GenePro GEN2 - is anyone using it?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to chuswysly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use it in yougurt, jello and protein shakes. There is a bit of a spell but nothing that can't be ignored. I also find that there is a little bit of a taste but if that's a problem for you you can always start with half a scoop. I don't notice the taste at half a scoop. It works really well in yogurt. -
Help! I'm so scared I've spent all this money for nothing
IveGotThePower replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patience Grasshopper. For what it's worth, my NUT told me that getting my Protein from eating foods is preferable to getting it from Protein drinks because synthetic protein is not recognized, absorbed and metabolized as well as it is from natural sources. That being said, and since I too am not a big fan of meat, there are other alternatives. Do you like dairy? I do a lot of Fairlife milk, yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese. What about seafood? I make some salmon/shrimp/crabcakes and munch on them for two or three days. And those tuna pouches are so easy and convenient. You can just rip the top off, grab a fork and eat it out of the pouch. I also make crustless quiche and freeze portions in zip top bags. And I make ground turkey w/garlic and chopped steamed veggies (mixed in a lg bowl). Then freeze portions so I can grab and go for lunch at work. You really are doing great! Look up what one pound of fat looks like. Your body is going through a lot of changes, so it takes time. I also keep track of measurements, and I do find that when I'm not loosing lbs, I am loosing inches. Another way I look at it is that instead of looking at whether I've lost more, I give myself a pat on the back because I haven't gained it back. That in itself is an achievement. In the past, it came back very quickly, and now it hovers for a bit then drops. Everyone is different. You'll hear that a million times because it is true. Don't be hard on yourself for weight that hasn't come off yet, instead be glad for the weight that has come off. And work to find your healthy happy sustainable place and the rest will take care of itself. The very best to you. -

GenePro GEN2 - is anyone using it?
quirkhorse replied to chuswysly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use it. It has a bit of an odor, but it doesn't bother me. I use it in yogurt, pudding, oatmeal, jello, soups, beans. Pretty much anything it can stir into. I don't really use it in drinks, but opt for a serving or 2 of syntrax nectar through the day (clear fruit protein drink mixed with water). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I KNOW I can eat more than I should
theantichick replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost 7 weeks out. I can eat a little over 5oz of pudding consistency food (the greek yogurt I get is 5.3 oz and I can finish it if I've eaten slowly enough). But for solid food, I can get about 3oz in before my sleeve tells me we're DONE. If I try just that one more bite, I'll feel awful for 15-20 min. -
Can I have some yogurt now ?!
blizair09 replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@melunruh I feel the same way. I had my first follow-up appointment today, and since I have been exceeding my Fluid and Protein goals, they moved me on to 30-40 grams of protein and I can start Protein shakes immediately. Full liquids (including yogurt) comes along on Saturday. -
When can I stop using protein powder
trekker954 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yikes. I'm 2 months post op and toss in a scoop of GENEPRO in my coffee each morning. Then usually have a Premiere shake as a snack at some point during the day. I don't think I'd make my goal each day without it. I hate greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I wish I were more creative. -
Pumpkin spice anywhere!?

Hi everyone. I am almost exactly 3 months post op. I am worried a little tho. Currently I can eat maybe 2 bites of anything, soft cheese, yogurt, banana, but I get so much pain when I eat. It's like that's all my body will allow me to eat. It is so frustrating and annoying. I am hungry. I feel hungry but yet I do not want to eat anything at all because I don't feel like suffering for the next 30mins while my stomach tries to digest. So my question is... Will this pain every go away? When will I get to eat more than 2 bites of food without suffering? Thank you all so much!

