I got Genepro from the Bariatric Pal store, been blending into my cream soups to give a dietary kick and up the protein. So far so good. Only failure I had was the day I tried to put it in bone broth abdcended up with Genepro noodles instead.

so what kind are you trying? My favorite is Muscle Milk 🍓. I also like part of the Premier Protein flavors, wondered why I couldn't find any at my Wal-Mart, then I read they are embroiled in a lawsuit. Dont know if they, arent shipping or Wal-Mart,isn't ordering. Do NOT buy their, house brand Equate it is VILE beyond all understanding! I would drink Slim-Fast first and I Do Not,Like it, not even before starting Bariatrics.

Revision from lapband to sleeve
JacquieK replied to JacquieK's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Kelly, thank you so much for responding to me with such helpful answers. It’s helpful to know we are just weeks apart. I hope we can continue to talk to support each other. Not many people at least that I have talked to are band to sleeve. What was your decision to go to sleeve rather then full bypass? Mine was I had Ovarian cancer 2016. I was blessed to have listened to my body and the doctors caught it in time I was stage 1. Which is extremely rare to catch it so early, I’m so thankful. My GYN oncologist urged me against the full bypass due to saturation of nutrition if it should come back. I get checked every 6 months. I used to think that was a myth about getting enough nutrition but I trust my doctors. I called my bariatric doctor this morning to ask about my tongue. Also I never asked about intercourse..lol. I too are still tired and some days sore more the others, it seems lifting my legs to get in or out of the car or bed hurts, sharp pain for a second. Thank you for the helpful hints, I will try them today. thanks again! -
Twitter Do you know what the #BestProteinShake for #BariatricSurgery is? Hint: there is a #PremierProteinSettlement going on now! For great taste and #wheyProteinConcentrate try BariatricPal Protein One with 27 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. INSERTLINKHERE BariatricPal WLS Magazine is never misleading! Premier Protein – Not Premier for Bariatric Patients! The jury went to work on Premier Protein, and the verdict is in – almost literally. Premier Protein is in trouble for its misleading label claims on its protein shakes. Not only that, but the shakes may not be all they’re cracked up to be when it comes to helping you lose weight. Here is the story. Legal Trouble for Premier Protein Premier Protein sells all kinds of protein shakes. The ones whose labels state that they have 30 grams of protein per serving are the ones in the settlement. Analysis has found that they have 26 to 29 grams. The flavors that are in the settlement are Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberries & Cream, Banana & Cream, Peaches & Cream, Cookies & Cream, Mixed Berry, Organic Chocolate, Organic Vanilla, and Caramel. While the company is not admitting wrongdoing or ceasing the sale of these products, there is a class action settlement. You may be eligible for a cash payout if you purchased any of the misleading shakes in the past 7 years, since 2011. Pre-op or post-op, you need to know how much protein is in your shake. Not Best for Bariatric Patients Every gram of protein counts, but the deception in amount of protein per serving is not the only problem. Even if you are willing to overlook the shortfall in the amount of protein, Premier Protein has a problem with type of protein. Read the ingredients carefully, and you will see that less than 1% of the product is “whey protein concentrate.” Whey protein is the type of protein that you should be looking for because it absorbs more quickly than casein. Whey protein has been shown to increase weight loss and body fat loss in bariatric surgery patients. Another glance at the list of ingredients of Premier Protein shows that “milk protein concentrate” and “casein” are the major sources of protein. Casein is slow-acting. If you had a bariatric surgery type, such as gastric bypass, that interferes with absorption, you may not get all the benefits from casein. What’s Better? We know that you need a protein supplement, so what can you find that has the amount and type of protein you need and the great taste that will encourage you to take care of your needs? BariatricPal Protein One gets our vote. · 27 grams of whey protein. · 28 vitamins and minerals. · Great-tasting French Vanilla, Cinnamon Swirl, and Double Chocolate Fudge. It has a few more advantages over Premier Protein. · Over twice as much dietary fiber for fullness and digestive health. · Choose from convenient single-serving packets or multi-serving tubs. · Comes in powder so you can add water or your favorite beverage. · Has an “unflavored” option so you can add it to anything, from soup to smoothies. When it comes to bariatric products, quality counts. Any purchase you make should be from a trusted source because there are a lot of poor-quality or misleading products out there. The few grams of difference between Premier Protein’s claims and reality may not be a lot, but along with the poor choice of casein instead of whey as the main protein source, you might want to seek another source for your protein. Look for a trusted vendor and name brand as you make your choice. What you put in your body really does matter.

