  3. Anyone have their sleeve surgery scheduled for next month? I will be traveling from the MidWest to have mine at Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas on 10/9 😤 Also will be my first time in Vegas! Starting the pre-op diet next Thursday and I have to admit...I'm just feeling like having a food funeral for all of my favorite meals. Scared I will develop complications and be super far away from my surgeon/medical team. At the same time, I am SO excited to have this tool to get ahold of my life! I would love to keep in contact with some fellow October newbies.....

    Blossom Bariatric

I'm scheduled for my sleeve at BB on 10/9! I have a friend who had hers done there in Feb of this year. Said the experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. I was skeptical too. So far, they have been super easy to work with. I also did the fast track program. The only thing I'm nervous about is the flight home and not having easy access to my surgeon if there are any complications. Please share your progress/experience with me as I'm looking to find friends who have also been sleeved here! <3

Okay so I realize that I don’t have any size 10 black pants. So I’m wearing the oversized 12s today for a last hurrah and decided to pair it with a top that’s form-fitting it looks a little balanced. Also of note: I put my shoes on before snapping the pic. 😂😂

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

Oct 23 is my date and I'm so excited! I leave 10/4 for a week long cruise and come home to start my pre-op diet on 10/13.
  9. 5'2", ♀️10m PO, maintaining 120.6 lbs this morning So yeah, apparently I gained 3+ lbs overnight. A few months ago this would have had me planning a real low calorie day (or days) to bring the number down immediately. I now know this is likely just a fluctuation and I have no need to be too concerned unless it keeps going up over several days. I've come a long way, baby. With that said, my food intake at a bar last night are not for the faint of heart. Menu for Yesterday, Monday Sep 16: Totals --- 3390 cals --- 169g protein --- 182g NET carbs --- 214g fat 9:00am (0 cals) peppermint tea + ½ stevia packet 12:00pm (280 cals) salad greens + cucumber + capers + vinaigrette 1 oz cheddar cheeese 1 oz smoked turkey breast ½ oz almonds 7:30pm (917 cals) ¼ cup scalloped potatoes 125g quiche Lorraine ¼ tbsp pickled ginger 30g seaweed salad 7oz various sashimi ⅓ moon cake 10:00pm - 2:00am (2100 cals) 1 mini chocolate chip cookie ¾ cup trail mix (almonds, cashews, cranberries, dark chocolate) ½ order of nachos (tortilla chips + salsa + sour cream + cheddar cheese + jalepenos 3 shots of rose gin Exercise: 5km run (I've given up trying to do the 10K again for now. Too much pressure!!!) 15 mins strength training (arms)

  11. Hi All! I’m scheduled for a VSG to Loop DS revision next Thursday 9/26/19 with Dr. Walter Medlin In UT. I had VSG in SD with Dr. Takata In 2013, insurance covered it. It was successful and without complications. Pre VSG I was 297+... at my lowest I was at 180, With time and two pregnancies I lost restriction and gained. I was able to lose weight after both pregnancies but was not able to maintain it, or return to the post VSG pre pregnancy low. Despite maintaining a medium level of activity (depending on the week spin class/ triathlons/ 5ks/ 18-30 mi relaxed bike rides on the weekends/ lots of walking), I hovered around 235, now with low activity I’m at 250. I’m in my 2 week preop diet for the revision which is just as tough as I remember it the first time, maybe more. Little nervous for this surgery-more than I remember being for the VSG. This time I’m going in self pay. Confident in my decision but nervous about the immediate aftermath, toilette issues/ rate of loss/ nutrient deficiencies- the usual. Dr doesn’t plan to touch the sleeve, unless any problems are seen in the EDG. I’m loading up on vitamins and supplements now To get ahead of any deficiencies caused by malabsorption in the long run. Dr will determine Common Channel length at time of surgery at the moment it looks like it will be ~300 cm. Has anyone else had Dr. Medlin for their revision? Any tips for immediately after surgery? I’ll be flying back to SD the following Saturday-Anyone have to fly 2 days after surgery? Tips on flying post op, any general post op tips for this specific Bariatric surgery would be appreciated. I plan on updating this thread as I go along, and hope others might find it helpful in their research too. Thanks!

    8 weeks post op...

I’ve also got a perspective for y’all I’ve lost about 84 pounds since surgery date on 2-6-19. That’s an average of about 2.7 pounds per week which is at the LOWER end of the 2-4 pounds/week average. I’ve had 2 major stalls in which I didn’t lose much weight to speak of, but the INCHES were flying off of my body. Always always always measure before deciding that you’re going to “fail at” WLS. I’m not even 7.5 months post-op, but I’m going to hit GW sometime within the next 4-6 weeks. And that’s me who is at the lower end of average weekly loss and hitting a couple hard stalls along the way.
  13. Okay so it feels weird quoting myself, lol Today went really well Had some hunger around 11:30, which not surprisingly is about the time of day I break fast most days. I pushed through it with extra water and at 12:45 had a cup of the bone broth and salt. Work was crazy as expected on a Monday and I had planned on eating some leftovers at 6:30. I ended up eating them at 8 which gave me a 26hr fast. I contemplated skipping and trying for a 36hr fast, but it’s so hard for me to eat in the morning that I got scared I might not be able to hold much food so I chickened out and ate tonite. All in all, I only had about 220 calories worth of food so I drank a cup of milk when I got home. Probably finished the day at about 40-45gm protein which isn’t horrible for a 26hr fast. Tomorrow my plan is to eat 800 calories and get in 65-70gm protein in a 10 hour eating window

