Can I have some yogurt now ?!
Ragdollorchid replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They gave me low fat vanilla yogurt with unjury in it in the hospital the day after my surgery. Something I've realized on this site is the variations among doctors is amazing when it comes to what to eat when. There's one person posting that their doc keeps them on Clear liquids for over a week after surgery while others are on puréed in the second week. I'm glad my doctor gave me a clear cut guide to follow for safety. But 6 days post I'm finding that my body is telling me what I can tolerate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

ashleyrowles replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Per my Dr.'s instructions, I was only on clear liquids for 2 days post-op. Yogurt was part of my "full liquids/pureed foods" diet which started on day 3 after surgery. I'm sure you would be fine. Just take it slow and make sure there are no small bits of fruit...it has to be completely smooth so as not to get stuck in your staple line. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

This is a great time to learn to be able to do things that we think we can't take. You have made a huge decision to change your lifestyle and your postop diet is part of it. At least call your surgeons office and ask if you can add yogurt. You really don't need strangers approval to do what you want to do. I know for me, it was important to be able to meet my Protein and liquid goals and follow my plan. I found each stage to get tiresome because I wanted what was coming next. It is a very small sacrifice in the big scheme. And that first scrambled egg was the best ever! You will get there. This!Omg you are sooo dramatic that's what I hate about this site alot of the Americans act like your gonna die if you eat something. She hasn't asked for a McDonald's or KFC or pizza hut it's a yogurt for gods sake. I'm not telling her to eat anything I told her of my experience and what I did. I did eat a yogurt before I was suppose to both happened my nurse said it's a slider food so nothing with happen or get stuck. You need to realise everyone's experiences are different and accept that!!! Sent from my SM-G901F using the BariatricPal App -

Getting through fluids really is getting to me I know it's a short time when you think about it but I can't stomach another bowl of broth ... or Jello... I will say I did have an 1oz of Greek yogurt with a few tablespoons of Water to make it looser and it was really good .... couldn't wait for tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Healthy Options at Every Corner No matter how careful you are to plan ahead, life can throw a wrench into your plans. When life happens, you can be caught empty-handed and starving. Even then, you can find something that fits into your weight loss surgery diet. Fast food restaurants have a lot of bad options, but they have some good choices, too. Whether you are stuck with a coffee shop, a burger joint, a pizza parlor, a sandwich shop, or another type of national franchise restaurant, you can fit something into your WLS diet if you order carefully. You might want to consider your options ahead of time so you can be confident in your choice when you have only a few quick minutes to decide what to order. These are some likely possibilities to look for. Eggs and cheese from a breakfast sandwich. Chicken or turkey breast, a burger patty, or cheese from a burger, sandwich, or taco. A side salad or green salad with chicken breast. Fat-free yogurt. You always have the choice of how much to eat, so do not ever pressure yourself to eat too much just because you received too much food. Also, you can pick and choose what to eat. Never feel obligated to eat the bread when all you wanted was the chicken breast inside the sandwich, and feel free to pick out the shrimp and vegetables from a rice bowl, while leaving the rice untouched. Appreciating the Weight Loss Surgery Journey There is a lot to think about from the moment you begin the weight loss surgery journey. Goal weight may be at the front of your mind. Also at the forefront are probably milestones such as getting through your pre-op diet, having surgery itself, progressing to solid foods, and, if you are a lap-band patient, finding the green zone with your band. On top of all that, you need to focus on working hard day in, day out, on following your WLS diet. There is truly a lot to concentrate on as you chase weight loss surgery success. That is good because it can keep you focused on track, but it can keep you from noticing some of the great things that are happening every day of your WLS. Making an effort to notice these exciting moments on a daily basis can keep you motivated and make your entire journey easier. Recognize Great Choices On a daily basis, you are faced with countless choices that affect your weight loss surgery journey, from what to eat to whether to exercise. No matter what else happens in your life, you are in control of your choices. If you make a habit of noticing and praising yourself each time you make a good weight loss surgery choice, you will be motivated to make more good choices. They build on each other. Here are a few choices you might recognize. They may seem small, but they show your commitment to your weight loss, and they add up to big results. Measuring portions instead of eyeballing them. Packing a lunch the night before so you don’t rush out of the house empty-handed the next day. Getting up to walk in the morning instead of rolling over in bed. Making the effort to go to your support group meeting instead of staying at home. Phoning a friend to talk through your feelings instead of drowning them in food. Enjoy Daily Progress You will not hit a major milestone each day. The scale will not go down each day, or even each week. But you can still progress in your weight loss surgery every day. When you appreciate your progress, you can see the links between your hard work and the benefits that it leads to. In turn, that can increase your motivation. All kinds of progress can happen on a daily basis. Many of them will be NSVs (non-scale victories) that can pop up at any time. For example, there might be that first day when it takes you a moment to see that the skinny figure reflecting back at you from the shop window is…you. You might find that you ar Or, you might realize that you chose to order the grilled chicken salad instead of your old go-to of nachos supreme not because you had to, but because the salad actually sounded more appealing for your new palate. Autumn Weight Loss: Take Advantage of the Season Ready or not, summer is over and the chillier weather is coming in. You might as well embrace it, though, since autumn can be a great season for weight loss. For one thing, the distractions of summer vacations are over, so it is easier to focus on routine, including the routine that you know will get you to your weight loss goals. Here are a few more ways you can take advantage of fall for weight loss. Walk outside in the invigorating brisk air instead of avoiding the summer heat. Snack on crisp fall apples, or bake them with cinnamon and serve them with Greek yogurt for a guilt-free dessert. Discover winter squashes such as acorn and butternut as one of the most nutritious starch choices you can make – packed with fiber, potassium, and antioxidants. Find a local farm where you can burn calories picking apples or pears. Curl up with a hot cup of protein cocoa or cappuccino on a chilly evening. Go to a gym regularly, since they are fairly empty at this time of year. Get creative as you think of ways that the fall season can help you lose weight, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes along. Whenever you have ideas or need ideas, hop on over to BariatricPal and get those conversations going! I hope you enjoyed the newsletter and got some inspiration from it. Can I have some yogurt now ?!
Melanie89 replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey I'm from the UK and I had yogurt in my 2nd week it's a slider food so will go down nicely. I'm coming up to 3 weeks post surgery and I'm on soft food I must admit I skipped onto soft food few days earlier I shouldn't have but I did I got soo bored of liquids. The American plan seems so much stricter than ours. Sent from my SM-G901F using the BariatricPal App -
you might not be ready to progress to that solid of food yet and I wouldn't push it. I started with greek yogurt and cottage cheese. and no more than an ounce initially - eaten very very slowly. when that got easier, I had a puree phase where I blended tuna, salmon or chicken with a little greek yogurt. you might want to try something like tuna or salmon which is already broken down into small bits and mix with light mayo or plain yogurt before going to chicken which is denser and a little chunkier. A lot of people have trouble with eggs early out so you may want to hold off and try them again in a week or two - or try egg salad with very finely chopped egg.