What did your first week on purees look like?
gemigirl replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I sprinkled some Protein powder on my Beans but not much - I'm quite sick of everything tasting like whey. Fortunately I've been able to have Greek yogurt since day 5, and I'll continue with those. Can't wait to have eggs! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
When can I stop using protein powder
jess9395 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THIS is the long and the short of it. Took me a LONG time to get there and even at almost three years out I still supplement more days a week than not to get all the protein in (my goal is higher than most at 90-110g). Other people get there in 6-8 weeks. The more other sources of protein you can tolerate/incorporate the sooner you can stop using them! meat, seafood and chicken of course but also Greek yogurt, eggs, cheeses (including cottage cheese, ricotta, etc), nuts & seeds, Beans (and tofu, tempeh, etc). The more you fill the space available to you with protein, the less supplement you need. -
Puree, blender and baby food
reree6898 replied to Butterflywarrior's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never used a blender at all. For that stage I ate soft cheese (cottage cheese, ricotta etc) Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes with unflavored protein powder, unsweetened Apple sauce with the unflavored protein powder, things like that. I found no need to eat baby food personally. -
What did your first week on purees look like?
finding_onederland replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first thing I ate was a scrambled egg. My first week I did greek yogurts, finely chopped chicken with light mayo, homemade black Beans, Ricotta bake, egg salad, baked sweet potato. My sleeve has tolerated everything very well. (I am eating very small portions, no more than 1-2 oz at a time) -
What did your first week on purees look like?
heidikat72 replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
about three times a day I would have a small amount of something pureed - starting with an ounce at a time and by the end of my puree phase (2 weeks) I could have 2 ounces most of the time. I continued to supplement with Protein shakes in order to meet my protein goals. Items I had during puree: dannon light and fit greek yogurt - make sure you get ones that don't have any bits/chunks of fruit in it, some flavors do, some don't. the vanilla, key lime and lemon are pretty safe choices for no chunks. tuna (One of the flavored pouches) pureed with a tablespoon of plain nonfat greek yogurt - i would get two meals out of this. pouches of salmon or canned chicken done the same way. I did refried Beans as well for something warm - although my dietician said that wasn't a great choice (not a bad one either) because the protein content really isn't that great. and towards the end of my puree phase I made the infamous ricotta bake from eggface's blog. I also had a very soft scrambled egg towards the end of puree phase - some people don't tolerate eggs early out though. -
Had my RenY 9/27 too. My follow-up appt is today. I have basically been sipping Water since surgery. The nausea only started yesterday and was severe along with intense burning chest pain. I am so weak. I'm looking forward to getting some energy back. Water and occasional broth has been my routine. But I can't say I've really been hungry. I am looking forward to some yogurt, strained cream soup, just something different! I've dropped 17 pounds since the day of surgery. That has been a really good feeling! Can I have some yogurt now ?!
Lema replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had yogurt on day 6 but one cup would last me over a day. Put some on my tongue and wait half an hour to see how it goes.. that's me. I don't know what your body would do to you if you tried that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So she used yogurt in place of sour cream? What did she use for the cheese? I'm salivating a little here BTW.

Can I have some yogurt now ?!
Ragdollorchid replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They gave me low fat vanilla yogurt with unjury in it in the hospital the day after my surgery. Something I've realized on this site is the variations among doctors is amazing when it comes to what to eat when. There's one person posting that their doc keeps them on Clear liquids for over a week after surgery while others are on puréed in the second week. I'm glad my doctor gave me a clear cut guide to follow for safety. But 6 days post I'm finding that my body is telling me what I can tolerate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Can I have some yogurt now ?!
ashleyrowles replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Per my Dr.'s instructions, I was only on clear liquids for 2 days post-op. Yogurt was part of my "full liquids/pureed foods" diet which started on day 3 after surgery. I'm sure you would be fine. Just take it slow and make sure there are no small bits of fruit...it has to be completely smooth so as not to get stuck in your staple line. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -
Can I have some yogurt now ?!
Melanie89 replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great time to learn to be able to do things that we think we can't take. You have made a huge decision to change your lifestyle and your postop diet is part of it. At least call your surgeons office and ask if you can add yogurt. You really don't need strangers approval to do what you want to do. I know for me, it was important to be able to meet my Protein and liquid goals and follow my plan. I found each stage to get tiresome because I wanted what was coming next. It is a very small sacrifice in the big scheme. And that first scrambled egg was the best ever! You will get there. This!Omg you are sooo dramatic that's what I hate about this site alot of the Americans act like your gonna die if you eat something. She hasn't asked for a McDonald's or KFC or pizza hut it's a yogurt for gods sake. I'm not telling her to eat anything I told her of my experience and what I did. I did eat a yogurt before I was suppose to both happened my nurse said it's a slider food so nothing with happen or get stuck. You need to realise everyone's experiences are different and accept that!!! Sent from my SM-G901F using the BariatricPal App
