly say I love my sleeve and never had any regret about doing this surgery! I have been frustrated by my "slow" loss but am working on acceptance and trying to embrace it. I did have my 9 month checkup with my surgeon, and when I expressed concern about losing slowly, he laughed and said that I'm doing excellent! He said my weight loss was on target (according to his charts, I'm doing exactly as I should number-wise), my workouts were perfect, and my meals were perfect (I brought in samples of my food logs) so that was wonderful news. He sort of set a target to lose about 15-20lbs in the next 13 or so weeks, and of course that would be wonderful, but as things are slowing way down for me I am doubtful that I can make it. I might be able to swing -15lbs and I would be thrilled with that. That would put me -90lbs for my one year anniversary of getting the sleeve and that would be awesome. So in that spirit I am working on acceptace. I'm starting to Celebrate more of the little things that matter like running up a flight of stairs and not being winded, or the fact that I can bare my arms and wear sleeveless tops, or bouncing on the trampoline with the kids in the backyard...all things that seem small but in reality are huge NSV's. I do love seeing before/after pictures (SO MOTIVATING!) so I will post a comparison picture. It is not a body shot (sorry I have no new body shots) so it will have to be a face shot. Sometimes pictures really DO tell the story and even the change in my face is dramatic. I'm always wowed by the fact that as people lose weight their facial features become more prominent. Not being dwarfed by their own weight, suddenly eyes and noses and eyebrows are SO much bigger on a face that isn't carrying so much extra weight. I can hardly believe it's been 9 months SINCE being sleeved as I remember waiting the 6 months to BE sleeved and feeling like it was an eternity. If you are pre-op hang tight, soon you will be posting that you are 9 months too!

    NSV shout outs

Ok, dumbest NSV ever but I'm just so excited to be on this side of things that I had to post. One week & one day post op (27 # down!), I was talking to someone in my office and fidgeting when I realized that the little rubber finger, page turner thing fit! It cut off circulation before! It's the small things.

    NSV!!

I'm 2 months out from surgery and am down 85 pounds total (45 since surgery). I am extremely happy with my weight loss so far, and when I got on the scale this morning I was down into the next 10!! Here are my NSV's: 1. I got to go shopping and buy pants and a bathing suit TWO sizes smaller!! 2. I pulled out a pair of pants that I have never been able to wear because they were too small and I was too embarrassed to send them back, I put them on and they are HUGE on me. 3. My stomach no longer touches the steering wheel when I sit in the car, even with the seat pulled forward. I'm so happy with my decision and I'm finally starting to feel great for the first time since surgery (and really for the first time in years)!!