Marginal/anastomotic ulcer anyone?
Frustr8 replied to eudys3's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yeah I hear a lot about the unholy 3, gastrin, leptin and ghrelin, I guess all of them have to be in balance or you get ulcers, strictures and misery. And the outsiders think Bariatrics is an Easy Way out? Ha Hah, YOU just try living it.😔 -
You are not alone. Studies are showing that people that have had bariatric sergery are more likely to get late onset alcoholism. I suggest to start cutting back if you noticed that cutting back causes you to have physical effects such as shaking I would mention it to your primary care doctor. You colossal look into AA meetings and your community. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Marginal/anastomotic ulcer anyone?
Frustr8 replied to eudys3's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had one, Hector, showed up during my EGD in December 2017 when my gastroenterologist had me on omeprazole, that's why I was on Dexilent until they stopped it ,at my surgery time.Told them, my bariatric team, omeprazole was not going to be gastric protective, they didn't listen, they like the stuff because you can open the capsules and pour them on your food. Foolish when I am on a liquid Stage 2 diet, I don't eat solids unless you can Do it applesauce. I don't whether I was going to have it or off the endo caused it but now I have laryngitis. Did Dr Noria get my stricture stretched so I could eat solids? Nope she did as much as she felt she could, but that is one of the reasons I have to have another EGJ within 2 weeks. I knew I had a stricture, I just could tell, the ulce4s, I feel since I was a known ulcer producer, I should have been on Carafate from the beginning. Now I have it 6am Noon 6pm Midnight for 3 months, and instead of removing omeprazole the dosage was doubled. Oh I shall be compliant, but i,have my doubts whether this maneuver is going to work! -
Teriffying experience blockage of food
Frustr8 replied to E.S's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
And I was right, I have kept saying there is something wrong with Precious Pouch! Well last Friday, I had an Upper endoscopy, an EGJ because the duodenum is no longer accessible on a bypasser , And my Precious has a moderate stricture and Hector my little baby gastric ulcer has 5 nasty stepbrothers. Anybody remember the movie Gremlins? Well Hector is Gizmo, relatively quiet, doesn't make waves. These 5 stepbrothers are located in the area of the stoma and on the back wall of the jejunem, and they are more like Stripe and his group, haven't bled yet, haven't come cl9se to perforation, but I am not trusting them. And although I name all my toys and possessions, have since I was a mini-Frustr8, I refuse to name these 5 hooligans. I want them GONE! So now I take that omeprazole twice a day, supposed to open the capsule and pour the grains on food, rough when the only soludish you have is applesauce. See Precious would rather vomit than let purees and soft food through. And between the vomiting and the tube down my throat I have laryngitis. I would say I croak like a🐸 frog, but most of the time I'm like a toad instead , no sound. And also for 3 months I am on Carafate every 6 hours around the clock so 6am Noon 6pm Midnight. And I have to perform a cute maneuver. The medicine comes in big oval white horse pills, so I put one in my shotglass, pour hot water on to it, stir the slurry up before it separates. And it is a shame they don't have much taste, I think it tastes like white over refined flour. But what the hey, I'll try to stick to this program. And within 2 weeks I get to have ANOTHER lovely scoping. So October 23rd I see Dr Needleman and probably that Friday if not sooner a rescope. And I have two other surgical processes I postponed because of Bariatrics, still elective at this point maybe not forever. Oh I am a busy kangaroo, aren't I? Do you know why I am a kangaroo? Because I now have a pouch, and I hope Precious and I will be off this diet, I call it 2A because there are things on a true Stage 2 diet Precious refuses, I am living on soups, broths, protein shakes and no cal waters. I think I shall have permanent Cream of 🍄 breath. -

