  1. I was in the shower yesterday morning scrubbing with my body poof and for some reason I guess my fingertips were rubbing against my skin too. Well I was washing just below my left breast when I felt a hard lump I have never felt it before so I pushed and held my arm up pushed again and thought OMG!! **As a side note it is my nature to freak out over everything and anything So I run to my husband, Water everywhere shower still on screaming FEEL THIS!! THIS IS NOT RIGHT! He looked at me and said "Honey, it is your rib." I was like what??? Then he says, "feel the other side, see a rib." Trust me they aren't sticking out, but before no matter how much poking or prodding I couldn't find a bone I have BONES in here whoo hoo!
  2. I am turning 50 this month. I had the sleeve on 7-11-11. It was my birthday present to myself. So far, so good. Still on the mushie stage but starting to have some NSVs (non scale victories) ... I wore a top today that I decided was just too big ... I won't wear it again to work. That hasn't happened in a LONG time!

My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)

OMG I totally forgot to mention this! I had an NSV too at the appointment. Ok so my Pt Consult is totally cute, perfect, tiny and very fit. So she tells me that she's assigning me the same surgeon who did Lipo for her and she had her knees done as well. Neat huh? LOL Well no, that's not the NSV... so I'm looking at her like, wow she's so cute, perfect, tiny and very fit... (yeah I know I already said that...LOL) and then she tells me she has gone down 2 clothing sizes by getting her Lipo done. She said she went from Size 10 to a Size 6. I had to like... totally take a time out then. She said she's a Size 6. I was like (excuse my french but) "are you totally Sh*ttin' me???" She laughed... and said yes. I don't think she got what was going on in my head because I do fit some Size 6's. THAT TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY!!! It's so weird because I just felt so huge next to her. I have to get my brain on board with the new me. Totally. There's one more too... when she was showing me how my waist would look with a little lipo done there, she told me I really don't have a lot of fat there so my results will come out pretty dam* outstanding. So she shifts my waist a little bit to show my waist looks like a little smaller. She told me I'm going to be tiny.... WHAT??? Tiny huh? LOL. Just thought I'd share that little fun moment with y'all.

Great post Sunnyd! We are learning how to live the rest of our lives in a healthy way both physically and mentally. It can't be all about the number on the scale. We have to relish all of the victories as we make our way through our journeys. I am going to stop and smell the flowers along the way and enjoy the NSVs.
  6. I've been a little reserved over the whole dreaded "3 week stall" and so I am trying to encourage myself. This is what occurred to me: 1) I haven't weighed in 3 days (YAY for me) Does that count as a NSV or is it an anti-NSV? lol 2) I have successfully gotten ALL my Protein in since the day I started Protein drinks and am now able to do it with only 1 Protein shake per day They aint fancy, but I'll take 'em!

    Kids say the darndest things

That is so cute! Luckily mine hasn't seen me in the buff, can't imagine what they might have to say. Our kids noticing the difference is one of those NSV's that we dont think of, but is very rewarding. I was always worried that I would be the 'fat mom' at school and that they might be embarrassed. Now, I'm one of the smaller ones, lol
  8. I am about 4 1/2 months post op. As I reflect on the time since surgery I know I've had many ups and downs. This past month has been harder for me than the others. It's summertime, I'm reconnecting with my social life, and basically living life again. I went on a mini-vaca with friends. I drank and had fun. While I know this doesn't help with my weight loss (and yes the scale slowed during this time) I had a lot of fun with my friends, which has been a long time since I let that happen due to not wanting to be around many people when my weight was higher. Now that I'm home and back on track the pounds are coming off. I've lost 70 pounds since surgery and 133 pounds since starting the process. Some NSV's I've had: 1). not having to worry about fitting in a booth at a restaurant 2). fitting comfortably in the seat while I drive 3). fitting comfortably in a seat at the movie theater 4). having more confidence 5). working up to an hour on the elliptical (yay!) 6). getting into my smaller clothing 7). being comfortable enough to attend social events 8). having more energy to babysit and play with my nephew 9). being able to plan future vacations and book fun, adventurous activities 10). being able to smile again and feel happy (no more fake smile!) There are so many more but that is what comes to mind right away. I know I still have a long way to go but I know I will get there eventually! I'm so happy I had the sleeve and am ready to focus again and hit more milestones!
  9. My consult today went very well!! This surgeon is one of the top PS in my area. He is reasonably priced too, and I've seen his work in person. My cousin had her augmentation there. He told me that doing lipo on my knees would not have a good outcome. The only thing that will help me is a lift of some kind. I was afraid of that, and very impressed he didn't just go ahead and take my money and do it. He knew I didn't have the funds for any additional surgeries, so he won my confidence right away. So, that said it looks like I look best in the 500cc implants, silicone's. That put me up to a very full D or DD according to him. Ohhh Yeahhh Babyyy!!! I also want to say that dang those are some rockin' boobs... OMG!!! And here's a little NSV. I even fitted in the Size Small shirt he gave me, even with the implants in!!! YEAHHHHH!!!! I'm still going to get a second opinion on the knees though. I have another consult at Sono Bello who does strictly liposuction. That is their specialty, on Wednesday morning. I'll see what they have to say. Source: My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)

    NSV!

Last night my hubby hugged me and said "I can tell you've gotten smaller, my arms fit around you better!" I was so happy. I don't really notice the weight loss, so it's nice to know that other people do. I have an amazing hubby who would love me no matter what, but I'm glad he is noticing!