First 3 months after gastric sleeve
Candygyrl replied to Taylah.G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Taylah.G Well-- something that I feel very comfortable speaking to. I am currently 3 months post op!!! Surgery date was 7/1/16. As mentioned before you will get varied answers because everyone is different, different starting weights, loses differently, eats differently, exercises different. Basically there are so many variables that everyones answer will differ but I imagine that you are asking for a general consensus at about the 3 month mark sooo since I'm there currently-- I'll give you my perspective. I did not have any significant weight loss pre op. It was a personal choice. I do not recommend it obviously if you can lose weight prior to surgery the closer that will put you towards your goal and your chances of hitting your target weight within the first year. Take a few pics pre op and then a few every month to see your progress. I didn't but wish that I had. I have pics of myself pre op. I will likely do one in the next couple days-- that will show some changes that I am so far very happy with. I also keep a weekly log that shows my weight loss trends. Each week is different but I can look back and see progress towards goals and various fluctuations in weight which help me to make necessary tweaks and adjustments. Surgery weight 253.6 Month 1- Adjustment phase. Various highs and lows. Adjusting to a new way of life. A healing stomach, and adjusting to the various food stages figuring out what my new tummy likes how much of it I can eat how slowly to eat and working hard to get in enough Protein and liquids. I was not able to get liquids down quickly so my protein came mostly in the form of shakes and yogurt. I tested the waters a bit and learned my limitations. Reality hit me hard and I realized that I have to do the work. I have to develop a eating and drinking schedule, take my Vitamins, fit in my activity, pack snacks and keep fluids with me anytime I leave the house. Lots of fatigue, concern for dehydration. I received 2 Vitamin B12 injections. Week 1 -14.2lbs, Week 2 -1lb, Week 3 -3.3 lbs, Week 4 -6.8 lbs Total 25.3 lost Month 2- Getting into the swing- Adjustments are setting in as you prepare to be on regular foods again at 6 weeks. By now I was hitting or very close to hitting my Fluid and protein goals most days of the week. It took a lot of effort on my part. It wasn't a passive effort either! Lots of focus, determination and planning. Implementing tools such as setting timers and reminders to eat and drink. Keeping my fridge stocked with items that I could eat and measuring out the food that I eat-- all very important. Walking and biking was about as much as I could do activity wise. But my energy levels were climbing past the levels I was at pre op! I was starting to create a plan to step my activity levels up and decided to gradually increase my workout days by 1 every 2 weeks until I hit 4-5 days a week 1 hour. Week 5- 1.8lbs Week 6 -6.4lbs Week 7- 3.2 lbs Week 8- 1.5lbs Total 12.9 lbs lost Month 3- Full throttle. I've worked out most of my kinks the only issue is staying consistent. I'm working out regularly on average of 4 days a week. I no longer feel like a post op newbie--My energy levels are steady climbing, I'm feeling stronger my endurance is picking up and I'm looking great. People at work are asking wow you've lost weight haven't you? You look great! People who haven't seen me in a while instantly notice the difference. I finally feel like its all starting to set in and I'm making progress. I put some clothes in the layaway (smaller sizes) and fit into size 12's for the first time in more than 7 years. Pre op I was in 16's and 18's or 2x. I can now fit into 12's and wear Large tops. My shoe size went from a 10 to a 9. Week 9- 6.7lbs , Week 10 -0.8 lbs, Week 11 -2lbs Week 12 -2 lbs Total Week 13-5.4 lbs (5 weeks in September) Total 16.9 lbs Current weight 201.8 Expecting to enter ONEDERLAND this weeks end. Good Luck to YOU!!!!!! -
Hello Out There August 2016 Sleevers!
jenjenp replied to Sc7272's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved August 15th. Still nauseous after most food. That is not yogurt or Protein shakes. oatmeal is ok. But fish. chicken. Pork. Does not sit well. Anyone else? I also had hiatal hernia repair. Not sure that has anything to do with it. I also wake up nauseous. I see my doc on Wednesday. Just want to make sure it is normal and will go away. Water still tastes bad. I see so many posts with people that say their recovery was so easy it's frustrating. I am the type of person that never gets s sick either so I thought it would be easier for me. I also haven't lost a lot of weight. Started at 211. Pre surgery diet. 201 surgery day. 184. 7 weeks post op. Unfortunately I still take prednisone. Probably for 8 more months. I am tapering off and into something else I know that doesn't help either. I asked my beautiful wife to make me chicken cordon bleu for dinner tonight and boy did she come through! I had an idea to use pulverized wasa crackers as breading and Greek yogurt and shrooms as the basis of a sauce. Damn good stuff!

