  5. Hi everyone, I feel blessed to report that I had surgery on 9/17 and I came home 9/19. I have no memory except waking up in my private room. I wanted pain meds because my belly ached. I was moderately thirsty not hungry. I have not had any problems with vomiting except with a liquid pain medicine. I stopped that and now am just taking oxy here and there. But overall I am doing very well with keeping down liquids, soups, water, jello. Home and walking up and down stairs and resting but feeling great! I lost 10lbs just doing the cleanse but haven't lost much yet otherwise that I can tell. I am taking gas-x around the clock but the pain is minor. I hope everyone else is doing just as good!
  6. ALWAYS remember the WHY!!! Whenever times get tough and you have to dig deep. IT ALL comes back to the WHY. If your WHY isn't significant enough or impactful enough, and you being the "royal you" not you in particular, I don't believe you will be successful in this long term. It has to TRULY be something you NEED even more than WANT. It's like a mass factor level of order of 10 magnitude.
  7. I personally wouldn't take stimulants (appetite suppressants) prior to surgery. It could cause you to have cardiac or blood pressure issues and could make them cancel surgery on that date and increases your OR risks. That's a sucky pre-op diet. I've never seen clear liquids on a pre-op diet for more than 2 days max and that's after following 10 days of a full liquid protein diet. So you aren't really hungry by that time and the 2 days of clears isn't any big deal. ((hugs)).
  8. Hi fellow October folks - Thought it would be fun to do a roll call and to see our surgery months/twins. I extrapolated as much as I could from our Surgery Thread but if I missed anything....feel free to cut and paste and repost and add your date. Good luck to us all! 9. Nothing that has more than 2 grams of protein per serving. You can only drink things that have 10 calories or less per serving. My dietician said if you feel dizzy that you can have a little orange juice,
  10. You can have crystal light, broth but no more than 2 grams of protein per serving, sugar free popsicles, nothing more than 10 calories per serving.

    I really don't like stalls

I'm a daily weigher too. You just have to resolve and accept that daily/weekly fluctuations and non-fluctuations are just happening. It is still hard! Here's a snapshot of my last 1 year of daily weighing. Look how spikey it is. Most charts will show spikes or stairsteps interspersed with periods of flat line. But the overall trend of the graph will show downward movement. Even though I'm a slow loser...9 months later I hit my first goal, 13 months I hit my goal 2, and exactly 19 months to the day from surgery, I hit my last goal 3. It will happen. But you have to remain laser focused and not allow yourself to derail. Or plan for derailment. Cuz trust me, derailment happens even in the face of planning for 100% compliance. Cuz that's just how we roll. Our lizard brain wants what it wants! Hang in there!
  14. Probably pure spasm, possibly a stricture, been fighting it for over a year, trying to remain patent/open, I'm told now ( late September 2019) that my stoma is small in size, that my jejunem is open with visible scars from where last year's ulcers were, so thin foods do go through slowly but they do finally go through. Still. have not graduated to any more than moderately tho k pureed chew as I may. Precious still provides me with emesis on a frequent basis, 3-5 times weekly, keep extra gray Wal-Mart bags in the wastebasket near my Recliner so I can tie off and dispose of what Precious Pouch declines. On the Good Side I am regaining the size I had as a late Teenager- never expected to be under 300, under 200 and we'll into Onederland, after a starting BMI of 53.6, finally found my Ist Visit Summary from O,S,U, Bariatrics--- a BMI of 28.3 seems like achieving an Impossible Dream. And after Size 30W, a Size 16 to 18, majority 16 is a definite WhewBaby. So perhaps there are benefits to the Whole Shebang I have gone through. Just for my Own Peace of Mind, I wish somebody would be honest and stamp "Gastrointestinally Crippled" because at coming up to 13 months, I wonder if I will ever be "RIGHT" again, will I still have a "Healing Day" IDK When, IDK in what Manner, but nobody told ME yet to stop praying👼🙏so I continue till my breath leaves ME SomeDay. Maybe I trusted in -All Things Will Be Made New- perhaps for ME only a Bible Verse. But, you know, I AM still better, healthier and thinner than I started out so perhaps I should be praying for Placid Acceptance at This Point.