    NSV

That's awesome, Brenda! I have some NSV's too lately. I went shopping last Thursday and found I had dropped another size. Now I'm a 22/24 in tops and a solid 24 in pants - from a 30/32! I'm still just amazed My younger sister brought over 8 bags of clothes she doesn't wear anymore either because she lost weight (she's an 18/20 now) or stuff she just didn't like anymore. I kept 6 out of 8 bags, and can fit into most of it except a few things that I still need to drop about 10 or 15 lbs for. The look on her face when she saw me zip up a pair of jeans was simply priceless. And my husband now calls me "skinny" which isn't true, I'm not skinny, but I freaking love it I'll be going to a massive family reunion on September 10th back east, these people haven't seen me for 2 years, plus my Dad and other sister haven't seen me since the surgery, so I'm looking forward to getting some compliments, My weight loss is definitely noticeable these days!

Little to some, BIG DEAL to me

Lil sister this is a great NSV. I am so proud of you and your loss already. WOW you are rocking that sleeve SIS, Don't forget to get those pics on the gallery so we can see the skinny you in transformation. I am so psyched for you. You are doing great!!!!!! :whoo: :clap2:
  17. My first major NSV - Today I did the grocery shopping. I even pushed the cart. We went to a huge grocery store and did a huge shopping and I walked THE WHOLE WAY and my back didn't hurt AT ALL. Crying with happiness here. The main reason for my having the surgery was because I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes, much less walk, without being in agony from my back.
  18. Love those kinds of NSV's!
  19. NSV #1: Hahaha, Wednesday night I was walking from work to the gym about 3 blocks away and was wearing my leggings and a Tshirt, damned if I didn't get a freaking cat whistle. LOL Lets just say that made the workout just a little bit more easy that night. NSV #2: I was waiting outside the office building last night for my friend to pick me up for dinner and decided to touch up my make up, compact mirrior in hand and appling my lip gloss, I look up and in a passing car a man was looking at me, smiled and gave me a thumbs up. LOL definately made me smile.
  20. 3 days after surgery my daughter told me "Dad this is the best decision you have ever made." I'm down 29 pounds since my protein diet.
  21. I am very happy to report that during my appt. with my primary MD on Wednesday, my blood pressure was 104/45. That is definitely low for me as I usually run 130/80 even on 4 different blood pressure meds. I had been experiencing some light headedness (new word) every time I stand up. My doctor concluded that with my weight loss and healthier lifestyle that we could drop one of my meds. I am very excited. It is certainly nice to see the benefits of my surgery and all the hard work I am doing. Doing a happy dance! :Banane02::Banane05::Banane04:

    Stairs!

Thanks to some genetics and my weight, I have rather bad knees and back problems. The result was I would get really tired just going up one flight of stairs - and would try to avoid them whenever possible. I couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without getting winded. I couldn't even stand in place for 5 minutes without breaking out in a sweat. Then I had VSG. Today - just 2.5 weeks after surgery, I was moving some stuff into my new apartment. I totally forgot about the stairs. There are 4 steps up to the front entrance, then 8 more down to my floor. I did all 12 steps at least 8 times today (both ways - so 16 times total I suppose)! I also unpacked my trunk twice taking stuff into the apartment and putting it away immediately. For me, this is a MAJOR NSV! Boy am I tired now though. Oh, and because I forgot to pack my lunch, I stopped at Big Boy for lunch (plus I wanted to sit in air conditioning for a bit - my apartment has air, but no furniture yet). I ordered the Grilled chicken dinner that came with 2 sides (I chose cottage cheese and baby carrots). My eyes are still bigger than my stomach. I barely made it through the cottage cheese (which was about 1/2 cup). So, I asked for a box when the waitress brought my meal and immediately packaged up the chicken and the carrots that turned out to be glazed carrots. I left the roll on the plate. My "doggie bag" will be at least 3 meals for me - I just have to puree it first. So although I'm really tired, I am proud of myself today. Now to rest up a bit (my back is really bothering me right now, so I'm resting) and then re-pack the car with more stuff for moving tomorrow. At least tomorrow my furniture will arrive at some point in the afternoon, so I'll have a chair to sit on!

    Tired!

Ok, here's my list of things I am tired of... I needed to vent... 1. Fatigue is getting to me, holy crow. I need my metabolism or whatever it is to pick up like yesterday. Most of all, I am tired of being tired all the time. 2. Protein shakes. They don't disgust me, I just don't want them. I need to find portable-to-work foods on the soft foods diet that starts on Sunday, cause this 2-shakes-a-day crap has got to end soon. 3. Water. Oy, water. I don't want it, I don't like it anymore, it is the bane of my existence and I am not getting enough. I just can't force it down, Crystal Light or not. 4. Head hunger. My brain is still convinced that I can eat the way I was eating before the surgery. HA. Talk about eyes being bigger than stomach! 5. My clothes are ALREADY too big. I stood up and my pants fell down. Most of you are thinking, NSV! Except I hate clothes shopping. (Maybe I will hate it less as I can fit into smaller and smaller sizes...) 6. The smell of foods I can't have. Somebody brought Taco Bell in to work. OMG. I am sitting at my desk salivating. I suppose I could have pintos & cheese, but I wouldn't be able to blenderize it first and I'm still technically on purees... Ok, enough whining out of me. I needed to vent. Thanks for letting me. Now the positives... 1. I'm still here to BE tired. 2. No pain. 3. No nausea. 4. ABLE to drink enough water and eat purees without super-tight restriction. 5. Hitting my protein goals. 6. I have a lot to look forward to. I am trying to see it this way! So there's the flip side of the coin. I just have to remember it's there.