Or my recommendation, head for the nearest Bariatric Center of Excellence hospital, doesn't hurt if they also are a teaching hospital. I just had mine at Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center in Columbus Ohio. My surgeon as well as being Chief of Bariatric Medicine and Metabolic Weight Loss is also a Full Professor in the College of Medicine. In my book, teaching hospitals are the best and always on the cutting edge! -
Premier Protein – Not Premier for Bariatric Patients!
Frustr8 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Okay Alex the next time I order from Bariatric Pal store I will order the Cinnamon Swirl, I promise. As a 6 week old bypass I do want something that works for me and I truly could use the extra fiber. So far everything I have ordered I have❤except for one thing. I cannot abide the cheesecake flavor pudding/shake, maybe I can disguise it with peanut butter powder? Oh well--- 99.99% Happy Camper! -
To me, a lot of it rings true (tho I wouldn't nessesarily limit lean meat or minimize dairy.) I like his whole food, vitimins and nutritional content first approach For example he recommends instead of a sugar-free fat free cookie made with aspertame, guar gum, olestra, msg, and splenda (no actual food was harmed in the making of this product) Just eat an apple full of vitimins, photo chemicals, and fiber It worries me when I see a lot of bariatric surgery perminant diet patients recommending tons of fake food I would rather use lettus to make a sandwich then this weird low calorie, low fat, highly processed bread they found. I like that he emphasises veggies, which are both very low calorie and very high nutritient. I do wonder if his people get enough protine, and if they are hungry with less animal protine as animal protine is very satisfying and digests more slowly. I also wonder if the fruit and beans may cause dumping syndrome or blood sugar swings. I wonder if his blended spinnich and raw fruit smoothies are too hard on a tummy early on... (Raw plant fiber)

Struggling to get cleared by doctor for sleeve surgery
Charles DeBrueck posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have been tracked by a professional bariatric surgery medical team for almost a year. Doctor says I am not ready for surgery as I have lost less than 10 pounds and struggling with dietary compliance. I respect his advice but am looking for that extra push to get moving forward. Any positive advice appreciated. -
Yes, I'm 6 months post op on solid foods and my calories are at 500 a day. But my doctor said no more than 700 since I've been struggling. My dietician is aware and she's gotten onto me for going over. I am always full with my 500 a day limit, but I continue eating for unhealthy reasons; boredom, stress, wanting to prove I'll enjoy it, etc. I've got bariastic app on my phone which is like a MyFitnessPal but for bariatric patients with a bunch of bells and whistles. I log for about a week then I get tired of it or forget a day then just justify why not to for a few days to a week. But like I said earlier, I get to move up calories once I reach my goal weight to start my maintaining calories.
-
I’m not even sure but to be honest I tried it because I mashed up the multi vitamins are hard for me to do alone and I mixed it but the day of discharge the bariatric nutritionist told me it was ok to try after about 3 days I did it about day 5

Soup options for liquid phase

I love chili. There’s an awesome turkey chili recipe on the Bariatric pal site that I can’t wait to try. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks I’ll be in that phase. But I love that I’m losing. I miss real food though a little. -
Soup options for liquid phase

liked the chili before surgery, maybe when things move sweeter and calmer I will renew my acquiantance. -
The pre-op isn’t bad. My nutritionist and surgeon have me on a low carb/low fat diet for 30 days, then three days before switch to liquid, then surgery day Clear Liquids. I do low carb often, just seem to keep sliding back to adding carbs eventually. I just downloaded this book for my IPad: The Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery. In finding this book this morning, I’ve discovered so many others and bariatric cookbooks out there. I’m already ‘obsessed’ with my surgery day so I might as well jump in and read as much as I can about it. I also do not want to tell friends or coworkers that I’m having surgery so I need to lose weight right now to cover my deception. I’m going to try to find a book about dealing with that now! Any good bariatric book recommendations?

500 calorie limit at six months out from surgery?????? Am I getting this wrong? I can see 500 in the first stages after healing from surgery, You should be at higher calories at this point. Contact your surgeon's office dietician to check calories and diet instructions. You may find more food enjoyment with increased calories and trying new bariatric recipes and real food (you should be off shakes by now)(shakes never make me feel full or satisfied) Nutrition can still be flavorful. Google bariatric recipes. Log your food to insure the calories and macros total to fit you plan at the end of the day. I use myfitnesspal - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en_US My dieticians recipe site for food ideas: http://insidekarenskitchen.com/bariatric-friendly-recipes/ Chicken fajitas - Make some up without the tortilla. Bariatric pizza recipes Sugar free pumpkin pie parfait If you are cooking for your family. They can eat what you eat. Example chicken fajitas let them have the tortilla. Nothing wrong with our families learning to eat healthy. Kids take on what we model to them. Side note: This is not talking about your situation at home. I have my own opinion on cooking separately for family members. Especially if it's foods that will temp you and derail your program. I would not cook for anyone that can't be supportive. I would set out cereal and milk, lunch meat and bread, frozen dinners for them to microwave. If they want a home cooked meal it will be healthy. Ok off my soap box. I would love to hear back if your office increases your calories. I also want to know how you feel about your food world after trying new foods and recipes.