    Post-Op / Gas Pains

I know exactly what your going through. I was sleeved on 9/10/19. Gas pains are the worst. I’m still not sure if the pains are hunger, has, or my stomach spazzing out. I feel like I can drink more than 2 ounces. Today I ate probably close to 3 oz of yogurt. I have yet to feel any restrictions other than my stomach start to hurt. The gas pain radiates to my chest. Hang in there. Everyday should get better for us.

    Post-Op / Gas Pains

It took me over 10 days to get rid of all the gas. I walked and walked and walked. Chewing Gas-Ex tablets (approved by my dr) did help some. I felt NO hunger at all for a BLISSFUL TWO DAYS. Since Day THREE after surgery I have experienced true hunger AND head hunger. Sometimes I could tell the difference, sometimes I cannot. My restriction however, always kicked in so I RARELY exceeded 1 to 2 ounces of liquid the first few weeks. Then I could sometimes hit around 2 to 4 ozs. After that, I could feel the restriction kick in hard. Some ppl CAN take in more around these timeframes but I deferred to my dr's plan which indicated I should NOT consume more than this so I didn't. I'd follow whatever your dr's plan is...and if still hungry, try drinking water (I'd read FluffyChix's post on Doing the Head Work and/or searching on this forum about how to tell if what you are feeling is head hunger (IT can be VERY VERY similar to the 'true hunger' sensation). Mainly wanted to assure you that what you are going through is normal! Congrats on getting to this part of your journey!!

  20. Hi! I just discovered this forum & I'm so glad I did! I have a ton of questions and don’t know anyone that has gotten bariatric surgery so I’m hoping this site helps.. I was sleeved on 9/12/19 and had incredibly bad gas pains which I am still going through along with difficulties burping at times (I feel it in my throat but it doesn’t want to exit). It got to the point of uncomfortableness & chest pressure, that I visited the ER at midnight last night, to make sure it was a clot or heart/lung issue.. & I was told it is all just gas. I am walking around as required but just can’t figure this out. How long did it take anyone on here to clear the gas? Did anyone else have difficulty burping? Also, I feel as if I’m always hungry because my stomach is constantly growling or at least I think it is.. Did anyone else feel the same after such a short amount of time after surgery? Please & Thank you!!

    September 2019 🍂🍁

Hi! I’m new here. My surgery is tomorrow, a revision from a 10 year old band to the sleeve. I have to be there at 5:45am. Yikes! I haven’t been nervous but am starting to get really nervous now. I appreciate all of you sharing your stories! It’s helping to calm me down.
  22. Thanks! I did tell my doc that liquids go in pretty fast, and he was fine with that. Still, I am under my requirements for water. I did get a water bottle with time markings to help me out with tracking and encouragement. Doc was happy that I switched to this water bottle to help motivate. I think I do great with water in the first half of the day, but then the second half of the day I just really don't want to drink. I also think that my attempts at "meals" is making it worse. You know... the whole don't drink 30 minutes before/after thing. It isn't a problem at breakfast time because i get up, drink my water... wait a little bit, then drink my protein shake. But if I attempt anything even slightly more solid it slows me down. And this whole not knowing when to eat and when to stop eating thing is hard to figure out. I am allowed to eat 2-4 oz of clear, full liquids, or purees up to every 2 hours, but a 500 calorie max. I just can't tell physically when I should start/stop... and I am eating nowhere near every 2 hours! I haven't bothered to put my "food" in a log (yes I know I will need to) because If I get 2 shakes in, I don't get much else in. If I get one shake in, then I can get maybe 4 oz of broth and a couple bites of something a little more solid. Then I can't get my 2nd shake in. I KNOW I am under 500 calories at this rate! My doc starts purees at day 10. I am just slow to take to it! And no... not trying to chase the "full", but want to be sure to stop if I am full!

5 years out need advice please

Welcome to the forum, You have done great. 9 pounds is easier to lose than 50, 60, 100+lbs. You are not alone; I had a gain my third year and worked it down. Many of us go back to bariatric real food stage diet. (log food, hydrate, and exercise/activity) Some things to try: Choose a food plan that works for you. Bariatric diet, keto, paleo, low carb, whole 30, vegan, intermittent fasting. whatever you choose, log your food in Myfitnesspal or baritastic . Weight loss calories are not a one size fits all. Once you know your current calories by using myfitnespal, You can lower the calories (or raise them) to see where your body loses weight. Get temptations out of the house I’m a sleeve. Years out, my surgery restriction is less. I can consume more food volume. I found ways to fill the extra space without going over my calories Sugars and extra carbs cause craving and hunger. Detox off them Keep healthy options for sweet and salty cravings on hand. Join the Sept weight loss challenge for motivation. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/427650-💜-sep-2019-challenge-💜/?tab=comments#comment-4808981