AKB replied to Shell Renewed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@"veryblessed" Congrats on your surgery! I too was sleeved on 9-20, almost 2 wks out now. Stomach pain is minimal , but found I had more abd pain after the staples removed... Strange ..but I Am definitely not pushing the food limits! Sticking w soft foods, eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. I'm finding the foods I crave no longer taste good when I try them. How are you doing now? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I think everyone is different and you have to move at the pace that is best for you. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. On Tuesday I will be 4 weeks out and I have been on mushie foods this past week until week 7. Scrambled eggs, oatmeal, mushed up avocado, yogurt, creamy Soups, etched. Too early for me for hamburger meat or chicken, but I am sure there are those at 4 weeks out who would feel comfortable eating those things. Go at your own pace and don't do anything you feel you aren't ready for.
-
I am 7 weeks out. I still eat mostly yogurt. Protein shakes And occasionally oatmeal. I have tried more solid food like chicken or pork or a small homemade hamburger. I feel sick and nauseous after eating them though. I read posts here all the time where people are fine after the first week or two. I am definitely better as every week goes by But I thought by this time I would be eating a little more normal. Anyone else in the same situation? I did have a hiatal hernia repaired the same time as sleeve. But not sure if that affects his my sleeve heals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It is going alright. I am not getting all of stuff in as I am still recovering from my endoscopy (my uvula was swollen and enlarged;hard time swallowing). So I am doing the shakes twice a day, yogurt once and then trying to have a decent meal. I started it on Wednesday and I'm already down 5lbs. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Eggs are not allowed through my plan until after 8 weeks, due to them being such a harsh protein to digest. I think like the others have said, Greek yogurt, finely pureed meats, and things like cream of wheat with unflavored protein powder my be gentler on your healing tummy.