    Before and After Pics

August 2017, October 2018 --> (Surgery Jan 31, 2019) --> April 18, June 20th, Yesterday Sept 18 Here's my progress so far. Long way to go, another 80lbs to go, however quite pleased with the results so far.
  16. Hi there. I'm two months out from my surgery (July/16/2019) and I was doing great until about a week ago. Then I started vomiting unexpectedly. I've been very lucky up until then, as I had only been sick once from a food that didn't agree with me to that point. When I got sick last week, I took note as to what I had eaten, and it was nothing new. The next day I vomited even more. Last Sunday I was vomiting a lot and could hardly eat or drink anything without feeling sick. I called my surgery clinic office to tell them what was happening on Monday, and told them I had an appointment with my family doctor booked for Tuesday (coincidentally). Since Monday noon, I've been unable to hold down anything solid. My family doctor thinks I have a stomach virus, but now it's Friday and I still can't hold down anything (I keep vomiting water). I've phoned my clinic 3 times now and they make note of it, but have given me little guidance on what to do. I've tried Gravol and it helps a bit (at least some water stays down), but seeing no improvement after a week has me worried that it's something going wrong with my surgery. Has anyone else experienced extreme nausea and vomiting for days? What caused it?

    Panniculectomy

I'm retired, so that really didn't apply to me. However, after my LBL, I was out & about and driving about 10-12 days after the surgery, I think - so you may be OK with taking two weeks off. Granted, I still had a lot of discomfort, but at least I could drive and get out by then..
  18. 5'2", ♀️10m PO, maintaining 118.3 lbs this morning. So yesterday I decided to go on a pre-vacay-food-intake-plan (i.e., my old WLS diet, lol) in anticipation of all the mangiare bene that will be going on next week. It's weird that I find eating "bariatric-ly" easier than eating "maintenance-ly". It just feels like there is so much less effort, stress and thinking involved, you know? (or is that just me?) Menu for Yesterday, Thursday Sep 19: Totals --- 546 cals --- 62g protein --- 11g NET carbs --- 25g fat 9:00am (0 cals) black coffee + ½ packet Stevia 1:30pm (120 cals) protein shake: 1 scoop powder + 2 tsp Benefibre + 17g Clearlax + 2 tsp instant decaf coffee 6:00pm (421 cals) salad greens + vinaigrette >>> @MarvelGirl25 ..tried the cumin, not sure it went very well with my mix, lol, will have to try it with yours. 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds 100g grilled shrimp 1 poached egg avocado smoothie: 50g avocado + 38g spinach + 25g cucumber + lemon juice + garlic powder + cilantro + mint + black pepper + Greek yogurt + ice >>> @FluffyChix ...my first crack at this was too watery so I added some Greek yogurt. Then I added some mint and black pepper. Pretty yum ❤️ Yesterday's Exercise: 1hr hot yoga 30 mins on treadmill 15 mins strength training (arms)

Hi twin for 10/1! You are so much more prepared than me:). My job has just been crazy lately and can barely get sleep in it seems. Can you share what your prep looks like so it could save me some time?

My date is 10/1 and the time is flying by! I have most everything gathered up & packed. Very excited!
  22. I have a tentative date of October 15/19. I'm getting so excited! I've lost 35 lbs on my own already. I'm so ready to move forward on my journey to health and fitness! [emoji4] Sent from my SM-A520W using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. This has been one of my better weeks! 7 wks out and down 32 lbs. I went from a 3x to a 1x and they are loose [emoji4]. I haven't bought any new/new to me clothes yet. I need to, my coworkers who do not know I had surgery are giving me a hard time about my baggy clothes. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 Surgery wt: 266 CW 234 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    Food Before and After Photos

I have both the regular and pumpkin mini waffle makers. The pumpkin one is especially adorable. I got it for $10 with Amazon Prime. Just today I got a Dash mini griddle at Marshalls for $8. I don't like pancakes but I may try making "buns" with the chaffle recipe by blending it into a pancake batter consistency.
